    Grilled cheese and Beach Burger
    Kim N.

This place has a great ambiance right on the water! Parking is difficult but they do offer valet. I really enjoyed their grilled cheese and tomato soup and the burger was also pretty good. Menu is small with lots of classics but drinks are strong. It's a great place to hang out with friends and socialize.

It's a great place for a quick bite with a few drinks and enjoying the beautiful sunset view. The wait about an hour or so during the holiday weekend which not to bad. The server was attentive and friendly.

The first thing you'll notice when you walk in is the stunning scenery. The water is beautifully blue, and the restaurant offers a perfect view of the sunset. There are plenty of seating areas throughout the restaurant, so it's easy to find a spot with a clear view of the waterfront. The service was quick and efficient, and our food arrived fresh and hot. I ordered the chicken sandwich, and it was surprisingly juicy and flavorful, not dry at all, which I really appreciated. Overall, this is a great spot for a birthday lunch, dinner, date night, or any occasion when you want to enjoy a meal with a beautiful view. I would definitely come back!

Took my mother-in-law here for her birthday and we all had such a great experience! We got there around 4-4:15pm and had about a 20 minute wait, but we were able to find a high top table that we got to sit at and were able to order drinks from the bar, so that helped to pass our time. We got seated at our table at our table around 4:30p and had the most perfect view of the ocean! *we went on a Friday night and noticed the patio cleared out about 4:45-5pm and I didn't appear to have a lot of people waiting during that time. The main patio was covered with umbrellas, so once you are seated for dinner, there was plenty of umbrellas for shade and heaters for when it got a little cooler. For our food orders, and as recommended by our server, we went with their seafood options and ordered their Pacific Ceviche for an appetizer and for Entrees my husband got the Roasted Halibut and me and my mother-in-law both got the Scallop and Shrimp pasta. We all loved our dishes and were very satisfied with our choices. Their menu does have non-seafood options, but why not to try what they're most prominent for? They don't have a dessert menu, but they heard that we were celebrating mom's birthday so they brought us a little Toffee Cake to share and enjoy...and for a place that doesn't have dessert, the cake was pretty delicious. Such a cute place all around. My husband and I can't wait to go back! Parking - they have valet parking available right in front of the restaurant or theres street metered parking in the surrounding area.

Loved the service and the food, then add on top a view of the ocean! I had the Mahi Mahi sandwich which was beautiful. It had a healthy amount of arugula, onions, and some sauce or butter which gave it good flavor. It was served with chips. My husband had the 1/2 chicken, which he loved, and my son had pasta with shrimp, which he loved. Our server, Ryan, made the experience a joyful memory. If you're in the area, stop here!

The deck is a great place to have a meal and look out over the vast Pacific Ocean. The views from the outdoor seating area are absolutely stunning. The service is great and the food is really good. This is the second or third time we've been to the deck while visiting Laguna Beach and it does not disappoint. We shared several different items between the four of us and enjoyed delicious cocktails. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in Laguna Beach during the day & really take in those view!

Tucked away down an alley a local hotspot. I would have liked high top tables for a better view but still you can't deny the ocean views from bar seating. The Costal Cafi Tini was out of this world - I added Baileys!!! Try it you won't be disappointed

Wowzers!!! Many of the reviews are deceiving as this is not a restaurant worthy of 2 stars let alone 4.. if you took the view away you would not have anything positive. The food was no bueno in so many ways. The service was equally disappointing and sadly to say we wasted precious time eating here.

On the deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean! What a beautiful view!! We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. Upon arrival, you'll find that the valet completely disregards the flow of the street. They use the southbound lane as a parking lot, effectively turning a small two-way road into a one-way alley. The valet guys were also rude to people trying to drive through for no apparent reason. When sitting outside on the deck, there are 12 heaters available, but the hostess wouldn't turn them on. (I've eaten at many waterfront restaurants, and they all turn the heaters on--especially when the temperature drops from 80°F and sunny to 68°F after the sun goes down.) The website states no seating after 8 p.m., yet they were still seating people well after 8:15. The menu was also not what I was expecting. While waiting for dinner, the aroma of marijuana drifted across the dining area. (I know they can't control what happens outside their establishment.) the deck is roped off because apparently it's unsafe and could fall off at any moment in addition to the rotting floor. The food: The menu is underwhelming. I ordered the chicken with sun-dried tomato risotto and vegetables. The risotto was undercooked and flavorless, and the chicken was also lacking flavor. I sampled the New York steak with mashed potatoes--the steak was cooked well, but the potatoes were cold. We didn't even bother ordering dessert and went elsewhere instead.

The Deck is a cute spot with an amazing view of the ocean and Laguna Beach. The location is a little hidden which was not a problem with gps. I ordered a Grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich with chips. The sandwich was amazing, seasoned well with a great texture. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. The vibe was relaxed and upscale. If I am ever in Laguna again I would definitely like to visit again!

Casual spot with a great view! We went during the 15-foot waves and the water was pretty much crashing onto the building. I got the mahi mahi sandwich that the waitress recommended and it was *phenomenal*. My husband got the seafood pasta and really enjoyed it. We got some Mac & cheese for the baby it was really good, also a huge portion. We got a few meals out of it! I highly recommend coming. I've been to Driftwood Kitchen also (the more upscale, connected sister restaurant) and found it to be overpriced and a bit overrated, but the Deck doesn't disappoint.

