So many good choices it was hard to pick what to eat!!! I loved everything we got! The drink was amazing and well made! Very well thought out menu for drinks and food! Our waitress was amazing! She was able to give us all the information about the menu and drinks! They have trained the staff amazingly! I love the welcoming feeling the staff gives you! We came in for brunch on Saturday and it was really quiet so we had pretty much the whole restaurant to ourselves. Our server was really awesome and attentive. You start off with some flavored popcorn and we also put in an order for the silver dollar pancakes as an app- the pancakes were fantastic, the butter on the side was simple but brought something extra to the dish. We do the gin spritz like drinks- they are super refreshing but not heavy on the pour. For mains we did buffalo wings, a steak salad, and the spicy burger. Portion sizes here were huge - you can definitely leave with leftovers. The wings were super saucy and the salad was made to perfection. The spicy burger was good but I think can leave off the avocado - it makes the burger hard to eat and it slides all over the place, leaving structural damage to the brioche bun. The spicy sweet jalapnos were a great touch though! The burger quality was decent but definitely could be a bit more elevated. Overall nice stop in- large portions and nice service! read more

We hadn't been to Old Dominion Tavern in over a year, decided to give them another try. Uck! Picked a salad with rubarb salad dressing and grilled salmon. Received a 2 1/2 inch salmon for $9 extra. The dressing was gross I asked for it on the side, it came on the salad! Coming back it wasn't the same salad, they put the small salmon on it. My husband got Fish and Chips, the fish tasted like it was fried twice the crust was so hard he couldn't cut with the side of his fork. Little bitty cole slaw and it wasn't tasty at all! The home made chips were hard and cooked too much. This restaurant should rethink its location. read more

ODT consistently has good food and drinks. Nice spot for a local dinner, Happy Hour, or just meet up spot for drinks. The only gap at times has been service. They have recently added some new staff though and hit a home run with Olivia G. Went to dinner tonight with my wife and a couple best friends and Olivia was fantastic! I've been into the Olde Dominion Tavern twice now - both times for breakfast. Both times I sat at the bar. The first visit - I tried out the Biscuits with Sausage Gravy with two eggs over easy. The second visit - I went with the Country Breakfast: Two eggs (over easy), bacon, breakfast potatoes (extra crispy), and wheat toast. Both meals were solid and tasty. Good food with a Virginia twist in a warm pub atmosphere. Case in point the B.A.L.T. (Bacon, Avocado, Lettuce and Tomato) sandwich which has fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese and a spicy aioli. Definitely not your average BLT. Portion sizes (especially salads) are huge. I was there with a group of ladies and most ended up taking home a good portion of their meals. Everything was delicious and our server, Matt, couldn't have been nicer. Staying on top of drink orders and keeping the waters topped up. I had a brunch cocktail the Iced Virginian - coffee reduction, whiskey, coffee liqueur, and cream. Delicious and refreshing and decently priced at $12. For my entree I had the slow braised short rib grilled cheese without arugula. The sandwich was hot and gooey and very yummy. The house made chips on the side were nicely cooked but a bit too salty for me. The service was attentive and prompt. The location has convenient parking in a shopping center. There are a variety of seating options (booths, high tops, low,tables with club chairs, outdoors). When you walk in, the vestibule is filled with photos of dogs - which made the visit even better. We have been at this spot twice for brunch recently, and we had completely different experiences from each visit. On the first visit, it was empty, so we had an amazing service. On the second visit, the service was really slow. It was also really crowded, and it looked like they were understaffed. Our server wasn't familiar with the menu at all. However, food was delicious in both visits with some hiccups (steak had to be refired). The place is quite spacious and we had enough room for ourselves even though the place was busy. I'm not sure where to start. I say this because I didn't get any pictures of the appetizers we ordered but just know they were phenomenal. To start we got the wings, the short rib and the baked Brie & omg was it delicious. Then there was the fried chicken entree and I know what you're thinking that's a lot of chicken but trust it was so worth the calories. They literally give you a WHOLE half of chicken so I just shared that with my husband with a side of truffle Mac and brussel sprouts. To say that we really enjoyed our meal and the service would be an understatement. Our server Hayden killed it!! He was the best and very attentive. I ordered the steak and brussels salad. Imagine my disappointment when there were actually ZERO brussel sprouts. Literally, there were 10 charred brussel leaves...like the remnants of actual roasted Brussels sprouts. The seven small bites of steak were so tough that I could barely chew them. Honestly, I can't say a single bad thing about our first experience here. To start, the cocktails were on point and made quickly - even though it was peak time on a Friday night. The old fashioned, martinis, and other specialty cocktails were awesome. Bonus points for the surplus being in an iced carafe rather than iced and melting in your glass. The half portion of the Caesar was huge, and im slightly obsessed with the lemon butter sauce the scallops came with. There was surprise pasta (or I missed it on the menu, which is possible) and it paired perfectly with the sauce. The truffle mac and the chicken were also delicious, and the service was quick and on point. Definitely looking forward to more regular visits since it's near where I live. If you are ever in the Haymarket area you NEED to stop by this restaurant. My husband and I stopped in for a quick lunch before we head out for our Memorial Day trip and we were incredibly impressed. I got the BALT sandwich with French fries and my husband got the Hot chicken sandwich! Our server Erika was incredibly helpful with what the menu consisted of and was very polite. So I've eaten here about 5 times. It is OK, but at first glance it seems expensive. In reality some items are and some are not. The difference is portion size and quality. Yesterday I had the spicy chicken sandwich and my wife had the rosemary chicken sandwich. Both sandwiches were excellent and some of the freshest and juiciest checkin breast I have ever had. The portion sizes were large so for $15 each, I felt it was worth it. The only negative is the bottom piece of bread on my sandwich was soggy. Also, not really a fan of their style of French fries but I asked for extra crispy and they were cooked perfectly. This is purely a texture issue for me so can't fault them. Also, I had an appetizer which was the venison chili - surprisingly good but $10 for a bowl of chili is expensive. I'm not a fan of venison due to it being too gamy but this was not gamy at all so the flavor was appealing. Overall a good experience and our server Zack was awesome. read more

We came in on a Friday evening and the hostess asked if we had reservations (we didn't) but we were still seated quickly near the bar. Of course it was pretty loud for a while but it seemed to settle down after a bit which I was thankful for. We never saw her again and was never brought a fork. Thankfully the table next to us had an unused set of utensils. It wasn't busy at all. It took over 30 minutes to get our food. Yelp removed my review for some reason, I just want to say this is not a DVCC restaurant, this is a Haymarket Restaurant that has been re-worked in the same image for the last 20 years and just does not work for the locale. Lots of dudes at the bar raising hell at whatever sporting event on the tube, drafty high tops of all sorts (mostly older) people from the 55+ behind us, and a couple of servers who couldn't figure out who was serving us. Their grilled oysters are excellent as is the country breakfast ( best grape jelly I've ever had!) and the kale and romaine Caesar is delicious.
