I've been to Moonshine BBQ about three times in the last month because of their menu, with the added bonus of a state quarantine compliant outdoor patio and heated pods. Their family style/sized BBQ platters are delicious and plentiful, a true bounty for those who love mixing meats (chicken, brisket, pulled pork, ribs, sausages...) and authentic seasonings. We are true fans of their tangy and regular BBQ sauces. Their drink selection, from moonshine to draft beer, adds a unique twist to the experience. A very refined selection of flavors that always leave you wanting more; their salads sandwiches, burgers and appetizers are excellent as well. We've had great luck with their first come, first served table philosophy so we haven't had to order online or to go, which they do as well as catering. My family has been here now 3 times and Moonshine BBQ has yet to disappoint. We typically order various meats and sides, my kids love their fries and ribs. Today we tried the Brisket Blue Cheese Burger and it was AMAZING. We drizzled some of the sweet bbq sauce on it and it somehow made a perfect burger better! The menu had a good.balance of burgers and bbq. I had a tough time deciding. I am a huge mac & cheese fan so I went with the Pretzel Crusted Mac & Cheese. It comes with smoked chicken and bacon. After a local city meeting, a group of us headed here afterwards for some drinks and food. Cody had been before and seemed to really like the spot, so I was excited to try it! The staff was very accommodating to our large party. They made sure everyone got their orders in and at the end they were happy to help keep everyone's checks separate. Cody and I ordered: - Sliders appetizer (comes with 3 sliders and fries, you can pick the sliders. We chose chicken, brisket, and mushroom) - Nachos - Subbed the regular fries with the sliders for sweet potato waffle fries The chips to the nachos tasted fresh made and were nice and crispy. I really enjoyed them. I ate the mushroom slider and it was delicious! I love mushrooms as well. The waitress brought us the wrong fries at first, but let us keep them and brought out the waffle fries still for us. Overall we had a fun time last night! Went for dinner this evening. Super unimpressed. Fries were amazing; everything else was absolutely terrible. We sat outside with a 2 other tables and were all ignored by our server. I wish I could say the food was good. Brisket was sliced thin and very dry. Pulled pork was so dry!!!. Unfortunately those are the good points. Our server pretty much ignored all outside tables. We actually had to go inside a half hour after we asked for our to go box to settle our check. The table next to us said "we are right behind you" as we were all discussing how terrible out service was. Our server was inside doing dishes when we bothered her to settle our checks. This place is awesome. Food is the best bbq I've had in a while. I ordered the brisket, ribs and poutine with coleslaw, beans, fries and potato salad. It was all great. The only thing we didn't like was their cornbread. Too dry but that was the one and only thing we didn't like besides the brisket not being trimmed better. But still the flavors are there. Where do I start with this delicious spot? Amazing flights? Tasty pulled pork? Delectable cocktails? Amazing service staff and killer waitresses? Killer on the table hot sauces? I'll never know how to pick my favorite part of this spot. All around a fantastic experience. While I was in Lynnwood I figured I'd stop into Moonshine for a quick lunch. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Indoors is rustic and small. Moonshine offers a small family dining area, small lounge area and an outdoor seating area. A lunch menu is available Monday-Friday from 11am-2pm. Happy Hour is offered daily from 3pm-6pm then again from 9pm-close. As I was reviewing the menu I slurped on a Blood Runs Cold IPA from 10 Barrel Brewing Co (OR) for $4. Moonshine has a nice selection of local beers on draft. I am not much of a carnivore so I opted for the 3 Item Combo (one meat and two sides) for $8: chicken slider (meat), coleslaw and baked beans. My slider had the perfect amount of pulled chicken breast on it. A few BBQ sauces are sitting on the table so that one can add their preferred choice/amount of BBQ to their meals. The coleslaw had a mild bite to it rather than being on the sweet side. Delish. I'm a bean fan and was quite pleased with the baked beans. The baked beans were served hot in temperature (yeah!). The baked beans were a blend of a few different beans. The sauce was tasty. My favorite part of my lunch. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. My husband and I LOVE Bbq! This place unfortunately was a giant miss The service was very good, this review has nothing to do with that. The server was the only one working FOH and she was as fast as she could be with a full bar and almost full restaurant. She was also bartending and her drinks were fantastic. The food. Omg. I ordered the moonshine BBQ salad and added chicken. I have never tasted chicken as dry as this, it was so dry I could barely even swallow it. The salad was drenched in dressing (maybe to make up for the chicken being literal sandpaper) My husband ordered pulled BBQ sandwich and chose brisket with a side of mac n cheese. Something in his sandwich was super sweet and off putting. He forced himself to eat at least half of it. The mac n cheese. OMFG it was atrocious! How do you mess up cheesy goodness so terribly! There was NO flavor whatsoever, and clearly no seasoning. It was the most bland weird tasting pile of noodles I have ever had. Needless to say we both took one bite and spit it out in our napkins. This was such a letdown! The menu looked like it wasn't your typical BBQ place and that's why we were so excited to try it! We definitely won't be back. Maybe JUST for a drink. Had lunch there today. The service was top notch. I was instantly seated and my food arrived very soon after I placed my order. The server (who was also tending bar) was super polite and very attentive. I ordered the half chicken plate with baked beans and cole slaw. The portions were decent - it was the perfect amount of food for a satisfying meal, but not the kind of place where you end up bringing leftovers home. The chicken was a little bit on the dry side and I found myself using their bbq sauces to compensate, but overall I left with a happy stomach. Went for lunch with my buddies during our boys trip to see the Kraken, Gonzaga and Seahawks games. Had the meatloaf with collared greens and baked beans. Everything was excellent. Mediocre. Vw been craving BBQ and decided to give Moonshine a try since it's close to home. Ordered takeout to share - 3 meat platter with ribs, brisket, dry rub wings, and sides of potato salad, coleslaw, Mac and Cheese, and brisket chili. The Sides: okay but under seasoned. Potato salad was the best of the bunch. Coleslaw was neither creamy or tangy but easy to spruce up with a little vinegar, cream and salt. I don't know what flavor they were going for with the Mac and Cheese but they nailed it if they were going for roux flavored. The brisket chili was like navy bean soup + brisket + some McCormick's chili packet. Not bad but not what I expected. Meh. The Meat: I worship at the church of Texas-style BBQ where it's all about the meat and sauce is not required. The seasoning on the ribs and wings was good but both were dry and tough - I've certainly had worse but there was nothing outstanding and sauce was definitely required. Brisket is the standard by which I judge all BBQ. This brisket was a nice crust enclosing a gelatinous blob of fat and sadness. The fat & crust to meat ratio was maybe 50\50 if I'm being generous. The meat tasted as though it had been boiled in the drippings of all the ill-fated briskets that had come before it. There was zero smoke flavor in the meat, or really any flavor at all. I was torn by being offended at the meagre quantity of edble meat and being relieved that we only got a small taste. TL;DR, this is not the Texas BBQ you've been craving; go elsewhere if you are seeking BBQ that's all about the meat. read more

