10 family members visited yesterday. It seemed they missed every scheduled event; we wanted to see pigs run and dog's race; the map is unclear (two #32's, and 2 strawberry patches; not to scale and barely decipherable)... and the booth person we asked didn't know what/when/where anything was. They have stages/booths for live entertainment, but we saw none... a fire dancer was practicing, sans fire, for 15 minutes; Friday about 630pm; was the most entertaining thing... and the food was still good, though pricey,! other notes; many bees, we had an infant; farm is probably best for those with kids 2-9, hamburger took 45 minutes, after the order...few people wore masks; but plenty of social distancing; the place is huge. some family members did the corn maze and many gaps opened from easy course to hard course. I know kids sometimes mess it up... but maybe some markings on the ground to decipher which is which; like blue dirt versus yellow dirt... or something.... bought stuff from the store; fudge was good. it was nice to be outside with people, and not boil/melt to death. read more

Always a blast here. Super family friendly. The store is amazing. Our family gets the annual pass. They have all sorts of fun outside activities for the kids. Some farm animals to feed and pet. Pumpkin Festival at Mortimer Pros: Wonderful autumn atmosphere for fall-lovers. Tractor-hay rides for the whole family, big beautiful trees dispersed on property, activities geared exclusively for kids ages 5-12, farm-feel outdoor enjoyment, farm-inspired rides are cute, kids age 2 and under are free (appropriately bc almost all of the rides are not safe/appropriate for this age range), free parking, all-day enjoyment and can re-enter same day with wrist bans (if the kids are tired and need a break from the sun and heat). The hay ride now picks up and drops off at both ends of the park, which has been extended (now the pumpkin jumper and barrel train is on the far end and *quite* a walk in the beating sun - good thing hay ride picks up every 15 mins. Cons: Boring for older kids (families of kids age 12+ seriously don't bother), admission overpriced ($100 family of four - no kid/adult rate difference), ridiculously long lines, vendors run out of food, kids' ride broken but still UNSAFELY functioning during peak business hours (10/2020), food meh but priced like it should be awesome, dusty, often HOT in September/October, finding parking is a nightmare, pumpkins are WAY overpriced per pound - save your money and buy at grocery. They simply distribute pumpkins they buy elsewhere into their fields and call it "picking" - they are not fresh on the vine. Our pumpkins purchased here rotted within days. Overall: If you have young kids, don't mind a large crowd and lots of waiting, and love fall - give it a try. read more

Have been coming to this farm for over 20 years and it is a blast being outdoors in beautiful weather with my family but get there early! The management of this big event is dismal at best. There are bottlenecks at entry/check-out and the food service is slow and the quality poor. read more

We decided to take trip here this past fall thinking that it would be a safe place to do a family outing. Everything is outdoors. While we did enjoy it, I do feel as though they could have done more to ensure safety due to the pandemic. My family and I chose to wear masks, however, this was not required and most people around us were not. There also did not seem to be markers around the farm requiring 6' of distance between people. We try to stay as safe as possible and we were conscious of this and did our part to keep a distance and wear our masks, but the farm did very little to promote safety other than the built in fact that it is outdoors. For example, there were no markers on the ground when waiting in line for food. Also, we chose not to go on the hayride because we noticed the people getting off were not spaced out. This is the old Johnson Farm that we used to go up and enjoy the pumpkin patch. This time we found them since they were selling Christmas trees and had Santa, smores, hot chocolate, coffee, hay ride, food. I saved $30 on a 9ft tree, Lowes and Home Depot wanted $88 for this size tree and I got it here for $59, plus it snowed while we were there so it made the experience even better. I know I am overselling this place but I missed it when they sold it (was supposed to be a development but we can thank the great recession for something). I will definitely check out the pumpkin patch again next October and re-review it. Terrific! What an annual treat to get out onto a farm for a day filled with fun memory making! The photo opportunities are endless and amazing!! The website really helps you plan for what to expect too. While a number of festival goers had their dogs and were seemingly enjoying themselves, I was so happy to have only brought the two legged kids. Finding bathrooms and shade and packing our water was enough to do without needing to keep our yellow lab from overheating. We definitely benefitted from bringing: - cash - camera on phones - light backpack - our own water bottles - walking shoes - dressed for warm weather We are so glad we did NOT bring: - dog - nice camera (the dust here is no joke) Would have enjoyed our day more if we had: - sunscreen - shade umbrellas - handi-wipes for sticky messes - cart to carry/hold pumpkins The day would have been perfect if only Mortimer Farms: - had parking lot attendants directing traffic - had more face painting so lines were less than 30+ minutes - had more areas to sit in the shade (we could have stayed longer and spent more money if we were not so overheated) - had more than one person weighing the pumpkins as we left. Super fun, but unfortunately their website is misleading. They say masks aren't required because there is enough room to social distance but I don't think that's true. It felt very crowded, everyone was on top of each other even though we tried to social distance. It was almost impossible, it felt like we were at Disneyland! I wish I read the reviews before coming. Such a bummer because it could be a great experience and it could be much safer if they just enforced social distancing more. My family attended the 2015 Pumpkin Festival this past October. The farm is located just about an hour out of Phoenix, and provided a nice break from the valley's heat. When we arrived, we paid the $15 admission fee which included access to the petting zoo, a 25-acre corn maze, hayrides, and a 15-acre pumpkin patch (one pumpkin up to 8-pounds per person was included with our admission fee). The farm itself is very charming, and includes a country store, and even a vegetable garden. We spent a little over an hour at the farm and had a blast! I would recommend the festival at Mortimer Family Farms for anyone looking for a good pumpkin patch in Arizona! read more

