As seniors it is a huge help to receive a $50 card to buy produce ONLY at certified Farmers' Markets and arrive the day before Thanksgiving and be told they don't accept the card or they aren't signed up to receive it. Card expires Nov 30 so we will lose our $50. Couldn't even buy eggs. Farmers complain people are unsupportive yet how can we support them if they are greedy and cheat the Government programs? I will make sure to never set foot in a farmers' market again. I will full heartedly support overseas farmers from now on. Let's see who buys your overpriced produce. If they don't comply with the program they should NOT be allowed to sell there. Shame on you all. I find this to be un American. So much for making America great again and buying local and home grown! Also there are only 3 stands of produce and the rest are retail trinkets, NOT a real Farmers' Market.

Fun stuff and artisans. The market is expanding and adding new vendors all the time. It maybe smaller then most markets, but close and Kid friendly. We will be going back next Wednesday. What nice way to enjoy the middle of a busy week, with a casual walk and shop, bit to eat, a little music, my kind of "Date Nite" to finish out the week. Affordable friendly, easy access and productive- purchasing fresh edibles for the Week end.

Wow!! Now THIS is a top-notch Farmers Market (and I consider myself to be a Farmers Market…read moreconnoisseur). If you can get over the fact that parking is a nightmare (tip: get there early and use the free parking lot at the DMV) you'll love every second of your time here. We got there around 9:30am and were lucky enough to snag a spot at the aforementioned lot - about a 5 minute walk from the start of the market. From there, we took about 2 hours to fully explore, including a quick stop at a cute and affordably-priced vintage stop right off the vendors' booths. There is a huge variety of goods, mostly consumables with a few jewelry and handmade goods worked in. The vast majority of consumables booths had samples. I tried balsamic vinegars, loads of dips, some fresh fruit and tomatoes, bread, tempeh, you name it. I wasn't even hungry for lunch after going! If you aren't keen on samples, there are lots of prepared food booths for a full meal. Prices are reasonable. I bought a delicious Mediterranean 3 layer dip for $6 and my brother got a massive focaccia loaf for $10. The vendors were very friendly and helpful. Many (most?) also had business cards with shipping info if you're like me and have a full suitcase already. I would consider this market a must-visit if you find yourself in San Diego on a Sunday. Loved it!

Hillcrest Farmers Market (opened in April 1997) is San Diego's original and largest farmers market…read morewith over 175 vendors. [Hours]: Sunday (rain or shine) from 9 AM to 2 PM. [Parking]: Difficult parking situation, but I got really lucky and found a street parking spot near the intersection of Cleveland Ave and Richmond St at 9 AM. Apparently visitors can park for free at the DMV parking lot (3960 Normal St), but the lot fills up quickly so come early. According to the website, visitors can also park at the United States Postal Service parking lot at 3911 Cleveland Ave. [Amenities & vendors]: The farmers market does not accept EBT. The market takes up about three large blocks and visitors can find produce, gifts, arts and crafts, flowers, clothing, etc. Not many fruit stands offer samples, but other non-fruit food vendors do provide free samples. The market also has a solid food court including one vendor selling coconut pancakes (Coconut & Co. Thai Fusion). The coconut pancakes (aka khanom krok - $4 for 8 pieces) reminded me of the sticky rice from mango sticky rice and these pancakes were actually quite good. [Conclusion]: Our party only ended up staying for 30 minutes, but overall this is a great farmers market for anyone who's looking for solid one-stop food options and not necessarily looking for a produce-focused farmers market.

All of the vendors are really friendly & knowledgable. This farmers market is extremely dog friendly so be aware if you have allergies. The only downside to this market is how rude people can be when it comes to their dogs. We've seen owners let their dogs go to the bathroom just steps away from vendor tents and it's disgusting. Overall a really nice farmers market with lots of yummy food & local produce.

We've always wanted to get fresh, warm and delicious bread and pastries from the Chaupain Bakery stand, but their line has always been insanely long. Luckily enough during our visit this past weekend, the line wasn't as terrible when we passed by them--you grab that opportunity without dilly dallying because a minute later, that can change real quick. We got a slice of their caramelized onion quiche, a strawberry bar, a chocolate chip muffin, and a bag of their brioche buns. Sooooo yummy! We also got Amapola's banana pudding and it was divine! The perfect dessert for a sweet tooth. It's served chilled, so creamy and not too sweet. I love that you still get some banana chunks in there too. Will definitely get this again the next time we visit! I was also in dire need of more coffee that morning, so I decided to get some from Wipeout Coffee. I got a large Iced Hazelnut Latte with oat milk. I was so happy to get to try new coffee from a local roaster! It was pretty good--I really enjoyed my drink--just an insane amount of ice even after asking for light ice. Their coffee was just so crisp and refreshing. They also have all kinds of fresh and vibrant greenery, flowers, and produce that are all just so hard to resist! Unless something drastic changes, we'll always come to visit this farmer's market.

From delicious food, to fresh produce, to the most gorgeous and vibrant flowers, to beautiful pottery, to unique clothes... you name it, they have it there! Make sure to come early as parking can be a bit tricky, especially if you want to park closer to the farmers' market. Once you get parked though, everything is a breeze. They even have tables and chairs around for people to eat at. There's also a playground for families who have little ones! I could never go to a farmers' market and leave without fresh flowers, so of course I had to pick up some from Hidalgo Flowers. They always have the most colorful and stunning arrangements, and for a decent price too. This time, I got a bunch with the prettiest sunflowers. We also picked up the sweetest and reddest strawberries from this one vendor. I highly regret not getting their name, but I will definitely be on the hunt for them the minute we go back. We got a cup of strawberries with some dark chocolate sauce from Strawberries and Chocolate. That was sooo good! We devoured it so quickly, we didn't even get to take a picture of it. One of the standouts for me was the Pork Sisig Rice from Baryo Eats. It was AHHHHMAZING!! It's the best kind of pork sisig that I love to eat--the taste was so good and nostalgic, it took me back to my college days back in the Philippines! HIGHLY RECOMMEND. We also got some Paella from Driana Catering/Taste of Spain. It was so flavorful and the rice was cooked to perfection. We were just sad they ran out of shrimp by the time we got some, so we were left with chicken only. We got some goodies from It's Cafe Thai as well--Milk Tea with Boba, Taro Thai Coffee, and the Mango Sticky Rice. All of them had just the right amount of sweetness and hit the spot for us. Lastly, we had some of the watermelon and the cucumber lemonade refreshers, and the chicken and pork tamales from Gourmet Tamales. They were so good, we even took some home for later! Overall, I'm already looking forward to the next Sunday we can stop by this farmers' market!

Stars off for parking and crowds, but we lucked out on great parking and were on the way out when things were getting peak crazy. Now - all my treasures. There was a bread guy. Great breads. Focaccia. Banana bread. Sourdough. Looked beautiful, but unassuming. The deliciousness level - wow! Broccolini, squash, carrots, celery, onion. Then, the berries! Look and try. You'll know the ones you want. Oceanside? Carlsbad? I am on strike as of now and will be hard pressed to make due with a Driscolls berry. Oh - and this magical little orange. I should have bought 5 pounds. I drank fresh OJ while we were there. 11/10. I'm so happy that after an awesome vacation of vacation dates and treats we get to keep it going with some lighter meals. I made tuna salad with celery and onions. Well have grilled veg with dinner. Magical berries all day. The special grilled cheese with gruyere, honey, mustard and all the other little meals il weave my Ja Jolla open air marked finds - incredible. Then, all the things I didn't buy because they wouldn't have survived in the car. Salad. Flowers. Tomatoes. All beautiful.
