On this visit I had the baked potato with bbq pork, sour cream, chives, and butter. A meal in itself for about $11. Another favorite of mine is the Smash Burger. I ordered what should have been a solid piece of BBQ beef, but what I got was extremely disappointing. The meat was noticeably overcooked--dry, tough, and lacking any real moisture or tenderness. Instead of a juicy interior, it had that gray, stringy texture that usually means it sat too long or was cooked well past its prime. To make matters worse, it was heavily covered in sauce, which felt more like an attempt to hide the dryness than enhance the flavor. Good BBQ shouldn't need to be drowned in sauce to be edible. The exterior had some char, but there was no balance--no rich, rendered fat, no melt-in-your-mouth texture, just dryness throughout. For something that should be a highlight item, this missed the mark completely. I was expecting flavorful, tender BBQ. We had to ask twice for water, I had pasta and it was so dry I asked for extra marinara sauce and it took almost 10 minutes for him to bring it to me and by that time my dinner was cold. Wow what happend to our local favorite place? We have not been here in a while due to work schedule and came in to a deserted diner. Should have taken the hint because this place was always packed. Food prices went up and the wait for food was over thirty minutes. Got the steak and eggs and the steak was super small with mostly fat. Asked for medium rare but steak was tough. Portions on hash browns was super small and food was cold, most likely from sitting to long in the back. So sad when this was our go to place for a delicious affordable meal that now is over priced and not worth the wait. read more

2 stars overall. Food - one start, actually zero. The BBQ was the worst I have ever had. It was actually scary to eat it. Scared I would get food poisoning and get sick. All kinds of red flags went up when the BBQ meats came out with BBQ sauce poured all over it. You can see from the photo I'll share the three meat platter. It looks like mystery meat. One of them is baby back ribs and another was cold brisket. The ribs were very thin and very tough. Dried out, probably from sitting around for several days. The Brisket was cold, and absolutely horrible. The quarter chicken was so dry and tough it was not edible. Their menu and photos show house made French fries from fresh cut potatoes. Nope. They were just regular ole frozen fries. Sprinkled with what they might think is magic dust. They weren't bad but they were definitely not fresh. I chose this place because I do love BBQ but I selected this BBQ joint for the fresh cut fries over other places. The employees were nice until I asked about the fries and then one actually insisted that those were the good fries. Another said they have never had fresh cut fries. I liked the atmosphere, but it was inside of a snaky little casino. Right now I am back at my hotel, hoping that I do not wake up in the middle of the night sick. Moonshiners is in the Terrible's Road House casino and has great barbecue! Stopped for late lunch after a hike and had the chopped brisket sandwich - with the sandwiches you get a choice of one side and it comes with extra BBQ sauce & a small cole slaw. The BBQ sauce is great and so is the bread it comes with...Texas Toast! Overall, the staff was attentive and the decor was cool...if you are in the Pahrump area...go down Pahrump Valley Blvd off the main road and stop here for some good BBQ. read more