No reservations required. We came on a Sunday. 30 minute wait. This gem is located right on the beach. They have a full bar. Intimate setting perfect for sunset dinner view. I'm sad it was a gloomy day but will definitely be back in the summer! They heated lamps on deck to keep us warm! The food was 10/10! Super impressed with their seafood tower. Their tuna poke as mouthwatering! It had a Santa Fe chipotle twist to it. Ceviche was fresh and so were the oysters, crab claws and lobster! Definitely recommend the seafood tower to try a bit of everything! We also ordered the scallop pasta!! The flavors bursted in your mouth! Perfect sauce to angel hair pasta ratio! I will want this again. Clam chowder... drool worthy! They had bits of bacon and celery in it!!! Soooo good. So I couldn't decide on their key lime pie or sticky toffee pudding - I told the waiter to surprise me! Thank God he brought out the sticky pudding --- ok seriously, one of the BEST I've ever had. So moist, perfect texture and not too sweet. I will come here over and over again!!! Perfect spot, perfect view! Service was amazing!!!! Very friendly and approachable-- this is going on my fave spots to eat list!!!!

We have been coming here for years and have gone through several of their menu changes! But it's been around 8 months the last time we were here. This place gets packed during summer or any good sunny day, especially on weekends. So, I'm glad to be able to come here on a weekday for lunch on a nice California day! There were only 2 of us so we were seated closest to the sand/ edge (tables at end are 2 seater). And place was not full yet. We were served by Christian R who is very pleasant and attentive. And of course, we come here mostly for the view!! The amazing view, so close to the ocean. This time we got the Laguna Cioppino and the Beach Burger. The cioppino has so much seafood (and variety of) and good! It comes with yummy buttered and toasted bread. The burger is really good too. These are two of our go to's here. Good place to chill, eat and drink while soaking the beautiful California sun. And to mesmerize on how nice it is to live in SoCal!

The Deck On Laguna Beach Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The Deck On Laguna Beach

    Is there bar seating?

Yes, there is bar seating. Full bar on deck!

    Do they have parking?

Valet parking available or you can park on the street but it will be a walk to the restaurant. Check my post. I took a photo of the valet prices.

How much is valet at The Deck?

I believe it is $12 for 3 hours.

Can I rent chair and umbrella or do I have to be a hotel guest?

Yes you can rent either (I believe) without being a guest at the hotel.

    Do they have an elevator?

I don't believe so, or at least I didn't see it

When it rains, is there a covering over the deck?

Sorry no, just market umbrellas and we move a few tables inside. But it never rains

    Is there parking nearby?

They have Valet Parking at the entrance.

    Are reservations required?

The Deck does not take reservations...best to get there earlier as place is popular

We would like to go for Lunch at 11am on Friday. Would you be able to accommodate a party of 8?

They don't take reservations; it's first-come first-served, based on in-person waitlist. Or at least that's what the recording just stated as I called for reservations

Is there anything else to do around here or walk and see? Shops or anything? We will be coming from far and don't want to just eat and drive back

Go up to Heisler Park which is a lovely walk along the Laguna Bluffs. This walk starts just about at Las Brisas restaurant... breathtaking🤙🏽

Are dogs allowed on the outside patio?

No, the Deck is only patio and they only allow service dogs

Hi! Is the fish that you serve wild caught? Thank you

The Restaurant is great and serves fresh seafood. Wild caught.

Is the restaurant open to the public?

Yes. No reservations. Plan on a wait. Also valet parking is expensive. Uber or Lyft would be the way to go

    What are the vegan options?

Is there a way down to the beach from the restaurant? We wanted to have our officiant marry us on the beach and then celebrate at the restaurant with our party of 8.

Yes, they have stairs to the beach. Congratulations!

Do they take groups larger than 8?

I would assume (if covid protocol is met) ... but they'd have to put 2 round tables together... all I saw was round tables

    Is there a dress code?

No we had gone hiking and we're in workout clothes and most people were in shorts and beach attire and others were dressed nicely for a afternoon brunch

Are dogs allowed while on outdoor patio?

Service dogs only in all areas. No pets at this time.

Are they taking reservations for 4 or more?

No they are first come first served basis. During the week the wait is not bad maybe 5-30 minutes. Weekends 1-2 hours at peak times. But it's oh so worth it. And ask for Sam. He rocks. Keeps food and drinks flowing.

Are there ocean views and patio seating?

Yes the sand is literally below the deck seating and water is so close. Must be beautiful at night as we went for lunch

The owner served us initially, and he was really friendly and funny. We ordered a bottle of wine, and some cocktails. We put in some salads and an appetizer, they were really really good. But after that, our server (the owner we were told) left, and another server introduced himself. The new server was inattentive. He sat chatting with the other servers at the bar, leaving empty glasses and empty plates on the table. We had to flag him to come back to fill water. Having been myself in the service industry for years, my biggest pet peeve is when servers sit and chat where you can see them, and when they do come, they don't do a sweep and take care of things on the table. We had to put our empty glasses and trash on a side table. It was weird. The bolognese had hardly any meat in it. It was mostly tomato and onion. I've been to Argentina. Meat is a staple. Also weird. We ordered dessert and after waiting for 5-10 minutes, the server came back and told us they were missing crucial ingredients to make it. The owner came back at the end and was really gracious, but all in all, I think the execution was lacking. The service was not great. The food was 3.5/5 I love to support small business, perhaps we will try again another night.

We still stayed for a while longer and ordered a few drinks. At one point, my guy and I were standing and talking at the bar, practically chest to chest, because it was a little crowded. This blonde guy who apparently was supposed to be a bouncer came right in between us to put away a glass at the bar.
