Good for what it is, a little drab place where you pull levers to self-serve soft-frozen yoghurt or ice cream. Young person at checkout maybe less bored and annoyed than cashiers usually seem to be. Like in all places like this, you end up buying/paying more than you expected before going in (~$20 for two of the smallest buckets. Good. read more

Why do you guys close 30 minutes before it says on the website. I came at 835 expecting you guys to still be open and I see a worker mopping. This was kind of upsetting because i've loved avalanche yogurt my whole life. If the website says 9pm is closing time then that's when the store should close and start cleaning. read more

During hot days, this WAS our go-to place for a PRICEY yet satisfying refreshing frozen yogurt. I see some of the comments here about it having friendly staff. That wasn't our experience. The two girls were "huddled" together in conversation as we walked in. The day was really hot so I had gotten the biggest size cup for myself. Well, something was wrong with chocolate flavor machine as it came out extremely soft like water. My wife showed me hers and her flavor was coming out watery too. I nicely went over to the two huddled girls and said "I'm going to leave this with you, the chocolate machine is not working. It's coming out like water". Instead of saying, oh sorry about that, go ahead and pick another machine, she tells me "you still have to pay for it, the machine is doing that because of how hot is outside"! WTF?! What does the weather outside have to do with functioning machines inside. We wanted "frozen yogurt" not a drink! I said, oh HELL NO I'm not going to pay for watery yogurt!" and told my wife let's go, we're leaving. . Terrible service, and should be reported to the owner of this establishment. Who's hiring these employees. Terrible customer service training. Fix your damn machines ! read more

Just wanted to give a shout-out to this wonderful froyo place. This was our second visit in as many weeks. This place is spacious and neat/clean. Lot of flavors to choose from (8 flavors each time I've visited). A ton of toppings to decide on. And super nice staff. If you haven't visited this place, this is a good (triple-digit heatwave around Fourth of July) week to start. read more

Lots of flavors to choose from as well as toppings like chocolate chips, cereal, mochi, sour candy, boba and more. Sauce toppings included the basic chocolate and caramel, but have marshmallow and even peanut butter. Decent amount of seating, but I can see when it is hot summer days how finding a place to sit might be a challenge. Shoutout to the girl working because she cleaned up the froyo station, toppings and tables right away. DO NOT PATRON HERE!!!!! If I could give -1,000,000,000 stars I would. Came here with my 1 yo in a carrier and 4 yo. When tasting, the handle didn't go all the way back up and yogurt continued to dispense for 3 seconds. The manager then comes over and barks that I had to pay for the yogurt that spilled out and even had the nerve to tell me we could eat it. I told her that was outrageous considering my hands were mite than full and the fault was on her shady machine. She insisted this was there policy and told me I didn't have to patron there at all and could just leave. I'm incredibly proud insulted and my kids were both crying while leaving. read more

Went into Avalanche Yogurt on Oliver in Fairfield, the person I went with had a service animal. As soon as we walked in an employee ran and stopped us, we explained it was a service animal. He unfortunately kicked us out anyways. We did ask for a managers number, after showing him the laws. He gave us the number and totally dismissed us. We called the manager Sandy. When she called back she was rude and told us that she agreed with the worker there, and we asked her to look into the law which she refused to do. She mocked us and told us to have the ada call her. She explained that they only allow seeing eye dogs, and dogs for the deaf. They had no issue discriminating against a disabled person. And humiliating the person in the process of it. Sandy said for us to go ahead and share because she didn't care; so hoping to shed some light on the treatment we experienced. Also if anyone knows how to reach an owner so we can let them know what is happening in their establishment, that would be great. Have recordings, if owners want. My daughter loves it here! It's our go to for froyo. They have a good selection of flavors. My favorites have been the Original Tart and Raspberry Pomegranate Sorbet. My daughter likes the chocolate-vanilla swirl and all the toppings! They do have a great assortment of toppings. We especially love the pop-able boba. Lately they've had lychee, mango and strawberry flavored boba. Due to the pandemic, they do require that we wear gloves (which they provide) to serve ourselves. They also can serve us if you don't feel like wearing gloves. They also have a hand sanitizer dispenser near the gloves. I love that they require this; definitely a great way to curb the spread of germs whilst still enjoying the froyo experience. Each time we've visited, all of the employees have been very friendly. Not to mention, their prices seem super fair. Just today, we got a kid size and a regular size froyo. With a generous amount of yogurt and toppings in both for less than $11. I was SHOCKED to say the least. I was honestly expecting it to be like $20... HAHA! Love this place and we will continue visiting this location. Thanks for the great service! I've been meaning on coming to avalanche yogurt for some time now, it was about time, I pass by everyday! Parking was easy and the place didn't seem to busy. I was helped by an older lady that was super friendly. They had many flavors, reading some of these reviews, I was only expecting around 4 but there was at least 10. I ended up getting the original tart, strawberry tart, pecan praline, and vanilla. All were awesome flavored and toppings were fantastic. Both dry and wet toppings! I think it's something like $0.55 cents an oz. Kind of cool but they subtract the weight of the cup. I'll come back soon, but I hope they're able to rotate flavors! read more

Loved the Euro Tart, Pomegranate Raspberry, and Blueberry flavors. Vanilla was OK, but that's just not a flavor I usually choose anyway. Mango Sorbet was a bit disappointing. All in all, though, price was on point for the quantity and quality. read more

Great location. I only do tart and their tart selection is limited to only Original flavor. Their frozen yogurt is too soft and therefore melts too fast. Otherwise, great ambiance, great service. My kids love it. read more

