I had already planned to leave a tip, but when it wasn't what they considered their "minimum," I was questioned about it and even laughed at. That alone was unprofessional, but it didn't stop there. The front desk staff then pulled out a tip sign that was hidden behind another sign--something that should have been clearly visible from the start if it's truly their policy. On top of that, I was charged more on my card than what I was told. Fifteen percent does not equal twenty percent, and that kind of discrepancy is unacceptable. To make matters worse, the towels used during the service had a noticeable mildew smell, especially the one placed on my face, which completely took away from what should have been a relaxing experience. Overall, between the lack of transparency, pressure around tipping, being overcharged, and poor hygiene standards, this was not a professional or comfortable environment. I would not recommend this place.

A 25% tip was clearly pushed as the standard, regardless of the quality of service. I felt pressured to tip generously even though the experience didn't justify it. Tipping should reflect service, not be demanded. Overall, I left feeling dissatisfied and overcharged. I would not return.

My wife and I like to get couples massages here once a month and they have a number of rooms that can be combined to enable it, so it's easy to schedule. Pricing is good considering the Bay Area and you can get a membership that lowers the prices further. Parking is tricky around dinner time as the parking lot is shared with some restaurants and a local dive bar, but during the day it's very easy.

Check in with the receptionist and they will let Shannon know you're there. The room itself is very nice and has a huge bathroom with a shower attached so that you can rinse off before or after (though, I wouldn't expect to spend a lot of time primping unless you make prior arrangements.... time may be a factor). this review is about a year overdue, but better late than never!…read more i scheduled a 90 minute massage with shannon about a week before my half marathon since i knew that my muscles would be needing some tender loving care the day after the race. it was easy scheduling a time with shannon, i called her, left a voice mail with my preferred day/time and she called me back shortly thereafter and we confirmed an appt. when i came in, my legs were definitely quite sore and tight, so i came in hoping that shannon would be able to ease the tightness, flush out the lactic acid, and get some blood circulating back in my quads, hamstrings, and calves. we spent a few minutes discussing my needs and current status, and shannon told me that she regularly works on tri-athletes and is therefore very familiar with athletes' muscles. since i was fresh off a "stressful" event, at least, for my body, she said that she would not be giving me deep tissue treatment, but rather a lighter, swedish to help loosen up the tight leg muscles. she used long, smooth strokes on my legs, and took her time in breaking up the tight muscles and adhesions that had formed as a result of the pounding from the day before. she also spent a good amount of time on my back since that was a bit sore as well, not quite as sore as my legs, but still in need of some attention. overall, i received an excellent massage, and shannon definitely has a great feel for the body. aside from the fact that i had just completed a half marathon 24 hrs earlier and was quite sore from the waist down, i didn't have to give her any additional information in order for her to give me a fabulous massage.

I've tried other CMTs, and their method for "deep tissue" seems to be to dig in hard and wrench the sucker apart while I levitate off the table in pain (I once had striped bruises after seeing someone on vacation in Maui. I looked like a convict tang.) There's some magic in Patty's hands that talks to the miserable tight knots and says, hey, it's okay, you can let go. No bruises, no eyes watering in pain, just the muscles being soothed into softness. Lately I've been going to her for Rosen Method work... interesting stuff and very effective in loosening up things (and emotions) I had no idea were stuck. She's more on the expensive end... but she cares, she's grounded, she's thoughtful, she's compassionate. She's totally worth it -- she's the best massage therapist I've ever been to.
