Originally went to the website to just send this an email but as they don't have an email listed under their contact section, I guess we'll come here. Visited the saloon the other evening for a quick bite to eat. We're greeted promptly and our order was taken. We watched as our server stood by the jukebox talking to her friends as the kitchen people brought us our food. Server sees, checks in, we ordered an additional app to share and started eating. We then continue to watch her stand or even sit at times, at the little round table while we waited. Our fried food was obviously just dying on the line and then redropped to make them seem fresh and hot again fresh when she realized how long it'd been. Whatever this is a diner, the food isn't why we go into places like this, it's usually for the atmosphere and we won't be back. Mostly came here to say that my check total after tax was $55 and change so wrote $65 on the total line, leaving an undeserved 20% tip and the server couldn't be bothered to do the math so she rounded up for herself. This is stealing. I'm not going to call and request my change back, but how often does she do this? Didn't deserve the amount I left, let alone almost $1 more for pure laziness. read more

MoonRunners puts a lot of hard work into giving each customer a unique experience. You get that feeling from the food, the care put into the drinks and the way the managers come and strike up a conversation. During my most recent visit my wife and I had the sampler platter as well as the grilled wings and the Catfish. We like to try a lot of things and split everything. All the food was above average and we loved the grilled wings - some of the best in town for sure. We also made sure to try a few moonshine cocktails and were not dissapointed. The first time my family and I visited it was quiet and the crowd was I the middle of size and race. But the staff are the sweetest people and are respectful. They are helpful and remember you when you come back. On Monday the burgers are just $6 for burger and side. Great spot on any day. Check it out and the prices are reasonable. I've been to Moon Runners twice now. The first time was just for drinks so I've been waiting to review once I had some food too. My husband and I went to Moon Runners Saturday night, and it was packed. They had a show at 9pm so very understandable. And I'd much rather see a place packed on a Saturday night than dead. I ordered the catfish. It was good, but I didn't really get why it was on sticks unless that's just the way you fry catfish?? Nevertheless, it was good and I would order it again. The hubs had the club sandwich and said it was one of the best clubs he's had. Drinks were good too. I ordered a couple of the specialty drinks. No complaints. We'll be back! read more

New favorite place to go, staff is amazing, food and drinks are exceptional. We recently moved to NC and during our exploring found this gem (Moonrunners), the food is consistently good with specials that keep things fresh and interesting. What a great place to meet up with friends, grab a drink and a bite to eat. My new friend Matt is a fabulous server; friendly and adorable. His advise on drink selections was spot on. Moon Runner's menu, both drink and food, offers a fair amount of choices without being sensory overload. If you head to Moon Runner's, you must try the moonshine. The blackberry lemonade on draft is a must; though the draft selection is ever changing. If you're not into moonshine, they have a good draft selection from local breweries. Saw this place on Bar Rescue and it peeked my interest. Driving back from Florida to Long Island, I decided to take a detour and come see it for myself. I am very glad that I did. Went twice this week, had a good time by myself the first time then took several of my employees with me last night. The staff was amazing, I wish I knew our girls name but I don't recall. I felt sort of bad bringing the Chief of the N.C. ABC and some of his guys with me for dinner, what if they saw bad things going on in a place I like?? We had our monthly garden meeting here and they were able to accommodate our group in a pinch. We moved meeting indoors due to weather. The staff and management were friendly and checked in on us frequently. They adjusted the a/c and the music level as well. The food selection was just okay, standard bar food and it was pretty tasty. The standout seems to be there beer selection. I was sad that my husband had kiddo duty because I think he would have enjoyed the P.B. Porter. I am a foodie and so I was not really wowed, but I would come back maybe for some people watching and to hang out with my hubby and enjoy a drink. read more

This is my 3rd Review of Moon Runners as it has gone through many phases in its lifetime (as I have too). I almost dropped a star because the Peach Moon Iced Tea didn't have any kick to it; I thought I'd get a buzz since it is Peach Moonshine and White Lightning with Iced Tea, but no luck. In fact I really WANTED a buzz, I was on a Blind Date!! I chugged that thing in like 1 minute, but nuthin'. Maybe I just have a high tolerance, so I'll be generous. But seriously a glass of wine would've worked better. The Caesar Salad was great, and so was my Burger. Then I gave my Litmus test... After I got my Burger I asked for Mayo. What would happen? This time our waitress came PROMPTLY back, WITH a tiny cup of Mayo! It probably was not Dukes, but at least it was mayo in a cup and not in a bunch of little aggravating packets. YESS! I'm glad that worked out. We had 3 waitresses but it was fine, each one was ADORABLE and each one explained that they would be swapping with (name here) who would also take great care of us. They were so sweet and good! So was our greeting at the door by the Hostess. So, the blind date didn't work out, but I fell in love with the sweet adorable girls who served us, and my overall good experience at Moon Runners. I'll be glad to go back again! read more

