I was in Morgan Hill to meet up with some friends recently.  I was early to the event, so I had…read moretime to check out BookSmart before they closed on a Saturday.  Nestled in a busy shopping center, there's plenty of parking in the lot (even though it was a busy weekend afternoon/evening).   While the store isn't the largest, there are plenty of books adorning the walls and lining the shelves in the middle aisles.  There are plenty of the normal best sellers available, but also plenty of treasured finds.  Though I only spent 20 minutes in browsing the stacks, I stumbled upon an independently published sports book as well as 2 childrens books I haven't found elsewhere, all of which will make great holiday gifts.   Coincidentally, the day I visited was also BookSmart's 30th anniversary party!  They had complimentary glasses of champaign as well as a photo booth for their regular customers (both of which I politely declined).  It's great to see an independent bookstore thriving in this community.  The next time I'm in the area, I will stop by and take more time to check out the inventory!

Clean parking lot, a ton of parking and upon entering my first impression was of how big it is!!! There were so many people and evidently resellers grabbing carts full of clothes and shoes. There is some sort of schedule switching out the bins and folks attack the bins---eeekk!! My friend and I were able to find some really nice pieces--a wool coat with fur collar, Zara, Ralph Lauren, Mango, Cotton On, Reformation, wool, cashmere and just some really good finds. Not many good items in the houseware bins a lot of junk with a couple good baskets. There's also a furniture section with some good pieces. There's a section with a few couches for folks to sit and resellers literally sit and relax taking breaks in between their day. Interesting. We spent more time in there than I'd like to admit and I walked out with 19 lbs totaling $59. WILL DEFINITELY BE COMING BACK!!!

The service was nice and friendly. The selections were of decent quality and just fine. Inside the store itself was a modestly lit atmosphere, this worked well for this location. All in all , another great place to shop for some interesting finds.

Vicky is the pantry manager and has excellent skills in gathering free supplies and food to be donated. Many south bay companies have come together to become involved and give to this gilroy community in their time of need. Through Gavilan College they offer students to work here for minimum wage. What an excellent way to give back. As well as a great way to earn some much needed money while being a student. Thanx Gavilan =)

I'm a member and…read morehave been completely disrespected by the females, specifically the elderly bartender lady who isn't a member, and the supposed bar manager / auxiliary president for their own personal reasons. And sadly this is the case in a lot of situations with certain female members these older woman are, maybe jealous of or just do it becuz they have some chip on their shoulders and haven't seemed to be able to leave the high school mean girl attitude at the door with their personal issues. They do not follow the bylaws here at all and being in the board and not following them is a complete disrespect to all veterans and their families this place as all other American legion posts were built for and around for a place to go that is not a public dive bar. I noticed people reviewing speak of it and even literally say, it is a local dive bar. This is becuz, the females, such as Jenn, the auxiliary president whom wasn't a member for years and had still frequented it knowing she was eligible, which in itself is breaking a bylaw. She obviously is not only ignorant of how to properly keep a bar stocked with the liquor that she drinks and makes sure to never have a shortage or run out of,(I've personally worked there behind the bar with her as the manager and witnessed this), but more so ficus and be sure not to run out of the vets and their families liquors and beer they drink regularly, before the next order. She not only is ignorant and unaware of what the laws for managing and or employing people are, she also continues to fail to familiarize herself with any of the bylaws or code of conduct required specifically regarding fellow members and how to respectfully treat them with fairness and be polite leaving personal issues she has within at the door. It breaks my heart as a daughter of a Vietnam veteran and a auxiliary member myself and as a former bartender at this post, that these women have taken this place the vets and their families have to go that's NOT PUBLIC and has other fellow vets and their families and friends to relate to and find peace and understanding that isn't found at ur local watering hole or public dive bar. Every non member is as a rule across the board, supposed to be signed in and a guest of a current member. Obviously this STILL is overlooked and Jenn runs the bar like a dove bar open to the public, as it is expressed and implied in some of the former reviews here. Disrespect doesn't describe what I view their misconduct and breaking of these bylaws by these female members. I can only pray that the Veteans see this and know it could ruin the privilege of having this place to go to to begin with. My father is more than upset about this as a fellow Legion member. Shame on these elder females for not standing up for what it stands for and the purpose it is supposed to have. Very sad.
