We had a great experience with Moon Valley Nurseries in Sugar Land renewing our front flower beds. They are well known for their tree work, but we thought we would give them a try with new landscaping. Adam Carlile talked with us, then came out to our house to discuss what we wanted and plan a new layout. He was very knowledgeable, and had a plan in short order. He got us thinking about what we wanted and how to get it. When the plan was finalized, we got the bid and found that Moon Valley had most of the plants we wanted in their inventory. They agreed to handle the few plants we provided ourselves. The installation crew showed up when they agreed to, and Alex Hornung and his gang did an excellent job making necessary removals, planting the 41 new plants, mulching and putting transplant root stimulator on the new installation. They worked quickly and efficiently and did the work in a short time. All of the helpers worked together to make the job fast and complete. Alex was very thorough in asking if he understood the plan the way we wanted and then making it happen. He was engaged in all phases of the job and in the end, he gave us instructions on how to water and care for the plants in one week, two weeks and extended intervals into the spring when the plants should start growing in earnest. I was pleased with the whole experience and when any issue came up, Adam and Alex were very accommodating and helpful. I generally don't do reviews but when I looked on Yelp and saw so many low ratings it actually peeved me so I'm spending a little time. If you need mature trees or shrubs there's really no where better than Moon Valley. I've bought multiple 8 year old or so trees (Fruitless Olive, Carolina Cherry, peach trees, nectaplum, jacaranda, Chinese fringe, redbuds, flowering pear) and I've bought the warranty along with it all. If I've had any struggle like my yard doesn't drain well enough and one of the trees didn't look like it was going to thrive (or one I just thought was ugly in place) I go back find another tree and schedule a day for them to swap it out. They'll even offer an arborist to come out for free to evaluate and make sure that the warrantied trees aren't going to be over taxed and struggle. The first time we went there I even had someone come to my house and give suggestions on landscaping for free. Now I did see a review that said you could haggle on price and I wished I had thought to do that because the trees are fairly expensive; however, I've seen the warranty (freezing in Houston! And had two break in the hurricane!) and the mature trees as a no brainer on value! Shout out to Adam and Gene at the Sugar Land location; solid guys that will take the time to guide on root structure, canopy, water guidelines, etc. I also really like the planting crews. read more

I'm one of those who, kind of, knows what I'm looking for, but just not quite sure how to begin. Several nursery professionals approached me asking if I needed help and of course, my answer is always "I'm just browsing for particular areas in my yard and "non-toxic to dogs" is always the answer. I knew I wanted Cape Honeysuckles. While somewhat helpful, I just didn't come through with any ideas that they could help with. Then, Jacey Bowers nursery professional approached me while looking around and asked if I would mind if she asked "what I had in mind, like, space, color, size", etc. I was sooo grateful for that. Jacey was really in tune with the type of look for a space, considering what was already in the space, the type of plant care and size of space I would be planting in. Since Jacey is a pet parent herself, she understood the "non-toxic" to dog part. Jacey was helpful with several ideas. Last, but not least, she kept the ideas within the budget I was working with. Connor and his crew did a great job planting our oak and oleander trees this weekend. Moon Valley was professional in how they prepared us for the planting, calling us as the date approached, and letting us know the status of our delivery on the day of the planting. Once they arrived, the crew got to work and Connor was in communication with me and my husband throughout the process, making sure that the trees were planted exactly where we wanted and in the position we wanted. I asked him for some suggestions for filling in some other spaces in our yard and he helped us figure out how we wanted to proceed in making our front yard even more appealing with more plantings. The crew were really nice, hardworking guys, and they left our yard clean and the beds for the trees filled with pretty dark mulch. We were very happy with the results and will definitely go back to Moon Valley again. Sean was our salesman and was very helpful and knowledgeable and he made our experience easy and enjoyable. Elizabeth at Moon Valley Nurseries is a wedding day life saver! My girlfriend is in a bridal party and with less than half a week to the big day was tasked with procuring some last minute greenery for decor. She first spoke to Sergio at the Katy location who was super friendly and referred her to Elizabeth at the Sugarland location as they didn't have what she needed in their inventory. Elizabeth was quick to respond, a joy to work with, and went above and beyond to offer excellent customer service to her with just mere days before the wedding. I would like to very highly command Mr. Gene Bills! in Sugar Land nursery location in Texas. for his EXCELLENT service. He is highly respectful, unusually patients, professional, knowledge, well informed also, very efficient and effective. Gene, is a very humble human being, unselfishly goes over and beyond to take the time to accommodate the customer. On March 25, 2025, Gene replaced the dying shrubs, with the most healthy, beautiful, breath-taking Japanese berries shrubs. Hi Guys: We had three fruit trees planted on the first week of October. Our salesman was Nick. He and the entire crew were extremely helpful when we went into the store in Sugarland, Texas and looking for some mature trees. We are not youngsters and didn't want to wait several years before we got mature trees bearing fruit. Juan was who brought out a crew to plant our trees. Everyone was extremely helpful and appeared to be knowledgeable. On Monday 12-08 we have Moon Valley coming out to check on the trees for us and do one of their injection fertilizing. The guys have assured me that this will not only help our recently planted trees, but also a couple of trees that I already had in the yard and I look forward to that. Their service to us has also been excellent. When they tell us they are going to take care of us it gets done. Thanks guys, we really appreciate all of your help! read more

