Craving soul food after a funeral and thought of past food from Mookey's. Rib tip dinner was pricey at $25 for what was provided. Originally I had 6 pieces of meat in the meal but I thankfully checked my bag as directed to on the signs. I inquired and the container was filled with what I should have gotten as a dinner. Maybe the staff member was new that initial did my order. They were polite. More than 1/2 was tough, some even so much not edible. Disappointing because I really wanted some rib tips. The cornbread was dry and crumbly. Cornbread is not difficult or long cooking so I'm not sure why I'd get old cornbread midday on a Saturday. Or they need to retool the recipe. In my head, I would think that portions would be sampled by the cook to ensure consistency, but I've never worked in a fast past restaurant so I don't know the process. Sides: dressing was good and not overly salty. Yams had too much sugar for me. I bought another meal for someone to eat and I hope it was better. A 1/2 chicken meal was $20. Overall, not with the $25+ tax I paid today. The staff was pleasant. The area was kept clean. However, the meat was a failure. I would be fine paying $25 of the meat was cooked correctly. I would not recommend going here for bbq as they have a not cash return policy. It is store credit or a gift card even if the food is poorly made. Likely need to go to a bbq specific restaurant next time. I have no plans on driving way back to the restaurant and just count it as a loss. They have a great lunch special with a main course and a couple of sides. I got the pork chop macaroni and cheese and greens. It was absolutely delicious. This restaurant is atrocious. I checked it out on my own after doordashing for a couple orders from here. I literally don't even know where to begin. It doesn't matter what time of day I go in there, EVERYONE has a horrible attitude. There's never anyone up front, and the people that are take their sweet time in getting the food to you. I asked for my orders 3 separate times to different people, and no one brought it for over 15 minutes. The only reason I ended up getting it was because a nice old lady got vocal with them in my stead. The food is SO bland and slimy, and just downright expensive. Due to Covid-19, I called in my order so we could just pick it up and leave. When I called they said to allow 30 mins. When I got there 30 mins later they said it would be another 5 mins. 5 mins turned into an hour. An hour's wait for food that was already on their hot table. The restaurant was packed. No social distancing and masks not properly worn. (It's a mask, not a chin guard.) They kept taking orders from everyone in line first. Finally received my order, and it was prepared as ordered. Dinner for 3 was $71, but the food was bland, not up to Mookey's standards. The barbecued chicken was baked chicken with barbecue sauce poured over it.
