I thought I reviewed this bar once before. Maybe I started but forgot to finish it. That could be the case, I tend to drink too much at this place... Anyway, five stars all the way for Monety's Log Cabin! If you dive into this worn watering hole you'll find a lot of locals gossiping, discussing sports, or doing their best to pickle their livers. That's part of it's appeal. It's an old, worn, unpretentious neighborhood bar filled with friendly people from the area. From the bartenders to the patrons, it's one of the most colorful groups of fun loving people you're likely to meet. Nobody here has an attitude or bats an eye if you strike up a conversation with a complete stranger. Or if you bring your dog! You won't find a wine list, EV charging station, or vegan, wheat-grass, roasted beet, tofu smoothies at this place. It's all about beer, whiskey, and cigarettes out on the patio. That's right there's a smoking section outside and it's usually pretty crowded. Uncle Dave's Rye IPA is the best beer they have, and it always seems to be on tap. They offer a variety of other beers, as well as wine and mixed drinks. It's a great stop after a hike in Henry Cowell park next door. Or if you just need a drink to unwind.

Monty's is a whole experience. It's the only bar I've been to where underwear hangs on the walls, dogs are allowed, and there are googly eyes on the bushes. I recommend ordering a drink or two (the bartender's go to is a lemon drop!) and just sit back. Pick a song on the juke box, play pool, or hangout by the fire. It's a vibe and I'm here for it!

Soooo glad they have outdoor seating setup during COVID-19. coronavirus aint gonna stop em! Monty's has local IPA beers from brewery Discretion Brewing on tap. there's even a happy hour discount for those brews on tap

Cash only! Don't worry there's a ATM! Definitely a locals joint as this is located in a small town. The bartender was approachable and didn't make you feel like you didn't belong. She seemed to know every regular and made a kick ass michelada. I would go back in a heartbeat!

This is more than just a dive bar. Its a local favorite. The owner is usually there tinkering around and will say hi. Pool table inside. The outside is what did it for me. The weather was perfect! Met wonderful people. Great fun. Casual and friendly. Will be back.

Definitely a cool little dive bar in a log cabin...we went on a nice sunny day and mostly hung out in the garden which is dog friendly (inside as well) friendly bartender and patrons...

We tried the cranberry salad with cranberry dressing and the cornbread ... both were delicious. We also tasted the Philly cheesesteak, which was very tasty as well. The outdoor patio has a really nice atmosphere, and it's dog-friendly, which is a huge plus. The prices were very reasonable, too. The only downside was that the espresso martini was a bit too bitter for my taste. I wish I had saved room for dessert! Overall, I'd definitely come back next time I'm in town to try more of the menu. Highly recommend

So I know what good food is supposed to taste like and there are two rules of thumb. you can have Expensive food that taste really good. Or not good tasting food that's really cheap. Unfortunately neither of those was my experience. I haven't been here for a few years, but I'm very disappointed. I ordered some takeout primarily the 18 ounce ribeye with point Reyes blue cheese with coleslaw on the side and added an additional tub of chili. the very nice woman on the other end of the phone said they changed the menu and they had a new steak called a Ron long although it was only 14 ounces I still have the great benefit of paying the same price as the bigger 18 oz steak $49 I realize prices go up and I can live with that. However, the steak I got was probably the worst steak I've had in over a decade! And that is saying a lot, since I've been to England. In Fact it was closer to medium well as opposed to the medium rare I ordered. There was absolutely, no marbling or fat in the steak at all !this was not a restaurant quality steak. I guess they got a new cookie running the chuckwagon, but apparently he doesn't know that fat equals flavor it also equals tender, juicy meat all which was missing in this 3/8 inch slab of shoe leather. The steak was dry flavorless and overcooked frankly not worth five dollars let alone the $49 they charged me. the coleslaw turned out to be sliced carrots, onions that had sat in the same room as a tepid pan of water (not the slaw I ordered) the cornbread seemed "old " the chili, however, was certainly better than canned and maybe slightly on par with what you could buy down the street in Safeway total price for this culinary treat was $82. It quite honestly was not worth the money they charged, let alone the cost of gas to get it. like I said I was very disappointed. when I was there a few years ago The food was actually pretty good. Maybe I'll go back in a few years and see if the flavor tide has come back in. I'm not expecting Michelin star food here however I do expect them to get my order right and not charge $64 for such a terrible low-grade piece of meat. Frankly, the food was a rip off. Save your money for lottery tickets, sure you can't eat those either, but if you win a couple of bucks, you might be able to buy a drink at the bar!

Service is next-level friendly (they're basically homies), and everything comes out quick without cutting corners. I somehow remember everyone's name... except Alex? (Is it Alex? Sorry, man. I'll get it eventually.) The ambiance is like your favorite slightly-chaotic dive bar--mounted animal heads and all--but way cleaner. No shade Monty. The music swings from emo to Shania Twain and somehow always works. There's solid outdoor seating if inside isn't your vibe. I've learned how to play Mario Kart on their little TV, discovered I don't hate Cats, and even squeezed in some laptop time (WiFi's a little iffy, but there are spots nearby if you need it). Honestly, this place is kind of epic--and it's because of the staff and guests are SC beasties and beauties

The Good: * Friendly bartenders * Large shared parking lot with Wild Roots * Beers are as fresh as it gets, as they're brewed just a few miles away in Santa Cruz. * Full bar with liquor, if you're not here for the beer. * Food at the Emerald Duck is fantastic. Definitely come hungry. * Large dog-friendly outdoor seating The Meh: * I don't know why, but I'm just not a huge fan of Humble Sea's Hazys. They're always just a little bit off for me, but with that said, I'm a picky b¡tch when it comes to Hazys. So take it fwiw. The Ugly: * We tried visiting here once before but got scared off by the signage in the parking lot that states something to the effect of "Parking for Wild Roots Market and the Cremer House."
