We ordered the chicken Tikka masala and it was delicious! The owner was very pleasant as well. Will definitely come back again.

Mood Cafe is a neighborhood gem in Cedar Park. The food is top quality and is batting in the same league as some of the most expensive Indian restaurants in the region. Try the almond pistachio lassi! Their recently updated menu now includes naan pizza (!!) which I can confirm is just as amazing as everything else on the menu. Hassan, thank you for your service to the hungry people of West Philly.

UPDATE: everything else still stands, but the rose and cardamom is now my favorite lassi. GET IT! Also props to the staff member working all by himself being absolutely slammed during porchfest. He was hustling and doing a great job with the food with a line out the door!

Came here like 8 years ago when my SO told me how much he loves the mango lassi and we came back for more! The guy behind the counter was a gem - he offered to split the mango in two so that the kids could have small portions each and then overfilled them, let the kids pick straw colors and was just friendly and kind. We also tried the rose and cardamom. It was extra sweet and a little grainy, but a great drink. Loved it! (I bet the mango lassi is #1 on the menu for a reason, if you need help deciding which flavor to get )

My partner had heard great things about this place. They are known for their chaat and lassi but we ended up getting the tandoori chicken. We had asked the owner if he would recommend chaat or tandoori chicken and he said the chicken. I've never had chaat before but my partner said it's more of a "street food" snack, and it's not very healthy and is more of like a fun things to snack on. The tandoori chicken was delicious! The flavors is amazing and I love that it came with vegetables (squash, bell peppers, cauliflower). The price is very affordable and the portion size is great for two people. The one thing that I was disappointing was the cardamom lassi. We got the vegan version which is replaced with oat milk. It was overly sweet and you don't get the creaminess of lassi when you switch it out for the vegan option. If you were to get a lassi here, I highly recommend getting the regular one.

All I knew before entering this establishment was that the reviews were excellent. We sort of had an idea what we wanted to order but the owner/chef was kind and patient enough to steer us in the right direction. The mango lassi and the chaat that he prepared for us were delicious!! Don't think any of us had anything like this before. My taste buds were delighted by the flavors and I would love to return if I'm ever in the area again. You can tell that the owner is passionate about his food/cooking and he serves from his heart.

The picture doesn't do the food justice. I was impressed by the flavor profile: the sweet and tangy tamarind chutney paired well with the gradual, intense heat of the peppery green sauce that was mellowed out by the yogurt. He was generous with the sauces to the point where I even saved the rest for my food at home. The crisps (very similar to fried wonton wrappers) were airy and perfectly complemented the mashed textures from the cubed potatoes and chickpeas. As for the samosa, it was delicious; flaky w/ just the right amount of spice in the potato and pea mixture. You can tell the peas are fresh because they have that slight snap to them. I'm deducting 1 star because while the chaat was excellent overall, I was a little disappointed I only got one samosa, considering a regular order of two samosas is $5.99 and I paid $10.79 for my order. That and my food was cold to lukewarm when I ate it in the restaurant; the sauces, yogurt, potatoes, and chickpeas cooled the dish down, while the samosa was on the warmer side. You could tell the potatoes and chickpeas were refrigerated up until they were added to the dish...I didn't expect this kind of temperature range. Aside from those things, I really enjoyed the trip there and will definitely try Hasan's food again! Service was quick, too. PS If you can handle the heat, request it "extra spicy" to get that delicious green sauce.

Really great place, a local establishment that has been around for 15 years. I always come for the lassi which are affordable and delicious. Mango lassi is always my go to. There isn't a lot of seating. They also serve snacks and meals. Owner is really nice.

Holy heaven I wish I knew about this spot sooner as I am leaving the country in a few days I'd have been here every single day. The owner is freaking fantastic and the food is exceptional. This has also been the best human interaction I've had ever since I have been in Philadelphia. What excellent experience. If you read this please go it's so worth it it's truly incredible and feel like a slice of heaven is just dropped here randomly. Like I said I wish I had tried this place way earlier and very sad I will not have the chance to come more. The owner goes above and beyond to insure your happiness. I've actually never met any business owner like this. I highly recommend the rose cardamom lassi how ever I would take anything the chef/owner recommends.

I got the almond pistachio lassi, it was so refreshing! The owner of the store was really nice and told us about the history of the store. He let me have the excess of my lassi drink that didn't fit in the container. I'm excited to come back and bring my mom. They're currently doing a menu revamp so the previous menu with 140 lassi combinations isn't currently there. Will try some chaat next time as well! Great concept, lassi and chaat!

