We moved in on 9/1/24. Good choice! We are in our 90s with realistic expectations of what the future holds.We want to share in the joy of being alive daily in a. supportive community, kind people to interact with pleasant surroundings good food capable physical help and encouragement. 1/1/2025 and nothing has changed our opinion. I personally still have heath and the life choices still available to me are enhanced by the entertainment special occasions provided and help fill my time as my wife sleeps for extended periods.I suspect that if I would be left by myself-I would just call this home. It didn't happen I let the $5100.00 a week caregiver go and my husband was found on the floor less than a week later had phnemonia and passed away the 7th day after not having fulltime care. The nurse would not respond to phone calls and when she did it was with rude and had a nasty attitude. They did manage to give my husband more sedation meds after the caregiver was gone so they could keep him from wondering. I say look into memory facilities closely but I would pass on Harbour Pointe . They were planning on evaluating him on the day he died now that's convenient. Mom's memory was declining, and she needed memory care. The first time I took a tour of Bonaventure I was highly impressed with the facility. Just walking through the front door gave a lift to my spirits in that I was greeted with a brightly lit, newly renovated looking facility. The dining rooms looked like elegant upper-level restaurant dining. I found out they have a "gourmet" chef on staff and after trying their food I would agree. All the staff - the administration, the nurses, and care aides - even the maintenance people - were all highly professional and personable. The facility was welcoming as well as the people who work there. Dulcie Chase, the admissions director, was very welcoming and pleasant; as was each of the receptionists and Dakota Bingham, the assistant executive director. They all give the impression that this is not just a business, it is a welcoming living space where residents are seen as people with feelings and needs. My mom, entering the end of her life with memory loss and dementia, had a couple weeks of adjustment she went through. After this adjustment period was over, she warmed up to the staff caring for her. I found the staff from the very beginning trying to make mom's stay as pleasant as possible, looking at all her needs, and responding to my requests. They truly cared for my mother up until the time of her passing. They were with her when she passed, which I really appreciated. The staff always welcomed my presence, visits, questions and suggestions. I did not have one negative experience with any of the staff. My wife's mother and father were also at Brookdale in Monroe until they could no longer give my father-in-law the level of care he required. We suggested Bonaventure and set it up for them to move. They were quite impressed with the facility, the food, and the care level offered to them. As of this writing my mother and father-in-law are residing there now. With my father-in-law's new and more intensive level of care, the staff is highly responsive to our calls and the Assisted Living Director, Lara, is easy to work with. I can tell Lara really cares about her job and the people she serves. My father-in-law is now getting the end-of-life level of care that he requires. I could not be happier with the facility and the staff who care for our elderly parents. I highly recommend Bonaventure.

I want to share my honest experience -- the difficult parts, the turning point, and ultimately the reason I left with gratitude. During my first week, I was not thrilled with the care I received. I often felt overlooked. Some staff members -- not all -- seemed rushed, with little interaction or engagement. When I voiced concerns, I felt dismissed rather than heard. I repeatedly asked to speak with the person in charge of the nurses and aides, but she never came. I spoke with the social worker and the administrator, who reassured me they would address my concerns and send the nursing director. Still, she never appeared. My main concern at the time was how my legs were being wrapped. I wanted guidance, reassurance, and proper care. Then the inspectors arrived, and shortly after, I learned the director had been fired. This worried me even more -- if things weren't running well before, what would happen now? A few days later, a gentleman introduced himself as the nurse supervisor. At first, I didn't think much of it. He came in regularly, asking how I was doing and whether I had any issues with my care. I assumed he was just another staff member making rounds. But he kept coming back. He kept asking. And he genuinely listened. I even asked, is there a problem that's why you keep asking these questions? Slowly, I noticed a shift. The staff's attitude improved. They were more attentive, kinder, and more professional. I told him this directly -- that since he started checking in, the entire atmosphere felt different. He told me, the staff here are wonderful. They may just be under pressure but thank you, I will surely let them know. A few days before my discharge, I received a new roommate who struggled with yelling and screaming at night. I understood she couldn't help it, but it made resting and healing extremely difficult. I reported my concerns to management, including to a nurse named Tee, who said she would inform her supervisor. Honestly, I didn't expect anything to happen. My hope was low. I told them not to do anything about it, not even a grievance. I really wanted to just leave then but I physically cant. To my surprise, shortly after reporting the issue, the same gentleman walked in -- and this time he introduced himself as the Director of Nursing. I jokingly gave him an earful for not telling me sooner. His response is something I will never forget. He said: "My actions should speak for themselves. I want my residents to remember me not by name or title, but by how I made them feel." I cried -- tears of relief and gratitude. He apologized for my experience and for the rough night. He offered solutions immediately and even brought me earplugs. When I told him I was worried I wouldn't hear my alarm, he promised that a staff member would wake me up at exactly 7:00 AM -- "like you're in a hotel," he said. And he delivered. All my earlier frustrations were overshadowed by the sincerity, consistency, and compassion shown by the new Director of Nursing. His leadership changed the environment. The therapy team, nurses, and aides became more attentive, more present, and more caring. I left Alderwood feeling heard, supported, and respected. That is why I gave a 5‑star review -- not because everything was perfect from the start, but because the right person stepped in, listened, and transformed my experience. To Umesh social worker, the therapy team, nurses, and aides: thank you. To the Director of Nursing, Joe-mar your actions truly spoke louder than any title ever could. Now that I'm back to working, I've been sharing my experience at Alderwood -- not just the challenges I faced at the beginning, but the incredible turnaround that happened because of the people who truly care.

Subsequently, we found our she had fairly advanced terminal cancer. The level of care and kindness shown by the entire staff (thanks, Kelly, Nedra, Michael) really touched our hearts. It's not the fanciest place I've seen, but the kindness, love and level of care mean that your loved one will be well taken care of. Our mom ended up in hospice, and eventually passed away in January, 2020. Throughout her suffering and our grief, the staff was kind, supportive and always helpful. My name is Marilyn my husband was Michael King. He passed away at Regence 7/11/2024. He was there 2…read morewks. He was admitted there as a hospice patient. About 5 days after he was admitted, I was told by a staff member that the administration and certain staff do not like to have them as patients. This was very concerning to our family. We were paying a huge amount of money to provide him with the care and compassion he should have received. He had IPF and was on 24 hr oxygen. He had two very compassionate and kind nurses aides, a young male Indian or Pakastani and a gal around 50. He had an asian appearing female nurse in maybe her 50's or 60's who was on the afternoon shift. She was uncaring, rude at times belligerent. He had a catheter and was being awakened at 5:00 AM to empty it. I asked if it could be done a little later as he couldn't sleep. She told me "Well I guess we can just not do it at all ". Other times when I was there she administered a nose solution and brutally shoved it up his nose, he at some point didn't want her near him. She did not follow Hospice drug protocol in his medications. Did it how and when she wanted too. My husband several days before he died was bleeding profusely into his catheter bag. I asked for a Dr. to see him and was told it was not possible. At one time when I was there he was having extreme difficulty breathing, we pressed the call button, nobody responded, I went and checked it, it had a huge crimp in it caused by a nurse who had changed it awhile earlier and failed to notice it. I understand that those there for rehab receive excellent care, my husband who was dying did not, except for a few very kind, compassionate staff.
