V60. Spicy Tofu Soup-Bun Bo Hue Chay

**vegetarian review ** We went an hr before closing. The place was empty and we were quickly seated. The vegan menu is huge with many mock meet options. We got the beef skewers, spicy tofu noodle soup and kung Pao chicken. All the food was quick to arrive and extremely delicious. The portions were big. Need to go back and try more things.

Moonlight Cafe has been my favorite Phó place in Seattle. I used to live close by and used to frequent this place whenever I wanted some Phó. The restaurant itself is nice but could use some updating for the price you're paying for their food. I was a little worried because the bathroom looked recently renovated but still looked like it needed work. It didn't have a soap dispenser and the soap they offered was a soap bottle that was all used but had water added to it and actually was out. I was barely able to get some to wash my hands. When you 1st walk in you'll notice that they use a table to the left as prep space (which is interesting). We both enjoyed our Phó (1 chicken the other a combo) as well as their fried wontons. One thing I couldn't get over is how much the prices have increased. Granted it's been 10 years since the last time I've visited but a 180% increase is quite the sticker shock. I haven't seen this much of an increase at restaurants here in Houston (been in Houston since leaving Seattle) so it was quite a shock. Overall the food and service are great.

There's a small parking lot shared with others. The cafe was no frills with a karaoke setup which may have a busy crowd on the weekends. Service was pretty slow - dishes came out one at a time instead of all together. Additionally, there was a bit of wait in between dishes. I got the black pepper beef and although the dish was tender and flavorful, it was on the pricier end. The dish as $26 and if you wanted rice, that was an additional $4. After tax and tip, it was almost $40. I will say the flavors are okay. I tried my friends lemongrass dish and it was good as well but on the moist end.

Moonlight is the kind of place that is always good- I've been coming here since I was little and have never been super disappointed. The worst thing is the wait but it's always worth it. Popped in at 8pm and ordered bun rieu and it was so good, I was pretty bummed at the wait since our food came at 8:30/40...but it was so flavorful that it was worth it.

I got Hot n Sour Soup from this place over a year ago. I went there today since I was in the area again to get the same soup since its was soooo amazin. I also got a Wonton soup for later, i know it'll ahhmazing as well 5stars Moonlight!!!!!

For $20, the grilled chicken garlic noodle chow mein is amazing! Service was good as well; friendly people here.

Great customer service, the food is 7/10 HORRIBLE PRICE! THEY CHARGED US $6 for a soup (no protein) This is unacceptable! Literally feel like we just get ripped off! Also, 3% for credit card surcharge!

Build your own pho half way finished and lemonade.

Loved the broth! So delicious, very kind service, waitress was pleasant when I asked her to repeat the question of if I wanted thick or thin noodles as I'm hard of hearing. Delicious lemonade. Parking lot whoop whoop, not very common in Seattle. As it gets colder definitely consider coming here for a warm soup, I hear the restroom door doesn't lock easily so consider using the bathroom at home or your next destination but nowhere can be perfect (and it might just be fixed by the time you're considering coming here and reading my review). Seating is nice and spacious, finally a place I don't feel like I'm sitting on people's laps to eat or constantly getting bumped into. Music isn't overpowering or loud, nice low volume. I also wanted to add that the food and drinks seemed a fair price to me with Seattle pricing, I also came on a Saturday at 6pm and had very prompt service, no delays with food arrival outside of regular expectations.

If there were 10 stars I would give them! This place is awesome. A dependable standby. I go here at least once a week. I sit and read a book and enjoy something different each time from their menu. They have full vegan and a full non-vegan menus. Lots of awesome variety! Never had a single bad dish. I often bring a to-go container from home so I can take my leftovers and have another meal another day. It is a decent bargain. Friendly folks, ample seating, and great projector videos of life / farming / cooking in South Asia. Absolutely outstanding place. It is my go-to!

