    Menu-- for next 20 days

So long Beasley's! Your last day is 25Jan2026, or thereabouts. We went last week as a nostalgia tour, but it turned out we really didn't have a connection with it much at all. They were out of a lot of items already, and the menu we knew pre-covid wasn't as exciting. The items that were the same, were good, but much more expensive and smaller. Had the hot chicken sandwich, which was mostly bread, but hot and flavorful. The hot chicken benny's that my fam got looked good, but they moved to a different recipe (or cut the biscuits into 3rds to save money). They looked skinny and dense. Most of the menu moved to rice flour where it could, to be more accommodating of the 8% of people with a gluten allergy.......... I think the area will be fine without it, and there is always Danes and others that are very good. I doubt that the Meeker group will find another restaurant to fill that area, so it will likely be fallow for a long time. could be wrong, but know one can afford the rent that has basically doubled on leases in Wake county over the last 6 years. The only seafood place in Cary (full moon oyster bar) had its rent doubled, they are replacing it with a shake shack. Way of Wake. At any rate, say goodbye if you have fond memories (to full moon as well, cept they are already gone as of dec2025).

Beasley's you have made my day and broken my heart in one with news that you are officially closing this month! I had the pleasure of trying Beasley's while on a trip to visit my bestfriend and he mentioned knowing where to find the best fried chicken...gluten free. I couldn't believe it but he did not tell one lie. If you have a chance to grab a plate here before their closure, it would be no mistake! (I'm flying back to Raleigh just to have it one more time myself). I didn't try any cocktails but they sounded delicious, so I'll jump over to the main event: food! Gluten Free Chicken (wings, drum, boneless thigh) 1000/10: no words. Amazing crispiness and still light and not overly breaded! And super juicy! Mash 8/10: I love onions, but the roasted/caramelized onion gravy did overpower the potatoes slightly. Delicious nonetheless and a great side for the chicken! Roasted Beets 6/10: not my favorite only because of temperature! I wish it was warm versus cold but just personal preference. The vinaigrette is light and nicely acidic against the beets. Biscuit + Apple Butter Seasonal Jam: 10/10 Cheese Grits: 100/10 spectacular! I'm tough on grits so I promise you they are perfectly smooth, creamy, and buttery! The best side in my opinion. All in all, Beasley's you will be missed. If any former employees from BOH want to slide me the chicken recipe...I will gladly and honorably accept. :)

Very busy place with great quality food. Attentive staff as well. There are a lot of gluten-free, vegetarian and dairy free Options. I ordered the veggie sandwich which was full of flavor with delicious cheese, fresh, avocado, and sprouts with buttery, crispy sunflower seed bread. Yum! Unfortunately, the server said the restaurant is closing January 25, 2026.

I'm always in the mood for Southern fried chicken, and Beasley's has been on my list for a while. I appreciate that they use Bell & Evans chickens, which from my understanding, is certainly a cut above the rest in terms of the welfare and quality of the chickens. We ordered some chicken thighs and chicken sandwiches without honey. I haven't really gotten used to the taste of honey on fried chicken, but I do enjoy the hot oil Beasley uses on their chicken sandwiches. The restaurant was packed when we visited, but the takeout order came out soon enough. The chicken was perfectly fried with a crispy batter, and certainly worth the wait. The parking is a bit of a challenge, but there is a parking garage next to the restaurant if you can't find street parking. Pros: Quality chicken, cooked perfectly. Cons: Limited street parking and garage parking near restaurant

    - Carolina reaper Eggs Benedict ( eggs were cooked to perfection / chicken was amazing ) I did not like the biscuit as much. I would recommend the English muffin if available. - Chicken Pot Pie ( very good, kinda giving off like their own little twist to it. The cream was just right and the pulled chicken was amazing. Gave me a type of homemade recipe feeling ) - Sweet potato fries ( so fresh and delicious, I should have taken some to go !! ) - Braised Collard Greens ( not good ) Overall the food was amazing ! The service was great. Our waiter was consistent but knew when to leave us alone and enjoy our morning. The location was very clean and kept up. The ambiance was nice, it kinda looked like a hole in the wall joint but seemed like a very popular choice in the area. Definitely recommend if you are visiting or just first time in the Raleigh area.

