    Lychee with coconut jelly ($5.50)
    C. H.

I noticed this bubble tea shop when I was in the area and stopped by to buy a lychee with coconut jelly bubble tea. It was reasonably priced at $5.50. Drink tasted as expected and reminded me of the classic bubble tea options when I was in college. The place is not super fancy and their menu offerings is average at best.

Good place for Bubble Tea on the North Shore. We have only tried the bubble tea, so I can not comment on the food quality. This is a smaller joint located across from a high school with a lot of international students. Bubble teas run about $5 per. It's a mix of powder and fresh fruit flavours. I like that you can mix two flavours. We like to go with Taro/ Coconut - and when we bring kids here they will experiment with all different kinds of mixes. It's also located beside some nice walking paths by the water, so on a sunny day you can grab you bubble tea and go for a walk. Good spot.

We were half way through figuring out our order when a waiter came by to say not to use the QR code as the kitchen can't differentiate between "to go" and dine-in orders. We were given paper plates, paper napkins and plastic utensils to eat on/with. Main dishes were served in cardboard trays and bowls and we had to ask for serving utensils. The ambiance was horrible as you felt like you were dining in a cheap cafeteria! You're better off ordering takeout!

From the moment we walked in the entrance there was an odour, perhaps a musty smell, from the very old carpets perhaps? From there we were seated in the solarium. The glass panels on the roof and walls were filthy and cob webs streamed down from the ceiling on the inside. The outdoor garden has been totally neglected. I would have thought that for the summer months, especially tourist season this would have been a priority. Very disappointing. I hope that's no indication of how the kitchen looks.

We…read morecame on a weekday afternoon right before the busy lunch hour - it was packed 30 min after we arrived! The gentleman (owner?) greeted us and provided us with some suggestions on their best sellers. During our dining experience, he was a little loud with shouting instructions to the kitchen and we did feel a bit rushed to finish our meal and not occupy the table with diners lining up. I ordered the beef noodle soup, and the noodles were prepared well (good texture and not soggy) and the soup had a slight but not overwhelm sour taste from the preserved vegetables. The beef wasn't as tender as it could be, but it wasn't chewy or tough to eat. Prices are reasonable at around $20 after tax and tips. While it wasn't the best or most authentic beef noodle soup I've had, it does hit the spot if I'm craving Taiwanese food downtown or want a hot bowl of noodle soup on a cold day.

I think most people do that so it also gets filled up during the lunch hour rush. The food is ok, nothing special. The price increase makes it even less appealing. I don't know why there is chili in my Taiwanese beef noodle soup. I don't like spicy soup. Lucky I am ok with spice but I wish it is stated in the menu? So if you cannot take spicy food, check with them before ordering. The beef noodle soup is tasty as I do like the addition of pickled vegetables in it, giving a bit of tartness. The beef is tender though the quantity is very little. More noodles than meat ratio. The combo is totally not worth it now that the price has gone up to about $13. If you want rice and noodle for lunch, I think Peaceful Restaurant across the street is a better bet. At least the portion is bigger.

The menu is different now - its bigger, and they have some meal set/combo options. Also more drink options. I tried: Nitro pear tea - excellent. get this. The nitro adds a smooth finish and the fresh pear puree is excellent with the tea. 5/5 signature sliced noodle with beef - not bad. Nice "wok hei" on it but its a bit wet/greasy. The beef in it was good but not many pieces. 3.5/5. Taiwanese stir fry rice noodle - pretty good. Well seasoned, not too greasy tasting. 4/5. Fried chicken nuggets - a classic. solid. 4.5/5. odd to put this here but they have a house made hot sauce with chili and garlic which was bomb. They charged $1 for it. 5/5. If you like spicy stuff, get this and put it on everything. Theyve done really good things since theyve opened. Menu is broader, a lot more options and classics for Taiwanese food. Restaurant still looks and feels new. Its clean and comfortable. Quality is pretty good. Value is not bad, portion size is fair and prices are slightly higher but in today's economy, being right on W. Broadway, and a more upscale (but casual) place, its reasonable. Overall solid 4/5.

Boba and desserts too.

We came here during prime dinner time and was surprised how empty the restaurant was. The food was not bad. They serve Taiwanese food or basically same as the restaurant that used to be here. Not sure if it is the same owner who just changed the name of the restaurant or if it is under an entire new management. Service was good. There are plenty of parking spots. The beef was nice and tender, and the noodles had a satisfying chew. It also came with a marinated egg, which was nice. The combo included a refreshing iced jasmine tea (not sweet btw, if that's your thing!), and at $14.99 for the whole meal, the price was quite reasonable. The only downside was that our drinks took a while to arrive, and the wheat germ milk tea my sister ordered was just "not it." The texture of the pearls didn't meet our expectations, and the tea flavor was lacking. I would probably come back for the noodle soup, but I'd skip the bubble tea next time.
