Located on a beautiful golf course, Harvest offers beautiful views, as well as an extensive menu of elevated Californian cuisine and innovative cocktails. We stopped by spontaneously for a weekend brunch after seeing this spot on social media, and were pleasantly surprised that it 100% lived up to the hype! One of our favorites was the ceviche, which came with a tasty mix of cooked white fish, tomato, peppers, onion and cilantro paired with fresh tortilla chips, and is a refreshing option for a hot summer Californian day. I also surprisingly enjoyed the bone marrow, which was so deeply flavorful without being overwhelmingly rich, and paired beautifully with their freshly roasted bread. I can't believe I never knew about the restaurant. It is right across from Aliso Creek beach up in an area called The Ranch. There's a beautiful golf course situated in the basin of a hilly area -- the views are gorgeous. Across from the pro shop, you'll find Harvest, a beautiful restaurant with indoor, outdoor and bar seating. First, you MUST try their giant cinnamon roll. We got ours with the candied bacon on the side and I'm craving it just thinking about it! Everything we ate was delicious. They even have fantastic coffee drinks too! This is a really beautiful spot. The restaurant itself feels like a nice slightly upscale type of lodge. The menu is really thoughtful and well put together. Everything tastes fresh and homemade. They mention a lot of locally grown produce items on the menu. The Caesar salad was perfect. The wagyu cheesesteak was more bready than I would have liked, but still good. The homemade chips were fabulous. I would get this just to bring home. The apple and pecan pie were really really good. The burger was absolutely massive. Other than the salads, everyone we were with stated that their food was a bit unseasoned. I suggest putting salt and pepper on the tables, if the goal of the chef is to season foods so lightly. Why not 5 stars?? The service was just okay. Our server was really sweet. She tried hard. Little things were missing, like clearing plates. Offering cream with coffee. Refilling or asking for additional beverages. We had to flag her down a few times with empty glasses that had been there for awhile. The busboys were very helpful once we flagged them. I was so happy with my experience here! Harvest is located on a ranch. There is a hotel where you can stay and a golf course as well. Parking for the golf course and the restaurant is valet only but it is free. I didn't make a reservation to go in but they had lots of tables on a weekday. They have both plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. The indoor vibes are very warm and cozy and the outdoor vibes are nice with the views of the ranch. In the indoor seating, they also have couches and booths. Additionally, they have seating where they have large windows and it also overlooks the ranch! The service here was great. Upon seating they got us started with waters and offered to move heaters next to us since it was a cloudy day. We also got blankets to stay warm. Their food was also really good! We wanted to try the breakfast menu but got there at around 12 (which is when they start serving their lunch menu), but even so, the lunch menu had so many options we wanted to try. The appetizers and starters all sound good, and the servers are really warm and nice introducing the menu. We ordered the french onion soup, wild mushroom pasta, and the baked lobster mac and cheese. They were all delicious! The french onion soup is flavored perfectly and I loved the cheese on top. The wild mushroom pasta was also delicious. The pasta was cooked nicely and the mushroom flavor was strong. The mushroom itself is really soft and not hard at all. The lobster mac and cheese had the perfect ratio of lobster to cheese. I really enjoyed my experience at the restaurant. After finishing food at Harvest, you can walk a little next to the golf course, or take pictures in front of the mountains of the ranch. TLDR; beautiful restaurant, very attentive staff, and mixed flavor food. The drinks were delicious and perfectly made. The appetizers were good and flavorful especially the bread, cheese board, shrimp cocktail, and croquettes. The onion soup was flavorful and good as well. The salmon wasn't bad but something within the flavor of the sauce it was drenched in made it off putting. The reduction in the braised short rib ruined the meal and the potato pie was more of a leftover hash brown. The scallops were alright but could have been cooked a touch longer which left them a little slimey. The milk and cookies saved the dessert because they were delicious! We had the most amazing