My fiancee and I were visiting Pahrump for the extremely lackluster fall festival that was going on, but since hadly any of the food vendors were open when we were there we figured we would try out one of the local restaurants instead. Moonshiners is located inside of Terrible's Roadhouse Casino (Yes, the gas station chain has a casino here). The restaurant itself is really big and even has a plane hanging upside down on the ceiling (which is awesome). We came here around noon and the staff was all super friendly and seated us right away. My first big take away from Moonshiners was how great the prices were, it almost felt like I sat down somewhere in 2008 instead of the jacked up prices of 2022. I was able to get a good portion of BBQ chicken served with both macaroni and cheese and french fries for only $13, a meal that would easily be about $20 somewhere in Las Vegas. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and had the taste of comfort, the french fries were crispy and flavourful, and the BBQ chicken was juicy, cooked right, and had a ton of solid BBQ sauce covering it. Although the food was pretty comparable to that of a diner or classic American restaurant, the whole vibe of the place made me feel like I was back in New England enjoying a lunch in like Maine or New Hampshire, although I'm not sure if I could even explain why. Overall, Moonshiners is a wonderful place to grab some lunch if you find yourself passing through Pahrump (and definitely if you live here, talk about great prices). First timer to this establishment I ordered the 3 meat platter double brisket and ribs with Mac and Cheese and coleslaw. 35 mins after I placed my order I finally received it. I guess double brisket means 3 slices. Brisket was covered in bbq sauce not how brisket is eaten. BBQ sauce is used to cover bad tasting meat. Which brings me to the ribs also covered in BBQ sauce. I'd rather taste the meat seasoning not a condiment. Mac and cheese was over cooked it was mushy. Coleslaw was mediocre. I'll try them again but it will not be the bbq. We absolutely loved our visit to Moonshiners today. I had the brisket sandwich with homemade baked beans and my husband had the catfish sandwich with Mac and cheese. We both added on the salad bar for $3.25 and it was all very fresh and delicious. All in all we had a wonderful meal for under $40, which is hard to do these days. Theres cigarette smells everywhere (bad ventilation) and its old and dirty looking. Food: Sides were disappointing. Mac and Cheese were basically from Kraft, unless you want that fake powder cheese. Coleslaw and bake-beans quantity were tiny (ref image)...so basically not worth the money. Green beans and bacon were overcooked, sad, greasy and the bacon was low quality. BBq meat were edible, lack of smokiness, moisture and did not give enough sauce. Well there aren't a lot of places to eat at in Pahrump. This is one of the better ones and it's located inside Terrible's Road House. On a Sunday, we had to wait about 30 minutes to get a table for four. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with sausage, scrambled eggs, and extra crispy bacon. My husband ordered an omelette. He claimed the baked beans are delicious here and he had to order me a side dish of them. They are very spicy and have some BBQ brisket in them as well. I love baked beans, and these were great! My favorite was the biscuits and gravy. I loved the sausage pieces with it, kind of spicy. I was not a fan of the coffee. It just wasn't that good. I mostly drink cappuccino though, so maybe that's why I thought the flavor was off for me. The service at our table was excellent. Our waitress was all smiles and deeply apologetic because the kitchen was running far behind with lunch orders and was happy that we still wanted breakfast after 11:00 a.m. Go here. read more

I was out in Pahrump to catch the meteor shower. Since there aren't a ton of options in this town we ended up coming here with a BBQ craving. The food is good (not Texas good) but the value is high. Decent tasting food and a lot of it for a fairly low price. I got the 3 item BBQ plate with brisket, pulled pork, and st louis ribs. It came with 2 sides. The meats were moist and tender and had a decent smoke flavor. The sides were average, not great, but not terrible either. We also ordered a few appetizers. The smoked wings had a really good smoke flavor and the baked potato was at least 50% meat and cheese. Will keep this on my list of I ever am goi g through Pahrump again! read more

