    Breathtaking sunset views
    Evelynn K.

Larsen restaurant, located within the Hotel Laguna has one of the nicest spots in the area for sunset views, located right on the beach in Laguna Beach. The Miso Halibut is well prepared and has a nice flavor palette. The Spicy Tuna Rolls were also well prepared and fresh. The current menu is unfortunately a bit smaller and more limited than the original menu, but the hotels' ambiance and views help compensate for it. The service was adequate. The restrooms in the hotel definitely need updating and look a bit institutional, like public school restrooms. Although the restaurant was not very busy on Easter evening, the hostesses were not overly welcoming or attentive.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. The service was absolutely amazing! It's been a long time since I've seen the ocean and our server moved us closer to the where I could see the beach better. The restaurant was absolutely gorgeous and when it got dark it got chilly so they had all of the outdoor heaters on. There were three of us and we shared three sushi rolls, (Maui, Bitchin and Sunset roll) some fries and poke nachos. Everything tasted phenomenal!!!! And then my drink was The Artist Formerly Known as Lola. Absolutely delicious! Even if you go for a couple of drinks or lite appetizers. Being able to watch the sunset and the beach is totally worth it. There is nothing negative for me to say. Don't walk....run here and maybe go for a walk on the beach after! You won't regret it!

very upset the hostess with the black hair was rude Won't come again :(

Came to Larsen's finally to celebrate a birthday! Beautiful view overlooking the ocean with stunning natural light. Overwhelmed by delicious food options! Service was good and quick for our large party. I got the Sunset Roll and was satisfied. Good quality fish- I think I have a good spice tolerance but the spicy tuna was pretty spicy!! Pricy, naturally, and hectic parking in the midst of downtown Laguna, but enjoyed my brunch!

Wow! Ive come here a few times but I had to leave a review today because Rebecca's service was EXCEPTIONAL! We came here this morning for my mother's birthday. Rebecca went above and beyond for our table and made sure to accommodate and find solutions to some of our food preferences and dietary concerns. The food was great. Steak and eggs were delicious. The Brussel burrata was probably my favorite dish. The view was incredible, with beachfront tables. We had such a good time!

I have a soft spot for Hotel Laguna. I practically grew up with this place. Birthdays, long lunches, late afternoons that bled into night. It is woven into my idea of what Laguna is. So when Larsen opened in that historic, impossible-to-beat setting on the water, downtown, postcard-perfect, I wanted it to succeed. Badly. Unfortunately, wanting something does not make it so. We made a reservation, arrived on time, and were greeted politely enough before being led to what can only be described as the patio graveyard. A two top on the water, yes, but flanked by discarded umbrellas and idle heaters, like we had been seated in the storage room with a view. Menus and water arrived quickly. Then nothing. Twenty minutes passed. No greeting. No drinks. No human contact. Eventually I went hunting for help and flagged down a busser, who summoned our server, Jose. Jose was the bright spot of the night. He nailed the apology and from that point forward was attentive, informed, and genuinely professional. He knew the menu. He knew the wine list. He did everything a good server is supposed to do when the wheels are already coming off. Unfortunately, the wheels were coming off. Several items on the already limited menu were unavailable, a red flag for any restaurant, let alone one charging big-league prices in a town that eats out for sport. My seventy five dollar ribeye arrived cut thin as a breakfast steak, offering no chance at proper caramelization or character. My wife's salmon was fine. She might order it again. I would not. I later learned there has been management turnover and the kitchen is being rebuilt. That may explain shortages. It does not explain the service breakdown, the confused presentation, or the sense that no one is really in control of the room. Laguna is unforgiving to restaurants. The competition is brutal, the clientele experienced, the expectations high. This location should be one of the great dining rooms of the coast. Right now, it is just a beautiful stage with a shaky production. Hats off to Jose for trying to save the night. He was the professional in the building. But Larsen, as it stands, is not ready for the spotlight. And in a town like Laguna, that matters.

A not very enjoyable experience. Felt pretentious and only were served when we were told our table has a reservation in an hour, we sat at our seats for over 30 minutes beforehand.... Drinks were mediocre. Didn't enjoy the way that we were treated. We did enjoy the view, but that was about it.