waiter , Sal he gave much personal attention. It was fantastic. A handwritten birthday card was given. The dessert was amazing handwritten chocolate on the plate. While staying a few days at The Ranch at LB recently, we had both breakfast and dinner at Harvest. First of all, I was impressed with all the restaurant staff we encountered - they are friendly, professional, and go out of their way to make everything special. Special shout out to our server, Daniel at breakfast. We both had the caramelized onion/squash quiche and we just had to experience a $23 cinnamon roll! It was nearly the size of a dinner plate with cream cheese topping, candied bacon and a ton of syrup. The cream cheese on top was a great addition, but I could have done without the candied bacon or maybe just regular crispy bacon bits - I thought it was way too sweet. But that's me...my hubby thought it was perfect as is lol! For dinner, we had great cocktails at the bar and the hostess was so accommodating when we arrived without a reservation. While we were happy to grab seats at the bar and order a meal there, she was able to find us a table by the time we finished drinks and were about to order. My salmon dish was perfectly prepared and so yummy, and my husband enjoyed the pork chop that our server recommended. The ambiance of the restaurant is awesome and the views are incredible. We had a team dinner at Harvest and the entire experience was absolutely top-notch. Despite being a large group, our server, Crews, went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of - truly one of the best service experiences I've had in a while. He was attentive, warm, and made the night feel really special. He definitely had us laughing the entire night so we really enjoyed his company. I ordered the braised short rib and it did not disappoint - so flavorful and perfectly cooked. For dessert, we went all out and tried several options, and honestly, it's hard to choose a favorite. Although we've attended events at The Ranch, it was my first time to dine at the Harvest restaurant. I had the grilled chicken club sandwich with fries. It seemed quite impressive when it was presented, but realized that it was extremely difficult to eat (two) 3 inch sandwiches loaded with bacon/avocado/chicken/tomatoes etc. I tried cutting into half and all the fillings spilled out. I essentially ended up eating the fillings with my fork and ate the bread separately. How about quartering it to make it more manageable? The dining room was spacious and very beautiful. Our party of four enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner celebration last night. The entire staff from manager Chris, to server Wissam ably assisted by Randy, made sure our evening was special. The focaccia bread, baby wedge salad, Angus hamburger, brussels sprouts, grilled salmon salad, seafood chowder, and short rib with crispy potatoes were all beautifully plated & delicious. Service was amazing all around, we got drinks while we waited for our table (we had reservations which I highly recommend) & the bartender was so nice as well as our server. We got the duck wings & peaches to start. I loved the duck wings, they were so flavorful. Both dishes were plenty to share. For the entrees, I got the special which was sea bass with mushrooms (sea bass had a nice flavor, some of the mushrooms were a bit chewy though). Absolutely stunning setting... Inside and out! Great service... And a good menu. But I am absolutely stunned at the lack of gluten-free options. Also, their kale and farro salad is listed as gluten free!! Farro is NOT gluten free at all! It's from the wheat family. When we mentioned that to our server she didn't seem 100% certain when telling us it could be left out/ but how is this salad listed as GF? For those (like me) with an actually intolerance to Gluten- dine here cautiously. I will definitely go back (and it's one of my husbands favorite spots), but I will ask more questions about the menu. The ceviche was really good 5/5, but my tacos were pretty flavorless. It was odd actually... Some bites were OK- not outstanding... but some bites had absolutely no flavor at all. This is a totally hidden restaurant that transports you into an instant vacation. It's at "The Ranch" resort in Laguna and a place I would have never known about if it wasn't for yelp. I recommend using GPS because the turn off on PCH is easy to miss. Look for The Ranch signage. I still missed it and had to make a u-turn. Next when following the road and you see another sign for the Ranch the arrow is pointing forward. Keep going straight it'll take you to the resort. For some reason I took the forward arrow as a right turn and turned right. If you do the same you'll eventually come to a wooden foot bridge and a dead end. Make a left at the foot bridge and this will also take you to the resort. Parking is valet only but free! Walk into the hotel and the restaurant is in the back. Just look for the breath taking views. On yelp you'll see plenty of pictures of a huge patio but this is actually another spot on the resort and not Harvest. The restaurant still has a patio but it was pretty small and they had no seats available. We did get a great table at the window though that not only provided the same panoramic views but also air conditioning! Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and has a weekend brunch menu. We came on a weekday so we went for lunch. To start I had the French Onion soup which was coated in gruyere and parmesan. Delicious soup and one of the better versions I've had. While eating my soup my wife saw another table get the fried squash blossoms so she ordered one too. They were stuffed with lemon herb ricotta, pistachio dukkah, and green goddess dressing. We both thought they were good but probably wouldn't order again. For the price needed a bit more, maybe another piece. For entree I had the steak salad. It came with a perfectly cooked 8 ounce hanger steak which was surprisingly melt in your mouth tender. It had a nice season rub on it came with chimichurri sauce to dip. Steak was served whole so you can eat it like a steak or slice it up for your salad. The salad itself was arugala, frisee, fresno chilis, avocado, thick chunks of smoked bacon, parmesan, sourdough croutons, and mustard vinaigrette. It's hard to tell from my picture but this was a huge salad. Everything about it was great and if you're in the mood for a steak this is a great choice. My wife went with the BBQ Tri Tip Sandwich. Piles of tri-tip covered in peach BBQ sauce, crispy onions, and aged cheddar, and housemade potato chips. She avoids carbs so it was a vacation splurge and she said it was worth the splurge. I took a bite and really liked the flavor of the bbq sauce. The housemade potato chips were awesome, great seasoning. We both had cocktails too. I had a pineapple serrano mezcal drink which was awesome and I can't recall what my wife ordered. At this point we should have called it a day but I saw on yelp a cinnamon roll. A very expensive cinnamon roll. Out of curiosity I asked about it and our waitress aid they usually keep a few on hand after breakfast for people like me in the know. Sure, YOLO, let's get one. Oh my god, no wonder this thing costs so much. It was the size of a head. HUGE cinnamon roll covered in candied bacon, cream cheese frosting, and maple syrup. It was INSANE both in size and flavor. We got about halfway through it before giving up. Luckily it heated up great later. Washed it down with a coffee served in a really cool clay mug. Our waitress Daisy was AWESOME. She truly made our experience perfect. Excellent restaurant, highly recommend. You're in Laguna yet transported to what felt like the central coast. Great all around First off the food was excellent, had the swordfish with lemon caper sauce and it was outstanding. Great lemon flavor notes. The short ribs we were something I don't see very often .... Juicy and flavorful! Normally I'm disappointed by the short ribs because they are dry ( but flavorful) . It's rare to get both but they did it ! Service was excellent with Crews - he really took care of us . The wedge salad was expensive $23 so we split it and they did a nice job splitting it and it was more than enough and delicious, nice smokey bacon flavor. One disappointment was the Mac and cheese side - kind of flavorless and the cheese sauce was thin. Didn't get any green chile flavor what so ever . My visit to the Harvest was absolutely amazing. It is a gorgeous venue with amazing views tucked right into a little area of Laguna Beach along the Aliso Creek. The staff and hostesses were great and very attentive with all of our needs and questions. Being a farm to table restaurant makes the dining experience absolutely unique. The menu was based on seasonal ingredients and really highlighted the amazing food presented. I ordered their daily special, a Uni Risotto, and added their daily catch of Salmon. My jaw was on the floor with this meal. The soft, butter-like uni, the crispy and perfectly seasoned salmon, crisp of the rice, and a fresh pairing with chayote and wakame made this meal perfect. I paired it with a glass of their Riesling. The drinks here are amazing but this was our first time for lunch. I've never had a squash blossom but LOVED these. Fresh ricotta and green goddess dressing was creamy and herbal and fresh!