    Fried chicken leg and thigh
    Airi G.

The drizzle of honey was so good that I was tempted to order a whole side of honey to dump the chicken in. But alas, I did not. I ordered one thigh and leg which ended up being more filling than I thought. In addition to the fried chicken, we ordered a few sides for the table to share: custard-style pimiento mac and cheese, buttermilk biscuits, and stewed black-eyed peas with snap beans. I loved the addition of pimiento in the mac and cheese because it helped cut the fat since it was very decadent. The buttermilk biscuit was too dense, and the stewed black-eyed peas were alright. There were plenty of seats at 9 p.m. on a Saturday but I think they were short-staffed because we waited a bit to sit down. However, the staff was nice and we felt well taken care of.

Tried this place through offline RdU, such a cool vibe and beautiful fried chicken! We weren't too hungry so just got boneless chicken thighs and leg tossed in the Carolina reaper oil. Delaney (our server) did warn us about the spice levels she said it was a 9/10 but it felt like it was lower maybe since they add honey to it ? The side of roasted beets were yumm too! The only thing that irked me was the charge on a small ranch dip as well as the credit card charge! But otherwise everything was soo good! Excited to try other items on the menu! Will def be back!

This time we decided to get our food Togo which was a great idea. The lady brought my food to me which was right outside. The chicken was hot and the mashed potato's were so good. I ate the wing in the car, then I was mad I didn't order more

Let me start off my review by saying how impressed I am of southern hospitality or genuine kind service here. I'm not from NC, and I'm just so impressed by how kind service workers are in general. My partner and I had a craving for fried chicken and decided to brace the "storm" (luckily no storm came this Saturday evening) to drive to Raleigh for some chicken! We got a nice array of fried chicken (drums and thighs only), a chicken sandwich, some battered catfish with mashed potatoes, and a side of Carolina Reaper hot oil (highly recommended). Everything was served hot and fresh for takeout, but be warned. The wait for takeout is rather long. I placed my order approximately 15 minutes from arrival and had to wait about an additional 15 minutes upon arriving at the restaurant. It was also quite busy inside, but servers were handing orders pretty swiftly to those waiting for pick up! The fried chicken was nicely fried, as each bite had a nice crispy crunch along with a nice salty and juicy taste! I was worried the pale color would equate to unseasoned chicken, but the cooks at Beasley's perfected the fried chicken recipe! The fried chicken sandwich was no different. Juicy. Crispy. Pillowy from the sandwich. I honestly did wish for a little bit more sauce on the burger, but otherwise a hit between me and my partner! He did initially want to get a chicken sando drenched in Carolina reaper oil, but I warned him that the decision might be fatal. Luckily, there's an option for hot oil on the side! Perfect for adjusting the right amount of heat for one~ The mashed potatoes were okay. Buttery and had an interesting onion gravy jam consistency. Originally, my review was going to sit at 4 stars, but what really drove me to change that was their hospitality. Upon a blunder of their website, the catfish option has a section that asks customers if they want their fries on the side or not. I was under the impression the catfish came with French fries "along" with another side. You actually don't get fries unless you select for fries. Not understanding this option, I was upset my order was missing fries and called the restaurant. Upon my complaint, management offered me a fresh batch of fries, but also explained that fries would only be included if chosen as a side. Regardless, I was still offered fries for driving back and I appreciated their willingness to provide fries for the misunderstanding. Thank you Mary for the fries. My partner is a fry guy and always wants a serving of fries with any fried foods. Also, catfish and potatoes were not photographed, as we were starving and devoured it on the drive to Beasley's for complimentary fries. Will definitely have to come back to dine in if we're ever in the Raleigh area! The dining area seemed spacious and trendy. So, TLDR; catfish doesn't come with fries, even if the online option asks you if you'd like "fries served separately". You only get fries if you select it as your side!

