Ate here Friday night with my wife. I initially wanted to order their pizza, but they were out, which was understandable since it was a busy night. Instead we both ordered the ravioli off their special menu. When the meals came we were shocked to discover it consisted of 4 raviolis each, at $16 a plate. While it tasted fine we felt ripped off paying $32 for 8 raviolis, and we left hungry. Would not go back. read more

Went for lunch today. Very impressed with salads we ordered and the service. Our waitress, Maggie, was incredibly friendly and attentive. We ended up sitting outside for over 2 hours chatting and she continued to make sure we had plenty to drink, etc. I ordered the arugula salad and added blackened salmon and it was delish! This is a good spot to hit if you're in Manassas and want a fun place to get a couple drinks. The bar was full and very diverse in terms of its clientele (this made for awesome people watching, making the nite extremely entertaining). It was like a humorous war between two very different customer groups who were changing the juke box between country and hip hop. And then a couple folks playing classic rock. It was hilarious. Great beer selection and good prices. The bar itself has a nice vibe and set up well. Lots of good little nooks and crannies to sit in and enjoy the people-watching and the drinking. read more

We had a fantastic reasonably priced meal with great service. The Lasagna was great and a huge portion, Meat and cheese appetizer was great, kids loved the Pizza and the spaghetti and meatballs. Very disappointed. Every time we sit outside the service is not up to par. The wait staff seem as if it is their first day. And we have had this experience with Monza the last four times we have visited. And twice before we walked out because no one ever served us. It took more than 10 minutes for staff to approach us once seated today, and it was NOT busy. Our son ordered biscuits and gravy off of the brunch menu and the order had not nearly enough gravy. So I immediately asked for a side of gravy. 10 minutes later it came out, our son was done with his meal. The staff is not properly trained and the kitchen lacks sufficient quality control. The biscuits should have never come out of the kitchen looking so sparse. And a well-trained wait staff would have pushed back on the kitchen. This was Monza's last chance with us. We won't be back. However their sister restaurant Carmelo's HAS NEVER been a disappointment. read more

I will say that my husband and I have frequented Monza a lot in the past since it's been opened. As well as it's sister restaurant Carmellos. The food is on point and we enjoy eating there. Unfortunately though I don't know that we will ever go back. The first strike was a summer or two ago. We were on the patio hoping to enjoy some music and have some drinks. Too bad the server barely paid any attention to us. After about 30 minutes of waiting and wanting a drink to enjoy my husband went to the bar himself to order us drinks. Meanwhile, the owner(s) strut in with their family and get seated and waited on immediately and frequently, all the while while we sit and wait to be served. That's what left a bad taste in my mouth. My husband observed multiple staff members bending over backwards at the bar to try to figure out how to make the drinks that they ordered and then when my husband finally got his drinks we ordered at the bar they tasted terrible with little effort made. The last straw was recently we went for an early dinner with our kids. We try to sit outside when we bring out kids. There were two hostesses outside who spoke to us and got us seated outside right away. They sat us at the table right in front of the area/door where the servers come in and out of the restaurant. So we were right in clear view of everyone coming and going. Also the stroller jutted our at little, not obstructing the walkway, but they would need to move over a little when walking by. My point is we weren't invisible as we were in clear view, not shoved in a corner somewhere. But since the moment we were seated we were treated as if we were invisible. Again, we sat for about 20-30 minutes and no one waited on or acknowledged us. Many staff walked right by us as we tried to make eye contact with someone. Next to us a table got seated after us, was waited on promptly, and had ordered and received their drinks. By the time 20-30 minutes had passed our window of time with our kids was shrinking and our patience was growing thin. Frustrated I finally asked a staff member passing by if anyone was going to wait on us. The hostess uttered "yeah" and disappeared into the inside of the restaurant. At that point, we were annoyed, so we left across the street to Public House where we were seated right away. I could see across the street where we were seated and observed someone else get seated and served their drinks within 5-10 minutes of being seated. From my observation we were the only people outside with younger children-they are pretty well behaved and we are respectful of others and will leave if they get disruptive. Maybe they didn't want to wait on us because we had kids. Whatever the cause I don't know that I'll be back which is a shame bc their food is good. This restaurant needs to focus on customer service-because after all, WE are the ones who make their business successful! read more

Went to Monza for dinner with a couple of friends on a Saturday night. The indoor seating is pretty limited, and was all full up, so we ended up sitting at one of the outdoor tables. Not ideal on a chilly fall evening, but we didn't want to look for another restaurant. Between the three of us, we had an order of risotto fritters, the four cheese ravioli, and two Jack's Specials, as well as several drinks. The risotto fritters were a little disappointing -- they were mostly mozzarella, the risotto felt like more of an afterthought than a significant component. Everything else was absolutely fantastic, though. I was particularly pleased with my four cheese ravioli. Putting alfredo sauce on top of cheese ravioli is a risky move, since it can very easily veer into "too much cheese" territory, but Monza balanced it perfectly. I stole a taste of one of the orders of Jack's Special, and that was delicious as well. I will probably shoot for a weeknight next time I go to Monza, just so I don't have to worry about getting stuck outside if the weather isn't ideal, but I will definitely be returning. read more

