They began by learning about the seven elements of art in a clear and age appropriate way. After that, they created their own clay sculptures, which allowed them to apply what they had learned in a hands on and meaningful way. The highlight was when a docent guided the students through the galleries and taught them about different art pieces. The explanations were thoughtful, interactive, and kept the students genuinely interested. Our class left inspired, excited, and talking about art long after we left. This was an excellent educational experience, and I highly recommend the Meadows Museum for school field trips or anyone looking for a rich and memorable art experience.

There's a small gift shop on the first floor carrying all the typical things you might expect: burnt silk shawls, well-made children's toys of natural materials, jewelry, postcards and books. Deep in the heart of Mesquite (or Sunnyvale, or Seagoville...whatevs) lives a cute 'lil dirt track…read morecalled the Devil's Bowl. It's kinda like Nascar only cuter. And way more affordable. We came for the World of Outlaws Sprint car racing and had no idea the evening would turn out to be so much fun. 900HP teeny cars screaming down a dirt track 2X2 and sideways?? Yes, please. Here's a hint or two to make your visit the best it can be: *I'm not sure if they're all like this but the premium seats (we paid $40/ticket) are actual chairs. No need to bring stadium chairs to save your butt from hard bleachers. *No outside food and drink, but there are plenty of food vendors on site. Just know that the lines get absolutely ridiculously long during the race. *This place fills up on the weekend. Get here early and experience all that is redneck racing! *If you want to see pit road, you won't see it from the main seats. The cars all exit and go behind the track for pit work. Miss Ginger Fox herself doesn't pressure you or watch you while you view her gallery which is great. This little treasure trove of the Bishop Arts District is a must-see after grabbing some Eno's Pizza or Emporium Pies. There are some signs that say "No Pictures" though, so please be respectful to the artist. Pricing is in the thousands, but I think they're worth it. Every piece speaks for itself and is abstract enough to put anywhere in your residence. The top Google searches, this Yelp ad, TripAdvisor--none of them showed this as a moving temporary display. If you really want to see (and pick) tulips, next year go to Texas Tulips north of Dallas. At least their website makes the address and their open/close dates very clear.
