Our story with Saunders Landscaping Construction started in April 2016. Jack transformed our backyard, which consisted of a dead lawn. Jack and his crew beautifully landscaped our yard with a water feature (see pics), a fire pit, a kidney shaped artificial turf with a concrete border, rock slabs, and pavers around the fire pit. He also planted various trees, plants, and shrubs, all on an irrigation system. Forward April 2025. We had an issue with the water feature and called Saunders Landscaping Construction. Aubrey (Jack's wife/office manager) set up an appointment and Jack was out in just a few days. He examined the water feature and gave us an estimate on what needed to be done. Our 20 year old backyard patio concrete was worn and ugly. Jack made some suggestions on how he could restore the surface with power washing and staining. Jack's expertise and knowledge helped us in picking the right colors, taking into consideration our house color, paver colors, and patio border colors. Jack transformed our patio far above our expectations. We would recommend Saunders Landscaping Construction for all your concrete and landscaping needs. Jack and his team are Amazing! The open and honest communication is top-notch, they are very punctual, very professional and very friendly. Our initial project was only going to be less than 200 sq ft of concrete to extend a patio, we decided to add a walkway and expand the driveway pretty close to the start date. I was concerned that it would push the start date out since we were adding quite a bit more concrete, but the response was "sure, no problem, same schedule". Jack and his crew removed an old wooden deck and trellis I had in the back yard and poured new concrete that was stamped and colored. Additionally, he added a walk way on the side of the house with the same concrete and pattern mentioned above. With all the rain we had recently, there was no puddles of water on the new concrete and it drained sufficiently. Therefore, I would use Jack again and would recommend him. read more

My neighbor and I contracted Saunders Landscaping to do a project of installing a new fence between us. We scheduled the work on the 17th of Nov. In our conversation with Jack (The owner), I told him that I have dogs to worry about that needs to go to the yard so I don't want an open space that the dogs might go out. Jack said the whole process will only take two days so I don't need to worry. A few days before the scheduled day, Jack came and said they will start the job on the 16th of November (Monday) so I said it's great that whole week will be sunny. And that was a WOW moment. Monday came and they started the demolition of the old fence and I'm sure they will finish the project the next day as he promised. Jack is not present during the demolition but the crew he sent were very nice. The next day Tuesday, I woke up very excited thinking the new fence will finally be installed and the inconvenience of the previous night watching the dogs as they go out in the yard making sure they will not escape the open yard, suddenly became a disappointment when Jack knock at my front door saying they will not be able to work that day but will do it the next day. He said one of his worker got sick so I said okay he will probably get someone to take his place and finish the job on Wednesday. Well, Wednesday came and NO work is being done. I spoke with my neighbor about the delay and he said Jack told him the same thing, his worker got sick. Today (Thursday) they are not here still and I doubt if they come tomorrow being Friday. Next week there's a forecast of rain and with the holiday coming up who knows when they will be coming to finish the job. The two days that was promised suddenly becomes a who knows when. I mean how hard is it to find a replacement workers just for this job so that they can finish on time? I believe Saunders Landscaping probably overbooked their job scheduling that they are having a hard time shuffling workers. I've read a post on Yelp from last year (2014) from Alex P that mentioned the same problem of unreliability but it was too late. I will update this post as to when the job is done and how it is done. As of now, just be aware and really check a reputable company. Sorry I cannot recommend this company. I'm reviewing as accurate as it is fair with no bias. Update: Finally, today (Nov. 21) at around 2:30pm the fence was done. I'm updating my review to 4 stars for the quality of the work and friendliness of the workers. It took the project longer than I expected, as promised, but after six days the work is now finally over. read more

I chose Jack and his crew to remove the grass from my backyard and replace it with several areas of drought tolerant plants surrounded by decomposed granite walkways. Jack Saunders promised to get my property in showing condition after I told him I was trying to sell it and made clear my expectations and needs. Week after week he dropped the ball and finally after 3 months I decided to find somebody else. I would not be leaving this review however just for the poor landscaping service. I started my service on the 6th of the month and assumed that service would thus be valid until the 6th (like most services). This was not the case and instead of politely informing me of this he left me threatening voicemails and emails saying he was going to place a lien on my property over $60 and charge me late fees (I was less than 2 weeks past due). He then proceeded to call friends of mine and slander my name to them. This was the final straw and I would like to try and help anyone else avoid his services in the future if I can help it. I have never had a contractor talk to me like this before and would say he needs to work on his customer service and needs to do the work he was contracted for if he intends to stay in business. read more

