The restaurant is located right across the street from the train station. There is plenty of parking. We arrived at 7:00 p.m. on a Friday night and we were able to find a decent parking space and no wait for a table. Our waitress was very kind, I can't eat tomatoes and she helped me go through the menu to find something that I could have. My husband and I both ordered the jumbo wings appetizer for dinner. My husband picked the buffalo sauce for his dipping sauce and I picked the white Alabama sauce. We split a side of coleslaw and a jalapeno cornbread. The food was so delicious! So The restaurant is very relaxing, the lights are dim and they have soft accent lights. They have three televisions and small bar area. They have both high tables and low tables. It is 23 degrees outside but nice and warm inside. I posted video with the view from our table.

Moontime Smokin Que is a hidden gem of a place in my opinion. It's located right next to the Crystal Lake train station on the side street. Service is fast and friendly! We tried a couple items which were all very good. For starters smoked chicken wings were very flavorful! Even for health conscious people, they are smoked not fried. We also had a bowl of thier chicken chowder whereby the chicken pieces were smoked and gave a unique flavor to the soup. The corn muffins were good but could be better. The beef brisket we ordered by the pound was full of flavor. They smoke all the meats on site and boy are they good. We like that they asked which cut of meat we would like; lean, fatty or mixed. I think it's good to try both your first time. We tried both and both were very satisfying. The coleslaw was very good too. It was fresh and a nice change up being a mixed flavor of sweet & tangy. They offer several inhouse made sauces including a new one that is spicy sriracha. It complimented everything really nicely. We would have loved to have tried desert but we didn't have room and took some of the leftovers home. If you're looking for really good traditional smoked bbq and can't get to Texas then this IS the place!!

The food was really good, was surprised that the appetizers weren't teeny tiny. We got 2 anticipating them to be too small for 4 of us. Flatbread and fried pickles. Even had a few left over. Sandwiches are amazingly good. The only negatives I would say is the percent fee that is chard for using a card (which I know is very common now). More so I did not like how loud it was in there. Again, a lot of places have the high open ceilings and brick which makes it that way. But would definitely recommend eating here!

Grilled cheese brisket sandwich with jalapeño corn bread!

How good is Moontime Smokin' Que? Well, let's see how my visit went when trying to find a good bbq joint. Ambiance Walking in, the place is slightly dark, but not enough to warrant using a phone or other light source to read the menu. They have a "game area" but it is walled off, which helps people not have to deal with flashing lights or loud slot machine sounds. The music was at a decent volume and they had a wall bar. It was a cozy place where the tables we spaced out pretty well. Service Our waitress was nice and gave us recommendations. She was pretty attentive with our drinks and when she was busy waiting on another table, the other waitress came over to helps us. Food Grilled cheese brisket sandwich I ordered this sandwich which is one of our recommended items to try. This was a very well made sandwich. The bread had a nice crisp to it and was not burnt. The brisket in it was juicy. I can definitely understand why this was recommended. It came with a blueberry (I might be mistaken) bbq sauce on the side. The sauce was okay but the sweetness kind gave me flavor fatigue... I think it might have paired better with a vinegar based bbq sauce... but that might be my own opinion... Jalapeño corn bread These little mini muffin-sized con breads were fantastic. I really enjoyed the sweetness and the little kick the jalapeños gave to them. French fries The French fries were well cooked. I don't honk they were double fried since they were pretty crispy throughout the meal. They were seasoned well. Ribs We ordered a half slab of ribs. They were firm and properly cooked. I would say they were juicy, but definitely not dry. The firmness of the ribs was fine for me. I know there are people who prefer ribs to fall off the bone sometimes but the ribs were good. They came with 2 cornbreads and a side of pickles and pickled onions. Those helped with the sweetness of the bbq sauce. Brisket sandwich I had a taste of the brisket sandwich. It was juicy and properly seasoned. I dipped the piece I tried with the blueberry bbq sauce. It was a really well done brisket. Overall Did I have a good experience? Yes, the service and food were good Would I recommend Moontime or go back? Yes to both. The bbq is really good and I would definitely would go back and try the other items. I would probably see if the other sauce would not tire me out liked the blueberry bbq sauce. It was pretty sweet and I did get tired of the sweetness. Overall, it was a good experience and I would recommend trying out the bbq.

