My girlfriend and I visited this vintage clothing store last weekend to shop for Halloween costumes. I got an awesome cape that was black on the exterior and red on the interior. It was a perfect addition to my Halloween costume as Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon The store is very old school. It is in a maze of a house that is two stories tall and has a basement filled to the brim with clothes, shoes, hats, and costumes. I think Moon Zooom has an infinitely better selection than Goodwill stores. I went in looking for a Jean jacket. I looked through the entire place which smelled musty. It was hard to shop because the lighting was really dim. The building seemed to be falling apart on the inside. I spoke to the owner, I'm assuming, to ask about what I was looking for and he said it was a popular item and out of stock. Then I said I went to several thrift stores and couldn't find it. Apparently, this comment is where he felt the need to bring out his misogyny. He then proceeded to ask me if I knew what vintage is. This was my second time here, but I won't be back. All the clothing is in poor shape and he is overcharging for it. I would recommend Black and Brown over this antiquated shop. read more

A thrift shop to satisfy all your decade needs. I visiting San Jose and looking for an outfit for a Disco themed part. A mutual friend took us to Moon Zooom & it was the PERFECT lil spot to find any decade outfit you might need. Although it looks like it can be small from the outside, the place is bigger than you think. I was exploring the front part since we saw some disco inspired outfits but was surprised to see a whole back area with more clothes! There are a few fitting rooms where you can try on clothes and the staff was super helpful in case you needed help finding anything. You can easily get lost in here while sifting through clothes and might leave with more than what you came for but then again, what else is thrifting like? I was able to find the perfect pants (it actually came in a set) for the themed party. The price was a lil steep but I love the fact that this is a thrift store versus buying fast fashion. Moon Zooom is located in West San Jose along a lot of other vintage and thrift stores. Parking can be busy. There's a lot to browse through across different rooms. It can overwhelming and exciting at the same time. They had a lot of great pieces to explore from vintage to old band merch. I was really happy stumbling across a Grateful Dead tee with so many colors printed ($20) to add to my collection. The dressing rooms are small and dim, but there should be a mirror outside. The staff is very friendly and passionate about vintage clothes. It was really great talking to them when I was checking out. Keep your receipt for $3 off your next purchase. You can stack them too. I wish they had a stamp card instead though since it can be easy to lose receipts. read more

The owner of the store is funny and friendly. His pets hang out with him at the register. He said it's the first vintage store in the Bay! Really cool store to shop for vintage and costumes. Some items are on the pricier side but it's still fun to look around. I was finding a costume for Halloween and did find what I was looking for, but was a little bummed its accessories hanging with the costume were sold separately. Arrived here on a Friday afternoon with a friend around 3:30 pm! Parking is limited with spaces in the front, but other alternatives are street parking nearby or parking across the street with the larger plaza and Goodwill as a general landmark. If you decide to park in the plaza, there's a nearby crosswalk and it's about a 2-3 minute walk. Super excited to visit this thrift shop because it was recommended by 2 friends! The moment you walk in, you'll be surrounded by clothes! The store has lots of personality from vintage costumes dating to the Swing era, classic dress attire, to modern brands like Nike and Banana republic, to anime street wear. You can lose your sense of time since the place is so labyrinth like, moving from one room to another. The place has two floors- the base floor and upstairs. What caught my eyes were sports jerseys, vintage tees (Like an entire shirt with Michael Jackson's face), and vintage blazers for men. I like the volume of clothes on the racks, but it felt so stuffy inside despite having fans on. I can imagine that the summer would increase the temperature, especially with the sheer amount of fabric inside. A hidden gem in San Jose, that I would visit again for my thrift shopping needs or bring a friend from out of town! read more

My teenage daughter and I went for the first time and it was so fun. What a collection! You will not be disappointed. I've never been to a vintage store that has items as far back as the 1800's. The owner was so easy to talk to and since I'm a huge fashion enthusiast he gave me a tour of his "prize possessions" which I thoroughly enjoyed. My daughter walked out with two items and we'll def be back. By far one of my favorite stops on this trip. read more

