Wow, what a beautiful interior! The bar area is gorgeous and it's a very open and inviting space. I went here on a Saturday afternoon with my dad and sister and they weren't busy at all, maybe two other tables were there. Our waitress was very friendly and didn't bother us often despite the slow day. We started with the calamari and the baked spinach and artichoke crab dip. I pretty much always love calamari, so not much to report there. But, this crab dip! Yum! I love the addition of the crab to the classic spinach and artichoke dip and it came out piping hot. It's creamy, cheesy, and perfectly scoop-able with the tortilla chips. Our entrees: Jack's Special - capellini, shrimp, crabmeat, scallops, white wine lemon butter sauce Mushroom Risotto & Filet Tips - blackened filet mignon tips, wild mushroom risotto, butter, parmesan Tortellini Crema Rosa - cheese tortellini, chicken, mushrooms, rose cream sauce I ordered the tortellini crema rosa entree, but I also decided to try the Drunken Smoked Bacon Mussels (garlic, shallots, dijon creme fraiche, crostini). Now, I ordered this because I'm used to mussel appetizers only having like four mussels, so I figured I might as well try it. However, it's a large portion! They were delicious - it's served with a fantastic broth that the crostini soaks up wonderfully. I found myself eating the mussels more than my pasta, so yay for leftovers! My pasta sauce was perfectttt! It was thick, bold, and flavorful. I'm especially impressed because I tried my dad's plate, Jack's Special, and preferred mine over his seafood, which is a rare occasion for me. Like I mentioned, I took home leftovers because I also tried the mussels, but otherwise the portion sizes here are perfect. They aren't heaping plates of average tasting pasta, or teeny-tiny presentations of high-end pasta. The perfect portion for a delicious meal. The mushroom risotto and filet tips -- wow. The meat was incredibly tender and super red on the inside. My sister ordered medium rare and I would say it came out a tad more on the rare side, but for her (and me) that is noooo problem. I would rather have a juicy, succulent piece of meat than something overcooked! The risotto was cooked perfectly and, again, great portion size. For a place with great food and great service I am saddened to give such a negative review. The terrible rating has nothing to do with what they have to offer but what they allow to transpire inside their establishment. This is my 3rd time coming back, hoping beyond hope that my other times were just a fluke. Bottom line... this place is filled with loud mouthed fools, rude bores, and people that drink heavily, vomit in the corners, and treat others around them disrespectfully. Server was good. We sat outside since the weather was unusually warm for this time of year. A little slow getting served outside. I ordered the 1/2 chicken meal with tomatoes/rice and broccoli. Chicken was very dry, it was supposed to have a "zesty" rub but it wasn't at all. Rice was delicious. Broccoli was soggy and overcooked. This place is cute and has large enough tables to accommodate a decent sized group. I came here with a few friends and our moms. I got the Hula Pig Slides with BBQ Pulled Pork, Pineapple, Cilantro, Jalapeños and Coleslaw. They were tasting but nothing amazing. I also subbed the fries for a side salad which was an extra 3 dollar bringing my lunch to almost 17 dollars a little steep for the amount of food I got. My sisters carbonara was overloaded with difficult to eat onions, which seemed like there were way too many but still food was good overall. I was with a party of 8 on a Saturday at 6:30. We did call ahead so we were seated immediately which was nice. We asked our server what she would recommend to order and she stated, she wasn't sure. I got the chicken piccata which had a price point of $18. It was a split bland, non seasoned over cooked dry chicken breast that they put piccata sauce on also on the plate was a serving of pasta with a marinara sauce (which I have ever had, usually chicken piccata comes on a bed of pasta, usually angle hair or spaghetti) with the piccata sauce on the pasta and 2 small heads of under cooked broccoli. No bread or salad. My daughter got the spaghetti and ,eat balls which was so salty she wouldn't eat it. My other daughter got the chicken Marsala which was the same os my chicken piccata. Husband paid $17 for fish and chips which was tasted of frozen pre-made fish, 3 pieces and fries. I LOVE to support local small businesses but this was WAY over priced, food was mediocre or