I called Jack after researching various landscaping businesses. He met with my husband and I the next day and went over some landscaping plans we had made some time ago. He was confident that he could give us what we wanted. He brought back the next day a contract with an explanation and breakdown of all he was going to do for us and when payment would be due. He showed up every day on the work site, working alongside his crew. We were introduced to them all and they were very polite and helpful with my questions. They were on time and when he couldn't be there he would always call in advance and inform us. When I had questions and called him, he would promptly return my call. He prides himself on his workmanship. He built us a beautiful waterfall feature and ripped out all our sod and replaced with walking paths and sitting areas. We are putting in all drought resistant plants and he set up the drip system for them. He is also pretty knowledgeable about plants. He built a half wall between my garden and the yard that I asked for, as well as a paver circle where we have placed an outdoor fire pit with chairs. All in all, a positive experience and I'd recommend him highly. The best - he would always set something up and ask if I liked it before he cast it in stone. That way he wouldn't have to rip it up again and cause double work and costs. Smart thinking! read more

This was our first time hiring a company for something like this and we were a little nervous not knowing what to expect but Jack (the owner) was so knowledgeable and kind that we felt at ease right away when we met with him. We didn't have a very large budget and we didn't know how much we would be able to get done but Jack and his crew made us feel like we were the most important clients they had. We knew with the space we had we couldn't have a traditional fabric isle, Jack suggested these small beautiful rocks and let me test walking on them in heels to ensure I wouldn't fall. I cannot recommend this company enough and to other reviewers complaining about things not happening exactly to schedule, this is a small family owned company and honestly knowing he would take a few days to let his workers get healthy makes them an even better company to me! read more

We hired Saunder's Landscaping to transform our back yard into a drought tolerant yard. Jack, the owner, is experienced and knowledgeable about drought tolerant and was able to take what ideas we had and gave us a clear creative plan for our yard. Along the way he would give daily updates of progress, what to expect next and was always available to answer our questions. He does not cut corners and did our yard as it was his own with attention to detail. This is a small family run business so prices are reasonable and he only hires honest and hardworking workers. He is always polite, professional and reliable. He took a blank canvas (1100 sq ft of grass) and turned it into a masterpiece. We ended up with a beautiful yard that exceeded our expectations which included pavers, a fire pit and water feature that is absolutely professionally done. I wanted to re-do my front yard from the weed patch it became after the water restrictions were put in place. Porch.com (from Lowes) referred me to Saunders Landscaping Construction. Jack gave me a fair estimate and promised the job would be done in 3 days. He replaced the sod (weeds and dirt) with crushed lava rock and 14 drought-resistant plants and changed the water-wasting sprinkler system with a series of drippers for each plant. Saunders did my backyard back in December 2017. For the most part, their work was done well and looks nice, and they were less expensive than other quotes I got, but there have been several hiccups along the way that prompted me to write this. First is that on two occasions the water was left on. As a result of the second incident my side yard turned into a swampy mess and the decomposed granite he had put down basically mixed with mud and it was as if none had been put down. Jack had actually suggested when he finished the job that I contact him if I thought he needed to add more. I sent an email about it and never received a response. I didn't feel like chasing him down so I ended up just adding stepping stones and gravel to that area myself, since it was basically mud when it rained. Well now I have just discovered that the drip irrigation he installed is only going to three of the eight plants he planted. I have no idea why that would be and have asked that it be rectified. I'm hoping he will take care of it, since the quote was supposed to cover irrigation going to all plants. read more

I contacted this company for an estimate for work that represented an extensive overhaul of major parts of my landscaping and removal/reconstruction of a large patio. Jack met with me to go over what I needed to prepare an estimate for the scope of work. He arrived on a holiday, accommodating my work schedule. He was able to quickly let me know that I problem I thought I had (underground irrigation leak in the back garden) was not the problem and was able to show me and educate me what was causing the problem (moles). He was Abe to assess what had caused my concrete patio to crack and buckle and to propose a remedy for the future in replacing my 330 sq ft patio. He assessed problems I was having int the front garden and came up with a creative solution to redo the landscaping there. A further need was to take an old pond to transform it into something more modern and useful. Alas my budget didn't extend that far. I contracted the company to do extensive repair work on the patio, including replacing posts that supported the overhang to the patio, redo the front landscaping, including a leak they found under my driveway that they were able to create a work around for that did not entail replacing the driveway!all contracts for work agreed were drawn up and executed as agreed. I had to call the day before work commenced to inform that I had developed what was thought to be a slab leak under my house! We were able to negotiate work and Jack and his crew were actually helpful in identifying problems and solutions ( wasn't a slab leak at all) , verified by independent leak detectors. All work was performed according to plan; Jack was on site, crew worked diligently and were respectful. I was informed of a one day change of plan ahead of time. I was consulted when there was a problem or when there was a need to give me information. I had them make a slight change to the final redo of the front garden and this was done according to my wishes. All clean up was done and the final walk through was a breeze. I found Jack to be a personable, family oriented and customer oriented businessman and a man with integrity. I could just trust that the work would be done. He knows what he is doing! I would not hesitate to use them in future, and am already thinking of future projects. read more
