Today was the second time I've been here and I absolutely love it. I built my own burger each time and I am pleasantly surprised how quickly and fresh the burger tasted each time. They have a variety of toppings for your burgers and have so many options for protium. The potato buns are supposedly made in house daily and they are terrific; doesn't get soggy and tastes fresh. My husband and I shared large fries last visit and it was way too much so we decided to get medium fries today and holy cow, they give you a huge portion! My husband is a picky eater but even he was sold on the burgers and fries. The meal between the two of us(2 Burgers, 2 Drinks, 1 Medium Fries) came out to about $22. A little more pricey than what you would get from In'n'Out or other establishments. HOWEVER, the burgers you get are fresher, made to order and the fries are amazingly seasoned and perfectly fried. In comparison to other burger joints, they completely blow them out of the water with their fries alone. My first time at Mooyah. It's a pretty new burger establishment. You can choose from a list of different types of burgers, salads, and hot dogs. Or you can build your own...which is what I did. Certified angus beef patties is what they carry here, along with a turkey burger, and a vegan black bean option. There is something here for everyone. I chose the 1/4 pound patty with potato bun, but they also have a 1/2 pound patty for those with a real appetite. I love all the fresh additions...aside from the standard lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, bacon & avocado, they've got diced onions, grilled onions, and fried onion strings. Also lots of choices for breads and sauces. And for sides, chips, hand cut fries, or sweet potato fries. Now for drinks, you gotta get a Moo shake. 100% pure ice cream in 7 flavors. Best burger place every. It's not one of the trendy looking spots like the stand, cut, burger lounge, or the counter but the food is seriously the best of them all. The burgers taste homemade, like something from a friend's bbq. It's defintely my favorite place. Ron, the owner, is a nice man who treats his employees with kindness. His store is clean and comfortable. All the staff cooking and handling food wear masks and gloves. They really care about cleanliness. I really liked this place! Walked in on a Friday afternoon, and ordered very quickly. The man got the Mooyah cheeseburger while I built my own. I'm a sucker for a build your own burger place hahaha I got double angus beef, American cheese, lettuce, raw and fried onions, pickles, avocado and Mooyah sauce all on a potato bun. It was freaking delicious! We also shared some fries, and the portion for 2 people was way more than enough. Not complaining, because these fries were fresh, hot, and wonderfully salty. In fact, there were so many chocolate chips, they had to be scooped out of the bottom of the cup with a spoon. If you love chocolate chips, this is definitely your shake! The fries come in considerably large portions and the large and medium size we ordered filled up our group with a to-go box of leftovers. Part of the reason there may have been so many leftover fries is because the Laina and I have a certain disdain for skin on fries. In addition to this preference issue, the fries were over seasoned (not something I say very often). I would suggest getting the fries sans the seasoning and season them yourself. The burgers were a huge hit with everyone. The cheese was sufficiently melted onto the patties and the buns were lightly toasted which is a nice touch. The toppings seem fresh and specifically the avocado was ripe and not stringy. She would have appreciated another slice of avocado, but otherwise had no complaints. The burgers themselves were juicy and nicely seasoned. The bacon on my burger wasn't undercooked and I could taste the Applewood. Both the Mooyah and BBQ sauces were pedestrian and the Mooyah sauce is the "standard" secret sauce for most burger joints ... a derivative of 1000 Islands dressing. I believe the meal set my stepchildren back about $13.00 per person with three members of the group getting upgrades to shakes. In my experience, this is a typical price point for a good burger joint these days. The main issue with a return would be the fries, just not a fan of their version and the wife is not down with sweet potato fries either. Yet another burger joint has emerged in Irvine and this one comes from Texas. Mooyah first opened in Plano, TX in 2007. They now have franchises in 38 states. Mooyah's burger concept reminds me of a mix of Smashburger, the Habit, and the Counter. I've never been to Five Guys but people also draw comparisons as well. You can choose white or wheat housemade buns and unlimited toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, jalapenos, grilled onions, Mooyah sauce, pickles, cheese, etc. They serve 3 sizes of fresh cut fries (regular or sweet potato), and cut them fresh in-house. We shared a small size which was adequate for two people. They only fry them once so they can either be crispy or soggy when you get them. Ours were decent but not spectacular. I noticed that they pre-cut and stack the potatoes in the baskets waiting for an order. They also serve turkey burgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, salads, and chicken tenders. I ordered a double stack Mooyah burger with white bun, pepper jack cheese, tomato, jalapenos, lettuce, grilled onions, and ketchup. I also ordered a beverage and the sodas are self-serve. My total was a little under $13. My friend shared the fries with me but she ordered a shake too. You order at the register and a server will bring out your food. For most burger connoisseurs, meat to bun ratio is important and I found that the double had the right ratio in proportion of meat to bun. The white bun was nice and soft but toasted which is what I enjoy. I really enjoy buns that aren't stale and these were fantastic. The meat was juicy and the cheese was perfectly melted. I really enjoyed my burger and ate the entire thing. The fries were just okay in my opinion. The sodas they have are the standard Coke variety but I did like that they had unsweetened tea and cherry Coke. My friend enjoyed her mint chocolate chip shake. These guys have improved their act since the last time that I ate here. I ordered the make your own burger with cheddar cheese with a combo of fries and a soda. The burger patty was cooked very well and to medium rare as I ordered. The bun tasted exceptional this time with a nice, bready, yeasty and fresh flavor. One of the better buns that i have had. I wandered in accidentally on Mooyah's first day open--the cashier told me they had been officially open for just an hour. Their quick service concept is a bit like Smashburger--pay $6 and then pick from a bunch of toppings. I remember The Counter pioneering this in Irvine, and you can get something similar from G Burger too. What would this new entrant do to separate itself from the crowd? For one, a cheeseburger combo was an eye watering $11.25 with tax before tip. This isn't the most expensive item on the menu--a double will set you back more. The topping selection doesn't feel terribly generous, and this being a QSR, there's no waiter service. The actual burger tasted great. Tender and juicy, it really hit the spot. For reference, my creation was pepperjack cheese, fried onion, mushrooms, pickles, tomatoes, and Mooyah sauce (1k dressing) on white. However, it was disappointing to see the amount of grease falling out of the burger--the pool below was almost the size of a hot dog wiener. Given the amount of great-tasting, unhealthy stuff in the burger, something would have had to go pretty wrong for it to taste bad. Fries were good, and they tasted fresh. They looked like Five Guys fries in color and texture, except not gross and super greasy. I generally prefer shoestring-esque fries or Belgian frites, but these were nice. There was a service mishap when I ordered--I thought I saw my burger go by but it was served to someone else. Maybe a minute and a half later, it was given to me without any disclosure that it had been on someone else's table across the restaurant. To the staff's credit, they immediately offered to re-make my burger when I asked them if the other patron had touched my burger. I wouldn't hold this too much against Mooyah as it was their first day open (full disclosure: I didn't ask for this, but the manager gave me a coupon for a free burger later). Show me the Mooyah! I love burger places! The best way to describe the burger style is to think of Five Guys and Burger King "have it your way", but make it not suck and taste much better. If you are a serious burger eater, Mooyah is worth a try, but if you are all-in on the In-N-Out hype have fun going there to wait in line and pretending the burgers are "cool" like iphones. I think In-N-Out fans enjoy talking about the food more than eating it. Just saying. I love a lot of different burger places for different reasons. To help with you burger decision I have created the Five Factors for burger eaters. I wish I could write my final graduate studies paper on burgers rather than financial models, but this review will have to do. Five Factors for a burger eater 1) Burger style (High-end, seated restaurant, fast casual, drive thru, customization) Mooyah is customizable. Pick the bun, sauces, and veggies. The options are plenty, more than most places. Think of having a Pieology selection of options. This can be a pro or con depending on your creation skills. I'm more a purist because I like a good bun with quality meat. I also like veggies but only enough to give the burger some size and depth. Cheese is optional especially if it cost extra. 