We were referred to complete ponds by another contractor and we stopped in to see Mark and he was just the nicest guy -- and I could tell he knew his fish & pond stuff !! I explained that I had a very novice pond and I wanted something that didn't take as much effort to clean and maintain... he instantly offered some options. We then set up an appointment for Mark to come to our house to see what options we had with the space -- he was honest and straightforward!! The process was easy -- Mark is not only professional and genuinely nice to work with but he also has attention to detail. He was super helpful with recommendations and helped us create a vision that worked for us and the area we wanted the pond & waterfall. We signed a contract and about 2 months later (right on schedule) we got an email that the crew would be out that following Week. My husband and I were there and met the crew -- talk about a fun, knowledgeable crew - they were GREAT! Their attention to detail, respect for our home and overall knowledge was spot on! They started on time daily, cleaned up every day and clearly knew their craft! They answered all our questions and walked us through what we need to do to maintain. She then offered to fabricate a replacement section of hose if we came into the store as the appointment would be over a week & a half out due to their high workload (it was immediately after a week of storms had played havoc w/the area). Ponds are a giant pain in the (you know what). Pond maintenance is ongoing and to be honest a lot of pond maintenance companies are shady and always out for the $$ with little follow through. That has been my experience at least...Complete Ponds therefore is a unique opportunity to visit and gain resources and knowledge- open to the public and not just trade- with a brick and mortar pond store in our region. It is right near the freeway in a business park and I stopped by to ask a few questions and look for some plants to add. They sell filters and pump systems that are normally hard to purchase- good brands that the pros use for a lower price than they will sell to you- and they sell fish- lots of fish. Both koi and goldfish and prices ranged from $25 per fish and up. And mind the sign-don't feed or touch the fish! Alas, I was there for the wrong time of year to buy plants (think Spring) but was helped with a few questions I had about filters and biological bacteria add-ins. The employees there were very busy on another project and it was obviously not a good time but they took the time to answer my questions to the best of their ability and gave me a pond maintenance calendar. It looks like the main focus is building ponds and while I can't speak to that part of the business, I appreciated the ability to go into a store and seek guidance on the enter ending conundrum of Pond Life! read more

Complete Ponds offers classes on pond building as well as complete pond construction. DIY people will be pleased with all the help and guidance you can obtain here. Complete Ponds offers the best display of ponds, streams and waterfalls in Sacramento so if your thinking about building a pond and you want to look at some, definitely come here. Unfortunately we came to look at Koi for sale. Complete has a online coupon for Koi buy two get one free. They have 5 indoor pvc pools holding Koi along with a few Koi and goldfish scattered though out the pond displays as well. The prices for the tiny Koi offered were outrageous. $29 each or two Koi for $56 sounds like a fair deal except the fish in question were only 3-4 inches big! Even if you used their buy two get one free coupon their baby Koi were still about $18.65 each! In sum come here if you need help building or planning a pond, but don't buy your fish here :) read more

I've been pondering on what to say and I don't want to be "Koi" in my review. I went in there not really knowing much with my shallow knowledge of pump systems and the guy that we consulted about the replacement parts had depth and was right on the mark. And his name happens to be Mark. Coincidence? I think not. His recommendations flowed freely and he was all pumped up to help us out. On the surface, I though I knew what I needed for the skimmer, but I was a basket case and straining for a solution. I described the problem we were having with the Koi pond and he floated some ideas on the fix which was a floating sleeve along with a strainer basket. House sitting for friend on dream vacation in Greece (did not want to worry him bu any means!) HUGE Coy/KOI pond (over 25 adult fish) Home owner showed me how to clean the filter. 3 days in-I cleaned the filter..then to my dismay the waterfall did not turn back on. He not only asked all the right questions and knew EXACTLY what I was talking about but walked me through what he thought the problem may be and offered MAJOR guidance/education and resolution as to what the problem could have been. I race back out to home after work. So I did exactly what he said (fill the basket filter up to full and re - try) and he had told me it may take a few times. Still not working-I call him-he offers more advise-stays on line with me- walks me through. BINGO and BAMMO he and he alone fixed my problem. They lost our business 100%. We've bought koi, fish food, aquatic plants and other items from Complete Ponds. My husband and I spent almost $1000 on a Pondmax UV filter last month, which their installer brought to our house and installed it. A month later, the piping on the unit broke and water was going everywhere. We had to shut the unit off until we could call the next morning. We were trying to fix it, but noticed the technician glued some PVC parts when he put the filtering system together. Every time we would try to attach the fitting, it would snap off. When we got a hold of someone, they said they were too busy to fix it, so I sent pictures of the issue. We told them we didn't want our koi to die. Cori looked at the pictures and said we could come in because she had the parts to fix the issue. When we got there, she figured out what parts were needed. Cori made us pay over $40 to resolve the issue of glued parts that were connected to the filter's failed part. When she told us that we had to pay for the pvc piping and other parts, we felt the failure should have been under warranty. There is no way the filter's preattached piping should have snapped apart within the month. The issue could not be resolved without replacing the glued piping. So we humbly paid for the pvc piping and other parts. Apparently they failed to recognize that my husband had to perform the labor on what should have been warrantied work. Needless to say, we won't be back for any reason. We will go elsewhere or online for our pond needs. read more

