I put my fate in his hands, as I booked an appointment without knowing exactly what style I wanted. All I knew was I wanted to go short, and Ali's expertise did it so adorably. My long, even-length, middle-parted, wavy/curly hair that I had always worn in a bun finally deserved to be worn out, and Ali was able to customize just the right look for me, specific to my hair type and styling habits (or lack thereof since I'm more of a wash-and-go kind of girl). I am new to this salon -- just my second visit. My first was for a haircut, second time for cut and highlights (see below!!). A friend recommended it -- it's a small owner-operator shop, so I didn't know what to expect. Ali is a real artist. He spent time talking to me about what I liked and didn't like about my current haircut, then made suggestions and showed me what he would like to do. He did a terrific job -- 4 people commented on my great haircut that afternoon (not joking). At the haircut, he suggested that my highlights would look better with a warmer, more golden tone. I went back a month later for him to do it. Really happy with the results. This is the type of hair salon that any client would love -- lots of attention, great haircuts, great customer service. I got a bought a voucher through Google+ local deals for a mani/pedi for $15. I thought it was going to be a nail salon. But when I got there, I was super surprised to have found this business. Half the store is a beauty salon and the other half is full of clothing, shoes, purses, belts, scarfs, and all kinds of accessories. And I believe the back area have private rooms for waxing and massages. So anyways, they had a hand full of stations for doing hair and 1 station for nails. The lady who does nails is on appointment only. But she did a fantastic job. She took her time and paid attention to detail. She used oil instead of lotion for the massage part of my manicure. She also used hot towels...it was nice. My pedicure was also great. Although, the massage part (which is my favorite part) was way too short. She could have at least gone 5 mins (it was about 2 mins each foot and didn't bother with my lower legs like other places do). But I loved the end results. Another down side was that the polish selection wasn't that "selective". But the few colors that they had were nice....nice reds and pinks, few summer orange colors. But if you like more colors, like greens or blues, they don't have them. You could always bring your own. So I had to wait about less than 10 mins when I first got there but that was ok. It gave me time to check out all the stuff they had for sale. And they had so many cute clothes for really cheap. They were "boutique" looking styles that you would think are super pricey, but they weren't. The most expensive blouse I saw was about $20. They had lots of shirts for under $15. I found a belt and really cute sandals for $5 each. I was planning on going to the mall after to find a birthday gift for a party I was going to that night. Instead, I found the gift there for my girlfriend's party. And found myself a really cute shirt for $15, which I wore that night and received lots of complements on. I spoke to the owner and told him how much I loved the store and all the great stuff he had and for cheap too. He mentioned that he likes to get different unique styles from Europe and other places and sell them at an affordable price. He also said he receives new shipments every Tues and Sat. He has a page on Facebook and shows all the new stuff every week just by "liking" the stores page. The only downside, I think of buying clothes and accessories from there is that all sales are final. But they do have a dressing room to make sure this is what you want. I'm excited to have found this store and it's so close to my house. It is possible I may go back for mani/pedi...possibly try the thredding service that they offer. But I would definitely go back to see what new items they have. read more

I can't believe this place has so few reviews. Well here I go, although it's more of a love story. I first started coming to Moradi as a 23 year old complete bitch. I was an extreme grumpster but Ali and his entire staff always treated me very kindly, and I left with great hairstyles. They saw me as a long, black haired graduate student, then the heavily highlighted boozer, and when Ali refused to help me go as blonde as I asked him to because he said my hair would fall out, he was right there to take me back and nurse my broken bleached strands and shiny new bald spots, never even asking where I'd been or why I'd done such a thing. I also strongly suggest them if you want to get the japanese straightening done to your hair. They make it look very natural and it's fairly affordable compared to what's around. The truly unsung pleasure of this store though is the boutique section. I have seriously bought at least half my wardrobe and jewelry from their boutique, and it's pretty cheap too. Oh also, although I hate this sort of thing, they have facials/massage/waxing as well. Great for gift certificates! Seriously people, I love getting my hair done, and I've slutted my messy mop around this top salon town, and this one is really special. read more