Restaurant has turned itself back around. Still the best diner/cafe in Pahrump. Brought the original chicken fingers back. Don't care for dispensers in salad bar much. Minor issue. If you don't like a sweet topping on fries ( similar to wing stop) order without gold dust. Another issue is water tastes like chlorine and drinks come in these tiny mason jars making the waitresses too busy refilling. But staff is mostly friendly and burger not bad. The food is delicious, but you need to pass a super stinky cassino that will get maybe even your soul smelling as cigars. Pass that, the service is a mess, there are few good servers, and some that will make a mess, get the wrong request, never come back to check the table, and usually they seems very upset with everything around. The food was OK, but the huge drawback with this place is that even though the restaurant is non-smoking, the smoke from the adjoining casino drifts in and permeates EVERYTHING!! Started going to this place about a month ago once a week. Our daughter and grandsons came out for the wife's Birthday and we went for Breakfast. Took forever to get waited on once we sat down at a table. A waitress finally showed up and said the drink person would be by in a couple of minutes. The waitress thought the drink person already came. After 10 minutes I went to the front and told the people about the problem. One of them finally turned up for our drink orders. Food finally arrived 25+ minutes later. Which also seemed a bit long to deliver our food. One of my grandson's ordered milk to drink. As we were leaving he finally drank the rest of the glass and we found a plastic cover for another container at the bottom of his glass. Here we go! Food was really pretty good. We had the Brisket sandwich, bbq beef salad, and fried Mac and cheese bites. All in all really good food. The service was top notch. Our server was young, but did a great job, and joined in with my stupid humor, to make our experience a lot of fun. Now the bad. Wanted a small drive on a Saturday to leave the hustle of the city, so we decided to drive to Pahrump. About an hour, decent road, about eight miles of construction still in progress, but flow was not hindered. The pass through the mountains had a lot of snow still showing on the ground. Temperature was 50's, and skies where sunny! Once in town, my husband loves the tractor stores, so we headed there first. In the side parking lot, the farmers market and we thought we'd pop in after the tractor store but we took to long and they where closing when we finished inside the store, saw the sign then that said 'farmers market till 12 noon!' After the tractor store, our next stop was to find Terrible's roadhouse and Moonshiners for lunch! The app got us there, but in a funky round about drive, it took us through the neighborhood when it seemed to be almost across the street. Our lunch from Moonshiners included a chicken fried steak plate and a catfish plate. I'm a sucker for chicken fried steak. It was very generous proportions, the steak was smothered in milk gravy which was thick, milky and very tasty. The meat easy to cut with a fork, was very moist and tender. The breading was thick and covered the entire piece of meat but it was missing a bit of the crispness that I expect with this dish. No one likes a soggy breading! My husband had the catfish and again, there where four generous pieces of breaded catfish, the fish tasted fresh and his had some crispiness to it. Saw an ad that this was a great place for BBQ, so we came to try it out. Walking into the casino, you can smell the BBQ! We were greeted with smiles and the friendly staff. We got the moonshiners tots and the BBQ sampler with mac and cheese and green beans. The moonshiners tots were tater tots breaded with cheese then fried. Came with beer cheese sauce and ranch. Amazingly good. Then the BBQ sampler came out, we ordered ribs, chicken and brisket. All were fall of the bone good! And no wonder as they BBQ the right way, 16 hours of smoking goodness!! They also have a variety of sauces for you to try. If you are not in the mood for BBQ, there are also a variety of other things on their menu. And the prices are great. This place is hit or miss. We used to love the smash burger & fries, but both seem to have changed the last few times we've tried them. Chicken tenders are huge & great. Breakfast is good. Based on the Yelp reviews, I tried this place out. First, the service was extremely slow and they were only moderately busy. Second, the waitresses got our order wrong even after multiple reminders. Third, the food wasn't that good. The Turkey wasn't smoked, just some gravy thrown on it. The brisket was 90% fat and grizzle, and the ribs were tough and appeared to be reheated. The ribs weren't cooked properly. It was tough to find the meat. I know your options are limited in Pahrump, but there is better. read more

This restaurant is located inside the Terrible's Roadhouse Casino. We eat here more than we care to admit! There aren't too many healthy options at this particular restaurants; It's just good though. They have a decent salad bar, and the food is fattening, comforting, and good. The service at moonshiners is excellent as well. We thoroughly enjoy coming to this restaurant, and always will recommend it. My favorite menu item would have to be the beef sausage hot link sandwich. You have to get it with the vinegar coleslaw on the sandwich. My partner on the hand loves the chicken fried steak. It's huge and he always has enough leftover to take home! read more

Went and grabbed a bite to eat with my mom last night, and I can say they are friendly and welcoming. The food was good, big portion sizes and they did everything with a smile. One thing I would ask, is that they tell you how big the side of fries and mac and cheese are. Those sides could feed two people! They did run out of catfish and onion rings, but that was okay. This place isn't going to win any awards for their bbq. I went with a group and the consensus was that the food was just ok. The value is there for sure though. The ribs were the highlight of my bbq plate and I really liked the bbq sauce. The pasta was kind of cold but tasted really good. So this place definitely has room for improvement but I don't know where else you can get a 3 item bbq meat plate, in a casino setting ,for less than $20. read more