inedible. Not only did my to go order take 40 minutes which OK fine whatever that's not even what I'm upset about what I'm upset about is waiting 45 minutes to then get my dinner my arugula pizza is drenched in balsamic reduction my curly fries are so fried that they're not even edible. Been here many times..Carmellos too. Came here the night before Thanksgiving; wow packed with young people! Alanna, the hostess/server/bartender/everything greeted us at entry and promptly set us up with a table top in the bar where we usually go. The place kept getting louder and more packed and we had to move for our own sanity to eat dinner. Alanna moves us over to a closed off section and our dinners were delivered within minutes. WOW Monza what a gem Alanna is; been coming here for decade + and enjoyed excellent service, but nothing like Alanna's taking care of us! The oysters Rockefeller was the only thing worth the money. All the Tapas taste like they came from 7-eleven and over priced. Got two glasses of Sangria @ $10.50 each! Wow! This past weekend my boyfriend and I enjoyed a second meal here at Monza . As was the case during our last visit we were treated to a delicious dining experience ! I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to make special mention of General Manager Gabey and Waiter Kyle both employed at this restaurant . Each of them were so very gracious , kind and helpful as I grappled with how to accomodate my dietary restrictions. Gabey made sure the chef prepared a tastey meal for me that kept my "belly happy"! And Kyle treated yours truly and my "culinary limitations " with such respect ! My boyfriend was able to enjoy a plateful of oysters ( one of his favorite foods)! Parking throughout the old town area surrounds Monza. Compared to DC and it's suburbs, parking is nothing to worry about. We had the blackberry sangria, the ahi tuna half order appetizer, the cheese board, I had the small spinach salad and my husband had a sandwich. Drinks and appetizers were wonderful, salad was a salad bar at best (dressing in a container on the side, so it's no type of salad I couldn't have done myself, and I probably could've done better). My husband's sandwich was pretty good. Nice wait staff who hustle and really worked hard while people were eager to dine outside on a nice day. Monza is a bit far from me to go out of my way to come to, but if I was ever in the neighborhood, I'd probably go back. From what I understand, it's a rebuild of a restaurant that had burned down, and is now newly-named, and has a new direction in food service. I never made it inside as we sat at a large table outside on a lovely spring night. First, my husband and I loved the Caesar Salad. We would come back just for that. Full disclosure. I was visiting my best friend, whom I hadn't seen in months, so I was already in a spectacular mood. The best friend and I always split everything when we go out to eat together. And this meal was no different. We ordered white sangria ($7), oysters rockafeller ($10), Monza salad ($5.50), Tuscany pizza ($12), and tiramisu ($7). Everything was as described on the menu and had great flavor profiles. The stand out was the oysters. And I don't even like oysters. I have been craving them since I ate here last Friday. Price seemed just slightly high for only 5 oysters, but they were divine. We were surprised that the small salad was actually large enough for us to split, and we ended up with pizza left over. We were very full by the time we left. Service was great. There when we needed it and never overbearing. The food came out quickly and in the proper order too. We took advantage of the free dessert offered for checking in on Yelp. Thanks! Live music was starting up as we were getting ready to leave, and there seemed to be a good group gathering around the musician. Upgrade to 5 stars ... I finally had the chance to have a full meal at Monza last night, and it was fantastic.. The wife and I arrived at about 6:30PM Saturday night to the normal weekend crowd. Monza is becoming a hot spot in Manassas, and they get really crowded Fridays and Saturdays. We were lucky to snag a seat at the bar and we stayed there for ... umm ... quite a while :-) Wife and I both enjoyed the risotto fritters and and the pizza is fantastic. We ordered a Margherita and added mushrooms (which, as I told the wife, makes it no longer a Margherita, but we love mushrooms) and much later, after a few libations, ordered a 5 cheese pizza, which I liked even better. Speaking of drinks, we discovered that they have a great list of specialty martinis that made the wife happy. And of course, there is the AWESOME beet selection. They have 9 taps of great craft beers (many of them local) and an impressive bottled beer selection with unique offerings that you would normally only find at Total Wine. And the bartender told me they plan to add 4 more taps and rotate more local and seasonal brews. Monza is becoming a very popular spot in Old Town Manassas because of great beer, great food, and a fun crowd and atmosphere. read more