On a college budget, their waxes are really reasonable. I am not in love with the service, I don't need to hear every time about my dry skin or anything else that makes me feel uncomfortable. I don't want to pay 55 dollars for an eyebrow wax though, so Moradi is good with me. The haircuts though are terrible. I have given them more than enough chances to do a simple fringe bang cut, and they always make me look like Loretta Lynn. I will go to Supercuts again over them for my wash and trim. read more

I have recommended so many of my friends to come here for facials with Liliana, and everyone one of them had nothing but compliments of her work. The majority of them are still coming regularly. Ali, the owner of Moradi Studio was coloring my hair blonde after months of deliberation on the subject and he assured me that there would be more than just a beauty bonus to my decision. Southern California was chalk full of blondes and I didn't want to be another one but for once I wanted to see if "blondes really did have more fun." I wanted to see if I would receive a little more attention from the opposite sex. This decision was a joint one. My friend S and I had decided to give it a try together and compare notes. This was the beginning of summer ~ June and I am happy to report bonus, bonus, bonus - the saying is true. It is mid-August and I have never experienced such a phenomena. Ali did a great job on S's hair. She went all out. Platinum. I went a bit more subtle - golden highlights with something other than bleach to keep my fine hair healthy. (Ali's suggestion.) Literally, two days later - S was walking the beach around Santa Monica pier when a gentleman asked her where she got her hair done. She told him and that man promptly came to Ali where not only did he get his hair cut but told Ali he felt ready to ask S out. He gave Ali his number and asked him to get it to S. Wow! That's an all-around compliment and well, a first blonde date for S. As for me - as a blonde I found myself smiling a heck of a lot easier and suddenly all these men (tall, dark and handsome ones) started asking me out! The story that really takes the cake is this one: I was parking my car outside of Moradi Studio on WIlshire Blvd. on my way in for a touch-up (I had a date with this beautiful Greek man that night) and this gorgeous Italian guy follows me into the hair salon. He stayed there the entire time as Ali was putting foils in my hair talking to us both and when I was done - hair all hi-lighted and styled - the Italian took me for risotto. I am not kidding. Yes, women's hair is more complicated, but as a guy it's still difficult to find someone to cut your hair that doesn't treat it as an afterthought. Ali has been my go-to person for a long, long time. He is great at his job! I'm a 22 year old college girl and consistently wanting to change my look regardless if it's color or cut. He listens really well to what you are thinking of doing and discusses it with you. If what you are thinking about doing isn't possible due to the colors that are already in your hair he will figure out a way to give you what you want. I have never walked out of his hair salon unhappy and he does an amazing job with making your hair look natural, as if it grows out from your own head. Really upset with my result here. I have platinum blonde hair & have only bleached it to get it that way--my hairdresser is out of town so regretfully I went to someone new. I called ahead & explained what I needed said I have the volumes of bleach & toner my girl uses went in ahead of time so he could see my hair before I booked an appointment to make sure he would be able to do it as it is a very tedious job, he ensures me that he would be able to & also convinces me to allow him to use dye instead of bleach as I am already naturally blonde. I really wish he would have not insisted he was able to do something that he was incapable of doing, I would so much rather him reject the job than do it improperly. My scalp is very burnt & scabbed & also my roots are orange & my hair is platinum... he was happy to leave it that way but also offered a second process which helped slightly but not much, my roots are yellow against my platinum hair & I seriously just want to cry. I am never one to post on yelp nor be over dramatic but I wanted fresh hair for christmas & now I dread going into work tomorrow, I've tried toning it out but so far no luck /: really really disappointed & more than anything read more

I have been going to Ali for at least 5 years. I have always been happy with his haircuts and his prices cannot be beat. I believe it is about $48 and with blowout ~$60. He also has a clothing boutique in the store with some really adorable clothes (also plus-sizes I noticed) - also VERY reasonably priced.
