Wholly guacamole. Be prepared to be absolutely stuffed when visiting Mar Y Tierra. This Honduran spot will not let you down with their portions. We went for a lunch and I should have taken the rest of the day off after the nap I needed after eating here. We should have just split the nachos alone, never mind all ordering our own dishes after. Expansive menu with a little bit of everything catered to everyone's tastes. This isn't blow you away food, but the flavor and sheer size of the plates alone should make this a destination when looking for Hispanic food. I've driven by over the years and have always wondered. I'm so glad I took the chance and indulged. Check it out for an ample sized meal.

Hubby and I tried Mar y Tierra Restaurant while passing through Charlotte, NC to Ga. As per our waitress- Elena's recommendation, we had the Grilled Octopus with rice and fried yuka, and Shrimp and Octopus Ceviche. While waiting, we were served with freshly made tortilla chips and salsa with our drinks. The restaurant was clean, well lit, and had a feeling of openness to the place. They also had nice seating options either table or booth options. I liked the lively Saturday Night music vibes in the background and had a couple of huge TVs screens along the walls, stationed on a sports channel to pass the time. Although the wait was a bit too long waiting for our food, it was well worth the wait! Hubby's choice of Grilled Octopus arrived hot and was charred to perfection! It had a somewhat creamy spicy sauce over it, while it paired deliciously with the rice and fried yuka fries. I LOVED the yuka fries! I had the Shrimp and Octopus Ceviche which was presented beautifully with cucumbers, tomatoes, and avocados. It had the perfect balance of acidity, seasoning, and spiciness. We enjoyed eating it by itself and with the tortilla chips, which we had for the table. ALL of the dishes were perfectly seasoned, not overly spicy or salty at all, which I'm very sensitive about! Overall, the food was AMAZING and our waitress - Elena was "on point" with her recommendations! I would love to try more dishes too, if we have another chance to come back. MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS, Elena!!

We had worked a very long day down the street and needed a little food and a quick beverage. Little did we know that on Saturday night it's karaoke - the performers were awesome, outstanding talent. Our server was quick with drinks and we ordered nachos. You're the ones with chicken, which were big enough for four people to share. The toppings were fresh and the chicken seasoning was delicious. We may have found our new late night hang when we are in town.

Mar y Tierra (Honduran-Mexican). This was surprisingly good. Hubby got a simple chicken quesadilla. But the chicken had lots of flavor and was honestly exceptional. He also got yellow cherry juice to drink, which was unusual. I got a pork and cheese papusa, horchata to drink, and a Honduran version of steak sope called steak huarache that was very good. So much food, neither one of us could finish. Even the chips and salsa were excellent ! There's a huge variety of options on the menu. They have huge, comfortable booths that could fit 8 people and others that could fit 4. The atmosphere had a good vibe with bright colors, lighting, and latin music. Our waitress easily spoke English as did most servers that came to our table. Plenty of parking as it looks like this place used to be an old Wendy's. I'm definitely going back to try their desserts and cocktails. We saw table after table having desserts and cocktails brought out and this was at lunch on a Sunday ! They looked divine. One guy got churros and ice cream. We saw another get some type of cheesecake and it was huge. Definitely going back with the girls soon !

We selected this restaurant based on its closeness to where we were staying and its yelp rating. They had an extensive menu. However, it was mostly in Spanish. The Mexican menu section was recognizable but much of the menu was Honduras related and the dishes were not familiar. We had the chimichanga, shrimp tacos and a chicken quesadilla. We also had guacamole and chips. The servings were large especially the chimichanga and quesadilla. Both had large amounts of chicken. The sides of salad, refried beans, and rice were also generous. However, the service was disappointing. Our server was pleasant and helpful in taking our orders. The time taken to prepare drinks (wine and margaritas) as well as the entrees seemed long. The guacamole was in the appetizer section of the menu. We expected it to arrive before the entrees but did not receive it it until well after the main dishes. The guacamole was fresh and tasty but too thick for the chips served with it. Our server never stopped to check on us after delivering our food. The next time I am nearby, I will likely go elsewhere.

I went when Honduras and El Salvador were playing. Later in the night they play all types of music, service was kind of slow but it was understandable since it was packed. Waited a bit for our food but it was tasted amazing one of the best pollo con tajadas I've had.