Place was amazing! The food was bomb and on top of that with a beautiful view of the beach! Service was great, very friendly staff!

With many restaurants, it's location, location, location. That definitely applies here, where you get winning sunsets and as close to the beach as you can get (except, maybe for Splashes restaurant). The service here is a little hit or miss - it might depend on how many staff they have on hand, what time of day, and what season it is. We had a server that was very friendly, but disappeared for long periods of time. The food is beautifully presented and very good, but not to the level of greatness. They do have a separate kitchen supplying the sushi rolls, and if you order the bread basket, that is actually baked in San Juan Capistrano. I am not 100% sure that the Hotel Laguna, where this restaurant is located, is fully open, but this restaurant inside is open. The ambiance inside is clean and bright, and the view on the outside patio is amazing on a beautiful day.

Drinks are good, food is ok, but could improve. Love the views and service is good. Some days they have a live band or DJ which adds to the fun. We go here pretty often and will continue to go!

While in Laguna, I decided to stop by the beautiful Hotel Laguna to enjoy an app @ Larsen's. Valet took my car to park which was easy & convenient. With validation comes out to $10. Not bad. I walk through the beautiful lobby of the hotel & straight back to be greeted by the friendly hostess at Larsen. I was checked in promptly & escorted to the perfect table right by the window. I love a great bite with a gorgeous view. I got just that! I was killing a little time before a party & didn't want to spoil my appetite. I decided to order an appetizer. I ended up choosing the BURRATA & BRUSSELS which ended up being the perfect bite. Not too much but super satisfying for [1] person. I'd order a second if I had company. The Brussels were perfectly charred with a splendid sweet & spicy flavored sauce on top. This was an appreciated contrast from the creaminess of the Burrata. The flavors played well back & forth between each other. I've gotta come back for drinks & dinner service when I've got more time. KUDOS & thank you for an amazing dinner & service Larsen's @ Hotel Laguna! CHEERS!

A quick tip before you go: parking is either available on the street (if you're lucky enough to find a spot) or through valet for $15. The restaurant is located inside the hotel, and once you enter you'll take the elevator down to Level 1, where you'll be greeted with beautiful ocean views. We had a reservation and were seated very quickly. While we waited for our table to be cleared, Ava, our host, was so sweet and personable. She took the time to chat with us, shared some of her favorite menu recommendations, and when she noticed us unsuccessfully trying to take a selfie overlooking the water, she kindly offered to take a photo for us. It was such a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome. Throughout dinner, Jesse was assisting our table, and he was fantastic. He always seemed to appear at just the right time without ever feeling intrusive. He was friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout the evening. Our main server, Carson, was equally amazing. He was welcoming from the moment we sat down, incredibly attentive, and you could tell he genuinely cared about providing a great dining experience. His recommendations were spot on, he checked in on us regularly, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever rushing us. The food was excellent. I absolutely loved the burrata salad, and my husband ordered the lobster bisque. At first, he thought the portion might be on the smaller side, but between the bisque and the bread, he ended up completely satisfied. Speaking of the bread--don't skip it! The butter, made with grass-fed cream, was absolutely incredible and made the appetizer even more memorable. Overall, Splashes exceeded our expectations. From the warm hospitality to the attentive service and delicious food, every part of the experience was exceptional. It truly deserves all of its five-star reviews. The main patio was covered with umbrellas, so once you are seated for dinner, there was plenty of umbrellas for shade and heaters for when it got a little cooler. For our food orders, and as recommended by our server, we went with their seafood options and ordered their Pacific Ceviche for an appetizer and for Entrees my husband got the Roasted Halibut and me and my mother-in-law both got the Scallop and Shrimp pasta. We all loved our dishes and were very satisfied with our choices. Their menu does have non-seafood options, but why not to try what they're most prominent for? They don't have a dessert menu, but they heard that we were celebrating mom's birthday so they brought us a little Toffee Cake to share and enjoy...and for a place that doesn't have dessert, the cake was pretty delicious. My daughter ordered the cioppino, and after checking the seafood in her dish, we noticed the scallop was also very rubbery and didn't seem fresh either. Fresh seafood is something restaurants should never compromise on. Based on this experience, I can't recommend eating here and would suggest trying another restaurant instead.
