I've always insisted on doing everything myself so it was a big leap for me to decide to cater this event. Stacy knew right away that I was going to need some extra hand-holding and she guided me expertly through the entire process. Stacy created the perfect Covid-safe menu that included individually plated appetizers, a served salad course and a served luncheon buffet. I've attached a few pictures but they don't do it justice - everything looked amazing and tasted delicious! And everyone felt very safe with the individual servings. My guests just raved about the the food, presentation and expert service! Stacy and her assistant IIja provided prompt delivery and setup, followed by a super cleanup with "leftover" food packaged nicely for the after-party! Everything was just perfect Stacy, and I can't thank you enough for taking care of every detail so I could enjoy the entire event with my family and friends. I'm a forever, raving fan!

I wasn't expecting fried chicken, but I have to say this place offered way more healthy options and variety than I was expecting. The highlights of my experience were the fried chicken, corn bread, and the super cheesy mac n cheese. The herbs and the crispiness of the chicken was definitely a league above any thing I've had at fast food places that serve fried chicken. The seasoning was done just right without any of bit of saltiness. I am not sure what kind of cheese was used, but the mac n cheese had a firmness to the cheese that was refreshing (I don't like my mac n cheese too runny), and the flavor profile of the cheese tasted of a high end caliber. Corn bread was just the best darn corn bread I've had, with mild sweetness, strong corn flavor, and even good bits of corn mixed in. Very moist and tender, yet crumbles a bit when you handle it. Mixed greens were crisp and fresh and really balanced out the meal with much needed fiber for me. I felt the mushroom and string beans were pretty good, but nothing earth shattering. The shrimp on skewer sticks I felt were a little dry and plain so I don't recommend this as highly as the other items. Sheperd's pie was made from a ground beef layer along with a top layer of mashed sweet potato. The potato layer was very delicious, but the bottom meat layer could have used a little less salt IMO. Overall I had a very positive experience, and even my kids sampled a little of everything. They echoed my sentiments, except for the sheperd's pie, which my daughter was not a fan of.

Quick responses and seamless customer service. Ordered for 100 guests and we were impressed by the amount of food received; there was more than enough to feed our additional last-minute guests we hadn't included in the original headcount. Everything was so light & colorful and tasted just as delicious as it looked. Appreciated the beautiful floral touches to the platters. We got the seasonal fruit platter, assorted viennoiseries, chia pudding, yogurt parfaits and coffee/tea. Per Katie's recommendation we added cookies--which were a huge hit with guests (and staff)! The menu was curated for dairy free/GF/vegan options. The delivery with Ramon went smoothly: right on time, clear communication via text and help with the set up. The whole Bites & Bashes team did such a professional job. You won't regret working with this family-owned business!

I worked with Brooke Kazebee, Director of Events, for about a month leading up to the event. Brooke was incredibly responsive, helpful, and accommodating as we made adjustments to the menu and guest count. She made the planning process easy and stress-free. On the day of the event, the Olive Wood team arrived early, giving them plenty of time to set up their ovens and prepare for service. All four team members were friendly, professional, and communicative throughout the event. And most importantly, the food was AMAZING! Our guests couldn't stop talking about how good the pizza was. We offered seven different pizza options, and every one was a hit. The fresh pasta was delicious, the salad was excellent, and the appetizer trays were beautifully presented and practically works of art. The desserts were incredible as well. After food service was finished, the team carefully packed everything up and cleaned the area before leaving, which was greatly appreciated. This was our first experience with Olive Wood Pizza, and they absolutely exceeded our expectations. From the planning process to the food and service to the cleanup, everything was first-class. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Olive Wood Pizza to friends, family, or colleagues, and we would definitely use them again for a future event. I've been coming to Back Home in Lahaina in the early 2000s since I started working in the South Bay. With our frequent visits, we were given loyalty stamp cards that earned 3 free rewards after reaching a designated tier: beverage, appetizer, & entrée (usually redeem the Lahaina Fried Chicken Entree) or t-shirt. In the early 2010s, we changed our dining time to their "Kids Eat Free on Wednesdays" after H turned toddler, & brought our friends with kids too. While the longstanding promo is no longer active, they occasionally run holiday or event-based kids eat free specials. Their Keiki (kid's meal) Menu includes: main entrée, side, drink, & dessert... it's a great value for the amount of food! I first learned about Back Home in Lahaina from my bank supervisor who lives in the South Bay. Her family loves the authentic Hawaiian comfort foods, particularly the addicting Lahaina Fried Chicken. It's famous for their slightly sweet, light & crunchy chicken. I love adding a splash of NOH Hawaiian Hot Sauce for a l'il heat! There's 2 specials (Beef Stew Curry, Fish & Chips) that I often order when I see it on the menu. And I always order the curry... love the Japanese-inspired curry roux base with mild heat! Usually posted in the late fall & winter, it's the perfect comfort food to counter the chill! When my husband is hungrier than norm, he'll either add an order of Hawaiian Nachos (they use wonton skins as chips instead of tortillas), or replace the entrée with the Back Home Sampler, which has a bit of everything. We've ordered maybe 1/2 of the menu over the years? Sticking to our favs, & adding other items when we're dining with guests. Their entrées are large enough to share between 2 people, & have been doing so in later years whereas I was hangry enough to eat the whole plate on my own. If you still have room for dessert, Haupia or Jello Cheesecakes are both delish to end your meal. I like the former; it's creamy yet light with a delicate, rich coconut filling. The kiddos love the latter for the strawberry jello that adds a sweet bouncy punch of flavor to the tangy cheesecake. The 1st decade's food & service was excellent, & we dined in so much that we knew most of the servers & can ask for "our usual" before we are seated. The timing is almost seamless from entry to our order to paying our check. Our servers were detailed-oriented to make sure everything is in place after serving our food (extra plates & napkins, necessary condiments), refilling our water with no/little prompts, & bringing our check quickly with necessary boxes when there's leftovers. However, the 2nd decade had its ups & down, especially during the pandemic lockdown (the once spacious dining room was awkward & warm with the plexiglass partitions). Gone are our fav servers, loyalty stamp card, & "Kids Eat Free on Wednesdays." What really kept us from returning often is the lack of consistency in food & service. If we're taking an early dinner around 5:30 PM, sometimes we have to wait awhile because there's no host(ess) at the counter. There may be times when we're seated & there's no server around, or I'm waving the menu to catch their eye. Then there's order execution issues: waiting period from our order to expedition time, not everything is served the relatively the same time, food quality (partly raw chicken, stale wonton chips, overcooked chicken tenders, etc.) & quantity (seems like there's a less?) issues. It's common enough to be a deterrent for frequent repeat visits. But when they're on point, it's the best bang for your buck value for a delish Hawaiian meal! Back Home in Lahaina serves some of the best Hawaiian foods around the South Bay. It's a vibrant community hangout, especially when they host live Hawaiian music (usually on Friday evenings) from regular local acts & guest feature artists! Mahalo! Recommended: Everything on the order list, especially the Lahaina Fried Chicken & Beef Stew Curry.