Wow what a great find! Possibly the best corn maze in the state at this Central Arizona pumpkin patch. Sitting at 4000+ ft this area is cooler than Phoenix metro and is a nice day trip to escape the early fall heat. Although there are a lot of activities to do I was so impressed by the corn maze that I feel it needs its own review. There are different mazes within this field that do not connect so you can't get lost....well not forever anyway;) The entrances are on the left as seen in the photo. The top one is 'easy' and only goes to the 2 words "your". The center paths 2 are the hardest ones. It's a loop that goes through both candidates as well as the heart and peace signs. AMAZING job they did, the map was accurate enough that I did not get lost...but I wished I had a pen on me. I had to constantly point to my location with my finger. The last entrance is the medium one that goes to 'Mortimer Farms'. Kids had a blast, people were very friendly and I could see myself coming back each year. They could have used a few more food choices, but not so much that it deserves a cut in rating. read more

Made the easy drive from Gilbert. We purchased our admission tickets and containers for pick your own berries from the store. The cashier was friendly and was wearing a mask. We spent the first hour with the farm to ourselves. We picked berries, did the zip line, played in the hamster wheels and enjoyed the hot summer morning. Made our way back to the store to grab a cool drink and a yummy treat from the bakery. One inside again it was awful. The store was crowed. No masks. No social distancing. The women working in the bakery were not wearing mask. They did how we have a Trump cloth mask proudly tacked up on the back wall. We grabbed our drinks and headed to the long checkout line. I asked the cashier who was wearing a mask why the women in the bakery were not wearing masks and I was not given an answer. Highly disappointed with this experience. If you have any expectation that COVID precautions are being observed or upheld, this is not the place for you. We arrived by 10am last Sunday for the Pumpkin Fest, and there were already HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of people in attendance. Shoulder to shoulder seating at the dog show. Picnic tables clustered rather than spaced out. Tightly packed lines for all activities and booths. I'd estimate that a quarter of folks were wearing masks. I observed no sanitation measures in place in regards to equipment usage. There were few staff members around the property to assist with crowd management and zero attention paid to capacity concerns. We left early. As a side note, the health of the chickens is alarming. Why are all of their feathers falling out? During our brief stay, I wandered around searching for a saving grace. Mortimer's farm has some pretty horrible customer service. I had reached out to Mortimer's on October 14th via email notifying them that I had pre-purchased tickets for the pumpkin festival just as their website requests that customers do, but that we were unable to attend due to concerning observations of their facilities. I informed them that my family was supposed to attend October 10th, but when we arrived there was a mass crowd forming in the entry. Not only that, you could see the stands and walkways were shoulder to shoulder; the place was a mad house- barely any masks being worn and definitely no encouragement or reinforcement of social distancing as advertised. Please understand that although my visit was hindered due to family Covid concerns, the issue I am addressing in this review is regarding the handling of me (the customer) in an effort to get the issue rectified and to highlight an example of poor customer service. I received a response on October 15th from the Chief Marketing Officer Ashlee stating 'Thank you for the email! I would be more than happy to rebook your tickets to a day that is less busy. What WEEKDAY works well for you?' This email made me feel like a resolution may actually be rendered.... I was very wrong. I responded on October 20th to Mortimer's Farm as follows, 'Good evening, I hope this email finds you well. Well, unfortunately I work Monday through Friday until 6pm and live down in the phoenix valley. Weekends are the only time to come for my family and I. This is very frustrating as I wish I hadn't purchased tickets ahead of time as your website requested because then I wouldn't be potentially eatting this money when in reality I actually did what you guys asked of me.' Needless to say, it is now October 29th *9 DAYS LATER* and not a peep has came from Mortimer's Farm. They never responded to see if I was even interested in rescheduling for a different WEEKEND or anything at all which is saddening because my husband and I were hoping to figure out what the options were to reattend as we knew we would lose ur money otherwise. The pumpkin festival will end this coming weekend November 1st and to date, I have yet to receive further response from Mortimer's Farm... It seems like any concerns I had or chance to rectify the issue is of no concern to them. They took my options to reschedule my visit, they happily my money and kicked me aside rather than offering a resolution until one was found. I work in customer service myself and I must say that this is purely poor customer service and resolution on their end. Quite disappointed with our visit to Mortimer Family Farms today... PROS: -Large number of things for kids to play on (as long as they know how to wait their turn). -Lots of space for kids to run (as long as the place isn't over-crowded). CONS: -Tooooo many bees!!! Especially around the main eatery counter! -Only one eatery option (burger place) was open/available, with only one person working up-front (he wasn't wearing a mask or gloves... even the cook wasn't wearing a mask or gloves!... whatever about the masks, but gloves should always be worn right now when working with food). *Lots of food option "booths", but none were open. *The burger place had a line that had a 25min wait - just to order - then a 25min wait for food to come out. Not worth it... we got a drink and left the farm to get food. *At least have drink-options open, easily-made money-maker for the farm. *Hot day... should have had the Dole Whip booth/trailer open. Would have made good money today. -Hillbilly Swing... looked fun, but is completely dangerous. Hello, Risk Management? -Strawberry Picking... there were no strawberries (all had already been picked) and the plants looked sunburnt/dried-up. -No signage directing people to the entrance/where to buy tickets to enter the farm. -No one was sanitizing/cleaning anything that was repeatedly touched by people. -Needs more tents set-up for shading. -No hay rides (even though a sign out front said there were)... and if they were available, there were no signs inside directing to them. What a let down! We drove up for the Corn Festival. It was $15.00 a person. We thought there would be corn everywhere with tons of fresh corn to eat. The $15.00 included a meal. The meal consisted of incredibly stale corn tortillas and bland hamburger meat. The condiments were in a kiddie pool and everyone was using their hands to scoop it out. The only corn available was three dollars extra. Worst of all the staff was rude and impolite. Now we know! read more

