Sold my Acura with 220,000 miles. Marty maintained it as well as a few others in town. I feel I got my moneys worth every time and he did the timing belt at 120,000 miles so WE got lots of value out of the car. remember that they will beat dealer prices any day and Preventive maintenance is based on average usage and relatively expensive. if the car has been abused it is gona cost you. these guys are fair, honest and knowledgeable. I was traveling thru the area when my rear axle bearing broke. I have a wonderful mechanic near my home in Chatsworth (San Fernando Valley), but I didn't want to have the truck towed that far. I'm very picky about auto mechanics, having had bad experiences in the past. Moonlight Motors was recommended to me by the AAA towtruck driver, and I couldn't be happier with their service. Immediately after my truck was towed there, they called me, and kept in touch three times daily, informing me about the problem and the progress of the work. On the last day, they picked me up at my hotel at checkout time, and although the work on my truck wasn't complete, Matt Smith, the manager, let me work with my laptop in the waiting room. They treated my dog and me like royalty, even offering to let me borrow a car to get something to eat. When the work was complete, they saved the parts and showed me the problem and explained every detail of the work they'd done. I highly recommend them and will of course use them for general auto service when in the area again. read more

Moonlight Motors is beyond wonderful, trustworthy, & reliable! They do amazing work and finish in less time than they say it will take. I take my bmw there always...especially since bmw tried to rip me off numerous times...saying something was going to cost me 500 dollars and Moonlight Motors did it for less than 50 and letting me know the part was only 15dollars and not what bmw was telling me! I got updates via text on my phone with pictures showing what they found and recommendations from the technician on what needed to be done to fix the issues. They discussed options instead of upselling me with the repairs over the phone and kept me informed as the repairs progressed. Our car broke down...had it towed to Moonlight. I had read the reviews from this site and decided to try them out. I was impressed. When I called, Adam answered and was polite and helpful. He said he could look at the car within two hours. He kept his word and not only did he find the problem but had it fixed. He only charged us $95.00 for an electrical problem. I had my truck pulled in here from another shop that couldn't fix it and WOW, they are great. After spending $500 at another shop I went in and talked to Adam and after about 10 minutes of just talking to him he knew what was wrong. A bad relay switch. They did a diagnostic on the truck, kept it all day to make sure it was running right and it only cost my around $150 to get it out. The previous shop I was at wanted another $900 to fix it. This place is great and I will only bring my cars here from now on. read more

I have been going to Moonlight Motors since they were recommend to me back in 2005. Marty and Adam are stand up guys that are complete professionals who get the job done and are more than reasonable with the cost... Just to clarify for some of the more confused yelpers who have left some less than stellar reviews for Moonlight...when Marty or Adam quote you a job it includes the suggested repairs to support the current repair...lets take my car I just had in this week. The spark plug wires were toast and need to be replaced along with the spark plugs....now the book and any decent mechanic will tell you if you are replacing these parts it is suggested you replace the cap and rotor as well, which Marty did bring to my attention. After discussing the price of these parts and the condition of the current cap and rotor a decision was made to wait on these parts. I did not feel pressured to make unnecessary repairs, I was informed of my options and chose the one that I was comfortable with. On a personal note, i recently found myself in the hospital for an unexpected emergency surgery and when my wife needed help to get one of our cars fixed, it was Marty and Adam who went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure she did not have to worry about a car repair while I was in the hospital. They took care of everything for her including any rides to and from the shop. They work is top notch and the entire staff is friendly and helpful. This is the first negative review I have ever given, and it makes me very uncomfortable to do so. However, we will not be doing business with Moonlight Motors again--owner Marty thinks he gave us the boot, but my husband said, "We are NEVER going back there again" days ago, after I told him what happened. Short story...someone there broke my door handle, and, rather than taking complete ownership and apologizing and offering to replace it, Marty said, "How about if we split it?" I told my husband and he was outraged at the nerve of asking us to pay ANYTHING for something their employee did (the handle worked perfectly before, and the car has only 19K miles). After I told him my husband's position, he said he would do it at no charge, but that we are not to return as customers. My chin dropped to the floor in disbelief--I took the car back, they replaced the new door handle, and we are done. The ladies in the office are lovely--one star for them:) and one other star assuming that the work they did on the transmission was done properly. read more

I've gone to Moonlight Motors several times but the last several times I have had an appt. and a quoted time of how long it would take. It was only an oil change. I called in the morning to let them know I had to wait with the car and how long would it be. They quoted me 90 mins to 2 hrs. When I arrived (even 10 mins early) , they said it could be more than 2 hours and that there were 6 people ahead of me. I told them I just called several hrs earlier and they said 90 mins to 2 hrs. I said that I couldn't wait longer than 2 hrs, which is why I called in the morning. I scheduled my day around this appt, only to find out that they are really like a doctors ofc, they cram in as many people as possible without regard to the fact that people have made appts. I then called several other auto places to see if that's normal, and they said that if I have an appt and they give me a quoted time, then that's the time they will be done, of course give or take a couple of mins. This has happened 3 times, where I have had an appt and quoted time of when the car would be ready, only to find that they change it when I arrive. I'm done with them!!! read more

As someone who runs his own business, I was so so impressed with Moonlight Motors! They are hard working, honest, super friendly and easy to work with. It is clear they care about their customers even more than making a $. I brought my truck in because I thought I was experiencing a similar pattern I had previously ignored, which resulted in me needing to replace my rotors and break pads. I worn the rotors so far down, they couldn't be machined and had to be replaced. So, after seeing a similar pattern and hearing what I thought was grinding, I took my truck in expecting to hear how much was wrong with it and what I would owe them...They test drove it, took the brakes apart and couldn't find an issue. They noticed my brake fluid was low and so they topped it off for me and did not charge me ANYTHING for all of that! That was not what I expected at all, given my experience with mechanics around here! I am so happy to say I have found my new and permanent auto shop!!! Thanks guys! read more

I am a single female with no real male friends or relative close by to help me with my automotive needs. I have been a customer of Moonlight Motors for many years. They have always been upfront and honest with me about what my vehicle "really needed". I believe they understand how important in business to establish a relationship of trust. This should be first and foremost in every business owner's mind but unfortunately it is not. On one occasion my car wouldn't start and the problem was either the starter or the alternator. The starter was replaced but it ended up being the alternator. They credited my first repair towards the second repair and I received a alternator without any added expense. They also had a loaner car they I was able to use which helped me keep my job. I believe that the crew at Moonlight will always strive to do the "right thing" by way of their customers. I have taken the time to mention them to all my friends because I want them to have the same experience that I have had.. Purely Positive..Thanks guys for being a business I can write home about... My 2001 van would not start despite having a new battery. Arranged to have it towed to the dealer for repair. The tow truck driver suggested that I have it towed to Moonlight Motors as it would be less expensive and he tows quite a few cars there and they have good reviews on Yelp. Well I took a chance, Marty and team took care of the van, diagnosed the problem, replaced the ignition switch, and while in the shop repaired the brakes that were shot and changed the oil. Although it was an old van, Marty, Adam and the team took the repair job as serious as they would a newer car. I was kept informed on the status of the job and they did not try and find things to fix just to pad the final bill. I was very happy with the work done and the price was reasonable. I will use Moonlight Motors again when I need car repairs. I wish I had known they were around years ago! Thank you Moonlight Motors for a stress-free car repair and for the tin of cookies that arrived a couple weeks later, what a surprise! read more