While visiting family we had chance to eat at Monza and it was a great experience from beginning to end. Despite a short wait we were seated and had calamari for an appetizer and it was very good. Service was efficient despite restaurant being very busy I had the full portion of Ahi tuna and it was outstanding. In a town full of sports bars, Monza is a rare oasis. It is classy, but not stuffy and is the perfect place for a quiet lunch or an afternoon drink. When I asked about how long Monza had been open, one of the staff took me on a tour of the attached Carmello's public and private dining rooms, the wine room, and we got to look in at what appeared to be a clean, well-run kitchen. The interior is beautiful. After hours, if they turned down the lights and put on some Bossa nova, you could make Monza a lounge. Drinks are poured strong enough to stun a mule. The contents of the bar lean strongly towards premium brands and some lesser-known spirits. Monza also benefits from the Carmello's wine room, which is a bonus that is not immediately obvious. I tried the Margherita pizza. It was a rare treat with a thin crispy crust, a perfect balance of tomato, mozzarella, basil and just enough garlic to let you know it was there. The entree pizzas would easily feed two for a light lunch. When the pizza arrived, I immediately checked the crust in the center and it was perfectly crispy. However, over the next 15 or so minutes, I found that the crust started to absorb the sauce, making the last couple of pieces soggy in the middle. I think this might be where the source of some reviewers complaints come from. The pizza is made to be eaten immediately. If things are busy, and the pizza spends 10 minutes waiting to be taken out to a table, it's ruined from the start. I plan to come here more often, and definitely intend to see if they can make a classic Martini. The only issue I could find? The excellent local draft beer selection had Miller Light at the top of the list. It should have been added to the bottom, as an afterthought for the kind of person who orders steak at a seafood restaurant. read more

Saw that Monza was rated with the best outdoor seating in Northern Virginia, so decided to visit Old Town Manassas to see it. The outdoor seating is lovely. The blackberry sangria was heavenly and I sat under a few fans on a hot day. The menu had a great selection - we split appetizers. The pizza rolls were something I can't wait to recreate - they had pesto, arugula, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, chicken and tomato sauce on the side. The sliders and side house salad were good and the curly fries were perfectly fried. The server was really friendly and quick. Prices were reasonable as well - didn't realize this was a sister restaurant of Carmello's next door. Definitely prefer this to the more stiff atmosphere next door. BIG TIP: Waitress told us all pastas are $4.00 off before 4 o'clock. Nice. There really isn't much to say bad about Monzas except for the fact that being in downtown, parking might be a problem. They could add a little variety to the menu - (the selections are a little limited to pizza and pasta mostly). And I'm not a fan of the raised bar-stool tables. This is a casual upscale dining spot with a very good beer selection. I don't drink wine, but their wine list was quite extensive and their drink menu had fun sounding options. Parking can be tricky and I've heard the place is sometimes crowded. Lucky for me, I stopped in on a rainy Saturday night and none of that stuff was an issue. Arancini. Put that on your must taste list. Meatball size bites of risotto shaped into balls and filled with mozzarella then deep fried. These were super crispy on the outside and creamy tender inside. Just perfect! Meat and cheese plate. It was a very big portion. I would say large enough to share among four people. Salami, prosciutto, spicy coppa & assorted cheeses. All fresh and tasty. Now pizza. Nice chewy crust with that great wood oven taste. I ordered the primavera which had sweet roasted peppers and mushrooms with just the right amount of cheese.
