Very average. Not great coffee. I'm sure it does the job if this is your local coffee place, but I would not drive here again to get coffee.

My review is for the coffee. It's just OK in my opinion. I usually don't end up coming here because there is always a line and takes a while. I like going to places where I can order ahead. Its ok they don't have that most likely due to not having enough workers but it refrains me from coming here. The breakfast sandos are good just like any other place. Nothing stands out enough here to make me want to wait in line. I only have come when and if it's convenient since I live nearby. The place is too small to eat inside, and I don't like the area enough to eat outside. read more

This place is an oldie but goodie. Moonbean's coffee has been around for a while. They are located off Santa Teresa, across Kaiser Hospital and next to 24 hour fitness. The staff is awesome, friendly, and have great knowledge of their product. The coffee beans is distinctively different with sweet caramel over notes and a creamy mild earthly notes that balances the bitterness of an expresso roast. My go to drink is a Major Tom, hot or iced. Normally this would be where I describe what is in the Major Tom, but I honestly have no idea. I know there's two espresso shot, white chocolate and I believe caramel. It's very similar to a Café su da with a touch of heaven. So if you are visiting San Jose, skip Starbucks and stop by this gem. read more

Overall, great coffee spot in this part of SJ. Drinks: I ordered a double shot cappuccino. The espresso was good, coffee has a very smooth and bold taste. Cappuccino was made just how I like it! Service: very fast to make coffee even though there was a line out the door Ambiance: I WISH there was more place to sit and work here. This part of san jose needs coffee shops and working spots. There is not much space to sit especially given on weekdays there is a line out the door for coffee. read more

The coffee is good. I've only tried lattes with oat milk, usually the craziest I get. The coffee was solid not acidic and it didn't leave me with the bitterness either. The two times I've stopped by they were polite and quick with my order. Both consisted of latte and sandwich. Pb&J had too much jelly for my taste. I prefer more pb than j. I've also tried the breakfast sandwich which I really enjoyed. My spouse ended up eating half because it was pretty good (I added avocado). Arriving at the spot, there was maybe one person ordering which was concerning and exciting (not a big fan of crowds). As I'm waiting I start to hear more people talking and within a few minutes, there's a line. This happened on both of my visits. There was one thing I've noticed. The menu is cool, artsy but the font used in the descriptions on the Breakfast menu doesn't work well. Especially for those in line trying to decide and decipher what's listed. I saw a lady walk in, try to read and just leave. My spouse whose vision is good struggled reading some of it. Other than that, it the coffee is good the sandwiches are great! read more

Lovely little coffee shop with friendly service and great handcrafted coffee. My two top favorite ones here include the iced one - Major Tom and Dirty Ghai Iced Tea. I'm slightly more inclined towards the Major Tom Latte with Ghirardelli White chocolate and Caramel Sauce. I usually add a shot of espresso in Major Tom for that additional kick. Yummy with or without the espresso shot! Definitely a good welcome break from the corporate coffee joints in the area! Must visit! read more

Fun coffee shop in San Jose! The employees are super kind and the vibe is friendly and fun. While my drink was a little too sweet for me, the food looked amazing and delicious. I would definitely go back to try to breakfast sandwiches/bagels. My friend got the Mediterranean bagel and he loved it! I got a Mocha Amore and it was a little too sweet and not my favorite. I'll stick to a regular cappuccino next time! read more

One of my favorite places for coffee! Let's start with the great parts: The espresso itself is so flavorful. I also love how they have an interesting variety of coffee combinations. If you like sweeter coffee they have really good drinks. For example, I had the Major Tom which is white chocolate mocha with caramel. So delicious! They also have indoor and outdoor seating. Things that were okay: The location of this cafe seems a little bit far from everything. It's very Deep South/East San Jose. Easy to find and in a large plaza though! The food here could been improved. While my breakfast sandwich was nice. It tasted as though they used Kraft single cheese on my sandwich. The pastry case was also looking unappetizing. However, still one of my favorite places for coffee in the area. I think if some improvements were made to the food/appearance of the food case.. it would be phenomenal! read more

