I'll admit, I was hesitant to try Peri Peri at first since I've always stuck with their competitor, Nando's. But I'm so glad I gave it a shot--it completely won me over! The crispy chicken was cooked to with the right amount of crunch. I've already been back twice in a month because I had to try the Nash and Smash sandwich. Yes, you read that right--a chicken sandwich and a beef patty together. It's as wild sounding, but somehow works great! If you're into spice, I'd recommend going for the spiciest level. Personally, I didn't find it super spicy, but it added great flavor without being overwhelming. Peri Peri has definitely earned a spot in my rotation. Can't wait to go back! read more

A Friday or Saturday night family meal establishment for us. Finally doing a review! Our menu items of choice are the veggies burgers with fries (seasoned and unseasoned). A soda always comes with any meal you order. Recently we tried the mango mojitos (non- alcoholic) which were great! The staff are always friendly and the burgers are always delicious. Posting this review the day after eating.... I'm craving it so bad!!! This food was GOOD. I will say, the chicken was really dry for my chicken over rice but the white and red sauce they gave made up for it. It tastes just so homemade too. Just cut a piece of chicken, eat it with the rice with the sauces all in there and.... **chefs kiss** Nashville hot chicken sandwich was delicious too!! Kinda a a small patty but it's delicious oh my gosh!! They have plenty seats inside. There menu is huge. Trust me, try this place out! Location is known for their grilled chicken! I ordered the honey garlic chicken sandwich and potato wedges. The chicken was small and overcooked to the point of being very dry. What saved the sandwich was the white and red sauce that came with the entree. The potato wedges were ordered for nostalgia purposes and were under seasoned. The cost of the meal was pricey considering the underwhelming quality of the meal, if they fix the overcooking and season properly, they have a good chance of competing with other chicken spots. Ambiance was a bit disappointing with tables and chairs in a disarray and didn't seem very appealing to be around on the interior. Ordered 3 different chicken sandwiches, all of them had extremely thin chicken pieces heavily caked in breading. Literally 3-4 millimeter thin slices of chicken smaller the bun, caked in solid, crunchy breading to make them look massive. All 3 sandwiches inedible and wasted. read more

