Being the impatient person I am I accidentally filled my tank up with diesel fuel in my car stopped running I went into full panic mode and took it to a few shops my friends recommended and trusted I got ridiculous quotes one up to $1000 the guy told me he needed to replace my air filter my fuel pump May being a little girl I'm used to getting overpriced by mechanics so I knew immediately there was something wrong with that and I should look elsewhere everywhere else is telling me $600-$800 I started panicking thinking that was right luckily my roommate recommended the shop down the street from me I took it in and not only did he fix it for $166 but he filled up my tank and did it all within three hours of the same day I called! Found Monzon's as a CAP participant (they no longer are certified CAP) I am VERY happy I did. Finding a good honest and efficient mechanic who will listen to a woman and acknowledge that I have some auto knowledge is always a miracle! We have older cars that need care and Robert and Joe have ALWAYS been able to diagnose and repair. I really liked the prior visits and will continue to use them as they are convenient and do good work, BUT they were DISHONEST and that is a big deal in my book. I brought in my car for my 70K mile checkup and requested they complete the extra inspections and procedures listed in the owners' manual. The oil change and checkup came in at around $120. My real rub is that they had some work which simply did not need to be done which I was billed for. I had my air filter changed only a few thousand miles prior and they had change it 15k ago. No need to do this every 5k, right? $20, seems much higher than Jiffy lube at $5.99 per air filter. They did a couple of things without prior authorization and then handed me the bill expecting I'd just pay them. They are good, and I think good people, but they are salesmen and they will slip in little extras. They have also done some good work for me in the past. read more

Nice guys, but I took them several cars, I knew what was wrong in all cases. They misdiagnosed each one. I had to show them the problem, how it worked. What needed to be fixed. Geez. They aren't too expensive, but if you don't have an obvious problem that requires no diagnosis at all you may find you are paying for their fixing things that won't solve your problem. I'd use them for normal stuff. Brakes, etc. I'd be afraid of asking them to do diagnosis. read more

This place is Heaven sent!! Service is always great and very affordable. These guys are very honest and trustworthy. I had been getting all my scheduled maintenances on my Toyota for over 10 years, thinking I was in good hands. 3 years ago my car was making an awful noise. After having to leave it over the weekend at dealer because they couldn't find what was wrong with it, the head mechanic finally said I needed a new transmission. I was shocked!! Just picked up my car from joe. Ive had an energy draw killing my battery for 6 months. I went to 3 different places and they couldn't fix it, they just kept saying it was the alternator. I called joe as a last resort and decided to try one more time. Within 24 hours he had the problem fixed, it was an amp in my trunk that was faulty. I have taken several cars there and the work has been adequate in all cases. My F-150 was acting up (missing). They put a test device on it and found the #3 cylinder coil was bad. I think a more complicated issue would have challenged them but I have had good luck with every car. read more

Are you serious? This place is great. Here's my story. My quiet truck was sounding like a monster truck with offroad tires, the sound deafening and annoying. My trusty, local Dealership diagnosed an entirely different problem and told me needed a wheel alignment,buy a new set of tires which that alone would have cost me $900 minimum and some other repairs. Ok time to call around. A few of my friends and relatives told me about Monzon's Garage out in Fullerton. Fullerton from Long Beach area, why? There are plenty of garages in between. This Garage is a good 45 minutes from my residence without traffic, but as long as they've been around (50 years plus) and the reviews they get it made it that much easier to make the drive knowing it's a very low probability that I'd get ripped off. Joe and his father Roberto knew what was going on with it just by talking to me, before looking at it. They fixed up my Truck and got it working as good as new. Before Joe was done with my truck, he verified that I did NOT have to buy new tires I was so stoked! When I drove it home, it was back to a smooth, silent ride. It only gets 1 star, because I can't go any lower. Only bring your car to this garage if you don't need it anytime soon. It took them 4 days to change out a catalytic converter, and I *still* had to come back to finish the job with a smog check, because I would not let them keep the car another day. I was talked condescendingly to every time I asked a question, and when I made one request that they look at something that worked fine before, they belittle my intelligence and told me they can show me a sign that says they don't have to take responsibility for it. How anyone can expect repeat business with such lack of regard for their customers, I don't know. I would strongly recommend driving whatever extra milage it takes to find a reputable garage. Ive been coming here for 5 years now. They have kept my '99 GM (161k) alive and every year I have a little more faith I can squeeze another year out of it. They have always treated me fairly and they never overcharge me. (In fact, the fist couple of times after I brought the car home I would call around and ask for quotes just to see. I was always quoted 20-30 more everywhere else.) Family owned and operated and well known and liked in the community, they specialize in vintage autos but will happily work on domestic rides, too. I wont go anywhere else....ever. They've replaced my water pump and radiator, clutch, gear box, steering column, and today they replaced my breaks (all 4 wheels) and 2 rotors for under $400. A bargain!! They've helped stave off any really serious repairs and are always done in 1 day no matter how busy they are. If you live anywhere near here, GO!!! Awesome mechanics. read more

We have been going to Mr. Monzon's shop for years he is the only one I will trust to work on my vehicles. They have serviced my cars from major services to an oil change and my cars still run great, their diagnoses on my cars been accurate. Services are reasonable and honest. I was stranded in Oceanside on a Sunday evening and had no ideal how I would get my car home or to a shop. Not only did he pick up my car and take to there shop to service he accommodated my situation financially, now where will you ever get this type of service. Therefore I have to say Monzon's Garage has always been super accommodating and made the experience as pleasant as possible. I have NEVER written a review before, but really feel compelled to sing praises for Monzon Garage. I am a woman with absolutely no knowledge about cars, so know that I can be easily taken advantage of when it comes to any sort of car repairs or maintenance. My car had what looked like smoke (but luckily was just steam) coming from my car as I was driving to a business meeting in Fullerton. Fortunately, my meeting was just down the street from Monzon Garage. The staff was fantastic! They took the time to review the problem, also showing me the actual broken car part that needed to be replaced. They were friendly, honest and seem extremely knowledgeable and dependable. They went out of their way to get the needed replacement part, and got me back on way within just a few hours. Although I live about 20+ minutes away, I will definitely be back to Monzon Garage for for their trustworthy service. read more
