I liked the idea of adding my own flavors since I always hated how stingy the portions were growing up whenever I got shaved ice somewhere, it was always like half a squirt and then nothing but ice! So of course since this was self serve I went ahead and pumped generous amounts of multiple flavors to create that childhood dream of a rainbow slushy. Unfortunately for me the cup overflowed with flavoring as the ice melted and I had to pour some out in order to enjoy it. The regular size is already enough to share amongst a couple of people, but they offer an even bigger size if you want. The mango always tastes ripe and fresh and the shaved ice is nice and creamy. The condensed milk on the side is a nice touch so you can adjust sweetness as desired. The mango is already sweet for me so I like to pour the condensed milk on the shaved ice instead. The ordering process is straightforward--either with a person or through a kiosk, and the interface on the kiosk is nice and organized. It's an easy fix if you eat there because you can just ask for more, but it's a bummer when you take it to-go and realize it too late. That said, when the owner is in, the energy completely changes--everyone moves so much faster! The owner is incredibly sweet. Aloha Ice falls into its own category. Having visited Kauai and Oahu multiple times, we have yet to discover any shave ice as good as Aloha Ice. Everything they serve is homemade especially the syrups! Their range of flavors simply cannot be compared to just any other "Torani" syrup, Rita's Italian Ice, 7/11 Icee or any sno-cone out there portraying to be "shave ice."
