Although we called ahead (as they do not take reservations) because we had a large party, the seating was extremely inconvenient at high top bar tables with an infant and toddler....but we made it work! I ordered an apple pear martini (3 times before receiving it) and it was very bitter however; the food and the friendly staff (even though our waitress was slow) is what made me go up a star and settle at 4!!! My Jack special was PHENOMENAL! Chicken Parmesan was amazing (hubby ordered) the white flatbread...delicious! Maybe it was the fact we came on a Sunday.... either way, the food was good enough for a return and a second experience! We will be back based off of just that. I've never had a worse dinner. The food and drinks were okay deserving of 2-stars. However I think the server forgot our table. After 40 minutes I asked she seemed panicky and 20 minutes later our dinner came out with the salad and appetizers . It wouldn't have been that bad except my brother didn't get his food, we told the staff about the mistakes and after another 20 minutes he got his pizza. The manager came by, "it sounds like we really messed up tonight". We were offered free drinks but I would have expected the whole meal to be free. Maybe the server was brand new, I don't know. I have been to Monza many times. The atmosphere is excellent if a little loud at busy times. The service is always spot on. The food is usually consistent even if it is not that memorable. That changed on my last visit. While they don't specifically call themselves an Italian restaurant, they tout on their website brick oven pizzas and house made pasta. And they are named after a city in Italy, so let's call them Italian inspired. One of the more memorable things on the menu to me is the arancini. Fried rice balls stuffed with cheese served with marinara. Perfect small plate for sharing. What's not to love? Except the marinara has been replaced with a cilantro sauce. Now I am sure there is a region in Italy that may use cilantro, but I have never encountered it in any Italian restaurant. And since I am one of the many people that have a genetic intolerance to cilantro, I cannot eat it. On to the bruschetta. This has been changed from a classic bruschetta to another never before seen in an Italian restaurant. The basil and garlic has been replaced with guacamole. You read that right. Another amazing meal at Monza. My sister and I had dinner here again last night. Monza is my new FAVORITE place in Manassas! Olivia the bartender was one of the best servers I've ever had... and Daniel, her bar back, what an amazing team. Monza never fails to impress me. The oysters are to die for, literally, to die! I had the Penne Cilantro last night for the first time, it was cooked perfectly and the sauce was just fantastic. Ask them to spice it up a notch if you're in the mood for a kick. If a zero was allowed I would put it, went to Monza with family been here several times and never an issue. We were seated and everything was going well we ordered drinks and an appetizer, then things went down hill fairly quickly. Our drinks came and our over cooked mozzarella sticks as well, we finished up our drinks and our appetizer and then it begins we waited about 25 minutes and watched our waitress walk past us several times never stoping to check on us or ask if we wanted to order. Attempted to get he attention and failed as she seemed to avoid our attempts. I decided I would walk up to the bar area and see if I could get some help, as I was standing there I saw why our waitress wasn't doing much, she was to busy drinking at the bar with an gentleman who later we found out was the manager. After the shocked look on our waitress face and the I don't care look of the managers face I returned to our table, several more moments passed and a new waitress came and began to apologize for the waitress and what had happened and stated the restaurant is shot staffed. I asked to speak to the manager, he did show up and it appeared he didn't care he was drinking on the job, drinking with an employee. His demeanor, attitude and lack of care was very evident. He had no explanation and just mumbled something that I couldn't understand, I asked our new waitress what he said. She stated " give them free drinks" Not what I wanted to here, we wanted our order taken so we could eat and enjoy the evening. The only bright spot was our new waitress she did an amazing job after taking over and continued to say she was sorry for the actions of others. Never did the manager return or check on us not even an apology, this made it seem this was an ongoing situation and no real management is happening. Based on the pizza I ate today, this restaurant would not be able to get certified by the Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana. In Centreville there is a restaurant called Ciao Osteria that is certified. The pizza at Ciao Osteria is amazing. The pizza at Monza is much better than Pizza Hut or any large chain, but it's also not real brick oven pizza. While in Old Town manassas we decided to try Monza I understand not many people are working only 3 tables are busy at the bar one is completely done eating and no one came to our table to take our order after 2 people are just there just standing. We waited for over 15 minutes and decided to leave. On our way out my husband decided to talk to the manager and mentioned the reason why we were leaving he just smiled and said sorry. If I could give a zero star I would. I felt that the food was good but it wasn't good enough to block out the horrific service. I understand people are short staffed and that they were busy. Once the silverware came he brought no napkins we legit shared one napkin between four of us as he just kept forgetting them. The food was OK, our sever was great. BUT we were shocked when we got the bill. They are charging a 5% COVID fee. What? Really? First, there were no disposable products except for nakins and menu. Clearly the two napkins and