Reviews are hit and miss. I guess my visit unfortunately fit in the miss category. I was stoked to try this place out, get me a good ole Philly cheesesteak. The meat- zero seasoning. Like, not even salt/pepper, just bland and boring as could be. Also pretty dry meat. The bread- pretty dry and crusty, made it tough to eat this puppy. I was stoked to try this place, and just assumed I'd end up liking it. But, I won't be back anytime soon. I'd maybe suggest if you do end up here, get a cup for water- to dip your dry sandwich in, maybe help get it down a little easier. My husband raves about Moochies so we finally stopped in together for a quick lunch. I ordered the 6" Philly with mushrooms and swiss. The flavor was very good and I also added the Freakin' Fabulous Fry Sauce to the mix for an extra kick. There were a few other sauces to choose form if you want to go mild on the fry sauce or jump up to the jalepeno version. The size of the sandwich was plenty and I'm not sure I could eat the footlong. There appeared to be plenty of seating for that day's lunch crowd, and there was a steady stream of customers coming in. If I didn't have my husband there with me to point out all the tips and tricks, it may have taken me a bit to figure out that I "wanted" to add the sauce to my sandwich. Look, it's pricey. It is. But damn is it good. I like to get my cheesesteak with the American cheese (under no other circumstances do I prefer this cheese), jalapeño sauce all over it, mushrooms, onions, and peppers. Wow. The last time I was at Moochies, the chicken Philly was my Philly and cheese without the chicken. 6 months later, I don't get how they can't put chicken in this sandwich. I asked for a CHICKEN Philly not a cheese Philly. And the cheese tasted like velveeta. Yuk I used to love going, especially the one downtown. But something happened and it's changed. The sandwich was super soggy, and very little chicken. Can I recommend? Not until they actually start putting meat in the bun instead of cheese and veggies. Yeah. The meatballs man. They are that good. Whether on a sandwich or in spaghetti, be prepared to come away satisfied with both the taste and amount of food. If you get the meatball sandwich and don't come away with red-stained fingers and lips, you're doing it wrong. We initially went because hubs was craving a Philly cheesesteak. He thought that sandwich was very good, but saw my delicious-looking mess and had to try it. We agreed the Philly is very good but the meatball sandwich is on a whole other level. Went back and got the spaghetti and it was just as satisfying. Kiddo has had good luck with both the gyro and pizza steak (which is a ribeye grilled with onions, topped with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.) The only negatives are their fries are just okay, their mild fry sauce is kind of bland, and their fabulous fry sauce tastes like a combination of tartar sauce and cocktail sauce which would be great on a shrimp po-boy but I don't know about on fries. We'll have to try the other sides on a later visit but really the sandwich is so epic and filling you don't need sides. Good meatball grinder, french fries are perfectly cooked with a nice crisp bite. Ordered delivery and came in a timely fashion. Upset with myself that I didn't give the driver a tip. Not that there wasn't an intent to but I rushed outside to make sure he found the house and before I could grab my wallet and get back outside he pulled away. I've been here a gazillion times. On this visit, I ordered a cheese steak and it was delicious, as usual, but I had the following self-discovery: I really enjoy that slight burning sensation I get in my mouth from the Jumpin' Jalapeño sauce, as well as the fry sauce. I'm a big fan of Moochie's and everything they can put in a big ol' bun. This location is lacking in some areas and I just don't know if it's the vibe of the place, the fact that it is a copy, or what it is. This location seems to take longer to make sammiches. Sometimes uncomfortably long. Like, "hey, my 3 buddies are already done with half their sandwich and I am still waiting." Part of the wait might be the attention to detail. Two of my last three visits haven't been correct. Charged for toppings I didn't want, toppings on a sandwich I didn't order, or forgetting the side that I paid for. 50 cents over charge isn't going to break me but it is irritating. Honestly since moving to Utah, I can't get to Moochies too often. But when I do, I may do a sandwich one time and appetizers the next. This time I decided to get something for the family and we can share a bit of everything (without being too greedy) lol. The famous handmade meatball with marinara sauce, topped with provolone cheese was succulent, tasty and on it hit the spot (you know when that meatball craving hits). Next up was the authentic Philly cheesesteak is made with thin-sliced ribeye STEAK grilled with onions and topped with melted American Cheese (another craving satisfied). I had to throw a few jalapenos on this just to satisfy the need for a little kick of spicy. Lastly the Gyro Steak with onions, topped with feta cheese, tomato, lettuce (I put a hold on the will sauce (as I wanted the meat to stand out and be tasty on its own). Went in for takeout. The wait was long but it was busy. There was plenty of parking in the front. The portions are huge which kind of helps justify the higher price tag. As it turns out, the philly cheesesteak sandwich didn't come with as much meat as we were hoping, but it still made two meals. The spaghetti and half meat ball is a full entree by itself. This place seems to have gone down hill. Food still tastes pretty good but service and food availability has been all over the place. Ordered 2 sandwiches today, waited a while then they said they couldn't make the eggplant parmesan (not the first time to happen) because the eggplant was bad or frozen. A little pricey though, because of substitution of cheese and adding peppers and mushrooms. $22+. They ask if you want to tip. They don't even carry the food to the tables. I like tipping for service after I have received it, not before. The employee told us he only made $12 an hour, trying to get a tip.