I saw some news about Moonshine on the Internet and seems they are getting some media attention, so when I was down in Mountlake Terrace to get a prime rib (another place), I figured I'd stop and check out the brisket. You know the brisket is how you judge Texas BBQ, so it pretty much revolves around how they prepare one of these. I liked the street appearance and walking in it was very rustic with lots of dark wood and has kind of a honky tonk appeal. I can tell from the full bar that you can really do some serious drinking here; kind of like a whiskey bar setup with a few large LED televisions; so lets say it's a BBQ whiskey sports bar. Before my eyes could adjust as it's pretty dark I could hear a few of the staff welcome me in nice inviting tone. There's also a pretty large amount of beer selections and I think it could be at least a dozen or so on a black board to choose from. But, this was to check out the BBQ and it was lunch time and already pretty packed and the patrons are definitely not the hipster millennial types; my type of people as it could be right out of Texas. It's hard to come here and not want to drink a beer, so that was how I started and got me a Black Raven pale ale winter beer. They have a large choice of meats, so I had to choose 2 and picked the brisket and the hot link to see how it would go and we also got the ribs too. The sides were cole slaw, potato salad, beans and some collard greens. Everything was presented well and they had sweet, spicy and some caroline mustard sauces. All the meats appeared to be day old and was on the dry side, so not sure if they BBQ there or it comes in; definitely they don't have the volume to BBQing daily. I found the brisket to be well if not overly trimmed as there was no fat and each slice was a good thickness and was just the right tenderness; not tough nor falling apart. The only fault was the brisket had all the fat trimmed off and the meat was dry with no particular taste. The hot link was a bit spicy and you could see some green in it, so I assume it was a pepper and again was dry from overcooking or just from the day before. The potato salad and the collard greens were the best sides and nothing special about them one way or another. What really stands out at Moonshine is just how friendly and inviting the staff is and you feel really comfortable being here and drinking a beer. I found the staff to be on top of making you feel like family and they really make a difference in a positive way. I see some great things here and they just need to have a bit more freshness and moisture to add to the flavor of the BBQ meat. read more

Would round up to 3 1/2 if possible based on very good service. Went here last night for HH. Might have had too high of expectations. Was disappointed in HH menu offerings. Some items that were previously offered aren't any more. Chicken wings definitely should be on a HH menu. Fried pickle spears not 1/2 as good as pickle chips. I had the brisket sliders from HH menu. A little small & meat was quite fatty. Fries served with were ok but could have been crispier. Hubby had the rib plate with sides of greens & sweet potato waffle fries. Ribs are a dry rubbed rib not a saucy rib, but the table has 3 delicious sauces for you to customize your dining experience. Would go back again for lunch but not HH or dinner. read more

I was a bit disappointed. I ordered the 3/4 lb brisket to go. When I got home, I was expecting long strips of the brisket like they show on the pics. Except it had been pulled like it was for a sandwich and was mainly loaded with fat portions. The briskets have a good portions of fat, and I know that part of what makes it delicious but this was too much fat.