two paper menus did not cost the $3.40 we were charged. Further, this dropped to the bottom line as a taxable item. Again, REALLY? No other place we've been is pulling this garbage. To boot, the servers who have to wear a mask throughout their shift see none of this fee. Total gauging of the customer by Monza ownership. We knew it would be busy going on a First Friday and were patient because of this for the 15 minutes it took to get drinks and the hour for our appetizer but when after 2 and a half hours we had yet to receive our pizzas we were done. My husband had to chase the waiter, who kept on looking at us like "oh crap I need to get their food and running away,"to get our bill where he tried to charge us for food we weren't ever served. After that I didn't want another one and then it took forever to get the check. After we finally got the check we waited another 15 minutes and I then walked my check up to the manager. The food was amazing, but our waitress Maddie needs some training. We use to be regulars until we had a baby and this was our first time back with our baby. I noticed my favorite pizza wasn't on the menu and when I asked her about it she said no sorry it wasn't available anymore. OK fine. It took her 30 min to come back and ask us what we wanted to order and when I asked her what's good she said the pizza....... Me: OK the pizza I wanted wasn't there what else is good. Maddie: The salads...they've had the spinach salad a while...... Me: OK well what dish is popular? What are people ordering a lot of? Maddie: Ummmm the sword fish sandwich is good if you like fish. So needless to say my husband orders a pizza I get the fried chicken blt..... 45 minutes later (and after all the other tables around us who came 30min after us and had the bar tender take their order got their food) ours shows up, and we only had 1 set of silverware and the ranch on my sandwich was not on the side. And then She's boarder line rude to my husband asking for silverware. Plus, in the 5 month hiatus we had from Monza they have cut the pizza section drastically as well as uped the prices...... sadly after this discovery we went from regulars to probably once in a blue mooners. May make a Tuesday appearance (that is if they still have the Tuesday martini specials) :-/ ....... but on the bright side, the musician playing outside was amazing! Stopped in on a busy Friday night to listen to the live music and grab a bite to eat. Battle St is closed off between Church and Center St for live music and dancing. It's an awesome atmosphere. When we got there, we were told it was a 30 min wait for an outside table. No big deal as we put our name on the list and went inside to the bar for a drink. Within 5 minutes, the hostess found us at the bar and immediately sat us outside. From there, it just went downhill. We had to flag down the hostess again because the waiter never came over. Then, we literally had to stand up and wave our arms to get the attention of the waiter; he had no interest whatsoever to wait on us. So, after 30 minutes, we finally placed our order and the waiter never came back again. Our food was brought out by the kitchen staff and we were never checked on again. It's a shame, because the food was good and the atmosphere was great. This should have been a 4-star review if it wasn't for the waiter, or lack thereof. The owners decided to change the way they made some of the foods, including the pizza. It's just not the same anymore. I've been so disappointed the last few visits. However, the drinks are always on point! I especially love the sangria - red or white! And you certainly can't beat Martini Mondays. This place is still a fun place to hang out and drink - it's very popular, making it hard to find seats during the weekend. The one thing that frustrates me to no end is when I ask for a certain brand of alcohol and a drink is made for me and the minute I taste it I know it's incorrect. When I ask about it and I'm told it's a different brand. I'm sorry in my opinion not all vodkas taste the same so if you don't have what I ask for tell me, I can change my drink order. That has happened to me on two different occasions with two different bartenders here. Other than that service has been good, and it can get really busy here. It's nice that they offer outside dining and have an acoustic performer. As for the food, I think it's average. The seafood pasta dish lacked flavor. The calamari was basic and fried but tasty. The pizza I would say is more of a highlight here. I've had it a couple of times, one time I did receive a completely burnt one. I was shocked that it was even served, but when I pointed it out it was immediately corrected. For Manassas I would say it's a nice alternative to the options available. read more

The bar is to the left when you walk in, it has an old cabin-like feel to it, large wood bar top, plush stools, I was instantly a fan; I kept saying "it's so cute in here!". 6 of us sat at the bar, it was a quiet night so I think we were a welcomed distraction for the bartenders. When I checked in I received a free dessert with pizza purchase; I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ Pulled Pork pizza- apparently I ordered off an old menu because all the items on the one I initially ordered from weren't part of the meal. The old one had feta, pineapple, pulled pork, and BBQ. The new one has BBQ, pulled pork, pineapple, bacon, and jalapenos.. I didn't have much of a choice since the first pizza doesn't exist so I went for the spicy one....and man was it spicy! The jalapenos were so fresh and tasty, I had to cut them in half and even remove some! Quality was good though, good crust, plenty of toppings throughout, pretty happy with my decision for $14. I had a few bites of my friend's tortellini...this is what I'm getting next time- YUM. The dessert I chose was the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake..please and thank you can I have another? So we stopped into Monza this evening