Wow, I can't believe I wrote a review a while ago and haven't since! Well, over 10 years later and the food is delicious. I hadn't been here in a long time until I recently became vegan and I absolutely am on a mission to try every vietnamese vegan restaurant there is to try. This place has just really good quality, decent service, and consistently good food. My review is based on the vegan menu as I haven't had their meat options here. I'm honestly a creature of habit and really like what I like. My go to is usually the grilled pork with tofu pie and shredded tofu (com dac biet) - aka the rice combo. I love the tofu pie and shredded tofu. The tofu pie gives you the egg pie essence and you do not miss egg or pork at all. The grilled pork is addicting as heck - slightly crispy parts with a tender and chewy bite of meat that really resembles pork. I love it. The veggies that come with it (pickled carrots and daikon w/ cucumbers and lettuce) are also fresh tasting. I also have had their "pork" fried rice and that is also delicious and savory. My other go-to dish is always going to be the combo claypot stewed meat with tofu, mushrooms, and fake meat - i always add steamed eggplants with this dish, and is the most heartiest, warmest, most comforting dish ever! A bite of tofu or eggplant with some vegan chicken on a bite of rice with their pickled jalepenos... that is chef's kiss right there. Great sweet and savory bite of sauce that is "stewed" with the pot. their sesame beef is also great - i'd recommend. hearty, tasty, and super addicting. Their stirfry tofu with veggies were great as well - sometimes a little too watery for me, but overall, a very nice cook to this dish. the other day I had their sauteed gai lan with mushrooms (and gluten protein) - that was pretty good. I really appreciate how thoughtfully they cook - the food is always hot, fresh, and cooked really well. You cannot beat the quality and the price. You must eat their pickled jalepenos, my favorite! and their chili sauce is good too. Service is typically pretty good, they wait tables and refill your water. Occasionally slow, but they're really nice. Parking is ample in the lot, usually never an issue.

First timer with a low scored rating but willing to give this place another try, and order other item(s) on the menu. Was seated immediately and the two ladies working the floor are doing their best so be patient! I ordered the (vegan) sandwich combo. I chose the mushroom and tofu sandwich with (4) gyozas and Thai iced tea. I think I'll pass on the Thai iced tea but everything else was delicious. The gyozas were the perfect texture/crunchy and the banh mi was flavourful and packed! LOVE LOVE LOVE! Also, shared the (vegan) veggie fried rice with my pops. We both agreed it could've been booked with less oil but overall, it was delicious!! The minor dislikes won't discourage another visit. I'll be back :)

    Sesame Beef
    Conner J.

This place has some of the best vegetarian meat I have gotten. Every time I have to ask if it is vegetarian when it comes because of how convincing it is. We always get the sesame beef and it always is spot on. The crispness and juiciness of the protein is wonderful and the vegetables are perfectly cooked. Combined with a side of rice and it is a great ratio between the sauces/juices of the dish and rice to soak it up. It is also a good portion too. My wife and I shared one and were perfectly content with the amount of food. They start you off with some good tea on the house that is a good palette cleanser and nice way to start your meal especially on a cold wet day. The service is nice and quick as well and are very knowledgeable. Overall a great place for vegetarians and non vegetarians alike.

I can't say it was anything super special but it was definitely worth a try. Food & drink: (4/5) There are for sure certain items that they excel at and some that need some work. We got the banh uot tower with heo quay, banh khot, banh mi chao, and com tam. I see the appeal of the eye catching banh uot tower, but unfortunately I felt like it was very mediocre. I felt like the portion of veggie and meat wasn't enough for all the rice rolls, plus the actual heo quay was dry with barely any crispy skin. I think they also forgot to give us the heo quay because we had to ask for it much after the banh uot came out. I would skip this next time. I would also skip the banh khot as it was on the softer, chewier side when my personal preference is light and crispy. Those who do like it soft will definitely enjoy it though. As for flavor, it had an extremely prominent coconut taste- it usually isn't so strong in banh khot so I wasn't so fond of this. My family did really enjoy the com tam and banh mi chao. I only had one bite of each, but I would get these items again. Their drinks on the other hand, were delightful. I got the tamarind black tea and my step dad got the lychee green tea. Both were super refreshing and even addicting. I think they tend to do sweet items better, including their rice crispy treats that they sell on the front counter. Service: (4/5) The service here didn't really stand out much but I didn't pay much mind to it. They were very nice but there was a sense of disorganization, mostly due to us not being acknowledged when we first walked in and having some of our food forgotten about.