This review is long overdue, but much needed! I visited this gem as a vendor in August. The owner is such a kind a humorous man, but the real star of the show is the four legged princess behind the desk, I mean the fabulous vintage packed into every nook and cranny of this house of treasures! I could have easily spent all day browsing through all of the beautiful items. The owner offered me a more than fair trade value for my prized collection of vintage oddities, and was unnecessarily forthright and honest by explaining to me how valuable one of my pieces was, that I had no idea was! Not to mention the story behind the brand is touching. I cannot wait to return here and hope we can work together in the future. This is a must do for vintage clothing lovers of all shapes and sizes, and be sure to carve out several hours for this store. You'll thank me when you see it! This is one of the best vintage shops in the bay area, and we have a ton of vintage out here. The store is small but the selection is massive, you can tell that each item is hand picked by the owner. It is super clear that this place is something special, and its made this way by the team who runs this shop. I have come in multiple times, and even after moving two hours away I still come back to Moon Zooom because the team is so amazingly kind. Don't waste your time anywhere else come to Moon Zooom, and trust me you will find quality items that have truly been fully evualuated. First time back since 2000 and dang it sucks now. 80% of the t-shirts are from the last two years and are the crap you see at target that is made to look vintage. Seriously tags with 2022 trademarks are all over the shelves (pic attached). Such a downer. Also seeing the same shirts all over the store makes me think they buy dead stock that department stores can't sell and mark it up as vintage to those that don't check hard. IMHO This is a fun place to shop for a wide variety of vintage clothing and costumes! Chase, the proprietor, is a kick-in-the-pants and makes shopping here fun! This place is whimsical and filled with so many treasures from all fashion eras! Space is tight when exploring through their many jam-packed rooms. On my first visit here, I brought in some of my mother's Chinese dresses for Chase's consideration. Happily, he purchased them and now someone else will be able to enjoy wearing them! I brought a friend here before Halloween so she could find an apron for her "costume". It was priced at $10, but my Yelp check-in gave an additional $3 off! I just washed this Raffa 100% Alpaca that was gifted to me after shopping at Moon Zoom. Chase is an exceptional salesperson and advised us that his inventory goes quickly! Some of the vintage clothing in here is exceptionally high quality. Some kind of crazy halloween costume vibe here and there. While there I saw a 1920's section, a 1980's section, some amazing dresses and beautiful formal coats from the 1950's. Chase even sells antique ladies formal gloves. The Vintage Silk Kimono for sale at Zoom Moon are beautiful. There were multiple. This beautiful Alpaca sweater is my first Alpaca sweater. It was under 30 dollars at Moon Zoom. 26? 27? Something very reasonable and worth the money. I might have randomly come across something of this caliber at a regular thrift store for cheaper, but the difference here is that this is a more curated collection of finer pieces. If I were to try and purchase this same sweater on Ebay, which I have done as a gift for my Father one year, I know that I would be paying over 100 for a sweater of this caliber, used. Anyway, If anyone else is cold like I was, I recommend finding a fine coat or sweater here. They even had a 1950's felted cape that you can traipse around your livingroom in while enjoying a martini. This is by far my most favorite store - no - my favorite overall destination - in the entire world. I spend hours going through everything. The owner sometimes will give you a deal if you buy a bunch of stuff, and every time you buy stuff they give you $3 or $5 off your next purchase. They have real fur coats, petticoats, square dancing dresses, civil war ballgowns and room after room of vintage clothing separated into different areas by the decade. Most of it is not cheap imitation costumes - there are 50s prom dresses from the 50s, they have authentic flapper dresses made in the 20s, you name it, it's here. They also have upstairs a more contemporary section that sells new Vans shoes. They have hats of all kinds, and jewelry, too, and you could spend all day here if you wanted and still not see everything. You can't get clothes like this at any other thrift or vintage store in the Bay Area. HIGHLY recommend. read more

I used to love Moon Zooom, but in the past 2 years, I feel it's gone downhill. The selection is subpar and the prices are OK. I feel like in the past, there used to be some major gems. I used to look forward to the annual $1 summer sale every year. I'd find treasures every time I walked into the store. Now, it feels like it's the same old thing - unless you go to the "expensive" section which yes indeed is very nice, but super pricey. Onto the selling part of the review. There aren't any recent reviews regarding selling so I hope this is helpful to some. Unless you're friends with the owner or plan to donate the clothes anyway and just want to make a few dollars, do not sell here. You will not get a fair trade in value. Black and Brown is notoriously picky but they gave me more money for my items, and bought a lot from me. I brought in different items to Moon Zooom (all vintage) and while many items were purchased, I'm pretty certain the trade in value was much lower. They tell you it's 30% but upon calculating it - I really like it's something like 15% of what they sell the item for. They don't write down the cost per item and total up a percentage at the end - it's just an offer made up. Because of this, I'm pretty certain I was low balled, which I'm disappointed by, but that's on me for not double checking. For vintage clothing in good condition, try Black and Brown first. read more

I did not have a good experience here. A skirt I was looking at had 3 stains on the back, they were selling it for $75. I was a little nervous, but I went up to the register and gracefully asked the man who was working (big guy, white-ish hair), if they were able to adjust the price. Before I could even finish my sentence, he cut me off and told me no. He laughed at me like I was stupid, told me "the prices here are very smart." He spoke to me in a very rude way, made me feel like my question was shocking, and the interaction made me tear up afterwards. Nobody should be treating a customer like this. Richard and his staff are amazing! They go above and beyond to make your experience memorable. Unlike other shops on the strip of W. San Carlos, this vintage store truly has it all. From clothing to accessories, you'll discover hidden treasures waiting to be uncovered. I had a few unique pieces and garments I wanted to sell and Richard was accommodating and described what they were interested in. When I dropped off some cosmetic jewelry, they could have ripped me off. Instead, they awarded me something that I had no idea had such value. Their honesty and integrity are hard to find anywhere. Because I had other items I wanted to bring in, but had too much, they extended me the courtesy of traveling to my location. Who does that? Well, they do. I visited this location once before and was really excited to show my friend their vintage collection. however when i arrived with her, we were profiled and the owner thought we were stealing. i purposely asked her to not bring any loose clothing or big bags so we didn't raise suspicion however we were still treated very rudely. I never realized two brown girls would warrant such a nasty reaction, especially when he was super friendly to the other white customers in the store. We just came out of Goodwill from across the street, which was PACKED to the brim with a bunch of teenagers looking for stuff to resell. I don't understand why this place was so EMPTY. They have a lot of cool stuff in here from all decades, sizes, and styles. New and used clothing, band tees, shoes, boots, jewelry, and accessories.