Love it! Delicious food and tasty drinks. Perfect place to grab a quick breakfast or lunch! I'm in love with their dirty thai tea (thai tea & espresso) + mocha amore! I usually go for the dirty thai tea cause it's seriously the best, especially when I need some caffeine :) You must try it! I have ordered a few breakfast bagels on their menu and it's good! I discovered this place during the pandemic and wishing for the day I can go inside and sit down with a cup of coffee. Overall, drinks and food are delicious! Friendly staff and quick service. Amazing lattes without fail. Every single time. I love the Major Tom, the Milky Way, the Almond Joy, the Cinnamon Roll. Iced is my preference but on a cold or wet, grey day, hot hits the spot. When I'm visiting here (every month) from Seattle, MoonBeans is on my MUST HAVE list. Service is always friendly, and you never feel rushed through. I'm all about supporting local joints and this one is located in south SJ. Met a friend here and we were able to sit and catch up, as they have a few tables outside. They have an interesting menu- offering a few of their specialties, coffees, smoothies, and breakfast. Unfortunately their tea menu is very limited. My stomach can only handle decaf or herbal teas, it would be nice to see a few more tea options. I ordered the berry smoothie with almond milk ( 50 cent extra). I often feel sorta funny leaving a review with so little to talk about, but so far so good. I got a pour over of their Decaf Mexican blend. It was good! It was pretty busy in there at 1030 on a Thursday, but they moved the line pretty well. I also felt that they did a good job of managing the rush - I had to wait in line for a bit to order, but once one had ordered, drinks and food came out pretty quickly. I hate it when businesses manage it the other way around - it's deceiving, I think it's much better to do it the way they do it, sets expectations correctly. Great stop for coffee, specialty drinks, and bites! We picked up some coffee for the road back to LA. The workers were super friendly and customer service was great. The specialties were very creative and all sounded delicious. I ordered a dirty Thai which was a Thai tea with an espresso shot and my bf got a cold brew. I've been on a mission to support independent, local coffee shops during the pandemic. I would've never known MoonBean's Coffee existed if it wasn't for Yelp. MoonBean's Coffee was all around excellent. Great service, food and drinks. The only downside is that MoonBean's is a ways away, so it's inconvenient for me to go there often. South SJ is lucky to have this spot. I arrived at 7:15am on a Wednesday. They had a steady flow of customers while I was there, but the staff was really quick and efficient in fulfilling orders. The employee at the register knew his regulars' orders too and had them ready to go for them. This sped up the process even more. By the way, the guy taking orders was awesome. Great attitude and very helpful. MoonBean's Coffee is located in a strip mall off Cottle and Santa Teresa. They've setup a makeshift ordering and pickup window at the entrance, so customers can't mingle inside the store. I'm appreciating how places are doing this now as it limits the exposure and spread of Covid among customers and employees. From the outside looking in, however, I could see that MoonBean's was really cute and cozy inside. I liked the hand drawn menus with super nice penmanship. The beauty of the place was all in these small and simple details. I'm all about craft coffee drinks, and I found that MoonBean's had a pretty unique menu with signature drinks. I went for an iced Major Tom that consisted of white chocolate with caramel. Sweet and creamy. The coffee flavor from the espresso was more subtle than I would've preferred, but I still loved the drink. I also ordered a Mediterranean breakfast sandwich on a croissant, which had eggs, sun dried tomatoes, cheese and avocado spread. Nothing particularly special about it, but it was a solid sandwich. When you're a cancer patient trying to live a life of joy when there's so much worry and pain, it can be difficult. It's even more difficult when you experience unpleasant customer service at a spot that you were excited to try. I ordered a chai tea for my aunt without milk. When I saw the worker (an Asian man that is possibly the manager) making it, I noticed he put milk in it. I asked him if he can make it without milk and with such attitude he says "you're supposed to tell us that." I told him that I did mention it and the other worker that took my order confirmed it. The guy clearly looked annoyed by me and upset as he made my new drink. Just to lighten him up I said "thank you so much and apologized for the inconvenience. He didn't care, but I wish people had more compassion. You never know what someone is going through. The coffee is good and their breakfast sandwiches. The breakfast burrito on the other hand was basically a flour tortilla roll with bacon crumbs. Please see the photo for reference. I guess they order their burritos from somewhere else. A friend of mine and I come here about twice a month. We really enjoy the Mexican mochas! Other favorites include their blueberry scones (I've yet to try their muffins) and their bagel sandwiches. I don't love the density of typical bagels, but theirs are actually fluffy and fresh! It makes sense that their lines are somewhat long! This place is a keeper! read more