We buy supplies from their store because of their reasonable prices and great customer service. Once when we were in New Zealand on vacation our pet sitter sent us a panicked e-mail that our water garden was having a problem, so I asked her to call Mark at Complete Ponds and he went right over to the house to check on what was wrong. We had a great experience with Mark and his crew from Complete Ponds! We had a pondless waterfall previously installed by another pond guy who I will not name. We had several issues with the installation and I did not want him coming back. The original installer cut the pond liner too low so whenever it rained dirt just poured into it and I could never get it clean. I called Mark and sent him pics of the issue and he knew exactly what needed to be done. They had to completely disassemble the bottom half of the waterfall and replace the liner and then reassemble everything! It was a lot of work, but they got it done in one day and it looks better than it did before! The whole crew was a great group and did awesome work. I wish I had called them in the first place. Not happy with how the fish are always at the top of the water with mouths opened for either food or air. I have done some research and realize they are not feeding their fish enough. I talk with a person who works there and understood that it would be hard to keep the water clear. Also They do have nice plants for ponds. Thank you for your comment! I am happy you care for your Koi fish. I do know that you are suppose to feed your fish 2 to 3 times a day. It is not natural for them to come to the top all mouths opening. Fish do that when they are hungry. I have been to 2 other Koi pond stores, one is Sacramento Koi Pond. None of their fish come to the top. I have ask questions about it, and each professional says the have to be very hungry to come up to the top. I never mentioned anything about your company or fish. Fish usually do not come up to people. Please don't say that it is because the fish are use to people wiggling their fingers in the water. Can't rave enough about the ladies in here that helped me out this morning trying to resolve a weird pump situation on my pond. I needed to get this handled before leaving town as I knew the pond was getting worse and worse! My fish were ok but the water was getting murkier and algae was definitely at an all time high. I called this company for a cleaning service based on Yelp reviews. It was easy enough to set up and get information over the phone. However, the service tech was late (although he did call), he didn't return the lawn furniture he moved to their original positions, and he left muck on my lawn, sidewalk and street. A fish died and the pump stopped working. I was pretty annoyed and called the manager. The next morning there was a giant air bubble in my pond and it was clearly losing water. Now I was upset and I called the manager again. Mark was super patient and understanding. He told me he addressed the muck issue with the technician and I felt confident that he had "my side" so to speak, which I appreciated. He sent a team of two guys, who normally construct ponds, as opposed to clean them, to see what was happening. These two gentlemen were friendly, hard-working and respectful. They fixed the air bubble, they pumped out the water that had leaked and repositioned the pump. They even took my old, broken pump out, dried it off and wrapped up the pieces in a little pile for me. As they drove away, I heard them stop at my side yard and clean up that muck mess, without me even asking. Overall, while I was just a little less than impressed with the initial service tech, the company and the owner made great strides to ensure I was happy and more importantly that the pond was taken care of. I will be using this company again next year for the annual cleaning and feel like I'll cruise by and check out the merchandise in store next time in the area (as opposed to buying online). read more

After thorough discussions with owner Mark, we hired Complete Ponds to do a much needed major renovation of our large Koi pond, (approx. 30,000 gals). The old pond had been poorly designed and built by previous owners. The project took 2 & 1/2 weeks. The crew, Paul, Ethan, John and Daniel honestly worked their butts off each day.