2) Fries (steak-cut, skinny, ends) The fries are delicious and seasoned well. Sweet potatoes is another option. I don't always order fries, but it's part of the burger experience. Imagine if you could have Five guys fries with and In-N-Out burger. That would make me believe the hype. 3) Shakes (hand made, ice cream, syrup)/ Beer Haven't tried the shakes, but they looked great. Shakes are not needed for the burger experience. A good burger is a double base hit. Good fries is a single base hit, but having a great burger, fries, and shake is a grand slam. 4) Setting (dinning, To-Go, order online) Casual with flat screen TVs. The setting is not a sports bar, but I could imagine enjoying a burger with friends. Plenty of seating. Order online option available which is always a plus during the lunch time rush. 5) Pricing (Above $10, reasonable, cheap, $1 menu) I believe the pricing is fair. Around $10 ish for a combo. I worry less about the pricing than the satisfaction of the meal. At $15 plus burger places the mean must be outstanding while a sub $5 burger is not worth it if you have to order more than one *cough* In-N-Out. Mooyah does pass the test. If you need two hands to eat the burger, that's a good sign. This indicates that your burger is not just a snack. Closing comments Depending on which of the five factors matter most to you will determine which burger joint you go to. If you have time to dine-in, I recommend this place. I will try the online option next time to see how fast and easy it works. If you want good fries, Mooyah is for you. The burger was quite filling and I didn't have the urge to order more food. It's hard to put Mooyah in a specific category because it's slightly different from the other places. Like I stated previously, the best customer for Mooyah is someone that wants a Texas company burger like Burger King and a Five Guys (east coast) type style. Mooyah is for the mid-tier casual burger lover. Mooyah is the better option to step up your game from a BK or Five Guys. However, I don't think this place will satisfy you if you are a fan of The Habit, Smash Burger, or Fuddruckers, because those places are better options. read more

Thank you for not throwing something at my husband when he asked for onions on his burger. There are 3 types of onions clearly listed and he had to say just "onions". Moving on... We ordered, grabbed our drinks and sat. The hubs commented that the chairs were comfortable. Nothing worse than a pain in the butt when eating. The food came out fairly quickly - delivered to our table instead of walking to the pick up counter. Thanks! Burger: Interesting to look at. The beef seemed a little salty to me. The hubs said it had an aftertaste. Not a bad one, just one he couldn't describe. He enjoyed it. I could tell because he inhaled it leaving 2 small pieces of lettuce on the tin tray. Salad: It looked exactly like the picture so I was pleased. I wasn't so pleased with the turkey patty. It seemed spongy and processed. Not a bad flavor though but I wouldn't order the turkey again. The avocado was perfect, tomatoes were firm, bacon bits were deliciously crispy and the lettuce was fresh. They don't give you much dressing so if you're a "salad flooder", order extra. Not a new favorite. Mooyah seemed intriguing as it resembles Counter (to me)--customize your burger with unlimited options. However, here you can make a combo. We arrived early on a Friday night and it wasn't crowded. Definitely fast casual. I ordered a turkey burger on a wheat bun with cheese, lettuce, pickles, grilled onion, mooyah sauce (on the side), along with fries and a drink. They bring the burger and fries to you so I sat down with my drink and malt vineger, awaiting my turkey burger. Ryan P got the veggie burger with sweet potato fries. I find turkey burgers to be very hit or miss. This was a miss sadly. I did not like my burger much. It didn't taste fully cooked but I didn't get sick so it probably was. The bun was good but the star of the show for me were the fries. Those were amazing. I love freshly peeled fries and there was still skin on some of my medium sized fries. Was listening to Neil Saavedra talk about burger month and though why not end May with a burger. I'm so glad I had Mooyah bookmarked. This place serves a serious burger and fries. In-N-out should figure out how these guys are able to make fresh cut fries crispy & tasty. Price-wise it would not be fair to compare to In-N-Out however I can say Mooyah blows 5 Guys, The Habit & Smash out of the water. Food Proportions: 5 stars Service: 5 stars! I was craving for good fries and my boyfriend said that him and his coworker goes to this burger place alot and they have really good fries. The place itself is not hard to find, Google map takes you right to the location. It has private parking lot so there is ample amount of parking space available. It is in the same complex as Ralphs and Chevron gas station. It has outdoor as well as indoor seating available. I ended up getting black bean burger and added pretty much all the veggies [add grilled onions] instead of regular onions. Make sure to add the Mooyah sauce - it seems like its blend of ranch and thousand island dressing [at least that is what it tasted like according to me]. We had a coupon for buy one and get one free that came to our house in the mail! When the server bought our food to the table I was surprised by the proportion of it - I had not ate anything since 8:00 pm night before so I was starving but I couldn't even finish the entire burger and the side of fries. But my craving for fries was definitely satisfied - the crispiness on the outside and the softness in the inside was on point. I personally liked the sweet potato fries rather than the regular fries. Our server was a young guy but he was very helpful in regards to helping me decide what would be good or what I should try especially since it was my first time at the location. He also made couple jokes and small talk when he bought the food to our