    bubble tea

First thing: I can't get over the prices! The BBQ meat on rice was only $11.50 (had to add a little bit of money for the bubble tea though) The meat was decently portioned, but a little too salty for me. It came with a soup, corn, and cabbage. Only thing was that there was more rice than anything else (But what did I expect for $11.50) Seafood hotpot was about $14. It came with whatever a normal hotpot would have, including a mussel (sunk to the bottom) and 2 large prawns (hidden under the ladle) Good food for the price! We were one of the only tables there, so of course service was fast. I would've liked if they brought my drink sooner, they didn't bring me my bubble tea until I was already half done my meal... Not the fanciest place (minimal decorations and no music) , but for the prices, I might go again.

I went to this place randomly because the restauranted I wanted to go to was closed on holidays. The English name says hotpot and they do serve a lot of hotpot stuff, except it wasnt kept warm like normal Taiwanese hotpots. Just a stone bowl. I wanted to order the braised pork but they said they sold out of it so I opted for Kungpow chicken. The taste was good but the ingredients weren't standard and I've never seen a dish prepared like that. The set came with rice and soup (the soup was just miso soup) We also ordered the Taiwanese fried chicken nugget and the taste was good but the bowl had an oily bottom so at the end, the last pieces of chicken were soggy. One thing I found disappointing was that the rice they give you is very little. All Taiwanese places would give you a full bowl with a hump on top but this place was deflated, less that even the top of the rim. Needless to say, this place is not very authentic Taiwanese but it still has good flavor for home-cooking style dishes. There is one hour or two hour parking outside and to the side of the complex.

Veggie hot pot (without egg to make it vegan)

Perfectly fine Taiwanese food with a veggie hot pot option. I stopped in for a quick lunch and got their veggie hot pot ($11.50 plus tax; omitted the egg to make it vegan). The hot pot comes with all sorts of veggies, plus steamed tofu, a choice of noodles (I got green bean) and a side of rice. I asked for it spicy and it was sufficiently so. However, flavourwise, it wasn't terribly exciting; I had to add soy sauce. Nice guy working alone who served me. All in all, inexpensive, filling food but nothing I'd go out of my way for.

Their hotpot is so tasty, filling and affordable. My favourite is the one with pumpkin and tomato. Another must try on their menu is their pork belly with rice. Dare I say it's the best pork belly with rice in town. Generous portion and a healthy serving of veggies on the side. This has become a go-to dinner place for us!

Jo Ju Tofu Hotpot is a Taiwanese / Korean restaurant. They have individual size hot pot combos, rice combos and noodles. I ordered the Signature BBQ pork on rice. It came with BBQ pork (a little fatty than I usually like), fried egg, tofu and veggies. It also came with a side of miso/green onion soup. Overall it wasn't anything spectacular, but it was OK and for a great price. (Approx. $8)

Jo Ju is a option for bbtea and taiwanese dishes like salty pepper chicken, fried rice or individual hotpot. Recently came here on a Monday and it was nice to be seated right away. I ordered the salty pepper chicken with rice and it came in a large dish with the rice, chicken, broccoli, veggie, fried egg, and miso soup. If you like runny eggs i would recommend telling them when you order because the one i got was cooked through. The chicken was just as good as most of three bbtea joints out there! Really great price too here - the meal was under $9!

A smaller restaurant on the lower part of Hastings. They offer a bit of everything. I quite enjoy their Chicken nuggets and deep fried octopus. The food here is quite fresh. Items are usually available for pickup after 10 minutes . Overall not bad

Noodle hot pot and bbq beef

We were looking for a quick meal along hastings so we decided to try this place. They serve mainly noodles (hot pots) and rice in the stone pots plus some appetizers. We ordered the bbq beef as appetizer and the udon noodles with beef and veggies in tomato soup. The noodle soup was good but nothing too special. Okay size for the price. The bbq beef was too salty so we poured the dish into the noodle soup to balance everything out and ate it altogether. Customer service was alright and there were lots of seats. Good for singular or groups.

Solid Taiwanese inspired Korean food. Great prices. I wish they had a special price to include bubble tea with the food. I really enjoy the individual hot pot. Service is alright. Staff sometimes refill tea and sometimes do not when they are busy.

Ramen slut got in over her head here. I thought hot pot was when you cook it yourself by dipping the items? I ordered the vegetarian pot and it came out with all the stuff already in it. I do t know how I feel about squash and tomatoes in my soup. I though there would just be mushrooms and carrots, onions etc. Anyways I'm not sure what to make of it. It was basically like a bunch of food sitting in water that wasn't meant to be eaten. I'll take pho or ramen over it any day. I wanted to cook it myself dammit.

Been to this restaurant twice recently and both times left full and decently satisfied. It is a smaller place but there was seating available right away both times I went. Service is alright. They don't go beyond filling your water/tea but that is fine and didn't bother me. The amount of food you get for the price is good, however I find that all of their dishes fall on the salty side. Maybe ask for half salt/no MSG? Onto the food, I have tried their fried chicken and rice dish as well as their kimchi and BBQ meat with rice. Both pretty tasty, if they had less salt would be even better. Boyfriend has tried one of their hotpot dishes as well and said it tasted good but was very spicy! Overall I'd go back knowing to ask for less salt and also request for the fried egg to be runny if you like it that way!!

The combo included a refreshing iced jasmine tea (not sweet btw, if that's your thing!), and at $14.99 for the whole meal, the price was quite reasonable. The only downside was that our drinks took a while to arrive, and the wheat germ milk tea my sister ordered was just "not it." Solid 4/5 for both. beef hotpot - comes served on a little fuel burner with a side of scallion oil noodles and 2 veg sides. Also solid 4/5. A ton of food. What's appealing here is that their Instagram advertises daily specials so you can get some dishes for a great discount (like 40% off). We tried the braised combo (pork ear, pork intestines, fish cake), Taiwanese egg wrap, braised pork sauce rice with deep fried pork chop, and yam taro mochi balls. The braised combo is pretty solid - I didn't really like the funkiness to the intestines (I generally enjoyed it in barbecue settings) but the fish cake was fantastic. I also liked the texture of the pork ears. The Taiwanese egg wrap was a bit tasteless, so I wouldn't recommend. Braised pork sauce rice is the lu ruo fan which is a large portion with seaweed, bean sprouts, and soup on the side. Pork chop was flavorful and juicy but not crispy batter, which is okay. Yam taro mochi balls were sweet and chewy. I don't like taro but I loved this dessert! Service is okay. They give a water jug for self pour but the water jug was of questionable cleanliness. The specials were not discounted so we called it out and we weren't told that we had to put the order with a server, not the QR code, so it was a strange interaction. They ended up honoring the discount. Also, they shut down ordering 1 min before 10:30pm - guess they didn't want more money as we wanted to order 1 more dish and they preemptively told the kitchen to close. Sure it's fine no big deal, it was a lot of food.