We got there and there was no clear signage as to where to go if you needed to purchase tickets or had done it online. We should have just Got them There as that line moved way faster. Once in we had prepaid for the meal Deal. Waited an hour and 15 minutes for food. Again shouldn't have prepaid (the fryer was down so most of their sides were out) they should have a Seperate line for people who prepaid for Food. The man who was giving hay rides was amazing he was funny and knew a lot about the farm. There aren't a ton of things for littles to do- my 3 year old wanted to go on a lot Of stuff but she was too small. The corn maze was fun she did love that. Overall it was fun but we won't be back until The kids are older. Oh and we had bought the kids experience but by the time we got To The mining they were sold out. The patch was nice but very pricey considering they way we were treated!!! We were told by several staff o we could walk across the strawberry patch to go to the pumpkin patch. We did that and a lady named Candance put her hands on my husband and said we can't go that way because of a wedding. Totally rude! Holy cow what an amazing place! Tons of homemade food- 4 cinnamon donuts for $1!! Jams, jellies, salsa, flowers pumpkins you name it they have it! Strawberry fog jam- yum! Huge gords and pumpkins eight amazing colors and shapes for great prices. Dried color with bright colors- $1.50! You can't beat it For October they are completely set up for the kids but if you just want to shop in their store you don't have to pay the fee- so awesome! The Owners and employees here are absolutely the most wonderful people in the world. Its sure nice to deal with small family owned businesses that care about their customers, full of information about the area locally owned business and were willing to share their knowledge about the going ons in the surrounding markets. The pricing on products are what you would expect to pay for quality foods and I have no problem paying for that quality. Some of the products were actually cheaper than the big box stores and were alot more flavorful. I can not say enough good things about the people or the products they sell. I gotta say the online presence Mortimer farms has is phenomenal they really pull you in through marketing and advertising/engagement. That's what brought me in. My family of 2 adults and one child paid 70$ for admission. I was shocked at the price because I saw nothing online about the cost of admission. But we paid without hesitating , I like to support local and be apart of fall festivities. Not even the front booth has anything posted about prices or hours or anything. My first stop since traveling over an hour to get here was to the port o potty, which never in my life have I had high expectations of but this was absolutely the worst port o potty I have ever witnessed in my whole life it was almost filled to the brim with feces and toilet paper literally throughout the whole farm I tried the ones In the front of the entrance to the furthest away and they were all like that. I considered calling the company that distributes them to see if they would come service them I could not believe the smell or what I was seeing. The ladies working face paint we're running behind so we waited about 20 minutes for them to set up. They seemed to not be very kid friendly, irritated and having personal conversations among themselves (not engaged with my child at all)even leaving a 50% tip at the beginning of service. The cost of everything within the farm is pretty pricey but all and all my child had a great time playing on the playground so if she leaves happy I am content. I think there should be hours and cost posted in person and online it is impossible to find any of that stuff it took me two days to find it on the website after we had left. Can you give negative stars? It was $7 per person not $5 for the joy of picking your own strawberries. Now I don't mind paying admission to something they're calling a FESTIVAL, but this was no festival! No vendors, no music, no BBQ, no hayrides (mid-day on a weekend)! The incredibly rude staff refused to refund our admission after our miserable 15 minutes there and paying for the few (not moldy) strawberries we found. Don't waste your time!
