Grain House offers consistently good, affordable sushi and ramen. The set up is unique, you order at the counter, then find your seat. There's a self serve station of sauces, utensils, and napkins for you to help yourself to - which I kinda like. The food comes out when it's ready. Simple food done right. Great location and cute interior.

Wanted a quick bite to go and decided to try this spot. There were a couple of other groups here when we went but we were able to order right away through a tablet. And in about 5-10 minutes we got our order. It ended up being a pretty below mid banh mi, also really expensive for what you get. It didn't really seemed filled, the bread did not taste fresh or crisp or flaky. I didn't find either of the meat flavoring very good either, overall I would recommend to avoid (atleast for banh mi, maybe I'll try the pho or sushi or drinks)

    Fire Mountain Roll ---yummy!

Stopped in here after a busy day of work in Seattle. Staff is great, the restaurant is very clean and the food is amazing! I ordered the fire roll and a cup of hot tea with a side of both the salad and the miso soup. Their homemade salad dressing is so, so good !! Everything was amazing, prices are reasonable, and I'll be back!!

The food relative to cost was really good in this area so bonus points for value. We had the vegetarian pho and the beef pho. My partner liked his beef pho quite a bit. I liked my broth and veggies/tofu, but we both agreed there's too many noodles in it. The drinks were really good (classic boba and Thai tea). We were impressed at the quality of the sushi too - we split a spider roll. Overall there were lots of vegetarian options on the menu too. Overall, we felt the food was much better than we would have anticipated for the overall ambiance (seems much more like a grab and go place and the dine in was pretty dead when we arrived). I can see why they keep it more relaxed and casual though being so close to Seattle U. The service was good and friendly. You order at the front and they bring it out. I'd definitely go back for the drinks and to try their bahn mis too.

Was a tad disappointed getting some take out from here. One sushi roll and one banh mi for almost $30. The sushi roll (Tiger roll) was tasty but extremely small and thin. You would need many many rolls here to be even near satisfied. The banh mi on the other hand, I was excited for the pate inside since many other options in this area do not have it. But even though it was on their menu, it was unfortunately not in the sandwich itself. The bread on the banh mi was also very tough to chew through. Lastly I added a miso soup and it was not normal, it feels like they added some soy sauce? Dark brown and too salty. Overall there were definitely a few things I wish were different with my experience here but I haven't tried it in person.

My fiance and I love this sushi place when we are around this area. Infact we ordered from this sushi place on doordash as well when I delivered my son and it was just as good and hit the spot. The service is quick and they have wonderful sushi. I will say the restaurant itself is on the smaller side but is cozy. There is convenient street parking as well, but we did pay for parking.

I'm not sure I ordered the right thing from their menu to really be judging anything but they had so many varying options it was kinda overwhelming. Sushi and Japanese rice bowls, but also pho and Vietnamese vermicelli bowls? i wanted to attempt to pick a healthy option where I could save a portion to eat another day so I got the tofu vermicelli bowl. The tofu was kinda bland, and the bowl also had veggies and peanuts. The only taste profile was basically the sauce. My friend got a sushi and liked it through.

Orgasm Roll, Fire Mountain Roll - IG @bougiefoodieboi

This is a fairly affordable fast casual restaurant that serves a variety of Asian food, more specifically Japanese and Vietnamese, such as sushi, ramen, pho, and banh mi. We personally tried 2 sushi rolls - the orgasm roll and fire mountain roll. Overall, I enjoyed it but the rolls are a bit on the too salty side. Each order came with either miso soup or salad, so I opted for the miso soup, which is a bit too salty. The fire mountain roll is fairly aesthetic and has spicy tuna, salmon, white tuna, and masago, with California roll as the base. The orgasm roll they say is the most popular item, perhaps because of the name, but more so it is really delicious. It is a baked roll with fried shrimp inside and salmon on top, among others. Portions can be a little light so I would say it will take 2 rolls to be full, but it is a nice place to go for a meal that you can more easily adjust in terms of portions.

Came with friends and we all got pho and a thai milk tea. The food was really yummy and just what we needed on a chilly day! Service was super friendly and fast. There are tables inside and we saw people coming in to grab takeout orders as well. It was cute inside. Would come here again soon!

    Calamari sticks (8), and salad

Has a pretty casual ambience resembling a café. We spoke with the owners - nice people to talk to, by the way - who mentioned that it's popular with a lot of students, especially those who live in the nearby dorms, who want some affordably priced sushi. We ordered quite a variety of things, all quite interesting. The calamari sticks oddly resembled mozzarella sticks and felt a bit unusual but were still fried to perfection. The pho was also interesting as you could pick your broth and two proteins instead of just ordering from a standard menu. The end result was ok - the broth could have used more flavor and I would have preferred to see more garnishes - but it kept me tided over. The sushi was by far the highlight, with a creative menu and lots of variety. We ended up getting the Fish Kettle, the Xoxo, and some sake Nigiri. The Xoxo was nice and crispy and generously dressed with sauce. The Fish Kettle had enough fresh raw fish to satisfy me (though it was lacking in the hot oil department - which I was hoping would be a highlight based on the menu description). The rolls are a little small but they still pack a lot of flavor, and the quality of the seafood is about what you pay for at $11-13 a roll. They also come with side salads that are mostly lettuce and cucumber but come with an intriguing ginger dressing. Overall a solid place whose main draw is its variety, affordability, and proximity to the University. It's more casual eatery than traditional sushi bar, but I still look forward to stopping by again to check out more of their sushi.