Not a bad little bar/restaurant. Definitely more bar than restaurant. Very good beer selection. They even had Green Man porter. I usually only get that in Asheville. We started with a watermelon moonshine drink. It was new on the menu, and was goid, but a little sweet for me and my girlfriend. For food I had the Baja hot dog. It was good, but needed a side of fries or chips. For $8.99 I would expect that. My girlfriend had the mac and cheese with chicken. It was really good, chicken was moist and Mac was cheesy enough. It did have a little spice so be prepared. I would go again, maybe on a Wednesday again because they had free trivia which was fun. It is getting a 4.5 for the bar side and 3.5 for the food side. Stopped here a couple of times with my band while on tour down in NC. Saw Moonrunners Saloon on Bar Rescue and had been wanting to try it for a long time now. We went literally the second we arrived in Garner, NC, and everything was so deliciously unique that we had to go back a second time before we left NC. The fried cornmeal catfish and the moonshine bbq babyback ribs were to die for. I loved having the flights of moonshine as well as having the blackberry lemonade cocktail (first moonshine on tap in NC), as well as the bobbing for apples, and The Moon Runner cocktail developed from the show itself. Everything was out of this world. My fiancée and I ordered bacon cheese fries with apple pie moonshine gravy, which was one of the most interesting things I've ever had. I honestly wish they packaged it and sold it nationally. I'd probably put it on everything. All the servers and bartenders were extremely nice, knowledgeable, and curteous; which makes it a better experience all around. It's hard to find service quite like that around here. We even had a chance to chat with the chef, Patrick. Awesome guy who really knows how to create and cook. The family behind Moonrunners Saloon really brought in a guy behind the kitchen who is extremely creative and knows his stuff! Now, the only negative thing about the whole experience is that there is no Moonrunner Saloon New Jersey. Expansion anyone? :) read more

This is my favorite spot in the area to watch games, drink beers, and eat good food. the setting is very casual and approachable with the perfect viewing set up for any big game. Football Sundays at MRS are electric and a ton of fun. They have done a great job getting more craft beers on tap. The moonshine is excellent as well. Wings are best in town bar none. If you want a comfortable spot to enjoy great food and drinks with really friendly service, you have to try MRS. read more

I came here last night because it's close by and it had very high ratings from my fellow Yelpers. I've now learned not to trust Yelp reviews. I'm not sure what people think is so great about this place. First off, it smelled like stale beer and was infested with flies. Second, the four of us ordered different plates and all agreed our food was mediocre at best. There was a lively discussion about how this place compares to TGIF. For the record, 75% of us thought it was worse. The crab and shrimp dip was bland -- heavy on some nondescript cheese and light on actual crab or any other flavor. My Guy's Dog was a mess and lacked the best ingredient: chili. To its credit, the margarita was decent, as was the service. And a manager came around to ensure we were satisfied. I wish I'd found a stellar dive bar with great food and ambiance, but will have to keep looking. And I will steer clear of Yelp reviews!! read more

Looks are deceiving, the pictures of the food looked delicious, but unfortunately it only LOOKED delicious. The vinegar based sweet BBQ sauce was a bit too strong with vinegar flavor. The potato salad and mac and cheese left much to be desired as far as flavor, both needed some salt added. I was excited to come here after seeing the great reviews, but I will likely not return as I can make most of this food better at home. My boyfriend did enjoy his steak, ribs, coleslaw and broccoli. this was my first visit to Moon Runners. When I entered the place had very few customers and was clean. I ordered cheese sticks and the southwestern burger. The waitress was very polite. When the cheese sticks arrived they were warm but lacked any flavor. In fact the batter overpowered the cheese sticks making them very hard/tough. The sauce for the cheese sticks were not any better. Very cold sauce. Not worth $6.95 The burger was an improvement. Cooked well and good presentation. The fries were on the ultra skimpy side but after the cheese stick disappointment I didn't want to ruin the burger experience. Overall, not a bad experience but not one that made me want to put this on my "must come back to" list. I was expecting a bar filled crowd and some excitement to the place. Perhaps I should return another time when the place is a bit more packed with excitement. Perhaps the cheese sticks will improve by then. read more