Torre del mar. Lots of shrimp and scallops, octopus and more.

Great experience. Tacos 1/2 off on Tuesday and Thursday. Hugh menu with Hugh selection to choose from. Being an appetite. Nice decor and friendly staff. The carnitas tacos I had were delicious and oversized. They came with a roasted jalapeno and an onion on the plate. This was an upscale addition. Many seafood options. You can split most meals. It says it is Honduran but it looks Mexican to me. Try it for an upscale night out.

The food is always excellent every time I come! The portions are generous, and the prices are more than fair for the quality you get. Highly recommend!

Super salty food, and there was a hair on my order! I don't recommend it. No wonder why it was empty when we got there.

Excellent, authentic Mexican/Honduran cuisine. Ivin was a wonderful bartender/server. The combination pollo/carne/shrimp dinner was amazing. Definitely recommend!

I originally was going to place the order online, but they're online option said it was unavailable so I went inside and sat down at the bar. The service was OK though it seemed most people did not speak English, which is fine. It just made it kind of harder to communicate. That said the food was decent but the reason why I gave two stars was because I feel very misled on pricing. The menu showed Que Siberia tacos three for $12. Steak/Asada tacos for three dollars which brings my total to 15+ the two drinks. I thought she said it was $20.80 so I paid it with my card and gave her five dollars cash for a tip. I get to the car just to double check the transaction and she charged me 3499 on my card and took the cash. I went back inside to confront her about this advising. She completely overcharged me, and she only offered to give my six dollars tip back to me. I am now going to dispute the transaction with my bank because I was unable to resolve this issue. That's sad.

Tacos El Nevado came highly recommended, so I headed over for lunch with high hopes. The restaurant was packed when I arrived around 1:30 p.m., which is usually a good sign. It appears to be a converted fast-food building with its own parking lot, outdoor patio, and a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. Despite the Charlotte heat pushing triple digits, the dining room was comfortable and bustling. Service was friendly from the start, and I was quickly seated with ice water, lemon, fresh chips, and three house-made salsas. The chips were excellent--fresh, crisp, and clearly made in-house. The standout salsa for me was the red salsa, which packed plenty of heat and flavor. There was also a tomatillo salsa and a creamy green avocado-style salsa. Both were good, although the tomatillo leaned a little too tart for my taste. The menu is extensive, with everything from seafood dishes and quesadillas to tacos and larger combination plates. As someone who loves sampling a little of everything, I was hoping for more traditional combo options, but this menu takes a different approach. I ordered the crispy taco plate with rice and beans. The presentation was attractive, with the tacos served upright in a metal rack alongside refried beans and Mexican rice. The rice and beans were both delicious and easily the highlight of the plate. Where things got mixed for me was the taco filling. I was expecting a straightforward seasoned ground beef taco, but the beef filling tasted more like a guisado-style preparation with a softer texture and a slightly tangy flavor profile. It may simply be a regional style or a misunderstanding when ordering, but it wasn't what I had anticipated. The chicken taco, however, was excellent. Tender, flavorful, and clearly made with higher-quality chicken than you typically find in a crispy taco. After trying it, I immediately wished I had ordered all chicken. While this visit didn't completely win me over, I don't think it's fair to judge a restaurant by one dish. The packed dining room, friendly service, fresh chips, excellent salsas, and strong chicken taco all suggest there's more to explore here. Next time, I'd skip the crispy beef tacos and dive into the street tacos or some of the house specialties that seem to be what many regulars were ordering. Tacos El Nevado didn't become my favorite Mexican restaurant in Charlotte on this visit, but it earned a second chance. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. Keep exploring. Sometimes the next great meal is just one menu item away.

I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.

It was really loud for me and could only hear the people next to me. Ordered some drinks and they seemed to be backed up as it took awhile, but their cocktails were very good and yummy. I do like their family style of chips and salsa, especially the spicy green sauce in the bottle. However, it would be nice to have some spoons to share the salsa for the group. I had the cheese enchiladas and it was really delicious. The enchilada sauce was tasty. The rice and beans are also family style and was a nice addition. I did try the chorizo queso and it was a bit too watery for my taste. Service was great and would be back for the Tex Mex food here again.