Beef Pho w/ beefball and mushroom
    Irene L.

This is just for the beef pho w/ beef meatball and mushrooms that I tried. While the amount of food was a good amount for the price 12.95 + tax&tip but the broth flavor could be improved. The broth was sweet which I liked but there wasn't enough aroma from the usual pho spices. I wish there was a better taste in that aspect. I asked for boiled beansprouts which they gladly complied. I understand that mushrooms are probably for the vegetarians but it didn't add much to the pho so I would suggest to get a different meal option if you can. Beef meatballs are standard. I'm glad I got to try this new restaurant but if I were to come back, I would probably not get pho, my friend got the beef stew ramen that she demolished, she did end up having to season it more with soy sauce and pepper. It's nice that they have additional seasonings for people to customize a bit.

For it being less than half an hour before closing, it was packed inside, with two sections of seating for various group sizes, and a casually loud interior with a counter full of water jugs and glass cups in front of a nice plant backdrop with the name of this place in lights. Menu serves a ton of Asian fusion dishes along with some regular entrees and a ton of cocktails and wine. From my sis's recommendation when she went, I got myself the banh mi smash burger after deciding between that and the Pho-rench dip my brother-in-law had. My friend got himself the La Vong fish sandwich, which I didn't get to try though we both did split an order of honey sriracha Brussel sprouts. - For the banh mi smash burger, think of ALL the essential ingredients of a standard banh mi sandwich; then put in a regular beef patty, throw in lemongrass beef as the other meat and add provolone cheese as a complement to the pate-mayo spread. That's what this is in a nutshell, and it tastes exactly like a banh mi sandwich as a result, only in burger form. This was an absolute hit and win for me; beef patty was juicy, condiments were fresh, lemongrass beef was equally as juicy, and the side of fries made this a very filling dish! - I normally don't like Brussel sprouts because of their similar taste profile to asparagus, but I ate a ton of the honey sriracha Brussel sprouts from here. It's sweet and tangy, both of which mask the oddly earthy and bitter tones of regular Brussel sprouts. They're also roasted which further gets rid of that bitter taste I don't enjoy. We rushed a little eating since they were close to closing but we loved everything we got here! Just glancing at the menu during a stroll in Cap Hill interested me and I wanted to give this place a try. Paid a visit on a Friday around 6PM and was able to get a table fairly quickly. There are parking garages in the building that Nue is located at, though I am not sure about parking validation. There should be plenty of street parking as the restaurant is located more on the outskirts of Cap Hill. I got to the restaurant via a 10 minute walk from the nearest light rail station. Service was a bit slow when went, I think after we were seated, there unfortunately were two large groups that can in afterwards. We had to flag down the service workers to place our order and get the check. As for the food, it came out after 10 minutes one at a time. The restaurant itself is decorated nicely, lots of memorabilia from various countries and even the check came out in a passport-esque binder. We got a couple of things, which I'll review down below: Carribean Pineapple Cornbread ($8): Tasty cornbread that has nice coconut flakes spread through the batter and around the cornbreads. The cornbread was moist and there is a pineapple undertone in the flavor profile. One downside was that the quantity is quite small, I think for the price, you get like 2 3x3 squares of cornbread, which I think is unfortunately not enough as an appetizer even. Chengdu Wings ($24): These wings do have a tasty flavor profile and have a fragrant aroma when you bite into them. The batter is crispy and they are pleasing to eat! Once again, I unfortunately think the suffers in terms of quantity - you maybe get like 3 wings for $24, which I personally think is a very steep price for fried chicken wings, regardless of the flavor profile. I understand that not everyone can handle very spicy flavor, and personally think that despite the name being Chengdu Wings, it serves as a good entry to Sichuanese cuisine for people given the motivation of the restaurant. Malaysian Dhal ($22): A pleasant dish that has a fragrant coconut, lime, and lemongrass flavor that represents the flavors of Malaysia well. The stew has a pleasant consistency and each bite coats your tongue with the fragrant flavors. The roti is flaky on the outside and soft on the inside - perfect for enjoying this dish. African Bunny Chow ($24): Probably the most filling dish that we have ordered at Nue - I think if you are hungry, maybe go for this one. There is a decent amount of meat in this dish, and the flavors are tasty - it feels like a slightly more toned down Dhal in terms of fragrance, but has a pleasant thicker consistency. In the end, I think Nue is better served as a Tapas-esque restaurant than a place you would visit if you are hungry. Prices vs. quantity does suffer quite a bit at Nue unfortunately, which is why I think it serves as a place to sample cuisines in a night out and then maybe visit elsewhere to complete your dinner. The food is flavorful and pleasing to the general audience, which is a good thing for people who generally aren't very adventurous in their culinary horizons. I'm not sure I would revisit, but I would definitely recommend this to people that lean more on the safer side of dining out.