This place definitely could have been better. However, we were seated right away and orders taken. That was good. Noticing brisket was on the menu, we both ordered the brisket plate. We smoke our own plus have tasted it all across the southern states. We love good brisket. Once our plates were delivered it was the last time we saw our server until we needed a box and then, we had to get another server to get it for us. We never got a refill even tho' both glasses were empty. We also had to walk up to the register to be given our bill as it was not delivered even tho' we had asked another server for it. Now the food. Potatoes, corn and mac'n cheese were very good but not so the brisket. It had a good smoke ring but it was tough. There was also a BBQ sauce drizzled across the brisket. Again, the waitress made a recommendation that was spot on; mayo based slaw instead of vinegar. Good call, although I will ask for a little extra mayo as it was just a little dry; but, still good. Loved it all! Service was good; lady who seated me is always delightful. My waitress was very nice and helpful. Again brought ranch dressing to dip my fries. Loved that combo from the first time. The inside seems small but there's a lot of seating. It has a bunch of decoration and things to look at. It's very nice inside. The servers were having a bad day it seemed like so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt this time around and let it slide. It happens. The food was great though! Waited almost an hour to be seated. After we were we waited another 15 minutes for drinks and then another 20 minutes for our order to be taken. Food was cold. not a very good experience. I know it was a holiday, but if they could not accommodate us then why seat us? At least, if the food had been up to par, it wouldn't have been such a bad experience. But I really would like to say most of the servers had an attitude, especially the one with a tattoo on her cheek (we did not check her name)... she did not even want to serve or help in one word. She gave us the rudest and the most negative energy we had ever got from any server that led to another server to help us instead with a better way ...... how disappointing .. We were visiting Pahrump, and many people recommended "Moonshiners" telling us how amazing they are and have the best food.. To be honest, the food was not good. I could not eat what I ordered, same as 2 of my friends. There were mistakes in the order, not only 1. Unfortunately, I do not have many words to mention... I was very upset that I did not even want to take a picture of my order.. all I wanted was to leave... First time back here in about three years. Basically the same menu except much much higher prices ! The menus on line here in reviews done reflect the current prices you can add at least 40% to all old prices. Staff is friendly and attentive place is clean over all aside from having to walk through a smoke filled casino to enjoy your food. Prices were a bit high for that the food is. Tastes ok, had brisket nothing to rave about fries were good other sides ok. Soda was decent small glasses though and over priced. A busy Casino and a busy restaurant in that Terrible's Casino. Their salad buffet has just opened. I love brisket and their brisket sandwich did not disappoint. That mesquity smoky sweet flavor permeated the meat and the bbq sauce only embellished, not overpowered that special flavor. Also, I adore that creamy, smooth and soft macncheese side. My fiancee and I were visiting Pahrump for the extremely lackluster fall festival that was going on, but since hadly any of the food vendors were open when we were there we figured we would try out one of the local restaurants instead. Moonshiners is located inside of Terrible's Roadhouse Casino (Yes, the gas station chain has a casino here). The restaurant itself is really big and even has a plane hanging upside down on the ceiling (which is awesome). We came here around noon and the staff was all super friendly and seated us right away. My first big take away from Moonshiners was how great the prices were, it almost felt like I sat down somewhere in 2008 instead of the jacked up prices of 2022. I was able to get a good portion of BBQ chicken served with both macaroni and cheese and french fries for only $13, a meal that would easily be about $20 somewhere in Las Vegas. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and had the taste of comfort, the french fries were crispy and flavourful, and the BBQ chicken was juicy, cooked right, and had a ton of solid BBQ sauce covering it. Although the food was pretty comparable to that of a diner or classic American restaurant, the whole vibe of the place made me feel like I was back in New England enjoying a lunch in like Maine or New Hampshire, although I'm not sure if I could even explain why. Overall, Moonshiners is a wonderful place to grab some lunch if you find yourself passing through Pahrump (and definitely if you live here, talk about great prices). I guess double brisket means 3 slices. Brisket was covered in bbq sauce not how brisket is eaten. BBQ sauce is used to cover bad tasting meat. Which brings me to the ribs also covered in BBQ sauce. I'd rather taste the meat seasoning not a condiment. Mac and cheese was over cooked it was mushy. Coleslaw was mediocre. I'll try them again but it will not be the bbq. We absolutely loved our visit to Moonshiners today. I had the brisket sandwich with homemade baked beans and my husband had the catfish sandwich with Mac and cheese. We both added on the salad bar for $3.25 and it was all very fresh and delicious. All in all we had a wonderful meal for under $40, which is hard to do these days. I wish we had room for dessert because those looked good too, but we were just too full. We will definitely be back soon! PS- they serve Coke which automatically adds stars for me! read more

Well there aren't a lot of places to eat at in Pahrump. This is one of the better ones and it's located inside Terrible's Road House. On a Sunday, we had to wait about 30 minutes to get a table for four. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with sausage, scrambled eggs, and extra crispy bacon. My husband ordered an omelette. He claimed the baked beans are delicious here and he had to order me a side dish of them. They are very spicy and have some BBQ brisket in them as well. I love baked beans, and these were great! My favorite was the biscuits and gravy. I loved the sausage pieces with it, kind of spicy. I was not a fan of the coffee. It just wasn't that good. I mostly drink cappuccino though, so maybe that's why I thought the flavor was off for me. The service at our table was excellent. Our waitress was all smiles and deeply apologetic because the kitchen was running far behind with lunch orders and was happy that we still wanted breakfast after 11:00 a.m. Go here. read more

Restaurant has turned itself back around. Still the best diner/cafe in Pahrump. Brought the original chicken fingers back. Don't care for dispensers in salad bar much. Minor issue. If you don't like a sweet topping on fries ( similar to wing stop) order without gold dust. Another issue is water tastes like chlorine and drinks come in these tiny mason jars making the waitresses too busy refilling. But staff is mostly friendly and burger not bad.