Moon Nursery = Beware of Misleading Information and Poor Service and little value! I recently had a very disappointing experience with Moon Nursery. I was assured by the staff that the trees I purchased were frost-resistant and would thrive in my area. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Despite their promises, the trees suffered significant damage as soon as the temperature dropped. When I contacted Moon Nursery to address the issue, I was met with unhelpful responses and no concrete solutions. They failed to honor their commitment to solving problems with existing trees. The customer service was abysmal, and their lack of accountability is alarming. I urge potential customers to be cautious and consider other options. My experience has been frustrating and a complete waste of time and money. Save yourself the hassle and run as fast as you can from Moon Nursery. read more

I have been a customer for 3 years and spent big money with them on all sorts of trees and shrubs, mainly palms (at least 10). Their products are of very high quality, their people are awesome (specifically John D'Ailleboust, Steve Small, Eric Browne, Elizabeth Minnini) - they take the time to recommend great trees, and always make sure I am completely happy with my choice and always give me attractive prices. Their installer Connor McLeod deserves highest praise, his jobs have always been simply perfect, he is a real pro with a capital P when it comes to planting trees: knowing where to plant and how to make them establish quickly. I have never had a tree die after he installed it. Overall, this is an awesome business deserving long term customer loyalty. I simply dont go anywhere else !!! I was very impressed at the level of quality you get across the board at Moon Valley Nursery. Elizabeth was fantastic, as she patiently planned and designed my back yard, sitting with me for over an hour to help me with exactly what I needed to achieve my goals. Connor and his crew planted everything for me in a timely manner, while keeping my space very neat as I like it. All the plants looked like they've been there for years when it was all finished. I had an issue one of my trees after 9 months due to the high winds and heavy rain we've been getting. Now, Elizabeth mentioned the situations you may find yourself in with live items, so I opted in to the replacement coverage they offered to me at the time. I have always had a good experience buying tress here. I have bought 8 medium to large trees from here over the last 5 years; each time they were knowledge and helpful with the choices. I opted for the 1 year warranty on each tree I bought, and had no problem getting trees replaced when they died during some of the recent freezes. Most recently had good experience with Ivan and Gene. Ivan called a few weeks ago just to check in, and was knowledgeable and easily answered the question I had regarding some trees I had planted last year. And Gene was very helpful this week and hooked me up with some new tree stakes after hurricane Beryl had pushed around and loosened up 2 of my trees, breaking several stakes in the process. I will continue to return here whenever looking for any more mature trees. read more

Moon Valley was the go to place for large palms. The selection of both varieties and sizes was huge. We selected three palms, and a beautiful orange jubilee. I felt the pricing was very fair considering the sizes of my selections .I also chose the replacement warranty. Everything from sales, service, delivery and planting went off without a hitch. The quality of plants and trees is wonderful. Sadly a few. months later we did have a hard freeze, so we had to utilize the warranty. As promised, hassle free replacement! between Adam & Gene in the Sugar Land office, we selected replacements and they were planted immediately again great great service! So good in fact, I called Gene and ordered two fruit trees! Highly recommend Moon Valley - service and quality is spot on! read more

Great selection of palms at this location. Better than the Katy location. Ask for Sean. We were looking to replace four 10-12' high queen palm trees that all died due to the hard freeze we had in 2017. Sean was able to help us out throughout our entire process and ensured we had the best possible deal. He was very patient, friendly and knowledgeable. Being first time tree buyers, we had lots of questions and didn't know anything about palm trees. He helped educate us on all the different kinds of palms we were looking at (queen, pineapple, windmill, and date). In addition, he also helped us with ideas for privacy hedges. My wife & I went to Moon Valley Nurseries to take a look at options to replace our live oak trees in the front yard. Nate Fredericks greeted us & was nice, respectful, & provided us with answers to every question we had asked (we asked a lot). We ended up purchasing two beautiful date palms that were priced very well. We were able to finance the purchase at 0% for a year. Two weeks later, they came out & planted the trees & they look amazing! The crew that came out, led by Alexander, was courteous, respectful & professional. They did a great job. Nate came by the next day to drop off fertilizer & gave us instructions on how to apply it. He made sure that we were happy with everything. Overall, it was a great experience. Where do I start about our amazing experience at moon valley nursery. Absolutely brilliant! Huge shout out to Micheal who was super helpful, professional and nothing was a too much bother for him. Thanks to his know how and help we landed up purchasing about 3 fruit trees, 3 hibiscus and 2 cordylines. Their range and quality of all plants and trees are close to none. After having moved from overseas 8months ago I have never seen service such as moon valley nursery. I think every business owner in Houston needs to take a leaf out of their book on how to run a business. From now on I know where I will be going to get any botanicals in Houston. Job well done.
