I haven't been to Moochies in a couple of years because I always thought their cheesesteaks were just OK, but today for lunch I was craving a Reuben and saw that Moochies has a Reuben sub - I ordered ahead online - the 6" Reuben and a side salad. My order was ready when I arrived and the staff was friendly. When I returned to my office to eat, I was pleasantly surprised - it was the best Reuben I have ever tasted. I'm not a fan of Philly cheese stakes BUT, my husband made me try it. They offer more than just philly they also had hoagies, and salads. Saturday lunch hour was a good crowd, nothing heavy. They had a sweet little nook area for us to sit in w our tot. I enjoyed the feel of this place, Philly style. The employees were so helpful and welcoming when I had Qs about the menu. We got a pizza Philly and green chili Philly. Delicious. The price for a 6 inch $9.50 to make it a combo was an additional $4. It's pretty typical to pay $15 for a combo meal these days, unfortunately. My initial bite of the green chili felt like a good kick at the end, ultimately with the cheese and all it wasn't very spicy at all. I would say it's a mild. I got an order of regular sized onion rings as well and they were PERFECT. I'm an onion ring snob and these were made right! Also have you tried the jalapeño sauce here? It's not spicy either and it's delish!! I didn't try their fry sauce bc I enjoyed this sauce so much, it has a ranch like texture. I give it 4 stars bc they did not have a baby changing station in the bathroom. They've got two areas in the women's bathroom perfect for installing a station and they don't have it. Hadn't had a cheesesteak in a while and this place reallllly hit the spot. If you love a pastrami burger then try the Utah cheesesteak it was delicious. The staff were nice and fast, two things I always appreciate. I actually came back on my birthday because they give a $15 credit on your birthday and I had been craving it since the first time! Service was great. I went to the State street store and ordered a Hot Pastrami. The menu said "loads of pastrami". When I unwrapped the sandwich there barely enough meat to cove the bun! Food here is ok. It's not too greasy, but very sloppy. If you dine in, ask not to have the hot subs wrapped. All that does is smear everything and make a huge mess. I'm not sure if this ever dawned on mgmt. Think of it, besides presentation, who wants to try eating a hot sub that's got it's good stuff smeared all over and getting it all over your hands? I have been to the one in Midvale several times and ordered but maybe I should pay more attention. 3 12 inches, 2 fries, 2 drinks, 1 side = $67. Not sure if they've been hit by inflation to where we're paying almost $70 for 3 people. The service was polite but no frills here. Just order and wait type of deal. I got the original philly and it was good, but not amazing. I've had better and honestly, this has tasted better coming from the Midvale location. Fries were crispy and hot, tasted as they should. Fried ravioli was good and warm/hot by the time we got them. All of our items came out at the same time so I'm sure that it was just fried first for it be going into the warm stage. Location was clean from what I could see and the sauces were in a small fridge on the counter in the dining area. Beverages tasted as they should and are refillable when dining in. I've been to this location a few times and my most recent visit will certainly be my last. Not only has Moochie's become really overpriced, but the quality is not up to par with what you are paying. I will happily pay a lot for a great Philly cheesesteak but this is just not it. Unfortunately we are very limited on Philly cheesesteak spots, so I decided to give them another chance since it's close to home. I don't understand the hype around Moochie's and they were definitely better before they started opening other locations. Obviously businesses want to expand, but you shouldn't give up on the integrity of your product. I got a 6" philly and substituted cheese whiz, which is an upcharge, not just a substitution. Added fries, a drink and a brownie, and a tip with the total coming to $20. As someone who has served most of their life, I don't understand being prompted to leave a 20% tip for someone to take my order in 2 minutes. They don't even bring it to you. But I left a tip anyways because I usually do. They no longer leave the sauce on the tables because apparently this stuff is liquid gold and they can't afford to let customers have more than one ounce of it. Also mushrooms or peppers are extra, something a lot of other places include. They don't even get your brownie for you, weird. I appreciate them keeping the restaurant clean and I like the open space, but having employees sweeping all around me and under my feet while I'm trying to eat is annoying and unprofessional. When I opened up my sandwich out of the wrapper, cheese whiz was oozing out. A little messy but still a good sign. As I started eating, I noticed I really didn't taste any cheese whiz. When I opened up my sandwich, I noticed the cheese whiz was only on the OUTER EDGE of the sandwich, giving the illusion of more sauce than there was. Annoying when you get charged extra and there's barely any. Also, Moochie's... please season your meat! There's literally no salt whatsoever. They had salt in packets (shockingly they were free) so I added some to make it not so bland. Again, if some of the tip is going to the cooks, at least cook it properly! Seasoning your food is cooking 101. Towards the end I bit into a nice piece of what looked like a beef bone, which nearly cracked my tooth. Not the best way to end an already terrible experience. I keep wanting to like Moochie's but every single time I am disappointed and this was the last straw. Actually scratch that, the last straw was the fact that one of the best things on their menu, their spicy "zappy" potato salad is no longer on the menu. Ugh why Moochie's, why?? So unfortunately I will not be back and would rather make the drive to Fat Boy Phillies where I'm not nickeled and dimed for supposed extras like cheese and toppings that should just come on any good cheesesteak. I will say that their jalapeño sauce is great and probably the only redeeming factor. But if you NEED a jalapeño sauce (completely untraditional on a true Philly cheesesteak) to hide your completely overrated, mediocre cheesesteak, then your cheesesteak really isn't shit ‍ read more

I believe this is their fourth location. Hopefully the fourteen or so four tops will help alleviate the lunchtime crowd of the original location. Moochies have become a standard in the salt lake area for a decade now. The cheesesteak has what I consider the ideal, crisp bread but not too thick, thinly chopped meat, sautéed veggies of your choice, and thoroughly melted cheese. What they do lack from having multiple locations is consistency. The nicely caramelized meat that added that great flavor has now become a streamed meat due the pure volume they have to pump out during the rushes. The amount of filling has also gone down from the sandwich that made them famous. They've suffered from the DDD effect. Now there are better alternatives out there. While their menu is pretty extensive, I've been a bit disappointed anytime I deviated from the cheesesteak. read more

This new location is amazing. The coming soon sign taunted me, and it felt like a decade! Now that it finally opened I am so happy cause I don't work that far. A fast food gooey deliciousness. I got their philly cheese steak and it was amazing. Super gooey and wet. Taking it to go wasn't ideal cause the bread got soggy. It was harder to hold and eat. Don't forget the jalapeño sauce. Very overpriced - mediocre cheesesteaks. Go to Fat Boy Phillies for decent cheesesteaks for half the price. We paid $49.49 for 2 cheesesteaks, 1 fry, and drinks. They charge 1 dollar more for whiz, another dollar for peppers, and another dollar for mushrooms. They shouldn't call it a cheesesteak they should call it a 'steak'. They nickel and dime you for the ingredients that should already be on the sandwich. Nuts. Don't believe me then check out the receipt. And no it doesn't have valet parking and no they won't bring the food to the table. It's mom-pop style overpriced food.
