The Magic Cow in Coral Springs has a 4.8-star Yelp rating, and their sister store in Davie is apparently one of the top 10 ice cream shops in the entire United States. So naturally, I had to see if the local legend lived up to the hype. (Spoiler: it did. And then some.) The moment we walked in, I was hit with that nostalgic mix of sugar, laughter, and magic that says you're about to make a very good life decision. The owner greeted us like old friends -- warm, funny, and clearly passionate about what he does. You can tell every scoop that leaves that counter has been crafted with pride. Now, about the ice cream. I went with the Carrot Cake flavor -- and let me tell you, it wasn't just ice cream; it was an experience. Folded into it were ribbons of caramel and bits of pie crust that somehow made me rethink all my previous dessert choices in life. One bite in, and I'm pretty sure I saw colors brighter than usual. My wife went for a combo of Better Batter Cake Carnival and Chocolate Batter Better, and to call it "excellent" would be an understatement. This flavor pairing was pure joy in stereo. I'm pretty sure she stopped listening to me talk for a good five minutes, which is the ultimate compliment to any dessert. Bottom line: The Magic Cow isn't just living up to its reputation -- it's churning out happiness, one scoop at a time. If you haven't been, fix that immediately. Your taste buds will thank you, your diet will forgive you (eventually), and your inner child will do a happy dance.

Light on the tummy & tastes entirely homemade and high quality. The owners are retiring and have an advertisement on the window selling this long running small ice cream shop. I hope whomever does acquire it, keeps the quality of the ice cream up to its current standard as well as preserves the quirky and quaint aesthetics inside. I implore you to experience it for yourself before they sell it, if in the area.

Today I took my kids into her store and we were warmly welcomed once again. She has over 75 flavors with a large selection of Italian ices as well. She has the cleanest ice cream shop I've ever been in and I love the seating style. You will not be disappointed if you stop in! We will be making frequent stops especially during the hot summer days to come!

Dino Russo took over in 2009 when his brother, the company founder, retired. At that time all of the Uncle Louie G locations were in New York or New Jersey. In seven years, he was able to grow Uncle Louie G from eight locations to more than 50 through franchising. This franchise of Uncle Louie G's opened in April on Sample Rd in the same plaza as Runyon's. It is owned by Andrea Mormile and her sister, Denise from Brooklyn, New York. The sisters were inspired to open Uncle Louie G's when they couldn't find the kind of icy treats they grew up on. Uncle Louie G''s menu includes 47 flavors of Italian ice and 33 flavors of ice cream including vegan, dairy free, and sugar free. They also sell ice cream cakes, milkshakes, smoothies, ice coffees, Belgian waffle sundaes, and ice cream nachos. For quality control everything's made in Staten Island, New York. They use the best ingredients like real fruit for Italian ice instead of sugar and artificial flavoring. The premium ice cream is 14 percent butterfat and the cheesecake pieces are made from scratch. I had the pleasure of meeting Denise when I stopped in on a steamy Sunday afternoon. The Italian ice is displayed in the cases closer to the door while the ice cream is further down. Ice cream flavors included Louie Big Blue, Brooklyn Cheesecake, and Apple Pie while Italian ice flavors included Oreo cookie dough, chocolate jelly ring, cherry chip, and Italian Dream. I was in the mood for ice and I sampled the cannoli, honey doo, and spumoni. I ended up choosing the spumoni but they were all great. I was impressed with how spot on the flavors tasted. I am still thinking about the honey doo. Sizes come in Brooklyn small ($3.50), small ($4.00), medium ($6.00), and large ($8.00). You can also purchase pints, quarts, and party buckets. I love that they have unique flavors that not everyone else has. This is a welcome addition to Coral Springs as the scorching summer rolls in. Check them out and welcome them to the neighborhood.

It's packed with old memorabilia and collectibles, which I'm sure a lot of people enjoy, but for me it made the place feel smaller than it really is. The ice cream was very good, although I wouldn't say they had an overwhelming number of flavors. Still, there was enough variety to find something you'd like. Then again, who doesn't like good ice cream? Even though the place was busy, we had no problem finding a seat. The service was excellent, and the staff was friendly. When you serve a good product, a crowd comes with it. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't call it a home run. I'm not sure if it's somewhere I'd go back to on a regular basis, but I'm glad I tried it. I had thought about taking a younger person there for a birthday, but I think they'd probably have more fun at Jaxson's in Dania Beach. The atmosphere there is more my style. Overall, good ice cream, excellent service, just a little too crowded and cluttered for my taste.

You have the option to order at the window outside, or, go into the shop to order. The moment you walk in, it very very overwhelming. Tons of trinkets, posters, colors, signs and memorabilia's and figurines everywhere! The more you look, the more you'll see. Staff seemed like they were there just for their paychecks, and not really caring for the customer service or offering their opinion or recommendations, the night we visited there was a good amount of patrons. There's seating off the right side of the shop and a few towards the back. They have a very wide selection of ice cream flavors. I settled for a dulce deleche, and it was just ok. We ordered that, and I took some pictures and left. The interior was too much for me, personally. Way too much going on.

I'm not sure why they moved it, but probably due to new construction and the new restaurant openings. Anyway, it's held the 3rd Friday of the month. And runs from 5 pm to 9 pm. There is ample street parking as well as a couple parking lots nearby. It was not very busy when we came -- around 7 pm. Perhaps because there wasn't much advertising for it. I'd looked for it -- to confirm it was happening and couldn't find it -- online or in the local paper. How did we find it? From my favorite food truck (Captain Lobster) that I follow online. They noted that they would be here tonight and we took a chance. There were two rows of trucks near Atlantic boulevard. And past the music area another two rows of more food trucks further north. In addition to lobster, you can find trucks offering gyros, tacos, soul food, bbq, hot dogs and deli, stuffed burgers, shaved ice and ice cream. You will easily find something among all the offerings that you will like and want to order for dinner, a snack, or a dessert. There's one small booth also selling cocktails over by the music (manned by a DJ). There's a music area and a few people were dancing. Kids were wandering around with hula hoops. So it's a family affair, too. So stop by for nosh or for dinner or even just dessert. Wander around, listen to the music, and relax.

This was the first time Pompano was holding the event in Old Town. Food truck round up is the third Friday of the month. So now you have two Fridays to come and enjoy the fun in Pompano every month. Before you decide to eat take a walk around to see all of your food truck options, they span two full streets! Barbecue, Caribbean, Greek, American grill, if you crave it they have it. As for myself and my friends we always end up back at Captain Lobster where you can get a buttered roll chock full of sweet lobster for $15. They should pay me to advertise because every time I eat in front of their truck I steer people over to them. Moop We Love Pops just happened to be parked across from them so I couldn't miss that. They serve Gelato in a cup or on a pop. They will dip it in chocolate for you and a topping. Roy had the passion fruit pop dipped in chocolate, my daughter had the cookie and cream pop dipped in chocolate, and I had the dulce de leche caramel in a cup with chocolate and chocolate sprinkles. It was delicious. Hanging out with friends and family on a Saturday night at a fun event while enjoying delicious food and listening to DJ Mike Locke spin the tunes, it doesn't get better than that.
