Do not use this company. My wife brought my mother's fur coat here to have it made into pieces for me, my sister, and all the grandchildren as a surprise after my mother passed. We had a detailed appointment and agreed on everything, including pricing. When we picked up the pieces, there were major mistakes. The company ignored our instructions, claiming there wasn't enough material, and never called to discuss the changes. Even more upsetting, the embroidery with my mom's name, a sentimental detail, was lost. When we addressed the issues with Allison, she was defensive. There was no acknowledgment of mistakes, no input asked from us, and no apology. This project was sentimental, not about money, and the lack of accountability was disappointing. While this is a niche industry, I would never use this company. Their attitude toward their errors and lack of responsibility made a bad situation even worse. We have moved on to preserve the memory of my mom, but this is our honest experience. I'm sure Allison will respond with excuses and defensiveness the way she has done with us. We did not ask for more money back or a discount, just a little accountability and respect. Perhaps invest in surveillance cameras? Honestly why have a store in the first place if you're not willing to welcome all potential customers? Me and an acquaintance stopped to check out some fashion pieces, perhaps even a gift for someone and upon entering, the store owner, Joel, asked us what we did and what we were doing in the store. Understandable, however, to have followed us around the store without even as much as giving us some space was an uncomfortable experience. No one likes being surveilled, furthermore, no one likes being unwelcome and even profiled to a place that had their doors open. If I could give it zeros stars I would, I was in this shop with a friend and we're both people of color and we felt completely uncomfortable and discouraged by Joel who had a very rude tone when talking to us, he was following us around the store almost like he thought we were gonna steal something, utterly unprofessional! Looked us up and down and said that their products no matter our price range were going to be on "upper scale of that price range", but once a white family came in, his attitude completely changed to a more friendly tone to them, then when he would talk back to us, he switched back to a rude and snooty tone. I recently discovered Morris Kaye and sons. Talk about the best in the business. I made an appointment and was greeted by Allison who was the most courteous and outgoing sales person. I called for an appointment to get a fur coat for my wife and got one that was convenient so we went in and got the royal treatment and left a happy couple. One thing is for sure and that Joel Kaye knows his business and has been at it for over 40 years at this point. If I could give zero stars, I would. EDIT to respond to Allison: Nowhere is it posted that this store is appointment only, and the store was completely empty. Additionally, the owner did not say I needed an appointment and could return at a later point. He said, verbatim, that I was "not welcome" and "not a customer" solely based on my appearance (clean linen pants and a t-shirt). Clearly there was no interest in having me return as a customer. Technically you have a right to do whatever you want, it's your business. But you made a split second judgement that I didn't look like a customer you wished to have and told me to leave. Additionally, I checked your appointments online and you had many available spots today. I'm not surprised by your dishonesty. I am in Dallas for the day from Austin and had some time to kill in the area so I popped in to browse. The gentleman working the shop (presumably the owner/manager) was immediately hostile with me upon entering and explaining I was perusing. He told me I was "not welcome as I was not a customer". I asked if he was implying that I looked like I couldn't afford to shop there which he denied but still asked me to leave. I felt like I was in Pretty Woman. Quite frankly this customer service was appalling and offensive. Classist businesses like this deserve to go out of business. Save your money and time and go elsewhere. read more

CHRISTMAS WAS RUINED! I purchased 2 women's beaver coats and took them Morris Kay and Sons a week before Thanksgiving to have them altered into 3 mink scarfs and 3 mink muffs. I advised the owner and 2 young ladies that were assisting me that the items were Christmas gifts for my mom, aunt and sister. I repeated this several times to all three of them. Well I made an appt for 12/17/22 to surprise my family members with presenting the items to them. To my surprise I called on 12/16/22 to confirm the appt and was told that they would be closed for the owner was going out of town. I was very upset for no one called me directly to provide me with any updates. I was told that items would be ready by the following week and someone would call me back. This is where it get worse. On 12/22/22 I received phone call from Morris Kay and Sons at 2pm and was told that my items were ready for pickup. I advised that I would come early the next day for I was at work, and was told they were closed on 12/23/22. This was very unprofessional. I arrived to Morris Kay and Sons and of course the owner (male) was not there, and he only made 2 mink scarfs and 21 muffs. I was over it for I advised them several times that I needed 3 of each item for I had 3 women to provide these items for. They did not show any sorries or provide any care for the matter. I was over charged and had to purchase items from another vendor which cost more money. Do not spend your money with this company for they are not right. Bought my wife a vest for Christmas that did not fit her right. took it back to try another size in same vest, but still not right. Joel Kaye and his assistant Lourdes could not have been more helpful. Joel did not try to "upsell" us, quite the contrary, in the end he gave my wife a more expensive mink vest that sells for $500 more at no additional charge. I took my Gucci jacket to Morris Kaye based upon their advertisement that they could clean leather. My jacket had a few rain spots on it. He claimed that he could clean it. He called that it was ready for pick-up. He neglected to say that it was ruined. Every single seam appeared burned or stained. It was a taupe color so the dark stains were quite obvious. He refused to reimburse me for my loss so I sued and collected. He may have nice furs to sell, but I would hesitate to have him clean leather. read more

I have brought my fur to Morris Kaye for cleaning and storage for years and have been thoroughly satisfied with their work. This year I also brought my Tibetan lamb boa to them because it looked greyish and ratty and it came back to me looking as white and fluffy as new! They do great work. read more