My wife originally made reservations at Carmellos, where we have dined on a few occasions. Somehow the staff at Carmellos messes up our reservation and we decided to try their sister restaurant, Monza. We had visitors in from out of town and the consensus from all was as follow; food was good, staff was pleasant and efficient and the prices were reasonable. Portions are not huge but it was enough to send us all away satisfied but not stuffed. It's also less formal than Carmellos which depending on what you're looking for, may be a good thing. Went to Monzas for dinner on Saturday night and ordered the Pasta Special for $25. It was tagged as a linguini dish with scallops, shrimp, clams, and mussels. Yes it was an extremely small amount of linguini (side portion amount) and 2 shrimp with tails on, 2 scallops, 2 Mussels in the shell, and about 5 clams in the shell with cooked spinach. I asked to see the manager in regards to the small amount of food for $25. The manager, a short older lady came to my table with an attitude and a look on her face of disgust, and told me that was the portion size. It was obvious, that she made up her mind before she came to the table that she didn't have the time for me questioning anything. I was told by her she would take it under consideration and with that walked off. Well I'm not considering my future visits to this restaurant, I am never going back!!!!! The fact that the manager could have probably satisfied me with anything (maybe 2 additional shrimp, a scallop, a mussel, anything but attitude) would have kept me from writing this review and deciding never to come back. Not a very good example of customer service. Not a good example to the employees of caring about what the customer thinks. But I will say that the food is overpriced, not an overly spectacular taste you get no side salads with entree's, you get to pay $6 for a salad. Ms Manager - good luck read more

I wish there were more places like Monza's and Carmello's in Manassas. Although both could seriously benefit from some vegetarian choices, the atmosphere is sophisticated for the area and the staff is always super nice and informative. Whoever runs both establishments needs to limit the menu at Carmello's and I suspect the food reviews would improve greatly for both establishments if smaller menus were presented-perhaps that incorporate specials from the local farmer's market. Just think how much more foodie cred the place would have if they used fruit for their sangrias from the farmer's market, fresh lettuce from the market-or whatever else is in season at that point. It would certainly be a real draw for the community. read more

Having been fans of Carmellos, we were among the first to try Monza. At first we were very pleased and came often for family dinners and couples nights. The staff was attentive, and the shared kitchen with Carmellos allowed us to order from their menu in a more relaxed atmosphere. Then the downhill slide started. Now neither my wife or I or any of the couples we used to frequent Monza with will set foot in the place. Why? The staff became more interested in being a part of loud boisterous crowds Instead of serving the remaining customers. The owners/managers used to make the rounds ensuring their customers were happy. Now you are lucky to be able to pull them away from their favored customers if you have a question. On different occasions the staff has insulted me and other former regulars. Oh, and don't even ask about ordering anything off Carmellos menu. Ain't happening. I'm giving two stars because the food is good - once it finally gets there, but the staff, starting with the management, has driven out many customers. Fortunately, Old Town Manassas has a good selection of great food. If you want the ambiance of the live street music, just go across the street to Okras (which is what I did on my last insulting visit). If you want a nice relaxing family or couples night, go three blocks and visit Robert and Susanna at City Square Cafe. If you want a real nice date night, you're just a short walk from Malones. Keep walking to any of these, and you'll be well taken care of. read more

We've been years long patrons, and love the Jake's special, came in for dinner one night and tried the beer burger and the fried fish sandwich. Both were really tasty-the fish sandwich was perfectly cooked, lightly breaded, with a thick and large piece of cod. The beer burger with caramelized onions and mushrooms had an aoli mayo and stout finish-just delicious. Both of us had sweet potato fries-really wonderful-crunchy without being dry. Service is attentive- the vibe is fun- in the summer it sounds like they've got live music now for a outdoor seating- worth the visit! read more

Terrible service and wine prices! My friend and I were not greeted when we walked in this afternoon even though there were several employees standing around near the door. They just looked at us and continued to talk amongst themselves. They did not seat us or give us a menu. After asking where to sit and later asking for menus, we ordered overly priced drinks (the only kind on the menu). The music in this place was blaring with 80's glam rock. So cheesy. We tried to move to another seat to get away from the speakers, but the new table across the room provided us with no relief. Several minutes later, we were asked by another server what we would like to eat. We asked for a couple of minutes and no one never returned! Mind you, the restaurant was nearly empty. Again, many of the employees were standing around talking to each other. After about 20 minutes, we approached the owner. I told him what had happened and his excuse was that it was a change of shifts. He seemed more interested in finding out which server had forgotten us, although that was not the only problem we had. We did not get an apology, so i said we were going across the street to okras to eat. He said fine and walked away. He acted like he could care less. Unbelievable. We paid for our drinks and left. On a positive note, we had a warm and attentive waiter named Brise at okras...should have went there from the start since we wasted so much time at Monza trying to give them our business. The atmosphere is visually nice but wrecked by extremely loud music. The pizzas are disappointing. According to the menu, they are baked in a brick oven. However, the crust is soggy. Also, the Margherita pizza was loaded with garlic, which was not mentioned on the menu and was a very unpleasant surprise to this garlic hater. read more

Great spot, was there on Friday and had amazing ambiance with the street music playing. Food was great except the portions of some of the apps. The BBs BBQ rolls were Phenomenally tasting but were excruciatingly small for the price. I felt cheated by them and I just wanted more. Also the jacks special was over priced for the amount provided. We ordered a few appetizers and the mussels we ordered tasted terrible and undercooked they also smelled bad...when we sent them back the bartender also said he noticed the bad smell yet still served them to us my husband and I got sick within one hour of eating and will never recommend this restaurant again which used to be one of our favorite spots in the past.
