I just got into town and was staying at a hotel near the Charlotte Airport. I decided to DoorDash from Azteca Mexican Restaurant, and I'm so glad I did! I ordered the burrito meal, and it was delicious. It didn't necessarily look like a traditional burrito in the to-go container, but it came with rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, and pico de gallo, and everything was fresh and flavorful. The portion was huge, so one serving was definitely enough (I couldn't finish it all in one sitting!). Even though I didn't get to visit the restaurant in person since it was delivered, the food alone makes me want to stop by next time I'm in Charlotte. Great first impression.I'd absolutely order from here again!

Good Tex Mex food with affordable lunch specials. We came on a weekday and had lunch on the patio. The margaritas are big and the food is pretty good.

Still hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Charlotte. I have not been here in years and brought my suburban friends. They have been plagued with bad Mexican in Indian Land, SC so I treated them to a road trip and some of the biggest and best plates. #33 is my go to, enchilada with beef and a tostada with chicken. Rice and beans come with everything and the meal ends with the sweet cinnamon and strawberry dessert. Love this place. Please open another in Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Indian Land area.

Not just another Mexican restaurant, a Restaurant that serves Mexican food. A substantial menu with a variety of options. I chose a favorite, Fajitas and it did not disappoint. Almost exactly twice what I normally eat, so I have lunch today. The corn meal tortillas were among the best I ever had. And Daisy was fast, attentive, and courteous!

OMG the food is amazing very authentic being a truck driver it's really hard to find authentic Mexican food and this place hit the spot we had lunch there and we're definitely coming back for dinner before hitting the road again. Andres was our server he was also great 5 stars all the way around. Trust you won't be disappointed.

    I love it here (:

My favorite Mexican place in Charlotte! The food and service is impeccable. Top notch 5 star table service. EVERY server I've ever had has been excellent and professional. Enjoy the mariachi band on Friday! Pricing, service, environment, and food is perfect everytime.

I stayed at a hotel few minutes down the road, and thought I'd give Azteca a try. It was so good, I went back a second time the next day. Fun atmosphere, attentive staff, and delicious food. The chimichanga lunch special was fantastic.

Was in town for a wedding and stopped here for lunch and my my my I'm glad we did. It was delicious!! Authentic Mexican food our sever was wonderful. We have chicken quesadillas, fajitas, chips and fresh guacamole and margaritas and a sangria and margarita mix. If you're in NC and like Mexican food you HAVE to try them.

Excellent experience. My son and I wanted authentic Mexican food for dinner and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the queso, which was a large portion and delicious. I wanted fish tacos and the server suggested the breaded option. They were amazing. My son enjoyed his food as well! The rice and refried beans were flavorful and hearty. The servings were huge and we had plenty of leftovers. Everything warmed up perfectly for a great lunch for the next day. We topped it off with the Churros for dessert; I am not a fan of the chocolate ice cream with the churros; I will request vanilla next time. They also have a large dessert menu. Finally we had the margarita flight; which came out with a lot of excitement. Order them for a nice surprise. We are looking forward to returning. The restaurant is huge with plenty of seating. We were seated and greeted promptly. The staff were wonderful and very warm and inviting atmosphere.

His service was quick, professional, and welcoming, which really stood out and made us feel taken care of the whole time. It is rare to have a server who brings such a positive energy to the table, and Orhan definitely did that. I ordered the Burrito Basico with steak, and it was amazing. The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, and the burrito itself was packed with fresh ingredients that all blended together so well. Every bite was full of flavor, and the portion size was more than worth it. Between the delicious food and Orhan's outstanding service, this was an excellent experience overall. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend asking for Orhan.

With its subdued lighting, faded brick walls and tightly packed tables, it's the perfect spot to escape with a bottle of tequila on a rainy Friday night. But if your circumstances aren't quite so desperate, Que Onda is also a great destination for an intimate date night or an evening with friends. On a recent visit, my wife and I started with a bowl of chips and queso, accompanied by a pair of oversized house margaritas. When I complained to our server about my drink's disappointing lack of kick, he took it off the bill and recommended the far superior Patron Cadillac Margarita, which improved my mood in a hurry. For dinner, I dove into a delicious taco combo platter of steak, carnitas and baja fish, while my wive enjoyed a tasty Taco Salad. Service was outstanding throughout our meal, the prices were reasonable, and the ambiance superb. Well worth a visit if you're looking for solid Mexican food and margaritas in Charlotte.

I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.

If you're looking for a spot with a high-energy vibe and a killer aesthetic, Superica in South End…read moredefinitely delivers. I visited with a friend on Cinco de Mayo, so as you can imagine, the scene was absolutely chaotic. The wait was a staggering hour and a half, but Superica handles crowds like a pro. They have an outdoor bar and a grill setup serving: * A limited taco menu * Chips and Queso This was a total game-changer. It's a genius move that keeps the "hangry" at bay while you soak up the South End atmosphere. Once we finally scored two seats at the bar, the service remained impressively steady despite the holiday madness. * The Vibe: 10/10. The restaurant is beautiful and definitely fits the trendy Charlotte mold. * The Food: To be honest, I wasn't blown away. Given the hype and the stunning decor, my expectations were sky-high. The flavors were "decent" and felt like a solid performance, but they didn't quite hit that "must-return" level of deliciousness. * Portion Sizes: Huge! I couldn't finish my meal in one sitting. Here's the interesting part: The food actually tasted better the next day. It traveled well and the flavors seemed to settle in overnight. If you can't finish your plate, definitely take it home. Is it worth the South End gas and the hour-plus wait? For me, I'll probably stick to my "old faithful" spot up in the University area for my routine taco fix. However, I'm willing to give Superica the benefit of the doubt. It's hard for any kitchen to be at its absolute peak on Cinco de Mayo. If I find myself back in the neighborhood on a quieter Tuesday, I'd give it another shot just to see if the food can live up to that gorgeous interior.