This was our second visit and it was so good. The fried chicken was perfect as expected. The chicken was crispy and sweet from the honey. The catfish was so fresh and perfectly paired with the tartar sauce. The chocolate shake was probably the best one I have ever tasted. I love that they offer crushed ice for the beverage. The service is very attentive and friendly. I love the decor in the space, there aren't too many seats but you also don't feel like you are sitting on top of the table next to you.

Clean place! Service was outstanding. The chicken was fried to perfection. Crispy on the outside, moist and juice inside. Waffle was outstanding. The honey on the chicken sealed the deal. I will Definitely go back again... soon!!!

Red bean rancheros topped with charred jalapeño. Delicious.
    Jean K.

Those tin plates. Sometimes I like them but this time I didn't. It's not fun to scrape a tin plate with a knife and fork. And, don't order a milkshake to go. I tried the red bean rancheros which includes eggs your way on a corn tortilla with avocado, tomatoes, red bean mash, poblano peppers, and topped with a charred jalapeño. Delicious, but it's not something you can easily pick up and eat with your hands. I tried. The tortilla began to break apart and eggs were jumping off so I ended up using my knife and fork on it. Not a big deal since it was delicious but that tin plate was cringe to use utensils on. Little Mister had the chicken and gravy which he enjoyed. I tasted it. Yummy with chicken bits throughout. Hubs had the fried chicken with honey on a waffle. Can't go wrong there if you like fried chicken on a waffle. We finished our meals and Little Mister was asking about the milkshakes. Our server showed us with her hands that they were large and explained that they were the size of one of those old fashioned soda shop fountain shakes. We ordered one to go. But, we received the milkshake in a small plastic cup before we had the check. A different server delivered the milkshake so I asked about it since we were told that the milkshake was a large soda fountain type size. The server replied that they put the to-go shakes in the small plastic cup. I thought they would just adjust the price since it looked to be about half the size of one I had seen delivered to another table. Nope. $9. Not worth it. And we finished the milkshake before our server came back with the check. I'll chalk that one up to a misunderstanding and remember to ask in more detail like ounces but I do have a photo of our $9 milkshake here.

Beasley's Chicken + Honey at 237 South Wilmington Street in Raleigh is another gem from the iconic Ashley Christensen. We've been to several of her spots, but somehow have always skipped over this one - until now. And boy, were we impressed. We started with the Market Caesar Salad, a fresh mix of romaine, mushrooms, red onion, parmesan, and cornbread crumble. Then came the star of the show: the fried chicken. Perfectly crispy, juicy, and topped with just the right amount of honey. You can tell this isn't your average chicken - it's clean, high-quality, and cooked to absolute perfection. The buttermilk biscuits with apple butter and honey were heavenly, and the Yukon Gold mashed potatoes with charred onion gravy were pure comfort. No reservations here, so plan accordingly, but the wait que moves fairly quickly. The vibe is Old Southern casual with charm. I loved some of the classic elements inside the restaurant, and the restaurant structure itself and its history. Our server, Emily, was incredible--attentive, friendly, and on top of everything. We'll definitely be back!

