I don't typically visit a butcher, and to be honest, they can be a little overwhelming if you're not familiar with the setup/process. The staff was very patient with me, helping me find what I was looking for and even making some suggestions. They had a great selection of quality meats and had a super cute little section of local goodies. They even had a customer appreciation charcuterie set up. I had a coupon so the price wasn't crazy but without it, I would definitely say they are on the high end. Like I said, I don't usually visit butcher shops so that might be pretty standard. If I find myself in need of a really nice cut of meat or something I can't find elsewhere, I'll definitely be back to Moodys! read more

Another bad experience with Moodys in Fishers. Walked in the Sunday before Christmas and ordered six ribeye cap steaks to be picked up at noon on Christmas Eve - a Wednesday (three days after Sunday). When I went in at 1 pm on Christmas Eve... they informed me they expected me to pick up the day before and had to throw away the meat "because the meat was three days old." If they had texted or called on Tuesday I would have picked it up. Won't shop there again. read more

I've been wanting to get meat from a local butcher for over a year and this week I finally did! The employees here at Moody's in Fishers are so friendly and helpful. They gave me the scoop on deals and what different cuts meant. I really feel like getting meat from a butcher made me use the meat rather than forgetting about it. To me there was a definite difference in texturtaste and smell. I'll definitely be buying my meats from here from now on! They have 20% off frozen items on Mondays and a rewards program. I will start with the good: they staff is ALWAYS pleasant and helpful, and the location is very clean. I always buy filet mignon from Moody's. The past 3 times I've purchased steaks the quality of meat is horrendous (Tendons/veins that are not visible at a glance). Today I bought 2 filets and when I got home I noticed one of them smelled extremely fishy. I seasoned and cooked them as I normally do. One was so fishy tasting that I had to completely throw it away. it legit made my boyfriend vomit. Be careful when buying your meat from here... I am fairly certain I was sold a rancid piece of meat that was sitting next to 7 other filets. Absolutely disgusting and a big waste of money. read more

I LOVE this butcher shop. The quality of meat is superb, the staff is awesome and always super helpful. Chicken drops, filet mignon, ground beef..all are excellent. Nice variety of cheeses, crackers, dips and meats for making charcuterie boards. Yummy, large shrimp for shrimp cocktails. They even carry salads, veggies, frozen meals and eggs for a quick grab and go versus a grocery store. Support locally owned stores and give them a try if you haven't already. read more

After moving to Fishers, I was extremely excited at the prospect of a butcher shop in our town that we could rely on. Sadly, I was super disappointed by Moody's and ended up going back to my tried and true, Joe's Butcher Shop in Carmel. My partner and I were interested in getting a Picanha cut of meat, which is top sirloin with the fat cap still on. We went in on a Sunday and the Moody's staff were very friendly and nice, and we put in an order for exactly what we wanted and were told to come back tomorrow to pick up our meat. I came the next day and Moody's staff told me that I should come instead on Wednesday and they would get their shipment in then. I was disappointed that our meat wasnt ready, but they promised us a discount so I felt slightly less crestfallen. On Wednesday, I called the store and was told that their butcher had a family emergency and would be unable to complete my order until Thursday, but on Thursday they would call me first thing in the morning and let me know what was going on. After not receiving a call Thursday, I called the store and was told they DIDNT HAVE MY ORDER. After assuring them that they I had put my order in on SUNDAY no less, and called multiple days in a row, they said that they found my order, but that they couldnt find what I ordered and they'd call me back after they found it. After never receiving a call back, I called Joe's who had my Picanha wrapped up and ready for me in less than 30 minutes. I am incredibly confused how a butcher shop, who most likely makes a substantial amount of money on orders, was unable to complete my order with so many days notice. Do yourself a favor if you want something more complicated than ground beef or sliced bacon, go to Joes. read more

I stopped in on the way home from work to pick up some pork chops for dinner. The service was friendly, and he butterflied the boneless chops very well. We really enjoyed dinner! The shop seems a bit on the small side. At the end of the day, it seems they run low on some items as the case seemed pretty empty. I looked around and noticed they had a freezer case of bison and some other locally-sourced meats. They also carry some other Indiana-made products like sauces and wines that complement the meats they carry. I liked the sign that describes the farm where this week's beef was sourced. I inquired about a particular cut of beef I was also looking for, and I was told they carry it from time to time, but it's a good idea to call first. I need to keep this place in mind on my way home instead of stopping by a run-of-the-mill grocery store for my carnivorous needs! read more

The beef product is as it should be,a giant leap over any big box store. You will pay substantially more $$$$ for this leap. The Nora store is new, so I'm putting that into to my opinion...however the customer service was terrible. I've only been once so far to Moody's but I'm not too impressed. I'll give it another try. The case on the day I went, a Friday after work, was fairly bare. The meat itself is high quality but pricey. The Geist location has a lot of room but lacks product all around. As far as social media, they could have a stronger presence to announce weekly sales. I bought salmon from them today and it was the best melt-in-your-mouth salmon you ever had! I'm not a salmon fan, I cook it mostly because it's healthy. But I could eat this salmon all day long! I am visiting my parents in Indy and went in today to get ground beef for burgers. Was greeted warmly by Steve, a very nice man that works there. He explained to me exactly where all the meat comes from and how it is processed. He was patient and answered all of my questions happily. We had great conversation, and it was so refreshing to meet someone who cares about food and where it comes from as much as I do. I highly recommend the ground beef, and the bacon!! We ate them both for dinner and my parents and I were blown away by how good the meat was and also how affordable it was. Unfortunately we had a very poor experience with the Fisher's Moodys Butcher Shop. Several weeks before the Holidays 2015 we called and talked with Steve and ordered a special cut to prepare a special Holiday meal for 11 guests. Steve confirmed he could get the cut and even gave a date to pick up the meat. On the morning the cut was promised to be available, I called and Lisa said there had been a problem and no meat. Obviously that was a huge problem since guests were coming for dinner the next day. She said she would check and call me back. After more than 2 hours and no call back, I had no choice but to go into emergency mode and obtain a substitute from another shop near Broadripple who went out of their way to meet our needs. A call did come from Steve LATE that afternoon apologizing for the problem and offering possible help much too late. read more
