Such a great little beach town bakery. Their bagels are excellent, and the bacon, egg, and cheese is a go-to--simple and done really well. They also make great lunch sandwiches, and the baked goods are worth stopping for, especially the lemon poppy muffin, which is always fresh and flavorful.

Ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and an iced coffee. Both were delicious! The sandwich was $10 and the iced coffee was $3. They do a 3% discount if you pay cash. They also have a variety of goodies like muffins and scones. There is outdoor seating that is covered. There are only stairs to enter which may be difficulty for some patrons. The staff were great. The wait times were a little long, about 25-30 minutes for the sandwich. Would definitely come back to this quaint cafe for breakfast and would love to try out lunch.

I got the Beach Babe Everything Bagel and it was ABSOLUTELY delicious! This is a great spot to grab breakfast on the go, walk around the markets, and head to the beach! Service is quick, I appreciated the staff for answering my questions and providing recommendations. I love how this eatery is situated right next to numerous little stores, so you are not waiting long for your food.

Went here for breakfast. This spot is in a very central location super close to the boardwalk. I got a croissant breakfast sandwich with bacon. It was good but nothing special. I wish the croissant was a bit more flaky/crispy instead of completely soft. There was great outdoor seating though, and a very cute puppy at the door that seemed to be part of the place :)

Food is great. Service can be slow when busy, 45 minute wait for a breakfast sandwich on Sunday morning. I understand they had a help wanted sign in the door and one person working the kitchen but need to be better prepared on a busy day. Order ahead and save yourself a slow wait. That being said, probably the best cafe/breakfast spot in the area. Bagels and crossaint breakfast sandwiches are absolutely BOMB. Again I want to PRESS. AWESOME FOOD. amazing pastries, breakfast sandwiches and more. Great vibe dog friendly. REALLY GREAT. wait time was a bit disappointing but next time I went, called it in and was perfect and ready to go. Highly recommend. A new favorite.

Food looked great but a 45 min wait for a bagel and a 20 min wait for an iced coffee...no thanks. Service needs a lot of improvement.

Review for Heidaway - Bethany Beach, DE…read more It was the weekend after Memorial Day 2025--when the beach is still buzzing, but you can actually find parking and order a drink without elbowing someone in a straw hat. We rolled into Bethany Beach to kick off our summer, minus the chaos, and Heidaway was the first place that pulled us in with a wink and a steel drum beat. Right on the edge of the boardwalk, this place has big tropical energy. Think Key West meets Delaware--palm fronds, sea breeze, and the gentle background hum of fun. The outdoor seating is shaded but still breezy, like Mother Nature knows you want SPF without sweating through your shirt. And the music? Bright, beachy, and setting the scene for "yes, we are on vacation, thank you." Service? On point. From the friendly hostess to our magical waitress who somehow knew when we needed napkins, another round, or just a smile--everyone brought their A-game. No tourist trap vibes here. Just good, solid hospitality. Cocktails: We kicked off with a Moscow Mule, chilled in a classic copper mug and strong enough to make you forget your group chat's been blowing up since Tuesday. Spicy, refreshing, and just boozy enough to remind you you're off the clock. And the second drink? Let's call it the Mystery Mai Tai of Joy. We don't remember what was in it. We just know it was tropical, delicious, and made us say "we should move here" at least twice. The Food: Oysters Rockefeller - Baked to perfection, smothered in a creamy, herby sauce and topped with crispy breadcrumbs. The kind of dish that makes you lean back in your chair and toss your plate at a fireplace (if they had one) Lobster Roll & Fries - A buttery masterpiece. Generous chunks of lobster, golden toasted roll, and fries that nailed the crispy-soft ratio. They didn't hold back with the portions, and we didn't hold back either. Beet Salad - A beachy surprise hit. Sweet roasted beets, creamy goat cheese spread, and peppery arugula doing a power pose on the plate. It made us feel like we were balancing out the rest of the meal... even if dessert was already a foregone conclusion. If you're heading to Bethany and want to dodge the madness while still soaking up summer magic, Heidaway is a great spot. Come for the drinks, stay for the oysters, and let the ocean breeze convince you that everything is right in the world--even if only until Monday.

Each dish was excellent -- fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The coconut cream pie was a standout dessert, and the seafood dishes were cooked perfectly. Atmosphere We sat at the back of the outside patio, which was pleasant in terms of seating and ambiance. However, the location had some drawbacks: The dumpster was directly behind us, and the smell carried into the dining area. Flies were present on the patio, and it seemed likely they were attracted by the dumpster rather than the breeze. 14 Global, the neighboring restaurant, had a cook who frequently exited the side door next to our table to smoke. The cigarette smoke drifted into our eating area, only 5-10 feet away. Overall Impression While the food was outstanding and the patio seating had potential, the environmental factors significantly detracted from the experience. The proximity to the dumpster and cigarette smoke made the meal less enjoyable. Recommendation I would not discourage anyone from visiting Patsy's -- the food is worth it. However, I would caution diners about the back patio seating, as the location near the dumpster and neighboring restaurant's smoking area can affect the overall dining experience.

We were here in March on a Sunday at 2 PM for happy hour at the bar with our friends. We were able to get 5 bar stools in a row. The bar area is relatively unchanged except for some new paint, however the two adjacent dining areas to the left and right of the bar were totally renovated and painted white with a much cleaner and brighter appearance. I enjoyed my usual 2 rum punches for $10 each and my usual happy hour broiled blackened flounder fish sandwich with tomato, red onion, lettuce, french fries, cole slaw and tartar sauce for $12. I opted for their hot sauce on my flounder and french fries. Bartender Andrea F. served us very well as usual. Consistency is a character of this restaurant. My total bill was $77 excluding gratuity. We agreed we will continue to return here for happy hour.

The place was lively with the sound of the trivia game that was going on. Fortunately, we were seated in their dining area where things were a bit quieter. I ordered the fiery fingers (buffalo chicken tenders) and my son ordered the fried shrimp platter. Firstly, my chicken fingers, were literally the "best" I've ever had! No joke, they were fried with a light crispy breading and seasoned to perfection, not too hot, but just the right amount of spicy! My son enjoyed his shrimp and had nothing but good things to say about his meal - except for one little thing. He thought that for the price, they could have maybe added a couple more shrimp to the order (he had only eight). Other than that - Cottage Cafe is fantastic and five stars to the chef and staff! I will return and would recommend this place.