I had walked by mood cafe many times. As I walked back from Clark Park, admittedly feeling a little glum, I realized how hungry I was and passed by. Something about today felt right so I stepped in. I was immediately greeted by someone in a super friendly way. I love warm inviting places and warm inviting people. I had food at home so only wanted to get a side. I ended up getting fries w tofu. It was absolutely delicious. I got home and ate most of it despite also eating the food I had at home. As you can see there's minimal left. However despite the quality delicious nurturing food, I'll be returning because on a day where I felt so low, the folks behind the counter offered such kindness that reminded me of my own home. We spoke about food, the service industry, social work, and life. These folks know what they're doing in terms of food and hospitality and ultimately thats what makes a fantastic restaurant.

Super delicious Halal food in a small corner shop, they also had maybe the best mango lassi I've ever had Order: 2 Chaat (Chicken and Paneer) and Mango Lassi About: $30 Review: My wife and I were looking for some quick delicious food and I'd read some good things about Mood cafe, plus we both love middle eastern food. To top it all off I didn't actually know what Chaat was and I love trying new food so we know this was our stop. First up, chaat is apparently a semi-universal term for street food, so not all chaat is really going to be the same. This chaat was basically a combination of potatoes, chickpeas, a kind of chip, then the main topping of your choice (chicken, paneer, samosa, etc), then topped with a yogurt based sauce. This might sound a little different but it was absolutely delicious. We did prefer the chicken because it had a bit more flavor than the paneer but we thoroughly enjoyed both of them. We also got the mango lassi and it was AMAZING! It's absolutely something you need to go and if you don't like mango they offer several flavors. We got to talk to the owner a bit and he was super helpful (explaining chaat, how he makes it, and just having some cool conversation). The only challenges were that parking (like every place in Philly) was not easy and the cafe is VERY SMALL (like 8 people small). We watched a handful of people walk in and get their order to go so that seems to be the thing to do if you know what you want. This shouldn't stop you from going though, Mood was a great stop. It had very filling, delicious, fast food.

Its been years from the last time I've had food from this place, so I decided to see if they are still open and to my surprise they were open and have even relocated to much bigger and cleaner ambiance. Ordered 2 meals (2 tandoor chicken and chicken sheek kabab). I specifically informed them while ordering that the individual eating the sheek kabab is allergic to chickpeas (choley) which comes as part of the meal. The person taking my order informs me that he will pack it separately. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I was told by the person giving my food that he made sure he packed the sheek kabab separately. I paid and headed back home (40 mins drive back to NJ). Lesson learned - I should have checked and will check moving forward when placing food orders if everything is correct. Of course, we got everything other than the sheek kabab. They made sure it was packed separately - so separate that they didn't even give/pack it with the remaining food order. We called back and spoke to Ansar (think that's what he said his name was) and Ansar said "sorry, we will credit you back when you come next time and get food." My wife asks him "how you going to remember this?" Ansar's response "oh we will we will, just mention and we will take care of it." SMH What businesses needs to start doing is, depending on situations, credit back to the account if a discrepancy has occurred. Of course, if I lived closely, I would have drove back but I'm not driving back 40+ mins for 2 sheek kabab.

I went for the first time today after seeing a social media ad for their buffet; a couple of my favorite Indian buffets closed down during COVID so I was excited to see a new one open up near Center City. They have their buffet Fri-Sun and I went on a Friday lunchtime and it was pretty quiet. The inside of the restaurant is very polished with white tablecloths and tasteful decor, and the servers are very welcoming and attentive considering that it's a buffet. The selection is a little smaller than other Indian buffets I've been to and doesn't have all the Western Indian restaurant classics (though there is a good butter chicken). But I found the two namesakes of the restaurant - the tandoori chicken kebab and the biryanis - were standouts and had a perfect amount of spice that was noticeable but not too intense. I didn't mind the smaller menu as a tradeoff for good quality, though one request would have been to have a dish with paneer to strengthen the vegetarian offerings and because I just love paneer! I'd also consider switching out some of the fried options like gobi manchurian and pakora for additional curries as the fried stuff just doesn't hold up as well in steam tables. The buffet was $18.99 a person as of the time of writing, which I thought was a very reasonable price for all-you-can-eat food that also tastes great. I'd be willing to come back for sure, especially if they switch up the buffet dishes from day to day and I can try new things!

A huge fan of their malai kofta. I also ordered the chili paneer appetizer which was really good.read more
