Received a coupon in the mail and since I have not been here for awhile I went through the drive up and picked up 2 BBQ sandwiches. Staff was friendly and helpful. I asked for onions and slaw and that's what a I got. The sandwich was very good. There was enough BBQ on the sandwich that I was able to take some off and make another sandwich for the next day. The general manager was so rude. The employee had messed up our food, which was disgusting, and when I asked to speak to the manager she had an attitude claiming I ordered my food wrong. We had ordered the bbq plate and fried chicken. The bbq was so gross, it tasted like it was days old. The chicken was hard as a rock. The only good thing was the green beans. I made the order on the phone 30 minutes before they closed. The person who took my order was nice and patient with me. I didn't really know what I was ordering but decided to go with the large pulled pork meal with Mac n cheese & greens, and a fried chicken meal w/Mac n cheese & mashed potatoes. The pulled pork wasn't good, the chicken, Mac 'n cheese, greens and mashed potatoes were ok. I was also not a fan of the hush puppies. Had a catered meal at work, was scrumptious. Came to try this place in real time and it was delicious vinegar based Eastern NC BBQ. Everything was fast, hot, fresh. The owner/manager, Matt came by to greet us and talk for a spell! Their sweet tea is "NC sweet", too. I mix it half and half so I get the slightly sweet flavor I love. We just moved to town recently, and this is quite possibly our favorite for take out or a quick dine in with flavor that is southern cuisine fine. Friendly staff is an understatement; I sincerely hope they keep their employees this friendly well past the "new restaurant" phase wears off. Restaurant overall screams of a Smithfield's knockoff right down to the BBQ sandwich special. Fries are my favorite kind and the sweet tea was delicious! The BBQ on my sandwich was cooked well, but didn't have a terrible amount of flavor. Coleslaw was great though. I have one weird compliant; the booths have this weird separation from the bottom cushion part to the top cushion that when you initially sit down you think you've sat down on something lol! It sure who designed the booths, but it's weird haha! Overall, glad to have stopped by and will go back to try the fried chicken at a later time. read more

Changed chicken tenders effective 3/31/23 and the generous, juicy tenders replaced with tiny, heavily-breaded, dry tenders. The volume weight of the new tenders greatly reduced too yet the price stayed the same. Ironically, I'd recommend Moores to bring back the original chicken tenders and raise the price as needed. read more

I've heard of Moore's BBQ for a while since living in NC. This location is newer, yet it has a very similar feel to another NC BBQ chain, the same type of old pictures on the wall, and sink after the turn to the bathrooms before you get to order. Wash your hands! Ribs were available which is not available at the other chain. At least I don't think so. My dining partners appeared to enjoy them thoroughly. They were pouring the remaining source over the leftovers. The sauce is available for purchase. They serve those very red hot dogs for the kid's meal. If you are a fan, go for it. My child would not eat the macaroni and cheese she wanted - describing it as too salty and mushy after one bite. Instead, she settled on into eating hush puppies and banana pudding while her never-changing orangey entree congealed before her. The staff is very polite and engaging. They come around with more tea or lemonade and fun conversation. I had the flounder and shrimp: Shrimp for the table, which was enjoyed by most. The flounder was good. I wish someone would have ordered chicken. It looked tasty and crunchy too. The green beans and baked beans come with BBQ, so if you don't eat pork, beware. read more

We found this place as we were driving around our new neighborhood and it is fantastic!! I got the 4 piece chicken box with fries and a side of mash potatoes and everything is delicious! The chicken is tender and perfectly crunchy. The fries are just like McDonald's fries, minus the weird artificial taste so in my book they are the best fries out there right now. Moore's BBQ in New Bern, NC used to be a wonderful place to eat at. The food is good but the rudeness of the staff leaves me unsatisfied and needing to post a review. I came two days in a row, since I have been craving BBQ. Yesterday, the two young ladies taking orders were fantastic and one of the young cooks even came up to assist me with a question, which I appreciated, so I decided to go back today and order the same thing. When I arrived inside, the young girl who takes the drive-thru orders was at the cash register, but she did not say a word to me, no smile, no 'welcome to Moore's', nothing but simply walked away when I tried to speak to her to be polite, and she did not have a customer in the drive-thru lane. Then, the same young lady who took my order yesterday took my order again today but had been cleaning off tables, which I did not mind at all, since my experience from yesterday was so good (yesterday was this young lady's first day and today was her 2nd day on the job)! Today's experience was much different than yesterday though. She was taking orders all by herself while another lady working in the very back was being rude, disrespectful to her, yelled at her while I was giving my order. The young manager did not do anything to stop the rude woman in the back but did ask me what was wrong and when I explained the rudeness of some of his employees there today, I knew immediately that he would not say a word to either woman being a bully on the job! I even questioned if it was the color of my skin to make them behave like that but truthfully, when rude people are allowed to act that way, they feel entitled when no one says anything! Both the drive-thru young girl and woman in the back should be fired immediately. There are too many people searching for jobs than to keep rude people working who will end up ruining a business and the employees' morale while working. I cannot believe I witnessed such lack of respect for another employee (a new-hire) or for a customer while at Moore's BBQ and will never return to this establishment ever again. -I'm spreading the word far and wide that the rudeness made by an employee will not only harm a business but will crush a business when this kind of behavior is not handled immediately. The morale from yesterday to today was like night and day and if not dealt with properly, will feaster and ruin Moore's Olde Tyme BBQ! Just say, "NO" to bullying and rude people who have no business working with others when there are plenty of kind-hearted people who need employment and are more than happy to show their respect to others, including their own employees/coworkers and customers!