I took a seat at the outdoor bar and started with some smoked wings. 5 whole wings, so really 10 wings at most places. Meat was juicy enough, maybe I was hoping for more of a dry rub though. I usually like mustard based sauces, but theirs was little more peppery than I wanted Then, per the bartender's recommendation, I ordered the brisket melt sandwich, and it was the undisputed highlight of the meal Muenster cheese, thinly sliced white onion, pickle chips, and a good load of horseradish sauce. The brisket had an amazing flavor, and all the other toppings came together beautifully. But that Union bakery bun is just another level. It's like brioche, it was so soft, but somehow a little more substantial. For my side dish, I went with the sweet potatoes with goat cheese, pepitas, and agave. This was just ok. For me, the potatoes could have been cooked longer, a little more crispness would have really helped. I did think the goat cheese was a unique flavor with a milder ingredient like a sweet potato, but it did work with the other ingredients pretty well. We stopped by on a Sunday morning and the place was buzzing--I'm guessing many diners were coming from church. Thankfully we made a reservation because every table seemed to fill up quickly. To kick things off, we each ordered a refreshing Lone Rider wheat beer along with two appetizers. The Shoestring Okra Fries were a fun twist on a Southern classic--crispy, lightly seasoned with chili citrus seasoning, and even better dipped in the tangy lime mayo. We also shared the Artichoke Dip, which arrived bubbling hot, creamy, and perfect for spreading on the toasted bread. For brunch, we went with two very different dishes, and both were excellent. The Asparagus & Mushroom Omelet was fluffy and packed with flavor from the goat cheese and pickled onions, while the buttery biscuit with jam on the side was a nice Southern touch. The Fried Green Tomato & Bacon Benedict was the standout of the meal. Crispy fried green tomatoes, perfectly poached eggs, smoky bacon, and rich hollandaise came together beautifully without feeling overly heavy. We couldn't leave without one more treat. The Strawberry Kiwi Margarita was bright, fruity, and balanced with just enough tequila and a zesty spiced citrus rim to keep it refreshing. To finish, we shared an Affogato, the perfect ending with creamy ice cream and a shot of hot espresso. If you're planning a Sunday brunch in Cary, make a reservation--you'll be glad you did. We'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

I'd say it was a tie for favorite drink between the Hurricane and the 1806. Both were well balanced and tasted great. The scorpion was a bit spicy for my liking and the espresso martini was good just wasn't as good as the hurricane/the 1806. For appetizers we ordered the Maine Lobster Doughnuts, Heirloom Tomato Pie (with Tennessee Buttermilk Cheddar & Sherry-Sherry Vinaigrette), and the Watermelon Vinaigrette (with Avocado, Goat Lady Dairy Chevre, & White Balsamic Vinaigrette). The Maine Lobster Doughnuts and Watermelon Vinaigrette were excellent. The watermelon was sliced, goat cheese wasn't too strong and had the perfect blend of flavors. Just a heads-up: the pimento cheese is served cold. I was expecting it to be warm, but I probably should have asked. The heirloom tomato pie was good, not great. Think chicken pot pie, but filled with tomatoes and cheese. The flavors were pretty straightforward, but the crust was really good. The ricotta gnocchi was a hit. The gnocchi was very soft and pillowy, and it came in an almost pesto-like broth. I'm a huge pesto fan, so I really enjoyed the combination. The sweet corn with oyster mushrooms was also good, but there was a lot of sherry cream. The corn was practically swimming in it, and the mushrooms became so soft that they mostly tasted like the cream. Surprisingly, the sautéed broccolini may have been my favorite dish. It had a smoky grilled char while still keeping the firmness you want from broccolini. Simple, but really well done. We finished with the soft-serve sundae with braised blueberries, coconut graham crumble, and coconut cream. The blueberries were a little sweeter than I normally prefer, but the soft serve was delicious, the crumble added a nice texture, and the coconut cream was a subtle touch. Overall, it was a very good meal. Not every dish was a standout, but the gnocchi, broccolini, and sundae were the clear highlights.

She brought me iced water and gave me time to look at the menu. I wanted to try so many things and I was too optimistic about ordering 3 things and finishing them myself. Good thing I only ordered 2 things! An order of fried catfish with home fries and one egg. And a biscuit with sausage gravy. The fried catfish was salted and well fried. It tasted delicious for my first bite! The home fries were basically cut potatoes, but they weren't very fried or flavored. I wished I ordered the side of apple sauce instead. The biscuit and sausage was good, but a bit too much for one person after eating a separate order already. Definitely bring more people so you can try more things. Also, I wished I had asked for sausage gravy on the side so I can try the biscuit on its own first as well. Furthermore, I would have more time to eat the catfish so I wasn't worried about the biscuit getting soggy. Christy came to check up on me every now and then.
