Hubby goes to Moonshine Alley when he's early to pick me up from work & will have a beer. We were going to a show at PPAC & he wanted to try the Appy Hour menu. After a kinda meh first experience last year for Providence Restaurant Week, we decided to give it another try. And we were glad we did! It was a Friday night & pretty busy for 5:30pm. I'm glad I made a reservation! Our server, Ayden, made the whole experience very special! He was personable, available & fun to chat with as he is also a semi-professional wrestler. We were there to try the nachos as they looked delicious when other diners ordered them. WOW! It is a HUGE platter of chips topped with shredded monterey jack, homemade black bean corn salsa, beer cheese queso & a drizzle of guacamole & sour cream. I asked for extra queso because I like everything to be smothered & that it was! Two people could easily make a meal of this platter alone. And we didn't even add any protein (pulled pork, grilled or crispy chicken option)! Not knowing the size of the nachos, we wanted to try something else. I asked Ayden: quesadilla or Nashville naan. He said for former but we felt that we were already doing a Tex-Mex inspired dish so we opted for the latter. On top of naan, crispy chicken with mozzarella, smoked bacon, scallions & house-infused hot honey drizzle. A good amount of toppings & the naan was delightfully chewy. I thought it was going to be Nashville hot spicy given the name but you have to order Nashville hot or buffalo chicken for an additional charge. We have been wanting to try Moonshine for a while. The wife and I went for an early dinner. We sat right down and the place looks like it could be super fun with the live music later on. We were greeted and ordered the pulled pork nachos. I think the biggest mistake restaurants make with nachos is... they put the chips down and just pile on toppings on top. So imagine, pulled pork, guacamole, Sour cream and a bean / corn salsa just piled on top. Yup all the chips were mushy. No cheese! The server came back to take our entree order and I asked for a side of cheese. She said oh thats weird they are usually cheesy. She comes back with a ramekin of beer cheese. She says oh the cook forgot to put it on. ‍ She took our order. I had to order the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. I absolutely love Hot Chicken. I've been to Nashville a few times and eat it frequently here as well. Well, the fries were cold. Salted nicely, but 1 bite in and you know they needed 5 more minutes in the fryer. Ok, it happens. I cut my Hot Chicken sandwich in 1/2. It's really hard to cut thru. It's even barely warm on the outside. Fine... well I take a bite and somethings isn't right. I look at the chicken and it's 80% raw in the middle. I spit out the chicken. I call the server over. She apologized which was nice. Asked if I wanted something else. I said no. My wife ordered the salad with salmon. She said it was OK, but she list her appetite as well after my chicken was raw. The manager came over and apologized, and took it off the bill. That was nice, but I really think the rest of our meal should have been comp'd. You gave me raw chicken. Probably the absolute worst thing to serve in a restaurant. Our second visit here, appreciate the western and sporty atmosphere of this place and the food. They offer moonshine tasting flights (but no more bourbon flight sadly) we enjoyed the flight moonshine creams, 4 tastes of flavored cream like Bailey's but not: banana, strawberry, coffee, and pecan. Fun and definitely had not tasted these before. We enjoyed a rich 'n melt apart rack of ribs, side of kale-based coleslaw and chose sweet potato fries ( just wish the kitchen had put the fries on the side so they weren't buried under juicy ribs because the fries arrived very soggy). Dinner was made better by an excellent server who was friendly and fun. Next time a football game is on I'll keep this big wall screen in mind! Live music happens several times a week so I'll be back again for these and the ribs! Had a great lunch with friends at Moonshine Alley today. Cristian is a top notch server & bartender. He was by himself but balanced it beautifully. Very personable and checked in repeatedly to make sure we had everything we needed. Food was delicious. One friend is from "the south" and was very impressed with the southern flavor (including the tea). I had the "Ring of Fire" chicken wrap & it was perfect as were the hand cut fries. Moonshine is a spacious establishment with excellent service. I had the espresso martini--twice--and both absolutely hit the spot. Charlie, the bartender, was incredibly welcoming and made one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had. Honestly, I'd come back just for him. We had great conversation and he kept me laughing the whole time. Came in on a Tuesday afternoon and it wasn't packed at all, which made for a relaxed and comfortable vibe. There is a happy hour deal Monday to Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. where you can get hash puppies, cornbread, loaded tots, fried pickles, and nachos. I had the loaded tots and they were amazing. The creamy cheese