for dinner. A little hesitant after our last Carmello's experience. Thankfully, this experience was nothing like the last. This was our first time to Monza and personally it's more my style than Carmello's. It's very tastefully decorated, they situated us in the corner by the window and it was a perfect little spot to people watch on the street. They have an impressive selection of beers and wines, as well as signature drinks. For dinner we started with the fried risotto/mozzarella appetizer which was a good size and a very original. We both had side salads and they were fantastic. I had the spinach salad, and was very excited to see that they had one. Something about Spinach and goat cheese just warms my soul! The citrus dressing was delicious, very well made and not overpowering at all. My other half selected the Monza salad which had an excellent combination of cranberries, walnuts, and a balsamic vinaigrette that would compete with some of the best I've had. For dinner we split the margarita pizza which is obviously cooked in a brick style oven. The crust was perfect, and I have kind of a nitpick for pizza. Being from NY I know good pizza, this was well done in my book. They had an excellent check in offer on yelp as well, a free dessert with pizza purchase. The creme brûlée was sweet and hit the spot. The only two things that kept the rating from a five star review was the waitress made a few mistakes, first timing the entree a little better so you don't tell us, "want me to keep it under the warmer?" I was a little turned off by that. Nothing like food drying out under a warming lamp. And both cups of coffee she brought me were not very hot. Very good coffee, but just wasn't hot enough. I came here after a day out at Chrysalis Vineyards. We wanted some food and good drinks. We had eaten a lot throughout the day so something small would do. Monza is in Old Town Manassas. Quaint and hidden, this gem is a great spot! They seated us right away and accommodated our large party nicely. We got menus right away and their drink menu was great! Lots of fun and tasty martinis and a beer and wine selection that would make me make the hour and half drive to try them all. I want with the Almond Joy, this drink was delicious, it tasted like a dessert! I loved it! my friend got a fruity one (it had berries in the name.) But it tasted like Kool-aid, we loved the drinks! I also had their Vienna lager, had a bite to it that was really nice. The food, we ordered appetizers, we assumed the dishes would be small, they were not! They were very generous! I got the calamari and the aracini, super yummy! I ordered two and got full, the calamari was good, a little salty but good. My favorite were the aracini, freshly made and the cheese was oh so yummy! My husband and I have lived in Manassas for almost 3 years and have really been at a loss to find a place that was not the regular chain restaurant. We recently visited Monza and found a new favorite! Monza's atmosphere, decor and food make it a go to place if you're looking for a change. We weren't really that hungry when we visited (we were mainly looking to get a few drinks and an app). The app selection was OK. We had the calamari which was a bit over cooked, but it's hard to find perfectly cooked calamari anywhere. Their draft selection is minimal, but good. They could really use a stout on tap. They have a large selection of wine though. In addition to the calamari app, we had a margherita pizza which was delicious! all the ingredients were fresh! Just enough to split and not be over stuffed! Afterward we had the crème brulee and chocolate cake, both of which were good, but nothing to write home about. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Our food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. We will definitely visit again soon. Great place all in all. read more

I would have refused to pay the $90 (split so almost $200) if we weren't with friends.... we got there at 630.... didn't get to order past our apps until 745!! our food didn't come out until 835, AFTER I waited by the bar for the manager (which it magically came out 5 m later ) & he didn't do one damn thing for us! We had a young baby with us who luckily had his ordered with the apps, and had to patiently wait for us for over 2 hours to leave the restaurant. (4 adults 1 baby) not even offered to take off an appetizer or a free dessert not even a sorry for the wait. Yes it was busy, not our fault. Other people had gone and left and because we are honest people we didn't want to just leave since we did have 3 apps and a round of drinks already ... boy I wish we had just left! This is a pic of the bill time we entered our drinknorder and time we finally got the bill.... if you can't handle a busy night don't stay open. If you're in the wrong and make people wait 35 m to order and almost an hour to actually get the 4 meals, then admit and own up and fix it like any well managed place would. I really, really love Monza. The food is great, especially their pizzas. They have a huge martini list with $5 specials on Mondays. I have sat at the bar several times and the restaurant a few times and both have been good experiences. The vibe is laid back and informal and the decor is homey and modern at the same time. Service is always attentive and courteous and I just like it here. Monza has been a wonderful addition to Old Town Manassas and a great alternative to their neighboring restaurant, Carmello's. read more

Monza a is a little gem in Manassas. I had breakfast there on Saturday and sat at one of the tables in their beautiful outdoor area. I had an omelette which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The brunch menu is small but all the foods are really good and well prepared. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. The owner is Portuguese and I'd love to see some influences in the menu especially some more interesting brunch foods like a Portuguese take on chicken and waffles. read more