We were visiting for a wedding from Pennsylvania and found this place. We were welcomed by Mr Yousuf and were recommended for American burger which was scrumptious. The burger was juicy and tasty. The Chicken crunchy burger was also very yummy and of course their signature peri peri chicken. Kids loved the environment and the hospitality given by Mr Yousuf. We enjoyed our food and time there. Stopped by Peri Peri Original to have a casual Birthday diner for my dad. I was pleased to see plenty of free outdoor parking just around the corner from the restaurant and glad that we came in moments before the dinner rush and were able to snag a table. I would recommend ordering ahead because our order did take a while (about 40 minutes) and I overheard a couple of items being sold-out on the menu as well. The staff members running the cash register was kind, polite, and patient. When our food did arrive, I felt that it did not stay warm for too long but we ate it just the same given how hungry my family and I were at this point in the evening. My order of tenders was not as flavorful as I thought it would be, but perhaps that was my mistake of going with a more mild flavor (lemon herb) when I should have gone for something spicer. My parents enjoyed their combo platter and so did my sister. My husband ordered a sandwich which was fairly good. I appreciated that the meat was cooked well and was good quality. The honey garlic chicken was good, but the Nashville was not "Nashville" enough, I opted for medium, but it didn't have any hot taste to it (they could've accidentally done mild). The fries were decent, nothing to rave about and nothing bad either. The "spicy" rice was also not spicy and lacking in flavor, tasted very very bland. I saw a foodie I follow get a chicken wrap from here and it looked amazing. I drove very far in traffic to get this wrap. I walk in and the young man at the register was kind, but lacked knowledge of the menu. I ordered the wrap. He then asked it I wanted to make it a combo, I say sure and ask about the side options. He says "fries, rice and coleslaw, but we are out of fries and rice". So I paid the combo upcharge for the what ended up being disgusting store bought coleslaw. As I'm waiting for my wrap a young lady calls me up and tells me they are out of wraps.... so there's nothing to make my wrap, no fries and no rice. Great. She offered me a refund, but like I said I drove far so didn't want to leave hungry. I settled for the chicken pita which was underwhelming. The chicken was dry as was the pita bread. Ok so I feel bad about choosing this location as the one we got food from is not listed yet. The peri peri original x kallista steakhouse on Eads st. In Arlington is the absolute worst. We went in on Saturday at 6 P.M. and we were kindly greeted by a young woman who was ready to take our order. As we ordered, she had a slightly confused look on her face and was glancing at the kitchen. We paid our $30 for our half chicken with Pita and potato wedges. The young lady asked us to have a seat while we waited for our food so we did about eight minutes and she came over to tell us that they were out of chicken. This was confusing as the place was based on chicken and not a steak house. so we question that and asked her if they could really be able to chicken so she went to check again. We watched as someone pulled a chicken out of a steamer and started to cook it on a grill. Then we also watched as our pita was being microwave from frozen and slapped on the grill. The wedges seemed fine so eight minutes later 16 minutes total we got our food and decided to pull it out of the bag and check it. It was very subpar and it looked more like half a pigeon not a chicken. I asked the young lady if there was the manager or CEO, who is being broadcast on the counter and she pointed to a gentleman sitting in the front of the restaurant on his computer, I walked up to him and asked him if he was the purveyor of the restaurant and he said yes as he stared his computer screen, I asked if I could have a moment of his time and he said you can talk as he still stared at his computer screen. I told him that, you cannot run a Restaurant Crystal City at 6 PM and expect anyone to have good food if you are out of the items you are known for having. I asked if he would acknowledge me and he slammed down his computer screen and said WHAT! I asked him if he was concerned at all that his customers were asking questions and trying to find out if things would get better? His response was to shrug his shoulders and look back to his computer. So we took our food four blocks home and plated it up. The Chicken was ice cold and so dry my husband could not and would not eat it. The Pita was even more Dry and he said if he wanted to eat cardboard he could go to the recycling bin. The wedges were actually pretty damn good, but between the other items and the owner's attitude we will never return, and quite frankly not encourage anyone else to. Especially when there are many great Peri chicken places close by. I will say because they just opened the atmosphere was very clean and inviting. But not worth visiting. Horrifically understaffed. Disorganized. Wrong food. Now, do not place the blame on the overworked employees there. There is no leadership, no direction. So of course things go wrong. NUMBER ONE: MANAGEMENT. You need to hire more people on the clock!!! 3 is not enough for the volume of orders you get. By 8:15 I waited for about an hour for my order (I was told it would take "15 minutes" and I was in a hurry. My mistake...) which ended up being completely scrambled. On the plus side, I think (?) I got the chicken sandwich I ordered. It was somehow both dry and questionably cooked-through. It however came with a strange box of chicken... wings? and tortillas I did not ask for or want. My only advice to the people working there is to please just be more honest with customers and yourselves about how long orders will take. Please do not say the order will be ready in 15 minutes if it will take 4 times that long. Sometimes people have to leave for very important things and need people to be honest about time. We've ordered our twice now since the quarantine, and they've both been generally good experiences. The bottom line is this: it tastes like food you'd get at someone's house - a place where a grandmother has been slaving away in the kitchen all day. They offer four different marinades for their chicken: lemon pepper, mango lime, hot, and very hot. The first time I got the chicken burrito (hot) - wonderful! The chicken was juicy and spiced just right, the veggies were fresh, and the flavors all completed each other. My only complaints were that the red onions were huge and used in abundance - I ended up pulling most of them out. Also, the thin flour tortilla doesn't hold up very well. If they just grilled it really quickly first, it would make a huge difference. The second time I ordered enough to make sure I had leftovers: chicken tacos (hot), spicy rice, and a side of wings (mango lime). The chicken tacos were honestly kind of disappointing: they weren't bad, but the way they construct their tacos (salsa/hot sauce, lettuce and tomatoes on the bottom) left the tacos pretty soggy. And again, a single floppy flour tortilla for each taco didn't help matters. The wings, however, were fantastic! The char marks really imbue all the great flavors of the grill, and the mango lime marinade was balanced and complex. But really, it's that moment that you mix the chicken with the lemon-cream sauce that they provide tons of with each order that takes these wings from "good" to an almost religious experience. It's actually very reminiscent of the yellow aji amarillo sauce you get at Peruvian chicken places. The spicy rice was not spicy, but the chopped grilled bits of peppers make for a pleasant texture and flavor. I ended up throwing some more of that lemon-cream sauce in the rice and enjoyed it much more. Looking forward to going back a third time! read more

So I've eaten here 3 times now, and i can't stop wanting more! Trust me when i say, this place is so much better than Nandos, and i love Nandos just for the convenience aspect of it and the sauces. Peri Peri portion seems much bigger, and juicier than Nandos. I live directly in front if a Nandos and for some reason my chicken is always burnt a nd my fries are hard as a rock. The lemon & herb flavor chicken is so delicious here. This place is almost perfect for me, the fries are good, the chicken is juicy and big, the service is good and its halal! Although the sauces are limited, they make it extra special. I always have a craving for the Lemon & herb. Only downside for me is the location, i have to drive about 30 min to get there. They do not carry the same items as Nando's, but they do carry the chicken and the flavors. They do not have the sauces outside, so you can't get any extras. They also have burgers. They have many different options of shakes. I can't judge them based on not being the restaurant I thought it was but instead on the actual restaurant. Their service was quick and efficient, the place was clean and their prices are very reasonable. They were constantly busy. The restaurant itself does have a carry out type of vibe. Didn't really get the full experience, due to them being out of onions of all things. So my Burger was bland also the beef taco's need work or just switch the recipe to streak tacos. The beef one were literally ground beef. The cilantro was the only thing that made the tacos bearable. However I will try them again hopefully they have onions this time. read more

So let me preface this by saying the crispy chicken sandwich was closer to a 4.5 bc it was perfectly cooked chicken and the bun was buttery and great - it just lacked sauce. The main reason I came though was for the famous flavor and grill style chicken we see at nando's or other peri peri's. This was somewhat of a disappointment for me because the grilled chicken had no sauce on it and it didn't really have the presentation I drove the 30 minutes to find. I'm not sure if it was just the staff last night but it lacked all the excitement and it was just two pieces of plane chicken on a plate. The chicken ended up not being completely dry but we had to really sauce it down, to which we were also given a side tiny cup of sauce we were trying to douse it in. My overall recommendation to the business is to maintain the pizazz of presentation with the cute flag and making the chicken extra saucy and to not skimp on the details. The sauce on the chicken was also nasty, like from a can or in some way raw. The corn soup had no flavor besides some factory made packets and cups.