table. I thought the decor was really cool too, very funny photos of the cows wearing shades! Burgers are exceptionally juicy, without being greasy, and taste very fresh..BUT beef lacks much seasoning or flavor. For this price I expect more punch. They don't even have a house aioli. Toppings lack. No imagination or real flavor allowed. Hand-cut fries are hot, plentiful and good, but lack of a good dipping sauce hurts them. Service is very friendly, though cook times can take a while. Dining room is fast food casual, with mood lighting that helps make comfortable enough. It's a 3.5 star joint. My review doesn't reflect on the workers, they're all doing their jobs perfectly fine and I also won't complain about the layout of the restaurant because I've been familiar with several other venues around this location. I had a great experience going here, it was busy but our orders were made perfectly fine in a timely fashion. The problem is the price of the orders and quality of what you're actually getting. The meat is what you're really paying for, otherwise everything else is nothing but an assembly line of junk. Other than the meat being cooked right, everything around it is basically no better than frozen White Castle burgers. Much like the fries, the burger will get soggy if you don't eat it right away so you're better off dining in. I can't complain too much about the fries, they're the same complaints I have about damn near every other fast food place. The drinks should be cheaper, they're overpriced small foam cups, you're better off taking a minute walk to the Mc Donald's across the parking lot and getting a $1 drink, but I'd recommend eating your burger and fries within that walk so they don't become a soggy mess. I decided to take my food home, and while I appreciated all the ketchup packets, the napkins were scattered around like they were tossed in a trashcan. On a positive note, the workers were polite and the box you get your orders in is a solid ripoff of In-N-Out's style. Your MooYah Lemonade and Pink Lemonade are actually Country Time Lemonade, which I noticed from an open door under the bottom right of the fountain drinks. Originally based in Texas, Mooyah joins the ranks of burger chains here in Orange County. It's less of a fast-food joint and more of a fast-casual spot. We've been here twice already and enjoyed both dining experiences. The menu offers a great selection, but the build-your-own-burger process is quite simple: 1. Choose your burger - beef patty, double beef, turkey, veggie, beef hot dog 2. Pick your bun - white, wheat, lettuce 3. Select your add-ons - cheese, avocado, veggies, sauces The beef patty was juicy, fresh, and well-flavored. Unlike burgers served at other restaurants, the Mooyah burger was not greasy. The fries here are my favorite - skin-on potatoes with adequate seasoning/salt. In addition to burgers and fries, Mooyah offers delicious shakes. We asked them to make us a mint oreo shake even though it wasn't on the menu, and they willingly obliged. This was fairly easy for them to do because their offerings include oreo and mint chocolate chip. The shake was thick, creamy, and not excessively sweet. Sometimes, they have specials, which they post on Instagram. For example, they are currently offering 2 burgers + 2 small fries + 2 regular drinks + 1 big shake for $20. Great new burger place. I was in Irvine for softball and was heading home to Yorba Linda after the game. Trying to avoid traffic I remembered a friend telling me a Mooyah was opening up soon in Irvine. After a quick search I found the place nearby and it's only been open a few days. I ordered the Mooyah Burger w/Swiss on a Multi-Grain Bun. I did not go for the extra cost upgrades, like bacon, avocado etc. I did add some free ones like tomato, lettuce, grilled onions and mustard. I got the combo which included a small drink and small French Fries. They were quite busy filling a large order before mine, but I waited only 5-8 minutes after getting my drink (Coke Products and 3 types of iced Tea and looks like a lemonade. The burger was very tasty, I would definitely repeat here. The real surprise was how great the French Fries were, simply amazing. Some people around me were raving about the shakes, but I will wait for another time to try one. read more

First time at Mooyah. Got a bacon cheeseburger and fries with queso chile sauce. The fries were some of the best I have ever had at a restaurant. The ingredients for the burger were all fresh and of higher quality. The pickles were crunchy, the lettuce was clean, the fried onion strings were crispy and fresh, the bacon was thick and crispy and the Mooyah sauce was nice and tangy. It is pretty clear that Mooyah, atleast when comparing menus and pricing, shares some very similar characteristics with 5 Guys. Who is better? In my opinion, Mooyah is the better choice overall. For the fries, I really do like 5 Guys cajun fries, but Mooyah is the clear winner, it's not even close. So glad I found Mooyah, delicious burgers and tasty fries. I usually get the Well D'Onion burger and sub the spicy ranch for Mooyah sauce and add mayo, add tomato. Even their basic Mooyah burger is good, my kids like it better than In N Out and the fries are crispy on the outside soft on the inside. I also love that when I order on the app, they make the burgers but don't dish up the fries and put them in the bag until I get there to pick up my order. This ensures they'll still be hot and fresh when I get home. Great customer service too. read more