We have been coming to Moonbeans for several years. Their coffee is good, and they are one of the few coffee shops that carry multiple flavors of sugar-free syrup, not just the basic vanilla and/or hazelnut. The staff is always friendly, and willing to accommodate my needs in most cases. Their food options are fairly small, but what they do have is very good. We come hear almost every weekend day, and some week days when possible. There are plenty of other coffee shops around my area, but we choose to drive a few extra miles to get Moonbeans. This place is super popular and was suggested by some friends in the area. I ordered the latte and my wife ordered straight black coffee. I like coffee in general and I drink it every day and this one was a bit lacking in terms of a balanced flavor of coffee to milk ratio. I tried my wife's black coffee which I normally drink and it was all right however it wasn't great. We also ordered the dirty chai which was it Thai tea with espresso and I can definitely say that was really really good. The sweetness was balanced the Thai flavor as well as espresso flavor and I really enjoyed it. I really like this place and I would recommend it to my friends as well. Their cold brew isn't very good, but their dirty thai tea was decent (a bit too sweet). The cold brew tasted like old coffee and wasn't smooth at all. Heard good things about this place, so I checked it out with my sister. Service was friendly. There weren't a lot of places to sit inside, so we sat outside. Not a lot of ambiance, so if you're looking for a cute place to sit and chat, this ain't it. The coffee was good but not so amazing that I would go back for it. Honestly I keep switching between 4 stars and 5 stars for this place - really good service and pretty good coffee. It was about the same price as Starbucks and the coffee was good! I got the iced Leprechuan and the iced Almond Joe. I feel like it's hard to be discriminatory about iced coffee drinks since they taste kind of similar because it's cold and sweet (but not too sweet which I liked). My friends got the Dirty Asian and said that the thai tea overpowered the espresso for better or worse but overall liked the drink. I also got the mediterranean bagel which was a really good price considering how much was in it (I believe avocado and egg and sundried tomato for like 5.50). It was a little bland for my tastes but it was a steal and most people probably want a not super spicy/overpowering breakfast bagel. Staff was really nice and great service all around. I'm surprised I have not posted a more detailed review here as I've been a regular customer for over a year. I know the owner Nick, his mom, and a lot of staff who work there. They have incredible service! The double or triple expresso is great and the food is good too. I recommend the Healthy sandwich for those who are food conscious. They also do a good job updating their menu every 6 months or so. You could bring your friends to chill or even work here too with their free wifi. read more

We love to travel around and find local coffee shops instead of stopping at the typical Love that this is a locally roasted handcrafted coffee located in a shopping center. If you are looking for a real cup of coffee or a place unlike a mainstream shop this would be a great place for you. I ordered the Milky Way (caramel & vanilla) thinking it would be sweet enough but it still had the strong coffee taste. It wasn't bad by any means it was very tasty just not overly sweet. There is not a lot of sitting space so don't come thinking you will grab a table and hang out. The chairs that were there were occupied for awhile. The food: We ordered bagels and bacon burrito. Tasty and perfect for a quick breakfast. The kids LOVED the bagels and cream cheese. read more