He had been a customer all his life before moving to California, and my brother-in-law grew up on this place. We ordered the mixed meat plate, half rack of baby back ribs and the pulled pork sandwich, all with curly fries. My favorite meats were the fall-off-the-bone ribs and the brisket! Everything was lean and smoky. The plates came with a fresh bun, beans and coleslaw. They were not "wow" but delicious nonetheless. I liked the sauce so much that I bought some to bring home. The restaurant itself is super tiny and homey. Since we have our dogs, I got the order to-go while he waited at his family's place. Everything was packed nice and tight, resulting in zero leakage! Overall, I am not sure we will be back as we are only in town a couple days, but I definitely will keep it in rotation for future visits. Pros: - fair pricing - excellent quality meats (no smoke rings though) - beautiful date-night location (near a river!!) - decent amount of parking for a downtown area - cozy ambience - super friendly (a running theme in the Midwest) - unique, local craft sodas - sauce on the side for mix plate Cons: - ribs slightly over-sauced - stairs and ramp a tad steep to entrances - not in Oceanside :)

There is a small hill but you can push a wheelchair or walk with a walker or cane without issues. There is a daily lunch menu that ends at 3pm. I ordered mine without BBQ sauce and added some yellow mustard (tomatoes really cause my arthritis pain to increase) I was very happy to see that the sauce is added afterwards. You get to pick a potato from a list of options... I picked a baked potato with sour cream and butter and my husband picked the curly fries. You also get to pick baked beans or coleslaw, we both selected Cole slaw. It was a vinger based coleslaw which we love! We ordered a corn muffin and it was huge and moist (not dry at all). The restaurant is very clean and you feel like your in a cabin. The temperature outside is 90+ and it was very comfortable here .. in the low 70's for sure. This is a nice casual place to have lunch or to celebrate a special occasion with family and friends. Lots of great food options they even have soup and salads on the menu. I highly recommend dining here when you are in the area. Plenty of parking and tables inside and outside for dining in. We will definitely be back!

The drinks ive gotten there have been phenomenal so far, and the mocktails dont make you feel like youre missing out on any fun. In addition to the Food, the service is positively delightful. Our server last time i went was also the bartender, and the other staff were kind enough to step in and help him with our orders, and he himself was more than helpful enough. The interior of the resturaunt was beautiful with wonderful lighting and a very cohesive layout, but i do have two complaints: the tables are very small and the booths are very low. When you order at a tapas resturaunt, you dont really get just one or two plates at a time, and when a solid quarter of the table is being occupied by the standup menus, the water glass, and the decorative flowers, it gets crowded very quickly. Overall a 9/10. Definitely a wonderful place to go with friends, family, or even on your own!

We had a coupon for a free appetizer (we ordered the potato skins) that was about to expire so we decided to give this location a try. We have been to the one in Bloomingdale, but haven't been here. While we were in the car we used the waitlist option and the app said that there was a 20 minute wait. Once we got inside there was actually only a 5 minute wait. The restaurant is huge and literally every table was full but because the restaurant is so huge there is always a party on the way out so the flow of traffic was nice and steady. I ordered the herb chicken breast, the waitress asked if I wanted it smothered in mushrooms and grilled onions and of course I said yes. She did not mention that it was an up-charge... I should have asked however the amount added to my plate was well worth the $2.99 up-charge. I picked the house salad and veggies because I knew my carbs were going to be coming from the two delicious rolls and butter I was planning on eating while waiting for my order to be cooked. My husband ordered a 9oz steak with a house salad and corn and wanted it cooked medium rare... it came out really rare. It was delicious but way too chewy and hard to eat. He was disappointed but did not want to send it back because he was hungry and ready to dig in. The atmosphere is fun, there were at least three tables nearby that were celebrating birthdays. They sing a song and it is really uplifting and fun to hear! If you're looking for a restaurant with great food to celebrate a birthday or other important day... or even if you're not celebrating anything special, come out and give this restaurant a try! I cannot believe it took us so long to give this place a try! I was avoiding it because I thought the prices were going to be very high, and it is actually affordable and within what I consider a good value!

We got there around 12:30, ordered our food by phone (because there is no wait staff other than a bar tender), pay for the food via phone, and waited a hour only to be told that there was no food left. Customers that came in after us had ordered and ate but not us. Finally my son went up to the kitchen window to ask why we didn't get our food. The kitchen staff told my son "We ran out of food". One would figure that there would have been some type of announcement made instead of leaving us and some other customers hanging but, nobody said a peep. This was the worst experience we've ever had at any restaurant! How can this place even operate without a wait staff and run out of food soon after it opened for the day. It simply was not busy enough to run out of food. Seems to me that the underlying problem is the owner and management. One thing I do know is that I will never go to this restaurant again nor their other restaurant Bold American Fare.