sauce was something I've never tasted. I will definitely be back for the dinner menu. There are tons of TVs and even a stage with a massive projector screen--definitely looks like a great spot to catch a game or some live entertainment. Came for the first time for food the other week. Service was on the slower side and food was entirely average and pricier than the quality. Valet option for dinner was a big plus because parking can be awful there. After dinner we met friends there for a drink and that's where this place shines. Live music is usually pretty good but the band this night took MANY breaks. (Definitely see Nothing Personal if they're playing, they always put on a great show!!) Providence is a cute little city with a bunch of flavor packed between their surroundings. Moonshine alley is all about the southern delectable bites. It looks like a great place to go in the evening for a drink or to listen to live music. When we went it was in the afternoon so obviously it was empty. I wish I knew our server's name because she was a sweetheart. If I ever come back down to PVD I would solely come back to this restaurant to see her lol. Her playful energy when it came to recommendations for food and overall process of serving our food etc made us all laugh. They had so many different things on the food and drinks on the menu. They also had gluten free sandwich buns for $2 extra which was important since one of my friends cannot have gluten or it's not pretty. Our server loved the cheese curds so when we got her glowing reviews about it we were even more excited to try. It was delicious, I mean who doesn't love dough and cheese. I was oddly craving fish and chips and so I got that and it was delicious as well and they had the vinegar for the fries which i was delighted about. A little annoying that they don't put pricing for any of their drinks on the menu especially when it's a group trip and you have to figure out numbers after. The staff was hustling on a Saturday night; they were efficient but not excessively friendly. We inquired about the sangria being served to others, were offered a sample and indulged. It was so good! Had some corn bread (yes, as good as it looks) and chicken tenders to round off the deliciously unhealthy meal. They also have moonshine flights, you don't see that too often. Great place near PPAC and Firewater activities. Cocktails were well prepared and food was good. We had apps earlier, so just had the mains. My buddy had fish and chips, which he liked but it was made with cod instead of catfish, so more New England than Nashville. His wife and me had their version of Nashville Hot Chicken, which was good chicken, but not really Nashville Hot Chicken. My son lives in Nashville so I eat Nashville hot chicken pretty often, which is made with a spicy rub mix, not a sauce out of a bottle. The staff was great! I have not ever until yesterday returned nachos, the cheese looked like it had been sitting there and the chicken was dry and not even hot (Luke warm at best). The worst nachos ever . The atmosphere was very much the feel of a downtown Nashville restaurant & bar. The service was also excellent. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals as well, Ribs (could be a larger portion) and a club sandwich (which I was told very good). On the Sunday afternoon on a Father's Day. This is my second and third visit the Foods the amazing. I had the burger today and a salad as a side. The burger was juicy and freshly made nothing frozen. If you're a fan of Nashville's Honky Tonk Highway, you've gotta visit, Moonshine Alley! Came through on Easter Sunday, and they were one of the few places open. Stopped in for a cocktail and was just relaxing before our dinner plans. The interior was decorated with a rustic southern theme, complete with wooden barrels and mason jars lining the bar. The music selection was mostly live country concerts with large screens displaying them alongside some various sporting events. Didn't explore the menu much, but I did have their Nashville Bloody Mary, and this thing was the perfect appetizer cocktail before dinner. A must try as it comes with bacon, spicy chicken slider, and olive on their skewers. Swapped the vodka for bourbon as well. The bar staff was very welcoming and attentive, making a few suggestions and keeping us aware of our order times. We tried a buffalo chicken naan which was good. I ordered french onion soup. It was just ok. The onions were a bit crunchy still, flavor was ok. The main issue was our entrees. We were both really disappointed with the entrees. I ordered beef brisket and my wife ordered the steak tips. The brisket was terrible, to the point I really wanted to say something to the manager but I decided not too. It was bland, tough, chewy, the connective tissue was rubbery. It was definitely cooked too fast and not long enough. It was bland, I couldn't taste seasoning and asked for bbq sauce. This was easily the worst brisket I've ever had. My wife's steak tips were over cooked and really chewy. I didn't like my slaw and didn't eat it. I did like the corn bread, that was probably the best cornbread I've had in a long time.