My earlier rating was a 4 and today MOOYAH lost me as a customer. It boggles me how you can spend $25 and they want to charge you $0.50 if you need more than one sauce?! This has never happened at this location before. If my husband and I ordered separately we could have each had our own sauce but we were told more than one sauce per order and there would be a charge. 2 burgers and a large order of fries - one MOOYAH sauce. Unbelievable. I will take my business to Burger Lounge or Chick-Fil-A who have no problem with providing enough sauce for your meal. Great build your own burger in Irvine. Love that they offer a 1/4 lb burger so it's not too much. Sweet potato and regular fires is always a great combo! Love their MOOYAH sauce, but have lots of different sauce varieties available. There is a communal patio to sit outside or plenty of inside seating. Coke instead of Pepsi. Friendly staff and hot food because it's made fresh. Definitely a go to for us! read more

Move aside In N Out. This is my go to place for protein burgers from here on out. I ordered the Lettuce Bun burger with Turkey patty spicy ranch dressing, and avocado and it blew me away. By far the most delicious, flavorful, and juicy turkey patty I have ever had. The regular burgers are also just as delicious, but you need to try the turkey patty. The half and half regular fries and sweet potato fries are ample. You get the best of both worlds and they are fried fresh. No burger is complete without a milkshake here. Real ice cream is used and the milkshakes are thick and creamy, but not impossible to drink. My favorite is the cookie dough milkshake. It's a must-try. read more

MOO-licious! Came here today for an early dinner. Place was empty but quickly filled up shortly after we sat down. I liked the open kitchen design and the steel table modern look. Ordered the double burger w/ cheese and chose grilled onions and mushrooms as my toppings. Burger came out fresh and hot with piping hot fries as well. The patties were very juicy but not oozing in grease/fat. Fries were cooked perfectly with a crispy outside but I felt were a little on the dry side. i didn't think i'd like this burger joint as much as i did. i compared this place to the habit, but i think the food is way better! ~ ~ S E R V I C E ~ ~ honestly, you can't complain about the great service that you get here. the cashiers are super welcoming and even after you sit down, some workers go out of their way to provide great service. while we were eating, one of the male workers kept coming by to ask if we needed anything else. even when i was finished eating, the worker even told me to leave my stuff there and that she would take care of it for me. so sweet! ~ ~ F O O D ~ ~ [ b u i l d your o w n burger] i opted to build my own burger and got the white bun, with swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, friend onion strings, grilled onions, jalapenos, and mooya sauce. i don't know what it is about the meat of the burger but it was to die for! it actually tasted like you were eating meat and not a frozen meat patty. [ l a r g e fries] i definitely shouldn't have gotten the large order of fries because the order was huge!! i don't know what it is about these fries, but they were the bomb dot com. they are on the saltier side, so if you don't like too much salt, you might not like these ... but who doesn't like salty fries?! i asked for a side of ranch and it definitely changed my fry game. i will definitely be coming back, not only for the food, but for the great service! read more

Took a while to get there from Costa Mesa, freeways were packed so we took streets, and those were just as bad...it was around 615 on a Thursday evening though. This burger place is located in a shopping plaza with like 15 other restaurants...so the parking is a bit crazy, lol. I ordered the Mooyah cheeseburger with bacon, crunchy onions, and pickles. It came in a fresh potato bun. The meat was very tasty and crunchy around the edges and the bacon was apple smoked and crispy, very good. I also ordered the chili cheese fries, and I have to say, the chili is my fave item so far. It was perfectly cooked and paired well with the cheese sauce. I wasn't a fan of the fries, but since they were drenched in the chili, they were ok. They do serve plenty of chili fries. We were able to share amongst 3 people. Ok, so I did enjoy the burger, but...I have to say I have had better. Still satisfied though. The employees were super friendly and worked well with one another, which I liked. I rated 4 stars based on the chili and customer service. read more

Decent gourmet burger joint. Got the mooyah burger (mooyah sauce is like a thousand island sauce) and drink and fries = $11. Expensive a little. Fries are good but I prefer the Fat burger steak fries instead. Staff is extremely friendly and burger patty was juicy. Flavor overall was just like an average hamburger joint so nothing really stands out for me here. read more