Showed up right at opening so the frozen yogurt wasn't quite ready yet? Idk. But it was very runny. One of the machines was not on, which limited the flavors even more. Love the toppings, it's the only plus to this place. It was pretty dirty and the machines smelled of being wiped down with a stinky rag (we all know that smell, right?). The employee sat in the back the whole time, except once we needed to pay. I'd suggest she could use some of her time to clean, the place needs a good scrub... it was definitely not dirty from a busy day, looks like layers upon layers of nastiness. read more

We went to have yogurt with my family. My 6 yr old had 1 of the small tasting cups. He reached over and tried another flavor with the same cup. It never touched the dispenser, just filled his tasting cup. The manager/owner ran over and scolded my son, saying that he was infecting the dispenser by doing that. My son just froze.... Never again!! Why, because the last time, same older lady, gave me 2 tasting cups, that I gave to one of my kids. I then came back for my 2 and she said only 2 tasting cups per customer, so I asked for my son's "2 tasting cups". She rolled her eyes and handed me the 2. So, if you want to sample some frozen yogurt, make sure you choose wisely! You can only sample 2 and can't not try a diff flavor withthe same cup, or you'll get scolded by the manager/owner! read more

Walked in with two elderly ladies, and we saw the girl in the back on her phone. We were not greeted. We helped ourselves to yogurt and proceeded to pay. One of the elderly lady's walker became stuck with gummy worms that were all over the floor. The other elderly lady was picking up gummy worms with napkins off the floor as the employee just stared at her. It was extremely awkward, and the place overall was kinda dirty. I didn't leave a tip. read more

I recently went here with my mom and daughter and again with my boyfriend. The inside is very spacious and there is a variety of well stocked toppings (including fresh fruits and more decadent cheesecake bites). Both of my visits I've gotten the nonfat Country Vanilla flavor and enjoy it. I will agree with other reviewers who say that the fro-yo melts pretty fast. Perhaps a slight drop in temperature is in order? I got strawberry, mango, kiwi and a few chocolate covered pretzels for my fro-yo. Fresh and refreshing, nice. The guy behind the counter was the same both times and greeted us upon our entering. The place is kept very clean as other reviews also stated. Worth stopping in if you've got a craving for something cold. The prices for their fro-yo with toppings are 39 cents an ounce, not too bad! read more

I have been going to this place off and on for awhile. Although the yogurt is good, and they offer a variety of flavors, the reason that I give them 1 star is because of the lack of knowledge that the employees have regarding what they serve. The last time I was here I asked what ingredient was used for their no sugar added yogurt. The lady said that she did not know, but assured me that they use "all natural" ingredients. Today I posed they same question to another worker, and was told that she did not know what was used. She texted the question to the owner and he never responded back. I asked if they had a binder of ingredients anywhere in the store for customers and the answer was no. This just does not cut it for me. Consumers should know exactly what we are eating. It is my hope that the owner reads this and one not only educate his staff on the yogurt, but also make that ingredient information available to customers. read more

Some of the less common flavors include strawberry, pumpkin, coffee, and mint chocolate chip. Service has been great. If you want you can even ask for a random assortment of ice cream sandwiches. At times the parking can be a little limited since there's a popular brunch spot a couple doors down. But it's well worth a visit especially on warmer days if you're in the area.

While we were there, a lady came in with her little boy looking for ice cream cookie sandwiches. Of course, she also struck out. Then she saw the chocolate chip cookie and ice-cream pie and asked for one of those. When she was handed the box, she realized it was not made with a big chocolate chip cookie, but a big brownie. She asked if she could have one with the cookie instead of the brownie. Well, of course they didn't have any, she reluctantly agreed to take the brownie version of the ice-cream pie. So, I guess the moral of the story is, if you're already having a bad day and want to take it to the next level, this is your place. They will have nothing you want, you will buy something you don't actually want and then be deeply disappointed. Try Dairy Queen.

Most companies with decent customer service would honor something like that. As someone with 15+ years in customer service, it's disappointing to see an establishment with so much potential fall so short in this area. The staff comes across as cold, monotone, and uninterested in helping customers. To make matters worse, there seems to be little to no manager or lead support available to assist with bigger issues. Unfortunately, the customer service here has been a zero every time I've visited.

I like the flavors. Pretty much everything except on more than one occasion my friend and I leave with two spoons and one napkin to share between the two of us. I mean, do we really have to ask for another napkin. Shake my head. Tell the girls to give each customer two napkins a piece and stop being so stingy with the napkins. Why in the world would you give only one napkin to two customers? I think I'm going to have to start bringing my own. And a side not: afterwards one night, we sat outside Mary's to eat our yogurt, while a monster truck pulled into the handicap spot and he and his girlfriend or wife went inside avalanche and I watch a real handicap lady about 85 years old had to get dropped off in the street and watched as she struggled to walk the additional steps with her cane to get into Mary's. Extremely rude of a man and his muscle truck to park in a handicapped spot. I got up and checked his back license plate to be sure he wasn't handicapped and no he did not have a handicap plate. So typical of American men with a complex to do this it was very upsetting. read more

I really enjoyed my visit to Avalanche Frozen Yogurt in Fairfield! The shop has a clean, relaxed vibe and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I loved that they have a good variety of frozen yogurt flavors and toppings, and it's great that you can sample before choosing so you get exactly what you want. The seating is cozy enough if you want to sit and enjoy your treat. The only thing is that the flavor and topping selection can vary, so sometimes it feels a little limited, but overall it's a fun spot for a sweet treat or a casual outing. read more
