Maybe it was just an off night, but my experience there was pretty bad. I sat out on the upstairs deck (which is cool) and listened to someone tirelessly blabbing on loudly about his recent tendency to slug people that he disagreed with (which sucked). The waitress had an overly bad *who-gives-a-shit* attitude and I had to bark at her to get her attention two separate times as she was leaving the table next to me without even a glance to see if I was still there. When the waitress finally completely abandoned me upstairs with my empty beer glasses, I decided to bail. While cashing out at the really loud bar blasting choice cuts off the Nirvana "Nevermind" album, a guy popped up next to me, got all in my face, and started bellowing at a television. He smelled bad. I was beginning to wonder if I was invisible. I handed the bartender a Franklin (thats all I had at the time) and he was completely befuddled. "Uhhh....hmmm, well .... uhhh ...." he wandered away ... he returned ... "Uhhh....um...uhhh" I said "look, let me see if I have anything else". I found a five and a one buried in my pocket and he said "Cool, dude! Thats good enough!" ... Whatever. I probably won't go back, but who knows, I might just to see if it's really that lame. The one star is for the interesting beer selection they had on tap. For those that want to drink good beer outside, listen to violence, and be ignored by bar staff, this is your place! read more

Whether as a regular haunt or a place to get away you'll find this a fun satisfying spot to hang out. I love the people that work here, the atmosphere. The owners are nice and love the community. The food is really really good. You won't find better wings in Charlotte. No need to try. The Bee-sting and blackened are the best with just enough heat for those that like here but people who like more mild won't turn their noses up at them. But the PB&J wings are unique too. my last night in Charlotte some coworkers and I decided to go to moose head for drinks. The night was going fine, loved the environment and we were having a good time.....until it was time for me to close out my tab. Now I work in the service industry so I understand and try to be patient with the bartenders/servers everywhere I go. I wish I could say the same for this guy "jason" behind the bar. It took this guy about 10 minutes to get me a pbr everytime I ordered (they were not very busy as it was after 12), and when I deceive to close out my tab at the end of the night, I was told that my debit card was Givin to the wrong guest and they had already left. Now I understand things can go wrong but the attitude I was Givin by this "jason" ensured I will never be back. I was not drunk (I had 2 beers because I had to drive) and I was treated with a "not my problem" attitude. When asking about my card I was told to calm down as if I where beligerent and out of control. When I asked what the guy could do for me he replied "I'll take care of your 9 dollar tab", and beyond that he told me there was nothing else that could be done. This was my first time and last time at Moosehead, and I'm sure it's a decent place when hipsters with a no care attitude aren't behind the bar. read more

Moosehead is a neighborhood bar with great food, reasonable prices and solid regulars.

I Love this place! I can't believe it took me this long to find it. The food is amazing.(g-Man) The bar staff was cool and fast. And the owner was the funniest man I have ever met. His name was Chris and he held court with at least 10 girls around him as he hula- hooped in the parking lot while juggling, while telling jokes. It was a carnival atmosphere with excellent food, and drink. I will be going back soon. read more

I've been traveling to Charlotte for business since 2007 and since then I've been going to the Moosehead. I book my hotels near there. They have an interesting selection of draft beer and the wings are sensational! My personal favorite are the Uncle Donny's Blackened Wings but the Bee Stings and the Jerk Wings are quite delicious as well. They also come up with some amazing dinner specials as well. They kitchen staff has even gone "off the menu" for me and my party on more than one occasion. Solid jukebox as well. My hands down favorite establishment in Charlotte. read more

My husband and I started coming here since the Roasting Co. changed FOH management. We are big advocates of the daily specials, haven't had a bad one yet. As for drinks and the bar we like to steer clear, my drinks are always way too strong and the margaritas have a funky taste to them (probably the sour mix). I came for the blackened wings and am sure to return for them. I easily could have eaten two more orders of these things but my diet limits me to only 30. This is my spot. I've been eating here for over 12 years now. I spent my 21st and 30th birthday here. Old school Charlotte folks with no pretentious BS. Best wings on earth and an amazing specials menu every day of the week. If you want a place to kiss your ass because you're going to spend $30-$50, then DO NOT COME HERE! This is a locals joint and they plan on keeping it that way. The kitchen is small and the blackened wings take a good 20 minutes minimum to come out so don't be a cry-baby like all of the other fake "foodies" out there. Wanted to try this place after reading all the great reviews and get some wings to go. My daughter has a peanut and treenut allergy so I called ahead to see what type of oil they fry their food in to be on the safe side. When I called was told I really don't have time to check we're slammed! I think we use vegtable oil but not sure. That's bad service since there are so many children in Charlotte with food allergies. First of all they got my order wrong, service took way to long and never got a refill. When I told them about my order being wrong that I was missing wings they suspected I was lying and kept looking over at my table. Came here on my way through Charlotte for late lunch. Wish I wouldn't have. Chili burger = awful and undercooked. Asked waitress to send it back and got nothing but a bad attitude and eye-rolling. If you don't want to serve the food the way I asked for it to be cooked, then expect me to say something. Instead of a new burger cooked medium, I got the same burger with my bite out of it, cooked well done. Shameful. Didn't eat the food, and waitress got zero tip. The bartender was extremely rude and pretty much a demanded a tip even though all I ordered was food. Can't begin to explain how cool this place is. Most of the staff has been here since the place opened. Once you have been in a few times, everybody knows your name. I have been a big fan for 15 years. I don't cook so, I don't play when it comes to food. I have never had a meal here that wasn't exceptional. Steak and potato burrito is a must have. hands down the best bar food in charlotte. the best wings I have ever had, great quality meat in their burgers, and everything else on the menu is incredible. the specials will blow you away, they are very inventive and you will not find a better bargin on quality and presentation. lee f. said it best, "people who don't get it don't belong" Eric K's review is garbage, especially about the cost of drinks. they have more than resonable beer prices and if you can get a better pour in charlotte, let me know. the staff are all great and have been around for a while, and hopefully many more years to come. if you don't like great music (especially out of georgia) then this place may not be for you either. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone, ever, at any time. I realize that this place is a sports bar, not large in size. However, I called 4 days in advance to ask if this place could accommodate a party for 20 and I was told it would be no problem and that we would be accommodated on their upper patio. I called the day of to confirm the party and I was told they'd be ready for us. When I arrived, NO ONE working had any idea what I was talking about when I asked about the party and everyone looked at me like I was stupid for asking. As my party started to arrive, we began to get frustrated because NO ONE came up to ask for drink or food orders for 45 minutes. We had to go down to the bar 4 times to get anyone to come up, bring chairs/drinks/ash trays. It would be 15, 20, even 30 minutes before we'd see a server come up again to check on us. Both of the male servers were absolute jerks, they were rude to everyone making smart and sarcastic remarks. To top it off, one of my friends had to take everyone's food orders, go downstairs to the bar, and force the server to put our food orders in the computer. This was my birthday evening and we were made to feel as though we were a pain and annoyance to everyone working there. We were treated disrespectfully the entire time. This place had plenty of time to hire additional help to take care of the party. All the servers kept giving us excuses and blaming their poor service on the fact that it was really busy or short handed. As I mentioned above, I realize NOW that this is a sports/dive bar but this was my first time at Moosehead Grill and the service was TERRIBLE. We still had a great time but I can't believe a place of business would hire and maintain servers that are rude and disrespectful to their customers. We were there for 3 hours and 2 of those hours we were waiting for our food.I don't care what kind of "venue" it is ~ whether it's a bar, restaurant, or 5 star dining, this was completely unacceptable. read more