This review is by a Raleigh native visiting Moonrunners for the first time. Good sweet tea. Good music. Great service (we were waited on by Elizabeth). TV's for the sports crowd. Prohibition ambiance. The hush puppies, onion rings, and fries were all legit. Their tartar sauce was primo. On our first trip there, everything dadd great! Out server was awesome, and the food and drinks were delicious. We were so impressed that we convinced our whole family to eat the in Father's Day - big mistake. We were a party of 12 but, when we'r arrived, the place was only about half full. So, we didn't think it would be that big of a deal. First, we ordered drinks and apps. The room they sat us in was sp warm that our drinks became watered down before the apps even arrived. Then, the apps didn't even arrive at the table together, and one didn't come at all. My MIL ordered a steak sandwich, which was supposed to come on a sub roll. They said they ran out, and served it to her in plain toast. The server was rarely seen, and hardly ever brought new drinks to replace the waters down ones. So, you can imagine my irritation that the automatically added 25% gratuity to our bill. We asked for the manager, and politely voiced our concerns. He "kindly" took off the app that never arrived and gave us two cards for "free" apps - as long as we'r spent at least $20, and the app must cost less than $8. What a joke! We are big fans of Bar Rescue, and WERE big fans of Moon Runners. I'm pretty sure Taffer would be furious at the experience we had, and we definitely won't be going back. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. My husband had been wanting to try it so I finally caved. I had the cheese steak which was great! Our server was super sweet and attentive. They have a pretty good selection of beers too. It's a very dark place and I think the inside needs an update but service and food was good. read more

One of my favorite Bar Rescues. I happened to be in the area so I decided to stop in and check it out.. The atmosphere was great and my waitress was very fast and friendly. I had the shrimp and crab dip, and the cornmeal catfish and I was not disappointed. Moonshine specialty drinks were perfect as well, and the manager is awesome. He stopped over to see what football game I wanted to watch. When I returned home to Pittsburgh, my souvenir mason jar fell out of my car when I was unpacking and shattered to pieces. I was here for all of an hour. (5-6pm on a sunday):The bartender (older brunette) didn't have her mask on for a second; hanging on by an ear strap on one side. Multiple servers without masks (luckily ours had one on, Kaitlyn; she was wonderful). Patrons walking in/out without masks, not a single employee said anything to the maskless. Very disappointing to see a good restaurant blatently breaking laws regarding health/safety. I can only imagine what the rules for their kitchen are. read more

Went today after catching the end of Bar Rescue in which Moon Runners was featured. Just caught the very end of the show so I knew nothing about the saloon. Since it was about a 25 minute ride we decided to check it out. Glad we did!!! I had the ribs, homemade chips and onion rings...absolutely excellent!!! My husband had the catfish, cole slaw and french fries...absolutely fantastic, drinks wonderful! We did the shine sampler and gave the bartender choice and he did not disappoint. My brother had the burger and my SIL had the club sandwich...both excellent!! Our server Jasmine was one of the BEST. Having been in the serving business myself for many years Jasmine was by far one of the best servers I've encountered. Moon Runners Saloon is very lucky to have her and should do whatever it takes to keep her because she is an asset to their business! Thank you Moon Runners Saloon for a great experience! Amazing food! We got the mozzarella stick and cheese fries for appetizers and they were great! Fr our meals we got a couple of burgers the bootleg, the double runner, the steakhouse and the hangover they all were juicy cook perfectly and delicious! The fries were on point also! Been going there for years, typical bar food but prepared well. Great burger, and ribs. My only complaint is they offer a "baked potato" it's not baked it's a microwaved imitation of a baked potato. How hard is it to bake a potato? If you don't use them all, you can make baked potato salad, potato skins or better yet twice baked potato. read more

Well I got drawn back into Moon Runners by the Hilton Dining program. I needed to get $30 worth of food to my dine to qualify me for a pile of bonus points so I ordered 50 wings. We got three different flavors and two different styles so we could have a good variety to sample. I was not particularly thrilled with the wings. The grilled wings just didn't have that cooked over fire taste to them. The breaded and fried wings were okay. The garlic parmesan wings lacked any pop. They just lacked flavor. I would say that there are a number of places in Garner to go to with better wings so I don't think I will be coming back to Moon Runners for wings anytime soon. read more
